Integrated Chassis Control System with Fail Safety Using Optimum Yaw Moment Distribution (최적 요모멘트 분배 방법을 이용한 고장 안전 통합 섀시 제어기 설계)

  • This paper presents an integrated chassis control system with fail safety using optimum yaw moment distribution for a vehicle with steer-by-wire and brake-by-wire devices. The proposed system has two-level structure: upper- and lower-level controllers. In the upper-level controller, the control yaw moment is computed with sliding mode control theory. In the lower-level controller, the control yaw moment is distributed into the tire forces of active front steering(AFS) and electronic stability control(ESC) with the weighted pseudo-inverse based control allocation(WPCA) method. By setting the variable weights in WPCA, it is possible to take the sensor/actuator failure into account. In this framework, it is necessary to optimize the variables weights in order to enhance the yaw moment distribution. For this purpose, simulation-based tuning is proposed. To show the effectiveness of the proposed method, simulations are conducted on a vehicle simulation package, CarSim.

  • This paper proposed yaw moment control scheme using braking and active rear wheel steering for improving driving stability especially in high speed driving. Its characteristics the unified chassis control system of two equipment that 4WS(4 Wheel Steering) and ESP(Electronic Stability Program). in this study the performance of the vehicle was compared each equipment. And conventional ABS and TCS can only possible to control the longitudinal movement of braking equipment and drive which can only available to control of longitudinal direction. There after new braking system ESP was developed, which controls both of longitudinal and lateral, with adding of the function of controlling Active Yaw Moment. On this paper, we show about not only designing of improved braking and steering system through establishing of the integrated control system design of 4WS and ESP but also designing of the system contribute to precautious for advanced vehicle stability problem.

  • Conventionally, 2WS is used for vehicle sleeting, which can only steering front wheel. In case of trying to high speed slalom or emergency through this kind of vehicle equipped 2WS, it may occur much of side slip angle. On the other hand, 4WS makes decreasing of side slip angle, outstandingly, so it is possible to support vehicle movement stable. And conventional ABS and TCS can only possible control the longitudinal movement of braking equipment and drive which can only availab to control of longitudinal direction. Development and Validation of Robot Steered EPS HILS System (로봇 조향 기반 EPS HILS 시스템의 개발 및 검증)

  • As the conventional hydraulic power steering system in the passenger vehicles is being rapidly replaced by EPS (Electric Power Steering) system, performance evaluation of the EPS system has become an important issue in the automotive industries. But the evaluation process takes significant expertise since steering conditions in the test protocols must be implemented with high accuracy. EPS HILS (Hardware-In the-Loop Simulation) system is developed together with robot steering system in this study. Main components of EPS HILS system include: C-EPS hardware, CarSim vehicle model, and road reaction force generation system powered by servo motor. The robot steering system, operated by another servo motor, was combined with EPS HILS system to substitute for steering efforts of human driver. The road reaction force generation system and the robot steering system were carefully validated by using the data obtained from vehicle tests. An on-center handling test was conducted by using EPS HILS system combined with the robot steering system. In the result of this study, robot-steered EPS HILS system developed with its high reliability and no need of skilled driver's, can be widely adopted to evaluate any performance of EPS system.

  • By using the information obtained from the outputs of MR(MagnetoResistive) sensors for an Unmanned Vehicle Driving System, we develop an algorithm that decides the distance and direction between vehicle and the guideline which is made by the magnet. To improve the robust tracking properties of the closed loop system, we introduce H$\infty$ controller and its application for the Unmanned Vehicle Driving System.

  • 전기차의 자율주행을 위해선 차선 인식과 모터 제어가 필요하다. 카메라로 입력된 영상에 허프 변환을 적용하고, 변환된 이진 이미지에 Enet 및 DeepLabv3+ 구조를 활용한 LaneNet 모델을 적용하여 차선을 학습시키고, Fuzzy 제어 기법을 활용하여 모터의 조향이 원활이 되도록 하였다. 기존의 Rule base 기법에 비하여 차선 인식 정확도가 월등히 향상되었으며, 주행 결과 Real-Time 주행환경 판단에 대한 여지를 남겼다.

  • Pressure ripple, vibration and noise level are measured in each parts of the power steering system. MD(Mahalanobis Distance) is calculated by using MTS(Mahalanobis Taguchi System) with measured data, and noise sensitive components are selected. The components applied detail design parameters are made and data is measured. After that MD is calculated also. Mean value and SN ratio can be obtained from the MD. Effective noise reduction technique and dominant design parameters in hydraulic power steering system are introduced.

  • EPS(Electric Power Steering) systems have many advantages over traditional hydraulic power steering systems in space efficiency engine efficiency and environmental compatibility. In this paper an EPS system control logic using a torque map is proposed. The main function of the EPS system is to reduce the steering torque exerted by a driver by assist of an electric motor. Vehcile speed steering torque and steering wheel angle are measured and fed back to the EPS control system where appropriate assist torque is generated to assist the operator's steering effort. Another capability of the EPS system for easy adaptation to different steering feels via simple tuning is demonstrated by the experiments. It will be also verified that the EPS system can also improve damping and return performance of the steering wheel by control of the assist motor.

  • The 4WS system is usually developed to improve the maneuverability at low speed and the straight line stability at high speed, but it is found to have the severe understeer characteristics at high speed. Therefore a 4WS vehicle requires to turn the steering wheel much more than a 2WS vehicle at high speeds even a driver goes through the same curved road. In this study, to enhance the cornering performance of the 4WS vehicle at high speed, a DYC 4WS system is proposed based on the nonlinear 4WS system and direct yaw moment control system. Especially the proposed DYC 4WS system is able to realize a zero side slip angle for vehicles and a cornering performance similar to the 2WS vehicle at high speed.

Effect of four-wheel steering system on vehicle handling characterisitcs (4륜 조향시스템이 차량의 주행역학적 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • Equipments of passenger cars with modern technologies are gaining their importance. Related with such developments, the four-wheel steering system (4WS) was introduced recently to a few passenger cars in the market. The most important research goal on this new steering system is improvement of active safety, in other words, improvement of handling characteristics of vehicle stability and maneuverability. This paper presents a computer-based study about the effects of 4WS system on the vehicle handling characteristics. A simple bicycle model of 2 d.o.f. is used for the development of four wheel control algorithms of 4WS system, and the rear wheel control strategies are applied to a complex vehicle model of 16 d.o.f. for simulation of selected ISO-driving tests. The 4WS systems, which reduce the sideslip angle at the mass center of vehicle to almost zero, show much improved handling characteristics compared to that of the conventional 2WS system. These 4WS systems, however, result in vehicles with eigen-steer characteristics of extreme understeer behaviour.
