  • 열고환기에는 boiler와 같이 다량의 열 energy를 취급하는 것을 비롯하여 가정용 냉장고, 냉방기 기와 같이 비교적 적은 양의 열 energy를 취급하는것, 가종 고온 gas-gas 열교환기, 초전도송전 등의 초저온기기에 부속되는 저온열교환기 혹은 배열회수, 태양열이용을 위한 장치에 포함되는 열교환기등이 있으며, 그 종류와 내용에 있어서 다양하다. 따라서 새 형식의 열교환기 혹은 우수 한 전열특성을 갖는 표면, 형상을 갖는 전열관의 연구, 개발은 한층더 절실하게 요망된다. 최근주 목을 받고 있는 열교환기용전열관중에는 관축방향을 따라 표면을 파상으로 가공한 것(corrugate 식)과 축과 평형이 되게 만든 좁은 흠을 갖는 관(fluted tube)등이 있는데 이들에 있어서는 다같 이 표면의 요철에 의한 면부근의 난동을 촉진시켜서 우수한 대류열전달의 특성을 갖도록 하고 있다. 한편 응축과 비등등의 상변화를 동반하는 열전달에 대해서는 세구, 기공질금속층, 세공등을 갖는 면에 관해서 새로운 관심이 집중되고 있다. 이 후자의 전열면은 유축열전달에서는 평활면보 다 약10배의 높은 열전달율을 가지며 불등열전달에서는 벽면과 액의 온도차는 평활면의 경우보다 약1/5의 값을 갖는다. 동시에 한계열유속은 5활이상으로 증가시킬 수 있음이 알려져 있다. 따라서 본론에서는 후자의 전열면중에서 최근에 알려진 비약적으로 높은 전열성능을 갖는 전열면에 관해 서 소개하기로 한다.

Application of Artificial Neural Network to the Prediction of Pollutant Concentration in Road Tunnels (인공신경망을 이용한 도로터널 오염물질 농도 예측)

  • In this study, it was purposed to develop the new method for the prediction of pollutant concentration in road tunnels. The new method was the use of artificial neural network with the back-propagation algorithm which can model the non-linear system of tunnel environment. This network system was separated into two parts as the visibility and the CO concentration. For this study, data was collected from two highway road tunnels on Yeongdong Expressway. The tunnels have two lanes with one-way direction and adopt the longitudinal ventilation system. The actually measured data from the tunnels was used to develop the neural network system for the prediction of pollutant concentration. The output results from the newly developed neural network system were analysed and compared with the calculated values by PIARC method. Results showed that the prediction accuracy by the neural network system was approximately five times better than the one by PIARC method. In addition, the system predicted much more accurately at the situation where the drivers have to be stayed for a while in tunnels caused by the low velocity of vehicles.

The Jet-fan Model Test for a Road Tunnel Ventilation (도로터널 제트팬 모형 실험)

  • As tunnel ventilation has recently been playing a major role in the tunnel construction and maintenance, longitudinal ventilation systems with jet fans have been utilized a great deal because they are economical and effective. However, due to the length of tunnels and heavy traffic, it is hard to take the field measurements. In this study, therefore, the computer simulation and the model experiment of producing a wind tunnel were carried out simultaneously and the results were compared. The ultimate objective of this research was to interpret the air flow pattern inside the tunnel with a jet-fan was set up, and to offer the useful data for jet-fan installation and operation. The experiment was carried out with varying the jet-fan diameters, location of installation, the discharge velocity. Result showed that as the initial static pressure came up with the negative pressure, the tunnel air flowed into the inside of tunnel from outside due to the entrainment-effect and the backflow-phenomenon by separation-effect was observed in the lower half part of the tunnel. As the jet-fan was getting closer to the tunnel wall, the entrainment-effect caused by the interaction with the wall was increased; however, the mixing distance and irregular flow section became longer, and also the air pressure loss generated by wall friction was large.

Smart Closet based on Arduino MEGA (아두이노 메가 기반의 스마트 옷장)

  • Modern people have many kinds of clothes for individuals, and not just for storing clothes, but also for managing the condition of the closet, and users of smart closets created smart closets that provide daily convenience and optimal closet conditions, suggesting the possibility of developing smart furniture for various environments. In this developed system, smart closet is controlled using app inventor and touch LCD through bluetooth wireless communication, based on Arduino MEGA and user's clothes is recommended depending on the weather. In addition, this smart closet is designed with real-time weather status checking and easy ventilation function. It was implemented through the Arduino and app inventor program so that the weather can be printed on the LCD screen and the user's suitable clothes can be recommended to the application.

An Experimental Study on the Elastic Modulus of Deep Mixing Ground Specimen (심층혼합 시료의 탄성계수에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • In this study, aimed at determining the elastic modulus of deep mixed samples, 320 test specimens were developed by mixing 8%, 10%, 12%, and 14% of stabilizer mixture in the granular conditions of clay, sand and gravel. Uniaxial compression tests were carried out using these specimens, and the uniaxial compression strength and strain were analyzed to determine the secant elastic modulus and tangent elastic modulus. Laboratory test results showed that the uniaxial compression strength of all deep mixed samples increased with increasing curing time and stabilizer mixing ratio, and that the secant elastic modulus and the tangen elastic modulus also increased. The increase of the elastic modulus according to the curing period turned out greater in the tangent elastic modulus than in the secant elastic modulus. In order to measure elastic modulus with changes in stabilizer mixing ratio, the correlation coefficient between the elastic modulus for stabilizer mixing ratio of 8% and that of 10%, 12% and 14% was calculated respectively by the specimen condition. The elastic modulus tended to increase as the grain size in a deep mixed specimen increased. The distribution of grain size that had the greatest effect appeared when the composition ratio of sand was high. On the other hand, the increase in the elastic modulus was larger in the sand specimens than in the clay and gravel specimens. Based on these results, it is suggested that a pertinent soil parameter of the deep mixed ground in the field may be obtained by the particle size distribution and the mixing ratio of stabilizer of the deep mixed soil.

Development of artificial cultivation conditions on Tricholoma gigantium (왕송이버섯(Tricholoma gigantium)의 인공재배를 위한 환경조건 구명)

  • Tricholoma gigantium, an edible mushroom, belongs to Tricholomataceae of Tricholoma and is distributed at Jeju-Do in Korea. It is also well-known as the medicinal mushroom in Taiwan. The cultivation method using the compost was developed in Korea in 1995. To develop a mass cultivation method and a superior strain, four strains were collected and tested. To establish the optimal cultivation conditions, various examinations were accomplished. Bag cultivation was more effective than box cultivation and the optimal relative humidity was more than 80%. Although the mycelial growth was tested in the substrate supplemented with different additives, such as rice bran and wheat bran, there's no significant difference between them. It suggested that the environmental conditions were more important than the substrate additives for cultivation.

Flow and smoke behavior of a longitudinal ventilation tunnel with various velocities using computational fluid dynamics (팬의 운전조건에 따른 종류식환기터널 내의 연기거동에 관한 전산유체역학연구)

  • A numerical analysis on the smoke behavior and evacuee safety has been performed with computational fluid dynamics. The purpose of this study is to build computational processes for an evacuation and prevention of a fire disaster of a 3 km-length tunnel in Korea. To save computational cost, 1.5 km of the tunnel that can include a few cross-passing tunnels is considered. We are going to assess the fire safety in a road tunnel according to the smoke level, which consists of the smoke density and the height from the floor. The smoke density is obtained in detail from three-dimensional unsteady CFD analysis. To obtain proper temperature distributions on the tunnel wall, one-dimensional conduction equation is considered instead of an adiabatic wall boundary or a constant heat flux. The tunnel considered in this study equips the cross passing tunnels for evacuees every 250 m. The distance is critical in both safety and economy. The more cross passing tunnels, the more safe but the more expensive. Three different jet fan operations can be considered in this study; under- and over-critical velocities for normal traffic condition and 0-velocoty operation for the traffic congestion. The SE (smoke environment) level maps show a smoke environment and an evacuating behavior every moment.

An experimental study on the smoke-spread region before reaching the critical velocity for the case of fires in tunnels employing longitudinal ventilation system (종류식 환기 시스템에서 임계속도 도달 전 스모크 확산 영역에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • An experimental study was carried out on a reduced scale tunnel model to grasp the behavioral feature of fire-induced smoke in the long tunnels. Based on Froude modeling, the 1/50 scaled tunnel model (20 m long) was constructed by acrylic tubes and paraffin gas was released inside the tunnel to simulate the 20 MW fire-induced smoke. me test results show, that after approximately 2 minutes of fire generation, was descended from the tunnel ceiling through the decrease of buoyancy, then it was symmetrically propagated about 90 meters for 4 minutes before jet fans were operated. The smoke was effectively controlled when the jet fans were operated and an air stream velocity was getting closed to reach a critical velocity (the minimum air velocity that requires to suppress the smoke spreading against the longitudinal ventilation flow during the tunnel fire situations). It was also found out that a range of smoke was spreaded about 3 meters from the origin of fire but the range was not propagated to the escape direction anymore. The early stage of the In operation, however, showed that the smoke was hardly controlled. It means that the operation of emergency ventilation system has many dangerous factors such as an intercepting breathing zone.

Measuring Attitudes and Satisfaction Level towards Military Foodservices (군 급식소의 이용실태 및 만족도 조사)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the attitudes and satisfaction level towards military foodservices as well as suggest effective ways to increase foodservice quality. A questionnaire survey was administered to 413 subjects, which included 400 soldiers and 13 foodservice managers. The survey period was from August 6 to August 25, 2008. The collected data were statistically treated using SPSS V12.0. Most of the investigated soldiers were 20~25 years old. The foodservice managers were male general officials and the majority of them had no prior food service training. None of the foodservice managers had a dietician certificate. Menu was planned through a local foodservice conference, and most food materials were delivered in the form of center-type and military unit-type. Deficiency and deterioration of food service facilities (28.6%) as well as deficiency in the number of cooking personnel (14.3%) increased the difficulty of operational management. Soldiers expressed a desire for increases in Western (25.7%) and Korean traditional foods (21.5%), which meant menu diversity. To increase the quality of military foodservices, taste of food (40.6%), increased portion size (30.4%), and improvement in hygienic conditions (13.6%) were demanded by the soldiers. Food taste (30.8%), improvement in hygienic conditions (23.1%), and better job management were all demanded by the foodservice managers. After factor analysis, quality attributes were rearranged into five dimensions, including facilities, food, menu, service, and sanitation most attributes were over 4 points out of 5 total in importance, but only 3 points in performance. The importance score was higher than the performance score. Soldiers' overall satisfaction level was on average 3.43 points out of 5 points.
