Effect of Temperature on Winter Growth in Grafted Cactus (Chamecereus silvestrii) 'Hee-Mang' (접목선인장 산취 '희망'의 동절기 온도처리가 생육에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was carried out to investigate growth response of Chamecereus silvestrii 'Hee-Mang' in accordance to day and night temperature in winter season. The plant height was maximized at $20/15^{\circ}C$ (day/night). Globe height and diameter were the highest in the day temperature of $25^{\circ}C$. Globe diameter was relevant high by increasing day temperature. Hunter 'a' value is significantly lower by decreasing of night temperature whereas 'b' value is higher. Characteristic of de-rooted grafting cactus was continually decreased until 15 days, then started growth again.

  • The root-zone environment is an important factor to the plant growth and it is closely related to the thermal characteristics of the root media. In this study thermal characteristics of root media with ambient environmental conditions were analyzed. The temperatures of nutrient solution as well as inside air of culture bed were measured in Nutrient Film Technique(NFT) and Deep Flow Technique(DFT) systems, and also the temperatures of root media measured in aggregate culture systems , The temperature of nutrient solution of NFT system with as low as 3$\ell$/min of flow rate was 3$^{\circ}C$ higher than that with 5 $\ell$/min of flow rate in the daytime, and the temperature of inside air was 2$^{\circ}C$ higher at night. And the temperature of nutrient solution of DFT system with as low as 0.8 cm of water level was 1-2$^{\circ}C$ higher than that with 1 8 cm in the daytime, and the temperature of inside air was almost same at night. The root-zone temperatures in the perlite and rockwool granulate systems with film mulching were 3$^{\circ}C$ higher than those without film mulching in the daytime. However, the rockwool slab system with film mulching showed the same trend as rockwool granulate system, but relatively higher temperature than any other medium because of the exposure of media surface to the ambient air. Additionally the temperature below the plant was measured 3$^{\circ}C$ lower than that between plants.

  • 도시에서의 빛의 연출은 도시의 축을 부각시키고, 가로의 아이덴티티를 연출함으로서 도시의 인지도를 향상시킬 수 있다. 또한 야간의 경관은 인공조명을 이용한 빛의 연출로 주간과는 다른 빛환경 경관을 연출할 수 있다. 이에 본 연구는 도시 가로 중에서 상업가로와 주거가로를 대상으로 주 야간의 빛환경 특성을 분석하여, 가로의 용도에 따른 주야간의 빛환경 차이를 고찰하였다. 이를 위하여 두 가로의 일정길이에 대하여 수평면조도, 스칼라 조도, 휘도 및 색온도를 측정하였으며 측정결과를 용도별, 주 야별로 비교하여 분석하였다. 측정한 결과를 정리하면 다음과 같다. (1)수평면조도의 측정 결과, 주간의 주거가로에 비하여 상업가로가 28.8[%] 높게 나타났으며 야간의 경우 87.2[%] 높게 나타났다. (2) 스칼라조도의 측정결과, 스칼라조도의 특성상 전반적으로 균일한 분포를 보이며, 수평면 조도와 마찬가지로 주간에 비하여 야간에 84[%] 높은 값이 측정되었다. (3) 휘도의 측정 결과, 주간 배경에 대한 대상의 휘도비는 상업과 주거가로가 1:2이하로 나타나 조화로운 가로경관을 연출하며, 야간배경에 대한 대상의 휘도비는 상업가로는 1:17로 활기 있는 경관을 연출하고 주거가로는 1:5로 가로경관 이미지에 적당한 강조효과가 나타났다. (4) 색온도의 측정 결과, 주간의 배경은 맑은 하늘의 색온도를 나타냈으며 대상은 상쾌하고 활동적인 이미지의 색온도를 나타내었다. 또한 야간의 경우 상업가로와 주거가로 모두 나트륨 등의 영향을 받아 전반적으로 따뜻한 느낌의 색온도가 연출되었다.

  • Experiments were conducted to know the effects of seed bed temperatures on the sprouting of seeds and seedling growth in the phytotron and field. Sprouting of seeds were most uniform when seed bed was stored under the straw and vinyl mulching for 48 hours after seed bed temperature increased up to 3$0^{\circ}C$ by the sun. In the phytotron, optimum temperature was 32$^{\circ}C$ for sprouting and day/night temperature of 25/30 and 20/15$^{\circ}C$ for greening and hardening of seedlings, respectively. In the field, the best results were obtained under the conditions of sprouting in the seedling chamber heated by electricity and greening the hardening under the double vinyl tunnel in the upland nusery bed.

Effect of Globe Growth and Chromogenic on Day and Night Temperature and the LED Light Treatment of Expert Grafted Cactus (Chamecereus silvestrii f. variegata) Cultivar 'Hee-Mang' (수출 접목선인장 산취 '희망'의 주.야 온도 및 LED광 처리가 모구 생육과 발색에 미치는 영향)

  • This experiment was conducted to find the day and night temperature combination and the light-emitting diodes (LEDs) on the most effective globe coloration and growth of Chamecereus silvestrii f. variegata 'Hee-Mang'. The $L^*$value, $a^*$value and $b^*$value were all significant difference in the yellow globe color expression in the day and night temperature combination. Especially, the bright yellow color and visual value were the highest in the temperature combination, the day temperature of $20^{\circ}C$ and night temperature of $20^{\circ}C$. Globe color quality was lowered from the day temperature of $25^{\circ}C$ and night temperatures of $5^{\circ}C$ and $10^{\circ}C$ combination. In light-emitting diodes (LEDs) treatments, $a^*$value and $b^*$value are significant difference. A unique beautiful yellow coloration and globe quality were maintained the $a^*$value of +5.23, $b^*$value of +39.9 in a red LED. The optimum temperature range and light-emitting diodes (LEDs) on the globe color expression were the most effective the day temperature of 200e and night temperature of $20^{\circ}C$ and a red LED. In addition, the outer globe color quality of Chamecereus silvestrii f. variegata cultivation, rather than the light environment improvement is better in a proper temperature environment to keep. Especially, a unique globe color expression of yellow lines was most effective in a red LED.

Influences of Difference between Day and Night Temperatures (DIF) on Growth and Development of Bell Pepper Plants before and after Transplanting (단고추(피망) 육묘시 주야간 온도차(DIF)가 플러그묘 생장과 정식후 식물의 생육에 미치는 영향)

  • Plug seedlings of bell pepper(Capsicum annuum L.) were grown for 50 days in controlled environment chambers under 12 hrs per day photoperiodic condition with sixteen different day and night temperature regimes to investigate the possibility of height control. The seedlings were then transplanted to greenhouse to investigate the growth, flowering, and yield afterward. Plant height and stem length of seedlings were mainly affected by day temperature rather than night temperature. Internode elongation was suppressed by a negative DIF and was enhanced by a positive DIF even with the same average daily temperature (ADT). Leaf unfolding rate was influenced more by ADT than by DIF. Fresh and dry weights increased as ADT increased. Leaf area and stem diameter increased until temperature increased up to 24$^{\circ}C$ day and night temperature and decreased above 24$^{\circ}C$, The position at which the first flower was initiated was lowered as ADT increased. The first flower degeneration was not obvious up to 24$^{\circ}C$ ADT but increased rapidly above 24$^{\circ}C$ ADT. Seedling compactness(Dry weight per plant height :mg.mm$^{-1}$ ) was greater under -DIF than +DIF condition. In conclusion, DIF treatment was an applicable technique to control stem elongation and growth rate such as leaf unfolding rate and position at which first flower was initiated could be controlled by ADT.

Influences of DIF on Growth of Capsicum annuum 'Nokkwang' (주야간(晝夜間) 온도차(溫度差)(DIF)처리(處理)에 의한 고추 '녹광' 플러그묘(苗)의 생장반응(生長反應))

  • Capsicum annuum 'Nokkwang' plug seedlings were treated with 9 different day and night temperatures to investigate on growth and differentiation in controlled environment conditions. The plant height was the most affected by day temperature and DIF and stem length was the similler results as plant height. However, Leaf unfolding rate and leaf length and width increased as average daily temperature increased. and especially fresh weight was worst at ADT was $15^{\circ}C$ and increased as ADT increased. In contrast with fresh weight, chlorophyll content calculated highest when ADT was $15^{\circ}C$, and decreased as NT increased respectively. The stem lengths were not significantly different among treatments with exception of DT/NT=15/$15^{\circ}C$ which significantly decreased. The ultimate +DIF condition, DT/NT=30/$15^{\circ}C$, caused high T/R ratio due to abundant top growth. It is concluded that DT is $22.5^{\circ}C$, and NT is ranged from $15^{\circ}C$ to $22.5^{\circ}C$ to be produced short, healthy plug seedlings in Capsicum annuum 'Nokkwang'.

  • 인천국제공항 건설후 안개 발생과 관련한 국지 기상의 변화를 살펴보고자 하였다. 먼저 온도의 시계열 변화를 살펴 보았을 때 건설 전과 대비해 건설 후에 약 $2^{\circ}C$ 정도의 온도 상승효과가 나타났으며 지표면이 Urban일 경우 주간에 가장 온도가 높고 야간에 온도가 가장 낮게 나타났다.

Influence of DIF on Factors Associated with Growth of Young Watermelon(Citrullus vulgaris S.) Plant in Controlled Environments (수박의 초기 생장에 미치는 DIF의 영향)

  • For reducing planting distance in greenhouse grown watermelon(Citrullus vulgaris S.) this experiment was carried out to study the effect of DIF on stem elongation and growth. Day temperatures ranged from $25^{\circ}C$ to 35$^{\circ}C$ : night temperatures ranged from $25^{\circ}C$ to 35$^{\circ}C$ at 5$^{\circ}C$ interval. Stem elongation, leaf size, dry weight and flowering were influence by day and night temperatures. Stem elongation and length of internode decrease with increasing night temperature at same day temperature. The optimums for number of leaves categories was with day at 35$^{\circ}C$, and flower production was the lowest at $25^{\circ}C$. Total leaf area meter was maximized at 35/30(DT/NT), but for size pet one leave was the largest 25/25(DT/NT). Responses of leaf size per leaves were similar to that of internode length, with maximum day and night at $25^{\circ}C$. Total plant dry weight was the highest 35/30 (DT/NT) and minimum occurring at 25/30(DT/NT). The shoot/root ratios of dry weight Increased with day temperature up to 3$0^{\circ}C$ and were the highest with night at $25^{\circ}C$. Chlorophyll contents decreased with decreasing day and night temperature.

Evaluating the Land Surface Characterization of High-Resolution Middle-Infrared Data for Day and Night Time (고해상도 중적외선 영상자료의 주야간 지표면 식별 특성 평가)

  • This research is aimed at evaluating the land surface characterization of KOMPSAT-3A middle infrared (MIR) data. Airborne Hyperspectral Scanner (AHS) data, which has MIR bands with high spatial resolution, were used to assess land surface temperature (LST) retrieval and classification accuracy of MIR bands. Firstly, LST values for daytime and nighttime, which were calculated with AHS thermal infrared (TIR) bands, were compared to digital number of AHS MIR bands. The determination coefficient of AHS band 68 (center wavelength $4.64{\mu}m$) was over 0.74, and was higher than other MIR bands. Secondly, The land cover maps were generated by unsupervised classification methods using the AHS MIR bands. Each class of land cover maps for daytime, such as water, trees, green grass, roads, roofs, was distinguished well. But some classes of land cover maps for nighttime, such as trees versus green grass, roads versus roofs, were not separated. The image classification using the difference images between daytime AHS MIR bands and nighttime AHS MIR bands were conducted to enhance the discrimination ability of land surface for AHS MIR imagery. The classification accuracy of the land cover map for zone 1 and zone 2 was 67.5%, 64.3%, respectively. It was improved by 10% compared to land cover map of daytime AHS MIR bands and night AHS MIR bands. Consequently, new algorithm based on land surface characteristics is required for temperature retrieval of high resolution MIR imagery, and the difference images between daytime and nighttime was considered to enhance the ability of land surface characterization using high resolution MIR data.
