Paper industry discharges many by-products and quantity of PSA (Paper sludge ash) has been increased. In this study, hydration water was added to PSA for use as cement admixture. PSA with added water was mixed with anhydrite and this mixture was used as cement substitute. Physical properties of PSA cement were changed by contents of PSA, but PSA cement containing PSA less than 10% had similar properties to those of OPC. Compressive strength of PSA cement mortar had a certain relationship with $Ca(OH)_2$ content. Compressive strength at 3 days increased, as $Ca(OH)_2$ content increased. However, the strength at 28 days increased, as $Ca(OH)_2$ content decreased.

The fly ash has been widely used in the latest to complement the performance and economical efficiency of the concrete which uses only a normal portland cement, the pulp ash gained through the incineration of paper sludge is possible to be used as the material of concrete because it contains the properties similar to the previous fly ash in ingredients and physical characteristics. Therefore, this research has tested physical characteristics by replacing 20% of fly ash used with the paper ash to solve the problem which lowers the early strength caused when the fly ash was used. As a result, it showed that the fluidity becomes lower and the compressive strength becomes increased by using paper ash. In addition, after mixing the paper ash with the fly ash, it showed that time and heating amount of the 2nd peak of the minor heat of hydration affecting the revelation of strength was equivalent to the combination for normal portland cement, and also indicated that the compressive strength for 3 days is superior to the combination of the fly ash. Therefore, if the paper ash having a regular fineness is used, it was effective in improving the early strength of concrete used the fly ash.

The purpose of this study is investigating characteristics of paper-ash mortar according to partial replacement of fine aggregate by Paper-ash. For this purpose, selected test variables were mixing ratio with two levels of mortar(1:2, 1:3), and 3 types of paper-ash(A, B, C), and paper-ash content with four levels(5%,, 10%, 15%, 20%). As a result of this study, in all mixes with partial replacement of fine aggregate by Paper-ash generally Produced Paper-ash mortar with decreased compressive strength at ail age as compared to ordinary mixes. The mixing rate 1:2 was the higher increasing rate of strength than the mixing rate 1:3. The flow value and unit weight of paper-ash mortar were decreased with increasing of the paper-ash content. And the thermal conductivity of the thermal conductivity of the paper-ash mortar was lower than normal mixing without paper-ash.
The southwestern part of Korean Peninsula, which length is about 13,000 km, is largely formed with soft cohesive soil ground and when it is developed, the low bearing capacity and excessive settlement of soft ground give many problems. In particular, a lot of clayey soil is deserted due to high moisture content and weakness, and areas formed with soft ground. In this study it was performed unconfined compression test, CBR tests, laboratory frost heaving test, and wheel tracking test in order to determine the optimum mixture ratio of paper sludge ash added chemical stabilizer with soft soil for consideration of its frost heaving and strength characteristics. As a results of the above experiments, when the soft soil is mixed with 6% of chemical stabilizer to improve the soft soil for utilizing as a subgrade soil material. It is satisfied the quality standard of fill materials, and the results of this research are expected to be used as an appropriate usage standard for utilization of on-site soil generated.

This paper described the evaluation results on unconfined compressive strength characteristics of CLSM with paper sludge ash, in order to develop a CLSM that can prevent sewer pipe damage. The flowability test and the unconfined compressive strength test were performed according to mix design condition of CLSM. The flowability test result showed that the water content, which can satisfy the flowability criteria, was 24% to 32% according to the mix design condition. The results of unconfined compressive strength test showed that the strength incremental ratio was high between 1 and 7 days of curing time, and the strength at this time was more than about 50% of the strength at 28 days of curing time. The strength of CLSM was greatly influenced by fly ash. However, it was analyzed that the mixture of paper sludge ash is required when the reference strength of CLSM is considered. Although the strength of the high cement ratio was higher than that of the low cement, a cement ratio of 5% would be a reasonable mix design condition of CLSM.
The purpose of this study was to manufacture sintered lightweight aggregate using paper sludge ash and to evaluate the qualities of the aggregate according to various mix proportions, conditions of pelletization and sintering. The paper sludge ash alone, due to its mineral and chemical compositions could not gain suitable expansion and strength. Hence, it was essential to add mineral additives such as clay, fly ash etc. The optimum muting ratio range determined in this study is as follows , paper sludge ash 30∼50 %, clay 30∼50 %, fay ash 0∼40 %, Paper sludge 0∼10% and hematite 2∼3 %(for manufacturing lightweight aggregate both for non-structural and structural concrete). It was possible to manufacture various lightweight aggregate whose dry specific gravity ranged about from 0.6 to 1.4 by using this optimum mixing ratio. From the test results of the qualities of aggregate, it showed that the 10% granules crushing value test and water absorption percentage ranged about 5∼10 ton and 10∼20%. Thus, it was favorably comparable to those of the imported aggregate. The manufactured lightweight aggregate could be used for structural concrete and non-structural concrete.

This study is the experiment for manufacturing the Lightweight non-cement matrix based on the Blast furnace slag. And, the matrix was manufactured matrix by generating the bubble just by the reaction of KOH that is the alkali accelerator and paper ash, instead of the general foaming agent, that is the waste managed of incineration the pulp sludge generated in the process of manufacturing the paper. Consequently, the density according to the addition rate of KOH represented the tendency to increase. And it showed up that density of the matrix adding KOH 22.5% was the lowest. As to the strength test result, strength following addition rate of KOH increased. Since the bubble is generated in the reaction of KOH and paper ash, this shows the very low intensity but it is determined to be the result that the amount of vacant space is decreased because the bubble generated in the mixture process comes up as the specific gravity difference.
This study was intended to use an incinerated paper mill sludge ash as cement alternatives in order to derive a method of utilizing the incinerated paper mill sludge ash of low utilization rate in large quantities. Also, the utilization possibility of incinerated paper mill sludge ash as the cement alternative was examined by mixing a polypropylene fiber and cellulose fiber and by considering its control effect for shrinkage cracks caused by an increase of absorption rate and hydration heat, as a weakness shown at the alternation of incinerated paper mill sludge ash.

In recent years, problems of industrial solid wastes appear to be kind of national crises, caused by a sudden increase in their quantities, lack of disposal technique, and public discontent in installing plants for their disposal. This study is designed to investigate that pozzolana-based materials, such as blast furnace slag, fly-ash, paper sludge-ash, which are produced from industries as solid wastes, can be used as construction materials. The variations of concrete strength in function of compositional differences of raw materials including the wastes are studied experimentally. As a result, we find out that the blast furnace slag, the fly-ash, and the paper sludge-ash can be recycled as useful resources for replacement of cements by adjusting their substitution ratio.
