A Study on the Current Situation Analysis of Korean Logistics Industry and the Characteristics of Logistics Firms (국내 물류시장의 현황과 물류기업의 특성에 관한 연구 -내부거래비중을 중심으로-)

  • The purpose of this study is to have a main change of korea logistics industry analysis and take in the whole situation and the characteristics about a logistics firms. In korean logistics industry, The rate of a carriage is among the low-level as compared with the increasingly high prices for diesel. besides, a national logistics cost and the sales in the transportation industry has increased steadily. On the other hand, the number of trucks and transfer companies has decreased steadily. This change is attributed to expansion of logistics firm size through the limit on a raise in the number of trucks and introduction of a direct consignment system. But medium and small logistics firm size is dwindling in numbers. In the meantime, 2PL since early 2000s has rapidly rose as powerful players in logistics industry by a strong Support of the parent companies. Government and academia have long noted the limit and problems of 2PL system and emphasize on the necessity of activating the 3PL system. So this study divided broadly into two groups that the primary characteristics of korea logistics industry are 2PL and 3PL. Through the results of this study, the management and financial perspectives mean that there is a considerable difference between 2PL and 3PL.

  • Since 1990s, more and more enterprises outsource the logistics to reduce the cost and improve core competence, which bring the prosperity of 3PL, industry in China. However, some data shows that the service quality of 3PL is not good enough, there is only a few companies that can provide systematic service, and the satisfaction of the customer is very low. Besides, many enterprises choose 3PL service provider mainly based on the price. Although there are many papers on the logistics service quality, they mainly research on single part, Studies on the relation between the service quality and the partnerships of outsourcing are scarce. Therefore, this study tries to research the service quality, partnership and the relationship between them in China's 3PL industry systematically. On the foundation of the service quality and partnership theories by former researchers, taking present situation of China's 3PL industry into consideration, this paper constructs service quality and the partnership evaluation system and develops LSQ-PP model to examine the relation between the service quality and partnership. and then use the Structural Equation Model (SEM) to analysis the full sample of collected questionnaires. Finally, the thesis summarizes the conclusion and offers suggestions for practice and future research.

  • In this paper, the current problems of logistics industry in Korea and their possible solutions were discussed. With Korea Telecoms KT-Logis, the supplier and demander of logistics service would not have to invest large sum of money into their computer system. All they need is just a computer with internet connected. What KT-Logis influence on the logistics industry are the following; 1. Many logistics service supplier and demander can do the business on the web with one computer system. 2. This web based computer system does not only work on the office but also apply on the field worker such as delivery personnel or even the forwarder with mobile phone. 3. KT-Logis is an integrated system which cover the broad arrange of logistics management from truck management to customer relations management. 4. Finally, KT-Logis is web based systems which suits for current e-business and mobile environment. In future, more studies should be done to develop more progressive integrated logistics information systems with enterprise resource planning(ERP) and supply chain management(SCM).

  • The benefit of TPL(Third-party Logistics) is reduction of transportation time, accuracy, improved expertise knowledge and access to logistics information system, improved operational efficiency, improved customer service, ability to focus in core business and greater flexibility. On the contrary, the defect of TPL is loss of control, unreliable promise of the enterprise (provider),inability to respond to logistics system requirement, lack of understanding of the user business goals . This thesis aims to suggest the optimal strategic to improve the logistics system and to satisfy the customer needs and also aims to suggest the TPL method to strengthen the TPL companies. And strategic plan Total (enterprise-TPL-customer) Logistics Information System(TLSI) of TPL operation. focused on transportation service and mechanism to use GPS model.

  • The study is aiming to shed light on not only the influence of logistics output by choosing the third party logistics as the using of third party logistics has been increasing by the manufacturing firms also look over the effect between the factor of third party logistics' choosing and logistics performance in accordance with the changing of the logistics environment. As a result of the study, both service and fame factor among the third party logistics choosing factors have a significant impact on the logistics performance, furthermore the service factor of the logistics environment has an influence on the logistics performance by customer factor after measuring the control effect, and the fame factor has an influence on the logistics performance by both globaliztion and information system factor.

  • 지난 3월 25일 제5회 한국로지스틱스 대상 수상식에서 건설교통부 물류혁신본부는 국가 물류혁신에 기여한 공을 인정 받아 대상을 수상했다. 건설교통부 물류혁신본부(본부장 이성권)는 지난해 9월 발족 이후 건교부가 주로 담당해온 물류인프라의 확충 등 하드웨어적인 시책뿐 아니라, 물류산업 육성, 물류인력 양성 등 소프트웨어적인 시책을 집중적으로 추진, 국제 · 국내 물류, 민 · 관 · 학 분야를 포괄하는 물류 경쟁력 향상을 위한 종합적 지원업무를 수행하고 있다. 특히 물류혁신본부는 물류기업 경쟁력 향상과 제3자 물류 활성화 대책의 일환으로 종합물류기업인증제를 도입, 본격적인 시행에 들어갔으며 현재 부처별로 분산되어 있는 물류정책을 통합조정하기 위하여 물류정책기본법, 물류시설법 제정을 추진 중에 있다. 물류혁신본부의 수장인 이성권 물류혁신본부장은 지난 4월 7일 대한상공회의소가 주최한 조찬간담회에 연사로 참석하여 '물류 경쟁력 강화를 위한 정부 정책방향'이라는 주제로 발표하였다. 이에 그 내용을 요약 게재한다.
