A Study on Power Supply Method Design for Hot Standby Sparing System via Reliability Modeling (신뢰도모델링에 의한 이중계제어기 전원공급방식 설계에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper, we suggest those two design plans for power supply method of Hot Standby Sparing System; one is the plan using MTBF based on Constant Failure Rate, and the plan using Reliability Function is the other. Traditionally, RBD (Reliability Block Diagram) is used for reliability prediction which is required to meet any requirements before system operation. However, the system that has redundancy, such as Hot Standby Sparing System, Is not suitable for system reliability modeling using combination model, such as RBD. In this paper, therefore, we demonstrate that for redundancy controller, redundancy modeling design toward fault occurrence design is more effective to build up a system with higher reliability and achieve the effectiveness of loss cost due to maintenance and failure occurred in operation, rather than combinational modeling design.

  • The application area based on UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) is continuously increasing as time passing by. In particular the UAVs which consist of more than four horizontal propellers and the functionality of VTOL (Vertical Take-Off and Landing) are utilized in diverse platforms and the application products due to their safety and aerodynamically simpler design and architectures. The most UAV missions are controlled by GCSs (Ground Control System). The GCSs are generally connected to the internet and get electrical map and environmental information such as temperature, humidity, wind speed, wind direction and so on. In this paper, we design a system for UAV system to have capability of approaching to a certain ship and monitoring her efficiently by using AIS (Auto Identification System) information. Furthermore we verify that adapting AIS on GCS side is more efficient through experiments.

  • In this paper, the FPGA modem platform complying with 3GPP Release 7 eHSPA specifications and its regularized verification flow are proposed. The FFGA platform consists of modem board supporting physical layer requirements, MCU and DSP core embedded control board to drive the modem board, and peripheral boards for RF interfacing and various equipment interfaces. On the other hand, the proposed verification flow has been regularized into three categories according to the correlation degrees of hardware-software inter-operation, such as simple function test, scenario test call processing and system-level performance test. When it comes to real implementations, the emulation verification strategy for low power mobile SoC is also introduced.

Drone-based smart quarantine performance research (드론 기반 스마트 방재 방안 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to research the countermeasures and expected effects through the use of drones in the field of disaster prevention as a drone-based smart quarantine performance method. The environmental, market, and technological approaches to the review of the current quarantine performance task and its countermeasures are as follows. First, in terms of the environment, the effectiveness of the quarantine performance business using drone-based control is to broaden the utilization of forest, bird flu, livestock, facility areas, mosquito larvae, pests, and to simplify and provide various effective prevention systems such as AI and cholera. Second, in terms of market, the standardization of livestock and livestock quarantine laws and regulations according to the use of disinfection and quarantine missions using domestic standardized drones through the introduction of new technologies in the quarantine method, shared growth of related industries and discovery of new markets, and animal disease prevention It brings about the effect of annual budget savings. Third, the technical aspects are (1) on-site application of disinfection and prevention using multi-drone, a new form of animal disease prevention, (2) innovation in the drone industry software field, and (3) diversification of the industry with an integrated drone control / control system applicable to various markets. (4) Big data drone moving path 3D spatial information analysis precise drone traffic information ensures high flight safety, (5) Multiple drones can simultaneously auto-operate and fly, enabling low-cost, high-efficiency system deployment, (6) High precision that this was considered due to the increase in drone users by sector due to the necessity of airplane technology. This study was prepared based on literature surveys and expert opinions, and the future research field needs to prove its effectiveness based on empirical data on drone-based services. The expected effect of this study is to contribute to the active use of drones for disaster prevention work and to establish policies related to them.

Effectiveness of Real-time Oxygen Control in Fresh Produce Container Equipped with Gas-diffusion Tube (기체확산 튜브 부착 신선 농산물 용기에서의 실시간 산소농도 제어의 효과)

  • Simplified control logic was devised to fabricate and operate the modified atmosphere (MA) container of fresh produce equipped with gas-diffusion tube whose opening/closing was controlled in response to real time $O_2$ concentration. This is a simplified ramification of the previously developed control logic using both $O_2$ and $CO_2$ concentrations ([$O_2$] & [$CO_2$]). The developed logic was applied to and tested by a container system filled with spinach at $10^{\circ}C$ having optimum MA window of [$O_2$] of 7~10% and [$CO_2$] of 5~10%. It was shown that setting the proper on-off limit (11%) for $O_2$ control based on the assumed relationship $[O_2]+[CO_2]$=21% could attain the desired $CO_2$ concentration just below the upper tolerance limit ($[CO_2]_H$, 10%). The $O_2$ control point can be the lower tolerance limit or adjusted one (21-$[CO_2]_H$) depending on the commodity's MA requirement. The developed logic using single $O_2$ sensor could attain the equilibrated [$O_2$] of 11% with [$CO_2$] of 8~9% which was desired and similar to that of its predecessor ([$O_2$] of 9~10% with [$CO_2$] of 10%) using both $O_2$ and $CO_2$ sensors. Both MA containers (one only with single $O_2$ sensor control and one with $O_2$ and $CO_2$ sensors) could also keep the spinach quality without significant difference between them, but significantly better than perforated control package of air.

Headphone-based multi-channel 3D sound generation using HRTF (HRTF를 이용한 헤드폰 기반의 다채널 입체음향 생성)

  • In this paper we implement a headphone-based 5.1 channel 3-dimensional (3D) sound generation system using HRTF (Head Related Transfer Function). Each mono sound source in the 5.1 channel signal is localized on its virtual location by binaural filtering with corresponding HRTFs, and reverberation effect is added for spatialization. To reduce the computational burden, we reduce the number of taps in the HRTF impulse response and model the early reverberation effect with several tens of impulses extracted from the whole impulse sequences. We modified the spectrum of HRTF by weighing the difference of front-back spec01m to reduce the front-back confusion caused by non-individualized HRTF DB. In informal listening test we can confirm that the implemented 3D sound system generates live and rich 3D sound compared with simple stereo or 2 channel down mixing.

A Priority-based Feedback Control Mechanism for Scalability (확장적 우선 순위 피드백 제어 기법)

  • When a multicast video conference system utilizes RTP (Real Time Protocol) and RTCP (Real Time Control Protocol), the loss rate and the synchronization of transfer in RTCP affect the scalability of the system. The random delay technique introduced to resolve the problems is so simple that leads the network to meet some congestion in synchronizing feedback information when lots of people transfer the feedback information simultaneously, which reduces the scalability of system. In this paper, we propose a new feedback control algorithm that provides priority levels with the RTCP packet, which cuts down the feedback delay and increases the scalability. The criteria of providing priority Based on the decided priority level, Agent forced the session participants to provide much more RTCP packets, positively controlled, and the possible bandwidth can be measured. The simulation on this technique decreases the delay, and the feedback messages are equally distributed on a given time period.

  • A virtual enterprise (VE) can be mapped into a multi-agent system (MAS) that consists of various agents with specific role(s), communicating with each other to accomplish common goal(s). However, a MAS for enacting VE requires more advanced mechanism such as context that can guarantee autonomy and dynamism of VE members considering heterogeneity and complex structure of them. This paper is to suggest a context-based MAS as a platform for constructing and managing virtual enterprises. In the Context-based MAS a VE is a collection of Actor, Interaction (among Actors), Actor Context, and Interaction Context. It can raise the speed and correctness of decision-making and operation of VE enactment using context, i.e., information about the situation (e.g., goal, role, task, time, location, media) of Actors and Interactions, as well as simple data of their properties. The Context-based MAS for VE we proposed('VECoM') may consists of Context Ontology, Context Model, Context Analyzer, and Context Reasoner. The suggested approach and system is validated through an example where a VE tries to find a partner that could join co-development of new technology.

  • The multi robot operation technique has emerged as one of the most important research subjects that focus on minimizing redundancy in space exploration and maximizing the efficiency of operation. For an efficient operation of the multi robot systems, the movement of each Single robot in the multi robot systems should be properly observed and controlled. This paper suggests Multi Robot Management System to minimize redundancy in space exploration by assigning exploration space to each robot efficiently to take advantage of the RFID. Also, this paper has suggested fault tolerance technique that detects disable Single robot and substitute it by activated Single robot in order to ensure overall exploration and improve efficiency of exploration. Proposed system overcomes previous fault that it is difficult for central server to detect exact position of robot by using RFID system and Home Robot. Designated Home robot manages each Single robot efficiently and assigns the best suited space to Single robot by using RFID Tag Information. Proposed multi robot management system uses RFID for space assignment, Localization and Mapping efficiently and not only maximizes the efficiency of operation, but also ensures reliability by supporting fault-tolerance, compared with Single robot system. Also, through simulation, this paper proves efficiency of spending time and redundancy rates between multi robot management applied by proposed system and not applied by proposed system.

Memory Reduction of IFFT Using Combined Integer Mapping for OFDM Transmitters (CIM(Combined Integer Mapping)을 이용한 OFDM 송신기의 IFFT 메모리 감소)

  • FFT(Fast Fourier Transform) processor is one of the key components in the implementation of OFDM systems for many wireless standards such as IEEE 802.22. To improve the performances of FFT processors, various studies have been carried out to reduce the complexities of multipliers, memory interface, control schemes and so on. While the number of FFT stages increases logarithmically $log_2N$) as the FFT point-size (N) increases, the number of required registers (or, memories) increases linearly. In large point-size FFT designs, the registers occupy more than 70% of the chip area. In this paper, to reduce the memory size of IFFT for OFDM transmitters, we propose a new IFFT design method based on a combined mapping of modulated data, pilot and null signals. The proposed method focuses on reducing the sizes of the registers in the first two stages of the IFFT architectures since the first two stages require 75% of the total registers. By simulations of 2048-point IFFT design for cognitive radio systems, it is shown that the proposed IFFT design method achieves more than 38.5% area reduction compared with previous IFFT designs.
