An Empirical study on the analysis of the re-using of four-digit personal identification numbers - A university case (네 자리 숫자 비밀번호 재사용 실태 분석 연구 -A대학 사례연구)

  • This research aim is to investigate the rate and pattern of re-using the four-digit personal identification numbers(PINs). 1313 types of PINs were observed by 224 students who took this author's classes from last 2006 to 2011 at A-university. Some students used PINs as few as 3-4 and as many as 12-13. The average is 5.86 per person. The rates of re-using PINs were calculated by each student. 87%(195/224) of students reused PINs and 64% of them reused with just only one type of PINs, 20% reused with 2 types, and about 3% reused with 3-4 types. With respect to PINs, 884 out of the total 1313 PINs were reused, that is around 64.3%. In a broad sense, a pair of slight modification of PINs were also observed, that is, new PINs were partly matched in position or size of numbers of previous PINs. And if the reuse rate falling under the slight modification of PINs, 10.4% is added, about 75% of the PINs were reused in a broad sense. The re-using rate of male students is higher than the one of female students. This paper's results may provide to make plan for hacks of passwords.

The Analysis of the Prevention against Virus Infection in Dental Hygienist at Medical Treatment (치과위생사의 진료실 감염방지에 대한 행태 분석)

  • This research was based on self-filling survey which 128 dental hygienists who work in dental clinic and dental hospital on May 2006 through July 2006. This survey was analyzed the prevention against virus infection in dental hygienist at medical treatment. As follows analyzed results The experience of get a hand pricked by an infected needle rate is 76.6 percent and the majority of the dental hygienist are sterilize by disinfectant after wash hand and draw blood. The most of dental hygienist are experienced the education of the prevention infection in student and they think that It is necessary to prevention infection in medical treatment. The proportion of use the glove and mask in medical treatment and disuse the glove after medical treatment and the mask when mask get damped is high but the rate of put on the goggle in medical treatment and use the glove in washing and re-treat is low irrespective of age, clinical career, work place. As a result of Independent-sample T Test, the Hygienist who have experience the education of the prevention against virus infection are more excellent work than in-experience group in medical treatment. So we can find that the experience of the education of the prevention infection is very significant to prevention infection in dental hygienist.

Survey on Pesticide Use by Ginseng Growers at Gangwon Farmland in Korea (강원도 인삼재배지 농약 사용 실태)

  • This study aims to investigate if the properly use of pesticide in Ginseng farmland at Gangwon-do, Korea. Questionnaire included 36 questions such as control method for plant diseases, pests and weeds and pattern of pesticide use was answered by 271 Ginseng farmers lived in 4 cities and 8 counties at Gangwon-do. Ginseng farmers have noxious plant diseases, insects and weeds such as leaf spot, anthracnose, snail, stem-mining fly, horseweed and hairy crabgrass. To control of these, 35% of farmers relied on various type of pesticides and 31.5% of farmers used pesticides mingling with natural enemy, microorganism and organic materials. Farmers selected the pesticide based on the their own experiences or by recommendation of market dealers and neighbors, resulting in the use of inappropriate pesticides in the Ginseng farmland(78.8 % ). They followed standard dosage of the pesticide from Handbook of Pesticide Application(96.3%). They, however, used the same pesticides from 2 to 5 years(44.1 %). This consecutive use of pesticide could be induced resistance. This survey resulted that study for pesticide resistance and systematic educational program for proper use and selection of pesticide to Gingseng farmers should be conducted in farmland at Gangwon-do, Korea.

일부 폐경전 성인여성의 골밀도와 신체계측 및 식이인자에 관한 연구

  • 본 연구는 폐경전 성인여성들의 골격상태를 알아보고 신체계측 및 식이섭취실태가 골밀도에 미치는 영향을 평가하기 위해서 성인여성 61명을 대상으로 신체계측을 실시하고 24시간 회상법으로 영양소 및 주요 식품군의 식품섭취실태를 조사하고 DEXA를 사용하여 요추와 대퇴부 3부위의 골밀도를 측정하였다. 1) 대상자들의 평균 연령은 37세였으며, 평균 신장과 체중은 158.17cm, 54.55kg였으며, 평균 BMI와 WHR은 21.82, 0.78로 대상자들의 비만도는 정상이었다. 2) 평균 골밀도는 요추(L24) 1.04 g/$\textrm{cm}^2$, 대퇴경부 0.76g/$\textrm{cm}^2$, 대퇴전자부 0.66g/$\textrm{cm}^2$, 와드삼각부 0.69g/$\textrm{cm}^2$이었다. 3) T-score로 판정시 요추(L24)의 경우 골다공증군 3.28%, 골감소증군 14.75%, 대퇴경부의 경우 골다공증군 9.84%, 골감소증군 52.46%, 대퇴전자부의 경우 골다공증군 1.64%, 골감소증군 34.43%, 와드삼각부의 경우 골다공증군 6.56%, 골감소증군 45.90%였다. 4) 영양소중 칼슘(78.75%), 철분(69.75%) 및 비타민 A(92.17%) 영양소의 1일 평균 섭취량은 영양권장량보다 낮은 수준이었다. 5) 신체계측 및 영양소섭취량과 골밀도와의 상관관계분석에서 신체계측에서 체중(p < 0.05), 엉덩이둘레(p < 0.01), 제지방함량(p < 0.05), 총수분함량(p < 0.05)이 높을수록 요추골밀도가 유의하게 높았으나, 영양소섭취량은 골밀도와 유의한 상관성을 보이지 않았다. 6) 주요 식품군의 식품섭취실태와 골밀도와의 상관관계분석에서 버섯군의 식품섭취횟수(p < 0.05, p < 0.05)가 많을수록 요추(L3, L24)의 골밀도가 각각 유의하게 높았으며, 유지류군의 섭취식품수(p < 0.05)가 많을수록 와드삼각부의 골밀도가 유의하게 높았으나 곡류군의 섭취식품수(P < 0.01, p < 0.05, p < 0.05)가 많을수록 대퇴부 3부위 (대퇴경부, 대퇴전자부 및 와드삼각부)의 골밀도가 각각 유의하게 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 이상의 결과에서 폐경전 성인여성의 경우 요추보다는 대퇴부 3부위의 경우 골다공증이나 골감소증의 비율이 상대적으로 높았으며, 특히 대퇴경부에 있어서 골다공증이나 골감소증의 비율이 가장 높았음을 알 수 있다. 또한 요추와 대퇴부 3부위의 골밀도는 영양소섭취량과 유의한 상관관계를 보이지 않았으나 체중, 엉덩이둘레 등의 신체계측요인과 곡류군, 버섯군 및 유지류군 등의 주요 식품군의 식품섭취실태와 밀접한 상관관계를 보이고 있음을 알 수 있다. 따라서 성인여성에 있어서 골밀도손실을 예방하기 위해 평상시 적절한 체중유지와 아울러 식생활지침에 있어서 주요식품군별로 적절한 섭취식품의 수, 섭취량 및 섭취빈도에 대한 영양교육이 필요한 것으로 생각된다.

A Comparision on Frailty, Health Promotion Behavior, and Perceived Health Status in the Elderly according to the Type of Residency (거주유형별 노인의 허약정도, 건강증진 행위 및 주관적 건강상태 비교)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to classify frail and non-frail elderly and to investigate health promoting behaviors and perceived health status in the elderly according to the type of residency. Methods: This was a descriptive study. Data collection was performed from June 15th, 2009 to August 2nd, 2009. The subjects were selected at D city in Korea. Data was analyzed by descriptive statistics, $x^2$-test, and ANCOVA test with SPSS/Win 15.0 program. Results: 20.8% of the elderly living at home and 49.2% of those living in institution were frail. Frailty of the elderly living in institution was severer than those living at home. Non-frail elderly according to the type of residency showed higher scores of health promotion behavior and perceived health status than frail elderly. The elderly living at home showed higher scores of health promotion behavior than those living in institution. Conclusions: In the comparison study between the elderly living at home and institution, ratio of frail elderly among the elderly living in institution is high and health promotion behaviors are deficient as well. Frail preventive program for the elderly is needed to develop and apply in consideration of these findings.

Preparation and Characteristics of Bread by Medicinal Herb Composites with Immunostimulating Activity (면역활성을 가진 생약복합물을 이용한 빵의 제조 및 특성)

  • In this study, the breads with medicinal herbs (MH) composites showing immunostimulating activity were prepared and their characteristics were examined. Fourteen kinds of medicinal herbs were extracted with hot water and divided into 3 groups (MH-1, MH-2, MH-3) based on their contents. All groups showed immunostimulating activity in terms of macrophage phagocytosis, nitrite production, cytostatic activity and cytokine production. In the preparation of breads containing MH extracts of various contents (0, 30, 50, 70, and 100%), there was no significant difference among dough pHs of all groups after first fermentation, but loaf volume was significantly (p<0.05) increased in 70% added group while decreased in 30%, 50%, and 100% added groups compared to the control. The "a" and "b" values of bread crumb increased with the content of MH extracts while "L" value decreased, but these values of bread crust were similar to the control group. Most improvements in hardness, adhesiveness, gumminess and chewiness of bread were noticed by the addition of 70% MH extracts, but those of springiness, cohesiveness and resilience were mostly by the 50% addition ones. Through the sensory evaluation, it was revealed that mouth feeling, taste and overall preference decreased at breads containing 70% and 100% extracts, although appearance and crumb texture were not significantly (p<0.05) different among all groups.

Does the Layman Understand "the Whistling Sounds when Breathing out" as Real Wheezing? (일반인들은 숨쉴 때 "쌕쌕하는 소리"를 천명음으로 이해하는가?)

  • Background : Wheezing is an important clue in the diagnosis of asthma. Previously, a Korean National asthma survey used a written questionnaire, containing the question, "Have you ever experienced a breathing sound-like 'sack-sack' or a flute sound (the Korean description for wheezing) during the last 12 months?" The response to this question showed a large discrepancy between the prevalence of wheezing and physician diagnosed asthma. This might have resulted partly from a misunderstanding of the question, due to an inadequate description for wheezing. This study was aimed at finding how well the layman understands the term "wheezing" when described as a breathing sound-like 'sack-sack', a whistle or a flute. Subjects and method : Sixty subjects, without experience of wheezing(group I), and 45 subjects, with chronic cough alleging wheezing(group II), were recruited from the Hallym University's Sacred Heart Hospital, in Anyang, Korea. Four different breathing sounds; vesicular, wheezing, tracheobronchial and crackle, were played for the subjects, without any experience with wheezing, and they were asked "which sound is most like that you would imagine when asked about a breathing sound-like 'sack-sack', a whistle or a flute?" This was followed by replaying the true wheezing sound, and then a global assessment was requested for the concordance between the real wheezing sound and the imagined wheezing sound. The wheezing sound was played for those subjects alleging wheezing, and they were asked, "have you really experienced that sound". Results : Only 46.7% of group I answered correctly, with 13.3% choosing the vesicular sound, 16.7% the tracheobronchial sound, 5.0% the crackle and 18.3% failed to answer. The concordance between their imagined wheezing and the real sound was $69.3{\pm}22.4%(mean{\pm}S.D.)$. 77.8% of group II recognized the correct sound as the one they had experienced. Conclusions : Language is not sufficient to the layman for describing natural sounds, such as wheezing.
