Study for generation of standard EM field using 8 ports-variable wave impedance generator (8단자 가변 임피던스 전자파 발생 장치를 이용한 표준 복사 전자기장 조성 연구)

  • A desing technique of 8 ports variable wave impedance generator (8P-VWIG) is described. The design technique employs not only a numerical algorithm to find the structure with arbitrary characteristic impedance, but also a numerical solution to analyze the uniform elementrognentic fields established inside the generator. The 8P-VWIG so obtained is shown to have good performance with the VSWR of less than 1.4 at any frequency of interest below which higher order mode begin to propagate. The measured first resonant frequency is 152.1 MHz. The 8P-VWIG is designed based on the concept of an expanded multi-transmission line(8 channel). It is especially useful for the electronmagnetic interference(EMI) and electronmagnetic susceptibility(EMS) testing since it maximizes usable test crosssectional area, and its is easy change the polarization, vertical or horizontal, of field.

  • In this paper, a dual polarization patch antenna operates at the wide bandwidth of 1.525GHz~1.665GHz was designed and fabricated. To obtain the wide bandwidth and high gain, increased height of air floor from GND was applied, and to get wide band axial ratio and high gain, parasitic patch was applied. The simulation and measurement showed good agreements, the VSWR was less than 1.9 at the frequency bandwidth, the return loss was less than -10dB, and the LHCP(Left Hand Circular Polarization) and RHCP(Right Hand Circular Polarization) isolation was less than -13dB at the frequency bandwidth.

  • This paper is to verify the availability of the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method for the analysis of millimeter wave microstrip patch antenna. Using this method, the size of the microstrip patch antenna resonating at 32.153 GHz is optimized and the input impedance, the voltage standing wave ratio and the radiation pattern are calculated. The resonance frequencies of the microstrip patch antenna are calculated by MOM and FDTD method and then compared with the measured results, showing the difference of 12.27% and 1.27% respectively. Also, the bandwidth of this Ka-band patch antenna is about 8% which is similar to the case of X-band.

  • In this paper, a super wideband printed dipole antenna operating in the band of 1-15 GHz is studied. A semi-circular-shaped dipole element is used to obtain a super wideband characteristic. Optimal design parameters are obtained by analyzing the effects of the gap between the two arms of the semi-circular-shaped dipole and the radius of the semi-circle on the input reflection coefficient and gain characteristics. The optimized printed semi-circular-shaped dipole antenna is fabricated on an FR4 substrate with a dimension of $100mm{\times}100mm$. Experimental results show that the antenna has a desired super wideband characteristic with a frequency band of 1-15 GHz (bandwidth ration 15:1, 175%) for a VSWR < 2.

  • In this paper, a design method for a compact log-periodic half-bow-tie dipole array antenna for an operation in UWB band is studied. The proposed antenna is miniaturized by using half-bow-tie shaped dipole elements instead of strip-type dipole elements, which are commonly used in general log-periodic dipole array antenna, and by reducing the element spacing. The effects of the flare angle of the half-bow-tie elements and the element spacing on input reflection coefficient and realized gain characteristics of the proposed log-periodic antenna are analyzed. The optimized antenna is designed on FR4 substrate, and it operates in the frequency band of 3.05-13.96 GHz for a VSWR < 2, which assures the operation in the UWB band.

  • In this project, we have developed various techniques for subminiaturization, surface implementation, high frequency design, small-sizes SMD, performance test and applications of ultra small chip antenna, which is a core component for the personal communication systems. We also obtained base techniques for the next-generation ultra small chip antenna design and fabrication techniques for an internationally competitive subminiature ultra small chip antenna. Center frequency is 2442.5MHz(Type), return loss is -10dB max, VSWR is 2max, xy max gain is -2dB min, size is 0.05ccmax.

  • We proposed to a new method of the aperture coupled microstrip antenna with T-shaped feeding slot. We analyzed method of enhancing the bandwidth of the antenna using FDTD. And the antenna parameters are optimized to get maximum bandwidth. We also calculated the progress process of waves and the distribution of electric field in the time domain. We also calculated return loss, VSWR, input impedance, radiation pattern in the frequency domain by Fourier transforming the time domain results, respectively. It was found that the bandwidth of this antenna changes length and width of the patch, length and width of the slot, length of T-shaped feedline, position of the offset. Measured % bandwidth was 49.2 % in the center frequency 2.5 GHz. These results were in relatively food accordance with calculated values.

  • This paper maximizes the research on broadband characteristics by using air layer instead of using microstrip structure of radiation part with U-shaped slot patched inside and microstrip antenna in order to make the microstrip antenna to have broadband characteristics. Experimental results show that the VSWR is 1.4 or less than the mobile communication frequency band(820~950MHz) and the gain of the antenna is 8.2dBd. This means that the antenna can be miniaturized, and it can be used in the wireless communication fields, and the mobile communication fields for other frequency bands in the future.

  • In this paper, a wideband loop antenna is designed using a CPW feeding method for indoor digital TV applications. The proposed loop antenna consists of a square loop and two circular sectors which connect the loop with central feed points, and the CPW feed line is inserted in the lower circular sector. The CPW feed line is designed to match with the 75 ohm port impedance for DTV applications, and the ground slots are etched in order to improve the impedance matching in the middle frequency region. The optimized antenna is fabricated on FR4 substrate, and the experiment results show that it operates in the frequency band of 463-1,280 MHz for a VSWR < 2, which assures the operation in the DTV band.

  • In this paper, a new planar folded UHF band RFID reader antenna is suggested. For the antenna suggested in this paper, 4 PIFA (Planar Inverted F Antenna) micro-strip structures are adopted. The size is $50mm{\times}50mm{\times}6.2mm$. The gain of the antenna is 1.1 dBi, the VSWR is 1.2:1, and the efficiency is 63.3 %. The radiation pattern is designed as upper direction. Identification distance for the RFID tags is improved by minimizing hand effects with properly integrating 4 PIFAs.
