  • Recently, a demand for reduction of construction cost by reducing construction period is increasing because of the slump of the construction business, the increasing price of raw-materials and the enforcement of after-sale system. As a method of reducing construction period, many construction companies usually apply a method of reducing curing period. But if they use an existing early strength cement or admixture, they spend a heavy cost on materials and there are many problems, such as a heat of hydration and a loss of workability. The purpose of this research is a reduction of construction cost by reducing construction period as a earlier removal time of form. To check up application of concrete using high early strength binder and admixture, comparative tests were carried out with concrete using an existing early strength cement or admixture such as tests of diurnal variation, setting time and compressive strength.

  • In this research, early strength development performance of early strength improvement type ordinary cement which is economically feasible early strength cement(Type III), improved early strength ordinary cement(Type I), was estimated to derive minimum curing temperature and proper water to cement ratio according to cement for early strength development through examination of fresh concrete properties and compressive strength according to water to cement ratio curing $10^{\circ}C$, $15^{\circ}C$ and $20^{\circ}C$ to suggest fundamental data for practical use of early strength concrete.

  • Ternary blended concrete(TBC), which contains both fly ash and granulated blast furnace slag, has an initial cost effective and is environment friendly. Furthermore, it has a lot of technical advantages such as the improvement of long term compressive strength, high workability, and the reduction of hydration heat. However, as the use and study on the performance of ternary blended concrete is limited, it is low short term compressive strength. This study was performed to evaluate the characteristics which are a long and short term compressive strengths, permeability and chemical attacks resistance of hardened high early concrete containing slag powder and fly-ash using high early strength cement(HE-TBC). Replacement rate of FA is fixed on 10% and replacement rate of slag powder are 0%, 10%, 20% and 30%. The test results showed that compressive and flexural strength of HE-TBC increased as the slag contents increased from 0% to 30% at the short term of curing. The permeability resistance of HE-TBC(fly ash 10%, blast 30%) was extremely good at the short and long terms. However, high early strength ternary blended concrete had weak on carbonation of chemical attack.

  • The decision of the form removal time which leads the early assuring strength of the concrete from apartment construction is the fact which is important from reducing the period of works and the economical efficiency side.   • In this study, The development characteristic of Modulus of Elasticity required to considering large deflection due to early the removal of forms for the reduction of working period of concrete is investigated. As a result of this study, it is found that the high early strength concrete is advantageous to compare with plain concrete on the early deflection.

  • This study was carried out to search for an effect on strengths of a pozzolan and a high-early strength cements due to accelerating the initial setting and a rate of strength development at early age, and to obtain the effects applicable for structural construction works safety in the cold winter weather. The results of the study were as follows: 1. The early strength of high-early strength cement was higher than an ordinary portland cement(Type I). 2. High-early strength cement had a characteristic suitable for construction works in the cold weather due to the rate of acceleration of the eary strength. 3. When using pozzolan cements, a weight proportion should be considered in mix design since the pozzolan cement has a lower specific gravity than other portland cements. 4. It was desirable for the pozzolan cement to shorten the storage period since particles of the pozzolan cement was so fine that it was likely to weathering.
