This study evaluated the actual status of special needs of the hearing-impaired person for disaster response. The analysis revealed a significant level of unmet needs in disaster response for hearing-impaired person. The 5 special needs in disaster response include: 1) communication needs, which involve securing the means to make an emergency rescue request and communicating information during the rescue process; 2) transportation needs, which indicate the effective evacuation capacity and the level of training; 3) medical needs, which address the degree of preparedness for physical and mental emergency measures and the delivery of health information for rescue and first aid process; 4) maintaining functional independence needs, which refer to the level of self-preparedness to minimize damage in disaster situations, and; 5) supervision needs, which correspond to a personalized support system provided to disaster-vulnerable groups.
Objectives: To evaluate the reliability of a pattern identification tool for benign prostatic hyperplasia and to examine the relationship between pattern identification tool readings and IPSS and uroflowmetry. Methods: We analyzed 56 patients diagnosed with benign prostatic hyperplasia from December 27th, 2017 to December 26th, 2018 by two different Korean medical doctors and followed with a pattern identification tool and by IPSS and uroflowmetry. One week later, the patients were retested to analyze the reliability of the pattern identification tool, determined with the intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) using the test-retest method. The correlation between IPSS and uroflowmetry was analyzed with the Pearson coefficient. Result: The reliability of the pattern identification tool for benign prostatic hyperplasia was evaluated as "poor agreement beyond chance" (ICC=0.349). The reliability of each pattern identification score was evaluated as "good" for Yang Deficiency of Kidney, Yin Deficiency of Kidney, Deficiency of Middle Qi, and Dampness-heat of Lower Energizer. The internal consistency was evaluated as "good" for Yang Deficiency of Kidney, Yin Deficiency of Kidney, and Dampness-heat of Lower Energizer, and as "excellent" for Deficiency of Middle Qi. The correlation between pattern identification and IPSS was evaluated as a "moderate positive correlation" for all pattern identifications. The average flow rate and maximum flow rate using uroflowmetry was evaluated with "moderate negative correlation" for Yang Deficiency of Kidney and Dampness-heat of Lower Energizer. Conclusion: The reliability of a pattern identification tool for benign prostatic hyperplasia was evaluated as "poor agreement beyond chance." Further research is needed.
Total knee arthroplasty is performed widely in degenerative arthritis of the knee joint, and the frequency of use is increasing. Efforts should be made to achieve functional recovery, such as returning to daily life, and the recovery of strength and range of motion after surgery. The procedure should be approached from a range of perspectives, such as patient factors, surgical technique and rehabilitation. The patient's age, degree of obesity, sex, and strength of the quadriceps muscle can affect the functional recovery after surgery. In addition, the patient's mental state, such as expectation value and satisfaction, can also have an effect. For functional recovery, patient education, pain control, and strengthening of the quadriceps muscle can be performed prior to surgery. Postoperative physiotherapy, such as icing and compression, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation therapy, neuromuscular electrical stimulation therapy, low frequency low intensity magnetic field therapy, strengthening of quadriceps muscle, and range of motion exercise can also be applied. In recent years, hydrotherapy, which restores the strength and balance of the leg, is being performed increasingly. These treatments are not only performed shortly after surgery, but are also performed continuously. In addition, the surgeon should apply it appropriately considering the patient's condition, compliance, and social and psychological conditions.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the standardization of daily average smartphone use time among adolescents. The data were analyzed using the data from Korea youth risk behavior web-based survey of 2017, and the total number of students analyzed was 54,603. Frequency analysis, independent t test, Pearson correlation analysis, and one-way ANOVA were used for statistical analysis. As a result, the correlation coefficient between smartphone use time, age, and grade was very low (r =.025~.039). There was no significant difference in the usage of smartphone between middle and high school students(p>.05). Time of smartphone use was significantly higher in middle school students as the grade increased(p<.05). In high school students, second-year students had significantly more smartphone usage than first and third grade students(p<.05). The researchers described 54603 adolescents' average(minute) daily smartphone usage about sex(male, female), period of use(weekday, weekend), school(middle school, high school), and grade(first, second, third) as a 7th quartile. We suggest that the standard value of smartphone use time can be used as a basis for the physical and mental health management in adolescents. It is necessary to present a standard value that can prove the future overuse of smartphone.

Objective : This study aimed to develop an information and communication technology (ICT)-based, non-face-to-face lifestyle program for older adults and assess its applicability. Methods : The program was developed on the basis of the ADDIE model which comprises 5 stages: analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. In this study, a step-by-step identification was performed in 8 stages. Results : The results of the program analysis showed a significant decrease in depressive symptoms and loneliness scores, and an increased quality of life scores. Conclusion : The findings suggest that the ICT-based non-face-to-face lifestyle program developed in this study can motivate older adults to better understand their lifestyles for successful aging, while helping senior citizen centers resume stagnant projects.
Objectives: To evaluate the effectiveness of Mindfulness & Loving Beingness (M&L) psychotherapy combined with traditional Korean medicine in treating acute sleep disorders in patients hospitalized following traffic accidents. Methods: We applied traditional Korean medicine treatments in conjunction with various mindfulness meditation techniques from M&L therapy, including Resource Mindfulness and Nourishment Brief Therapy. This study was conducted on three patients who reported acute sleep disorder symptoms on the first day of hospitalization following a traffic accident. The effectiveness of these interventions was assessed using the PTSD Checklist for DSM-5 (PCL-5-K), Insomnia Severity Index (ISI), EuroQol 5-Dimension (EQ-5D), Numerical Rating Scale (NRS), and Patient Global Impression of Change (PGIC). Results: ISI and PCL-5-K scores showed significant improvements after treatment, indicating reduced sleep disturbances and stress symptoms. Additionally, EQ-5D and PGIC scores were enhanced, reflecting an overall improvement in quality of life. Conclusions: This study suggests that integrating M&L therapy with traditional Korean medicine could significantly improve symptoms in patients with acute sleep disorders following traffic accidents.

Objective : This study was conducted to investigate the effects of iPad applications on improvement of attention and short-term memory in mild dementia. Methods : A single-case experimental study using A-B-A design was conducted. A total of 20 sessions, including 5 each for baseline phase A and A' and 10 for the intervention phase, were provided to the subject. Interventions were only provided during the intervention phase and were iOS-based iPad applications named "Memorado-Moving Balls" and "Circles." "Fit Brains-Matching Pairs" and "Fit-Brains-Spot the Difference" were used for each session to evaluate attention and short-term memory. MMSE-K, K-TMT-e A and B, and DST assessment tools were used pre- and post-intervention to assess attention and memory. Result : Fit Brains scores indicated improvement in both attention and memory during the intervention phase. K-TMT-e A showed 3 increased correct points and 3 reduced error points, and B showed 7 increased correct points and 2 reduced error points in post-tests, but the DST and MMSE-K showed no meaningful change. Conclusion : This single-case study identified improvements in attention and short-term memory in a person with mild dementia using iPad applications. Further studies regarding different applications and larger samples with long-term designs are necessary.

This study was done for identifying the factors which affect psychologic symptoms of low back(LBP) patients. The study subjects were 43 work-related low back pain patients, 28 work-related non-low back pain patients and 47 general low back injury patients. The study materialis SCL 90-R for checking psychologic symptoms and questionnaire for obtaining general information about the subjects. The data were analyzed by model of analysis of covariance adjusted by several variables such as gender, age, education and marital status and then compared the least square means of symptom score between groups. To identify the factors that affect psychologic symptom, duration of suspension, return to work and interaction factor of these two variables were analyzed by multivariate model and we calcuated partial correlation coefficient of these variables. As a result, work-related LBP patients showed higher score of symptoms in somatization, depression and psychosis than work-related non-LBP and non-work-related LBP. Duration of suspension and return to work were significant explanatory variables for psychologic symptom score of work-related LBP. Then, we may conclude that the treatment and rehabilitation programe for work-related LBP should cover the strategy of early return to work.
To evaluate the effect of horticultural therapy (HT) on the emotional improvement of depressed patients, computer-based heart rate variability (HRV) was compared with self-report scale (SRS) known as existing subjective evaluation method. SRS included four test areas: mental stress scale (MSS), physical stress scale (PSS), Beck anxiety inventory (BAI), and Beck depression inventory (BDI). HRV was itemized into four parameters: standard deviation of the N-N intervals (SDNN), square root of mean squared difference of successive N-N intervals (RMSSD), total power (TP), and low-frequency/high-frequency ratio (LF/HF ratio). Thirty patients with depression at the same mental hospital participated in this study. 15 patients of the treatment group received HT once a week for three months, but the control group did not during the same period. As a result, the emotional improvement in treatment group was clearly identified through HRV as well as SRS. The significant difference was shown at three test areas (MSS, BAI, and BDI, $p$ < 0.001) in SRS and at one parameter (total power, $p$ < 0.05) in HRV. There was noticeable increase in SDNN, RMSSD, and LF/HF ratio in treatment group after HT activity, but no significant difference. Although all parameters of HRV did not show significance, the possibility of HRV as an objective evaluation method to HT was recognized in this study. These results also implied that HT was efficient in the mental and physical regeneration of the depressed patients in both subjective and objective evaluation methods.
