  • IT기술의 발전으로 다양한 디바이스들이 출현하고 있고, 디바이스들의 디스플레이 크기와 해상도가 증가하는 경향을 보임에 따라 파노라마 영상에 대한 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 현 상황에서 영상 소비 목적과 사용 디바이스에 맞는 영상을 제공하기 위하여 불특정 해상도를 가진 영상들을 정합하여 파노라마 영상을 제작하는 것이 필수적이다. 이와 같은 파노라마 영상을 제작하기 위해서는 영상 간 스티칭 기술이 필요하며, 해당 스티칭 기술은 영상 전체에 대한 정보를 사용하기 때문에 많은 시간이 소요된다. 이러한 문제점을 해결하기 위하여, 스티칭 대상 영역을 특정하는 영상 간 공간유사도 평가를 활용하면 스티칭 시간의 감소를 가져올 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 추출된 특징점을 대상으로 삼각형 닮음 조건을 적용하여 영상 간 공간유사도를 평가하는 알고리즘을 개발하고자 한다.

HRXRD를 이용한 InGaN/GaN 다중 양자우물 구조의 우물 두께에 따른 구조적 특성변화 연구

  • 우물두께가 각각 1.5, 3.0, 4.5, 6.0 nm이고 장벽두께가 7.5 nm로 일정한 10 주기의 In0.15Ga0.8SN/GaN 다중 양자우물 구조(MQW)의 구조적 특성변화를 HRXRD(high resolution X-ray diffraction)를 이용하여 조사하였다. 구조적 특성변화를 살펴보기 위해 GaN (0002) 회절면의 ω/2θ-scan과 ω-scan 그리고 GaN (10-15) 역격자점 주위의 산란강도 분포도를 측정하였다. 우물두께가 증가할수록 시료의 평균변형률이 증가하였고, 우물두께가 1.5, 3.0, 4.5 nm인 MQW는 GaN 에피층과 격자정합을 이루며 성장된 반면 6.0 nm인 시료에서는 격자이완이 나타나 결정성이 저하된 것을 확인할 수 있었다. (그림 1) 따라서 본 연구에서 사용한 시료에서 6.0 nm의 우물두께가 격자이완의 임계두께임을 알 수 있었다. PL(photoluminescence) 스펙트럼 결과를 통하여 6.0 nm 우물두께의 시료가 다른 시료에 비하여 상대발광강도가 낮아지는 것을 관찰하였으며 이것은 XRD를 이용한 시료의 결정성 변화와 잘 일치하였다. (그림 2) 따라서 PL 발광강도는 격자이완에 의하여 생성된 결함에 의하여 영향을 받는 것을 알 수 있었다.

A Study on the Contents for Operation of Tunnel Management Systems Using a View Synthesis Technology (영상정합 기술을 활용한 터널관리시스템의 운영 효율성 제고를 위한 콘텐츠 연구)

  • In South Korea, there are a large number of tunnels because of the mountainous terrain, and to overcome this characteristics, lengths of tunnels are more longer than existing tunnels. The need to improvement current tunnel management contents is giving rise for accidents in tunnel section is continuously increased although lots of efforts to reduce the accidents. Conventionally, disaster prevention have been focused on the Tunnel Management Systems, tunnel operators generally tend to depend on CCTV images for most contents of detailed traffic flow managing. In this paper, investigation about current Tunnel Management Systems contents using IPA survey was conducted, and Priority Improvement Contents(Accident Situation Management Support, 2nd Accident Management Support, Traffic Flow Monitoring), which importance are high, but satisfaction are low, are deducted. Also, CCTV images, lack intuitive understanding, are judged as a main cause of low satisfaction of those contents. To overcome those limitations of the existing Tunnel Management Systems, this study sought to develop a technology for the synthesis of road images to derive traffic information from synthesis images, and the contents improvement stragegy is established. Tunnel operators-oriented satisfaction survey on new contents was carried out, and scored 4.2 on a 5-point scale. This has confirmed that the availability of new contents and at this stage, with pushing ahead of long-tunnels and undersea tunnels construction, politic applications are expected.

Matching and Geometric Correction of Multi-Resolution Satellite SAR Images Using SURF Technique (SURF 기법을 활용한 위성 SAR 다중해상도 영상의 정합 및 기하보정)

  • As applications of spaceborne SAR imagery are extended, there are increased demands for accurate registrations for better understanding and fusion of radar images. It becomes common to adopt multi-resolution SAR images to apply for wide area reconnaissance. Geometric correction of the SAR images can be performed by using satellite orbit and attitude information. However, the inherent errors of the SAR sensor's attitude and ground geographical data tend to cause geometric errors in the produced SAR image. These errors should be corrected when the SAR images are applied for multi-temporal analysis, change detection applications and image fusion with other sensor images. The undesirable ground registration errors can be corrected with respect to the true ground control points in order to produce complete SAR products. Speeded Up Robust Feature (SURF) technique is an efficient algorithm to extract ground control points from images but is considered to be inappropriate to apply to SAR images due to high speckle noises. In this paper, an attempt is made to apply SURF algorithm to SAR images for image registration and fusion. Matched points are extracted with respect to the varying parameters of Hessian and SURF matching thresholds, and the performance is analyzed by measuring the imaging matching accuracies. A number of performance measures concerning image registration are suggested to validate the use of SURF for spaceborne SAR images. Various simulations methodologies are suggested the validate the use of SURF for the geometric correction and image registrations and it is shown that a good choice of input parameters to the SURF algorithm should be made to apply for the spaceborne SAR images of moderate resolutions.

An Efficient Scene Change Detection Algorithm Considering Brightness Variation (밝기 변화를 고려한 효율적인 장면전환 검출 알고리즘)

  • As the multimedia data increases, various scene change detection algorithms for video indexing and sequence matching have been proposed to efficiently manage and utilize digital media. In this paper, we propose a robust scene change detection algorithm for video sequences with abrupt luminance variations. To improve the accuracy and to reduce the computational complexity of video indexing with abrupt luminance variations, the proposed algorithm utilizes edge features as well as color features, which yields a remarkably better performance than conventional algorithms. In the proposed algorithm first we extract the candidate shot boundaries using color histograms and then determine using edge matching and luminance compensation if they are shot boundaries or luminance changes. If the scene contains trivial brightness variations, the edge matching and luminance compensation are performed only for shot boundaries. In experimental results, the proposed method gives remarkably a high performance and efficiency than the conventional methods with the similar computational complexity.

Hand posture recognition robust to rotation using temporal correlation between adjacent frames (인접 프레임의 시간적 상관 관계를 이용한 회전에 강인한 손 모양 인식)

  • Recently, there is an increasing need for developing the technique of Hand Gesture Recognition (HGR), for vision based interface. Since hand gesture is defined as consecutive change of hand posture, developing the algorithm of Hand Posture Recognition (HPR) is required. Among the factors that decrease the performance of HPR, we focus on rotation factor. To achieve rotation invariant HPR, we propose a method that uses the property of video that adjacent frames in video have high correlation, considering the environment of HGR. The proposed method introduces template update of object tracking using the above mentioned property, which is different from previous works based on still images. To compare our proposed method with previous methods such as template matching, PCA and LBP, we performed experiments with video that has hand rotation. The accuracy rate of the proposed method is 22.7%, 14.5%, 10.7% and 4.3% higher than ordinary template matching, template matching using KL-Transform, PCA and LBP, respectively.

  • A time-reversal mirror (TRM) is useful in diverse areas, such as reverberation ing, target echo enhancement and underwater communication. In underwater communication, the bit error rate has been improved significantly due to the increased signal-to-noise ratio by spatio-temporal focusing. This paper deals with two issues. First, the optimal number of array elements for a given environment was investigated based on the exploitation of spatial diversity. Second, an algorithm was developed to determine the optimal location of the given number of array elements. The formulation is based on a genetic algorithm maximizing the contrast between the foci and area of interest as an objective function. In addition, the developed algorithm was applied to the matched field processing with ocean experimental data for verification. The sea-going data and simulation showed almost 3 dB improvement in the output power at the foci when the array elements were optimally distributed.

Fast Fingerprint Alignment Method and Weighted Feature Vector Extraction Method in Filterbank-Based Fingerprint Matching (필터뱅크 기반 지문정합에서 빠른 지문 정렬 방법 및 가중치를 부여한 특징 벡터 추출 방법)

  • Minutiae-based fingerprint identification systems use minutiae points, which cannot completely characterize local ridge structures. Further, this method requires many methods for matching two fingerprint images containing different number of minutiae points. Therefore, to represent the fired length information for one fingerprint image, the filterbank-based method was proposed as an alternative to minutiae-based fingerprint representation. However, it has two shortcomings. One shortcoming is that similar feature vectors are extracted from the different fingerprints which have the same fingerprint type. Another shortcoming is that this method has overload to reduce the rotation error in the fingerprint image acquisition. In this paper, we propose the minutia-weighted feature vector extraction method that gives more weight in extracting feature value, if the region has minutiae points. Also, we Propose new fingerprint alignment method that uses the average local orientations around the reference point. These methods improve the fingerprint system's Performance and speed, respectively. Experimental results indicate that the proposed methods can reduce the FRR of the filterbank-based fingerprint matcher by approximately 0.524% at a FAR of 0.967%, and improve the matching performance by 5% in ERR. The system speed is over 1.28 times faster.

  • 얼굴표정 인식은 심리학 연구, 얼굴 애니메이션 합성, 로봇공학, HCI(Human Computer Interaction) 등 다양한 분야에서 중요성이 증가하고 있다. 얼굴표정은 사람의 감정 표현, 관심의 정도와 같은 사회적 상호작용에 있어서 중요한 정보를 제공한다. 얼굴표정 인식은 크게 정지영상을 이용한 방법과 동영상을 이용한 방법으로 나눌 수 있다. 정지영상을 이용할 경우에는 처리량이 적어 속도가 빠르다는 장점이 있지만 얼굴의 변화가 클 경우 매칭, 정합에 의한 인식이 어렵다는 단점이 있다. 동영상을 이용한 얼굴표정 인식 방법은 신경망, Optical Flow, HMM(Hidden Markov Models) 등의 방법을 이용하여 사용자의 표정 변화를 연속적으로 처리할 수 있어 실시간으로 컴퓨터와의 상호작용에 유용하다. 그러나 정지영상에 비해 처리량이 많고 학습이나 데이터베이스 구축을 위한 많은 데이터가 필요하다는 단점이 있다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 실시간 얼굴표정 인식 시스템은 얼굴영역 검출, 얼굴 특징 검출, 얼굴표정 분류, 아바타 제어의 네 가지 과정으로 구성된다. 웹캠을 통하여 입력된 얼굴영상에 대하여 정확한 얼굴영역을 검출하기 위하여 히스토그램 평활화와 참조 화이트(Reference White) 기법을 적용, HT 컬러모델과 PCA(Principle Component Analysis) 변환을 이용하여 얼굴영역을 검출한다. 검출된 얼굴영역에서 얼굴의 기하학적 정보를 이용하여 얼굴의 특징요소의 후보영역을 결정하고 각 특징점들에 대한 템플릿 매칭과 에지를 검출하여 얼굴표정 인식에 필요한 특징을 추출한다. 각각의 검출된 특징점들에 대하여 Optical Flow알고리즘을 적용한 움직임 정보로부터 특징 벡터를 획득한다. 이렇게 획득한 특징 벡터를 SVM(Support Vector Machine)을 이용하여 얼굴표정을 분류하였으며 추출된 얼굴의 특징에 의하여 인식된 얼굴표정을 아바타로 표현하였다.

Low Resolution Depth Interpolation using High Resolution Color Image (고해상도 색상 영상을 이용한 저해상도 깊이 영상 보간법)

  • In this paper, we propose a high-resolution disparity map generation method using a low-resolution time-of-flight (TOF) depth camera and color camera. The TOF depth camera is efficient since it measures the range information of objects using the infra-red (IR) signal in real-time. It also quantizes the range information and provides the depth image. However, there are some problems of the TOF depth camera, such as noise and lens distortion. Moreover, the output resolution of the TOF depth camera is too small for 3D applications. Therefore, it is essential to not only reduce the noise and distortion but also enlarge the output resolution of the TOF depth image. Our proposed method generates a depth map for a color image using the TOF camera and the color camera simultaneously. We warp the depth value at each pixel to the color image position. The color image is segmented using the mean-shift segmentation method. We define a cost function that consists of color values and segmented color values. We apply a weighted average filter whose weighting factor is defined by the random walk probability using the defined cost function of the block. Experimental results show that the proposed method generates the depth map efficiently and we can reconstruct good virtual view images.
