Crystallization Behavior of Poly(lactic acid) / Poly($\varepsilon$-caprolactone) Blends (폴리락트산/폴리카프로락톤 블렌드의 결정화 거동)

  • The compatibility of poly(lactic acid)/poly($\varepsilon$-caprolactone) (PLA/PCL) blends as a function of blend composition was studied and triphenyl phosphite (TPP) was applied to PLA/PCL blends as a reactive compatibilizer. Especially the effect of compatibility on the crystallization behavior in both PLA/PCL blends and PLA/PCL blends with TPP was considered. PLA/PCL blends were immiscible based on thermal characteristics of PLA/PCL blends and the miscibility was depend upon the blend composition. The enhancement of compatibility was found in PLA/PCL blends with TPP depend upon its content. The rate of crystallization in PLA/PCL blend varied with blend composition. This was understood as the development of nucleation at the interface of PLA-PCL due to the immiscibility. TPP was acting as a compatibilizer as well as an agent for the acceleration of spherulite growth In PLA. As a result, the crystallization rate increased and the size of spherulite became larger than that of PLA/PCL blend without TPP.

Effect of Dietary Lipid on Fatty acid Pattern in Developing Brain Mitochondria in Rats (식이 중 지방 함량이 성장기 쥐의 뇌 미토콘드리아 지방산 조성에 미치는 영향)

  • 식이 중 지방함량이 성장기 뇌의 미토콘드리아 지방산 조성에 미치는 영향을 살펴보기 위해 옥수수기름을 각각 10, 2, 0.5% 포함한 3종류의 식이를 임신한 Sprague Dawley종의 흰쥐에게 임신말기부터 제공했다. 수유기간 중의 영향을 살펴보기 위해 대조군(10%옥수수기름 섭취)의 일부에 분만 후 0.5% 결핍식이를 섭취시켰고, 또 이유후부터 0.5% 결핍식이군의 일부에 10% 정상식이를 주어 회복효과를 관찰하고자 하였다. 전 실험기간 동안 체중과 뇌 무게, 단백질 함량을 측정하였고 뇌에서의 미토콘드리아를 분리하여 지방산 조성을 관찰하였다. 출생후 수유기간 동안에는 대조군에 비해 지방결핍식이군에서 체중과 뇌의 무게가 다소 높았으나 이유 후 부터 점점 감소하여 유의적인 차이를 볼 수 없었고 특히 0.5% 식이군의 체중은 생후 6주와 7주에 유의적인 감소를 보였다. 그러나 체중에 대한 뇌무게와 뇌의 단백질 함량에 있어에는 대조군과 결핍군 사이에 유의적인 차이를 볼 수 없었다. 따라서 지방결핍이 뇌 성장에 미치는 영향은 다른 영양소에 비해 크지 않음을 알 수 있었다. 뇌 미토콘드리아의 지방산 조성은 나이와 식이에 따라 변하였다. 나이를 먹음에 따라 단쇄 포화 지방산은 감소하고 다 불포화 지방산의 함량은 증가하였다. 또한 결핍식이군과 대조군 사이에 뇌 미토콘드리아 지방산조성을 살펴 본 결과 지방 결핍의 좋은 지표가 되고 불포화도, triene 과 tetraene의 비, 그리고 ${\omega}-6$ 계열과 ${\omega}-9$ 계열의 비에 있어서 큰 차이를 볼 수 있었다. 이들로 부터 성장초기에 지방함량을 조절한 식이에 의해 뇌 미토콘드리아 지질 조성이 크게 변하고 이에따라 미토콘드리아의 기능도 유의적인 영향을 받고 있음을 알 수 있었다.

  • Ketoprofen and ibuprofen are non-steroid anti-inflammatory drug(NSAID) that have analgesic and antipyretic properties. (S)-ketoprofen and (S)-ibuprofen have pharmacological activity, while (R)-ketoprofen and (R)-ibuprofen are either inactive or have side effect. The chiral separation of racemic ketoprofen and ibuprofen enantiomers was carried out by using a Kromasil HPLC column. Some chromatographic parameters (selectivity, resolution, number of theoretical plates and ${\Delta}H$) are calculated under different mobile phase compositions of hexane/t-BME/acetic acid and temperatures. The selectivity, resolution and number of theoretical plates were observed high at $25^{\circ}C$ and the composition of hexane/t-BME/acetic acid (80/20/0.1).

저진공 펄스 직류 전원 $BCl_3/SF_6$ 플라즈마를 이용한 GaAs/$Al_{0.2}Ga_{0.8}As$ 화합물 반도체의 선택적 식각 연구

  • 펄스 직류 전원 $BCl_3/SF_6$ 플라즈마를 이용하여 GaAs/$Al_{0.2}Ga_{0.8}As$의 선택적 식각을 연구하였다. 식각 주요 공정 변수는 $BCl_3/SF_6$ 플라즈마에서 $SF_6$ 가스 유량(0~50%)이었다. $BCl_3/SF_6$의 총 가스 유량은 20 sccm이었다. 다른 공정 조건인 공정 압력(100 mTorr), 펄스 파워(500 V), 펄스 주파수(200 kHz), 리버스 시간 (0.7 ${\mu}s$)은 일정하게 고정시켰으며 기계적 펌프만을 이용하여 공정을 진행하였다. 오실로스코프(Oscilloscope) 데이터에 의하면 가스의 조성 변화에도 척에 걸리는 입력 전압과 전류가 거의 변화가 없었다. $BCl_3/SF_6$ 가스가 10%의 조성에서 GaAs와 $Al_{0.2}Ga_{0.8}As$의 식각 선택비가 약 48 : 1로 우수한 결과를 나타내었다. 그러나 $BCl_3/SF_6$ 가스의 증가는 GaAs의 식각율과 선택도를 감소시켰다. 그리고 $SF_6$ 가스의 조성비가 30% 이상일 경우에는 GaAs와 $Al_{0.2}Ga_{0.8}As$가 식각되지 않았다. 식각 후에 GaAs의 표면 거칠기(RMS surface roughness)는 0.7~1.3 nm로 나타났다. 위의 결과들을 종합적으로 보면 펄스 직류 전원 $BCl_3/SF_6$의 조성비가 10%일 때 가장 좋은 식각 선택비를 얻을 수 있었다.

Improvement of the Phase Section Method for Multi-material Topology Optimization (다중 물질 위상최적설계를 위한 페이즈섹션 설계법 개선)

  • Recently, multi-material structural topology optimization is more critical because it provides reasonable solution to weight reduction challenges and can as well provide effective conceptual design. For conventional multi-material topology optimization (MMTO), the number of design variable increases when the number of candidate materials increases, and accordingly, a significant increase in computational time occurs. Therefore, MMTO with a single design variable, such as the phase section method (PSM) was proposed. This research is focused on improving the PSM, considering three major limitations: the composition ratio does not represent the area or volume ratio, design variables are not sufficiently concentrated to target values, and certain materials are created less than they are required. To address such limitations, the redefined composition ratio and adjusted parameters for better convergence are proposed. The validation of proposed modifications is verified via two- and three-dimensional numerical examples.

Prediction of Composition Ratio of DNA Solution from Measurement Data with White Noise Using Neural Network (잡음이 포함된 측정 자료에 대한 신경망의 DNA 용액 조성비 예측)

  • A neural network is utilized for preprocessing of de-noizing in electrocardiogram signals, retinal images, seismic waves, etc. However, the de-noizing process could provoke increase of computational time and distortion of the original signals. In this study, we investigated a neural network architecture to analyze measurement data without additional de-noizing process. From the dynamical behaviors of DNA in aqueous solution, our neural network model aimed to predict the mole fraction of each DNA in the solution. By adding white noise to the dynamics data of DNA artificially, we investigated the effect of the noise to neural network's predictions. As a result, our model was able to predict the DNA mole fraction with an error of O(0.01) when signal-to-noise ratio was O(1). This work can be applied as a efficient artificial intelligence methodology for analyzing DNA related to genetic disease or cancer cells which would be sensitive to background measuring noise.

Characteristics of tungsten nitride films deposited by reactive sputtering method (Reactive sputtering 방법으로 증착된 W nitride 박막의 특성)

  • We investigated the crystal structure, resistivity, and chemical states change of the tungsten nitride $(WN_x)$ films prepared by reactive sputtering method with various $N_2$ flow ratios. Crystal structures of $WN_x$ films deposited at the $N_2$ flow ratios of 20%, 40%, and 60% were bcc $\beta$-W, amorphous, and fcc $W_2$N, respectively. Surface roughness of $WN_x$ film was smallest when the $WN_x$ film is amorphous. After the air exposure of $WN_x$ films, $WO_3$ layer was formed at the surface of all samples. Both the nitrogen content of $WN_x$ film and the binding energy of W $4f_{7/2}$ peaks increased with increasing $N_2$ flow ratio. However, after $Ar^+$ ion etching, the shift of W $4f_{7/2}$ peaks was not observed with $N_2$ flow ratio due to the amorphization of the $WN_x$ film surface. The resistivity of $WN_x$ films increased with increasing $N_2$ flow ratio.

Manufacturing Techniques of Bronze Seated Bodhisattva Statue of Goseongsa Temple in Gangjin (강진 고성사 청동보살좌상의 제작기술 연구)

  • In this study, a study on the production technology of the Buddha statue and the production of raw material origin was conducted through scientific analysis on the Bronze seated Bodhisattva Statue of Goseongsa Temple, a treasure. As a result of microstructure analysis through a metal microscope, it was confirmed that the microstructure of the Bronze seated Bodhisattva Statue of Goseongsa Temple was a process-type dendritic structure, and the casting structure of bronze was well represented, so it was manufactured through casting. Subsequently, as a result of analyzing the alloy composition ratio through SEM-EDS, it was identified as a ternary alloy with 81.26 wt% of copper (Cu) and 16.42 wt% of tin (Sn) and 1.72 wt% of lead (Pb). The results of the analysis of lead isotope ratios using a thermal ionization mass spectrometer (TIMS) were substituted into the distribution of lead isotope ratios on the Korean Peninsula, it was shown in corresponding to Jeolla-do and Chungcheong-do regions and North and South Gyeongsang Province. This suggests that the raw materials used in their production were likely sourced from the mines around Goseong Temple in Gangjin. Despite the fact that the statue is a medium and large Buddha with a total height of 51 centimeters, 1.72 wt% of lead (Pb) was found as a result of alloy composition ratio analysis, which showed a similar composition to the lead content ratio of small bronze and gilt-bronze Buddha statues. Therefore, we compared and analyzed the results of the analysis of the composition ratio of the alloys of bronze and gilt bronze statues, which has been scientifically analyzed with a compositional age similar to that of the Bronze seated Bodhisattva Statue of Goseongsa Temple. Comparison results, Various factors, such as the size of the Buddha statue as well as its stylistic characteristics and the age of composition, may exist in determining the alloy composition ratio of the bronze and gilt bronze Buddha statues, and it was confirmed that the alloy composition ratio or casting technology was properly adjusted when the Buddha statue was created. In other words, it is judged that a more comprehensive system of Buddha statue production technology should be investigated by conducting archaeological and art history studies on stylistic characteristics and age of composition, as well as scientific analysis results such as observation of internal structure, microstructure observation, and analysis of alloy composition ratio using radiation transmission irradiation.

The Effects of Nordic Walking on Body Composition and Physical Fitness in Obese Women with Intellectual Disability (비만 지적장애 성인여성의 노르딕워킹이 신체조성 및 체력요인에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of the study was to investigate the effects of nordic walking on body composition and physical fitness in obese women with intellectual disability(ID). The subjects in experimental group(n=12) participated in nordic walking program for 12 weeks while those in control group(n=9) was controled not to participate in physical activities. After the training, weight, muscle mass and fat mass% showed significant improvement in experimental group. In physical fitness, strength, balance and coordination in experimental group showed significant improvement. In conclusion, these results suggest that nordic walking can be recommended as an effective intervention program to change body composition and to improve physical fitness in obese women with ID.

Seasonal Variation in Lipid Class and Fatty Acid Composition of 12 Species of Korean Fish (12종 어류의 지질 및 지방산 조성의 계절적 변화)

  • Seasonal variation in lipid classes and fatty acid compositions of total lipid (TL) of 12 species of Korean fish muscle, which caught off Tongyeong coast of the Southern Sea (Nam-Hae) from Mar, 1995 to Feb. 1996, was studied. Triglyceride (TG) and free sterol (ST) were prominent lipid classes of neutral lipid in all fish species. The percent of TG rose with increasing TL content by season, but that of ST fell. The prominent lipid classes of phospholipid were phosphatidylcholine (PC) and phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), percents of PC and PE were higher in the fish containing lower lipid. The prominent fatty acids in all fish species were 16:0 ($19.5\pm1.99\%$) 22:6 (n-3) ($16.6\pm7.46\%$), 18:1 (n-9) ($15.8\pm8.39\%$), 20:5 (n-3) ($8.46\pm3.70\%$), 16:1 (n-7) ($7.06\pm3.08\%$) and 14:0 ($3.80\pm2.15\%$). With increasing TL content by season, the percent of monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFA) such as 18:1 (n-9) and 16:1 (n-7) rose, but those of polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) such as 22:6 (n-3) and 20:5 (n-3) fell. There was a negative correlation between the percent of the MUFA and the PUFA of total fatty acids. However, the PUFA content increased as the TL content increased by season. On the other hand, the percent of 16:0 almost unchanged by seasonal variation of lipid content.
