  • The Automobile has developed and changed through the years from the invention and increased human-being's scope of activity. Junction Box, one of the part of automobile, is inspected by human eyes which caused mistakes and slow progress. To achieve the speed and accuracy the system was compensated by vision system which is inspecting automatically. This paper is automatic inspection of fuse and relay which is inserted in the junction box by checking the color and pattern of the cover. After checking the performance of the system by using the junction box, the result was 100 percent perception and open the possibility to inspect junction box fast and easy and accurate if it is applied to the industry.

  • 자동차 전자 부품 중 하나인 정션박스의 자동 시각 검사 시스템은 사랑의 육안 검사를 자동화함으로써, 정확하고 빠른 검사가 가능하다. 또한 검사 결과를 데이터베이스화하여 지속적인 불량 발생요인을 분석할 수 있기 때문에 불량률을 감소시켜 제품 신뢰도를 향상시킬 수 인다. 본 연구에서는 정션박스에 삽입된 퓨즈와 릴레이의 유무 및 오결합을 자동으로 검사하는 자동 시각 검사 시스템을 구현하였고 이를 적용한 결과 신속하고 정확한 검사가 가능함을 보였다.

A Study of the Improvement of Thermal Performance of a Junction Box of a Passenger Car (자동차 정션박스의 열성능 개선을 위한 연구)

  • Thermal management of a junction box of a passenger car has recently become more challenging due to its smaller size and larger current capacity. Thus, it is essential to perform the thermal optimization of a junction box in its design on an early stage of vehicle design. In this study, 3 dimensional CFD simulation with experimental measurement has been done to study for better thermal management of the junction box. First, the study of thermal characteristics of electric relays in the junction box has revealed that each surface of the relay has very different thermal resistance. In addition, an idea to install a cooling fan on the junction box has been studied and it was found that the forced cooling method was not effective on the system to keep the thermal resistance to the reasonable level of the junction box. Finally, the effect of external flows around the junction box on the temperatures of the relays, fuses, etc. has been studied and the result shows that the installation of the junction box at the proper place in an engine room can avoid any unnecessary overdesign in thermal management.

  • In this study, the outdoor evaluation test was performed to characterize the highly-reflective artificial grass to be used for bifacial photovoltaic (PV) power generation system. The 60-cell n-type Si monofacial and bifacial PV modules were employed, where two types of bifacial modules were equipped with split-type and box-type junction boxes, respectively. The results showed that the split-type junction box improved the rear-side power production and thus energy yield of bifacial module compared to the box-type junction box causing the shadow effect. Highly-reflective artificial grass achieved relatively high albedo of 0.18, and excellent bifacial gain of 33%, compared to conventional artificial grass with an albedo of 0.14-0.15, and bifacial gain of 29-30%.

Gate Location Design of an Automobile Junction Box with Integral Hinges (복합힌지를 갖는 차량용 정션박스의 게이트 위치설계)

  • Polymers such as polypropylene or polyethylene offer a unique feature of producing an integral hinge, which can flex over a million times without causing a failure. With such advantage manufacturing, time and cost required at the assembly stage can be eliminated by injecting the whole part as one piece. However, due to increased fluidity resistance at hinges during molding, several defects such as short shot or premature hinge failure can occur with the improper selection of gate locations. Therefore, it is necessary to optimize flow balancer in injection molding of part with hinges before actually producing molds. In this paper, resin flow patterns depending on several gate positions were investigated by numerical analyses of a simple strip part with a hinge. As a result, we found that the properly determined gate location leads to better resin flow and shorter hesitation time. Finally, injection molding tryouts using a mold that was designed one of the proposed gate systems were conducted using polypropylene that contained 20% talc. The experiment showed that hinges without defects could be produced by using the designed gate location.

  • The surface mount technology is used, as mounting relay using Chip Mounter that is inserted into the junction box, etc. car and small components such as 0402 and 0603 Chip. In this study we developed stick tube for supplying the relay that cause problems as components is heavy and suggested the technology using fiber sensors to eliminate missing insertions or improper insertions because of small components. And we show to result of the experiment how to increased the productivity.

  • This paper presents a design of the enable switch circuit, which is consist of discrete device at smart junction box(SJB) board. The Enable switch circuit, which receives ignition signal (IG) for input, sends a drive signal to linear regulator and other elements. The circuit design is carried out in a BCDMOS $0.18{\mu}m$ technology, and the performances are verified through simulations according to AEC-Q100 and ISO 7637-2. Die area of the designed Enable switch circuit is $1.67mm{\times}0.54mm$ in layout, and it is shown that the die can be housed in $3mm{\times}3mm$ HVSON8 package. The designed enable switch circuit is expected to be widely adopted in various automotive SJB's since it can significantly reduce the overall printed circuit board form factor.

  • A bypass diode is connected in parallel to solar cells with opposite polarity. The advantage of using the bypass diode is circumvented a destructive efforts of hot-spot heating in the photovoltaic(PV) module. In addition, it is possible to reduce a energy loss under the partial shading on the PV module. This paper presents a characteristic of photovoltaic module under partial shading condition and with defective bypass diode by using the experimental data. The results of field testing for each photovoltaic modules, when photovoltaic system which is connected power grid is operating, the inner junction-box temperature of shading photovoltaic module is high $5^{\circ}C$ because of difference of flowing current through into bypass diode. And incase of not operating photovoltaic system, the inner junction-box temperature of module with defective bypass diode is greatly higher than partial shading PV module.

  • This paper proposes the PV module fault diagnosis sensor which is applied to Zigbee wireless network, and monitoring system using the developed sensor. It is designed with embedded sensor in junction box. The diagnosis elements for algorithm were voltage and temperature. For that reason, It is able to reduce the price and separate the fault of bypass diode from shading differently from other monitoring systems. This fault diagnosis algorithm verified through the Field-installed operations of PV module.
