  • This paper addresses how model checking methods can be applied to utilization analysis of system. Measuring a system performance using simulation is an easy task but finding the bottleneck in a certain system is not an easy task. Especially, system is getting complicated and interacts with other systems, which makes the analysis very difficult. As an alternative approach, we show that can specify system utilization properties using temporal logic, and can find a reason of a system performance drop easily using model checking.

  • Chromosomes, as the genetic vehicles, provide the basic material for a large proportion of genetic investigations. The human chromosome analysis is widely used to diagnose genetic disease and various congenital anomalies. Many researches on automated chromosome karyotype analysis has been carried out, some of which produced commercial systems. However, there still remains much room for improving the accuracy of chromosome classification. In this paper, we propose an optimal pattern classifier by neural network to improve the accuracy of chromosome classification. The proposed pattern classifier was built up of two-step multi-layer neural network(TMANN). We are employed three morphological feature parameters ; centromeric index(C.I.), relative length ratio(R.L.), and relative area ratio(R.A.), as input in neural network by preprocessing twenty human chromosome images. The results of our experiments show that our TMANN classifier is much more useful in neural network learning and successful in chromosome classification than the other classification methods.

  • PLCs are special purpose microcontrollers used in most automatic control systems such as plants, embedded systems, and intelligent buildings. LD is one of the most popular languages among PLC languages. For now LD programs are mainly verified by simulation and testing which has a lot of limitation. This paper describes how to translate a given LD program into an input of a model checker so that LD program is verified by model checking. We define formal semantics of LD programs and SMV models and specify a formal definition of the translation function which preserves semantics between LD programs and SMV models.

  • Due to their convergence with state-of-the-art ICT technologies, the complexity and reliability demands of industrial automation systems have been rapidly increasing. In recent years, to cope with these demands, several research works have been carried out to adopt formal methods to the application development cycle at the early design stage. In this paper, we propose an automated code generation framework for industrial automation applications, based on a timed automata model. As a case study, we developed a formal model for a traffic light control system and verified the timing properties described in the specification. We finally demonstrated that the operation of a test-bed based on the auto-generated native code was identical to that of the model specification.

  • Push-pull structure with balun transformer is presented for load modulation technique which improves the overall efficiency of power amplifier Under the assumption that output impedance of fumed-off amplifier is high, conventional Doherty amplifier is composed of impedance inverter and peaking amplifier, of which operation is controlled by the input power level. In many case, however, impedance of 'off'amplifier is very low due to matching network or parasitic output capacitance. This paper introduces novel load modulation technique which uses low output impedance of 'off'amplifier. Experimental results show that good linearity and efficient!'enhancement of the proposed push-pull structure

  • UML activity diagram is useful to model business process and workflow by reason of its suitability to present dynamic aspect of system. However it Is difficult to present precise semantics which is taken as important in workflow system with the guide provided by OMG to the UML activity diagram. This paper suggests workfolw system modelling methodology by applying ASM semantics to the activity diagram after extending its semantics to correspond to workflow system characteristics. Through the exact definition to formal semactics based on ASM it is possible to effectively model workflow.

  • As a variety of personal medical devices appear, it is possible to acquire a large number of diverse medical contexts from the devices. There have been efforts to analyze the medical contexts via software applications. In this paper, we propose a generic model of medical analytics schemes that are used by medical experts, identify inference methods for realizing each medical analytics scheme, and present guidelines for applying the inference methods to the medical analytics schemes. Additionally, we develop a PoC inference system and analyze real medical contexts to diagnose relevant diseases so that we can validate the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed medical analytics schemes and guidelines of applying inference methods.

  • This paper presents a novel linearization scheme for a nonlinear RF amplifier It is based on the amplitude modulation with envelope signal. The 3rd order distortion generator is composed of two FETs and it adopts a balanced structure for the purpose of main carrier cancellation. The amplitude and phase of the IM3 component can be controlled at RF band. This predistorter is implemented and tested at the KOREA PCS Tx. band (1840∼1870MHz). Experimental results of two-tone test show that the IM3 cancellation is achieved about 30-40 ㏈ for the wide dynamic range. The adjacent channel power ratio is improved by over 10 ㏈ at the broad-band CDMA signal with a peak to average power ratio of l0㏈, and this improvement is maintained through a wide range of output power levels.

  • In this paper we formally define the linear detrending subsequence matching and propose its efficient index-based solution. To this end, we first present the notion of LD-windows. We eliminate the linear trend from a subsequence rather than each window itself and obtain LD-windows by dividing the subsequence into windows. Using the LD-windows we present a lower bounding theorem of the index-based solution and formally prove its correctness. Based on this lower bounding theorem, we then propose the index building and subsequence matching algorithms, respectively. Finally, we show the superiority of our index- based solution through experiments.

  • Hybrid system is a dynamic system that is composed of both a continuous and discrete system, suitable for automobile, avionic and defense systems. Various modeling languages and their supporting tools have been proposed and used in the hybrid system. The languages and tools have specific characteristics for their purpose. Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) proposed a hybrid system modeling language, ECML (ETRI CPS Modeling Language). ECML extends DEV&DESS (Differential Event and Differential Equation Specified System) formalism with consideration of CPS (Cyber-Physical System), which supports modeling and simulation. In this paper, we introduce ECML and suggest a formal definition. The case study specifies a simple vehicle model using the suggested formal definition.
