Based upon the assumption that both theory building and theory use are intertwined to construct a cohesive body of knowledge in the filed, this study attempts to identify the state of theoretical framework by examining the number and the quality of theoretical articles by subfield. Theoretical article is characterized as an incident in which in which the author contributes to the development or the use of theory in his/her own paper. Theoretical incidents were identified by a content analysis of 1,661 articles in four LIS journals from 1984 to 2003. The findings suggest that the four subfields, such as information seeking/use, information retrieval, library management, and scholar communication had great contributions to both theory building and theory use. Also, two research areas such as bibliometrics and professionals are very likely to be theoretical. Further, the analysis of the name of theories used by subfields could give an insight into the understanding of how the theoretical frameworks of each subfield are related.

This study proposed a theoretical framework that could explain the service use of a community informatics. The proposed community informatics use model was developed based on three theoretical models: (1) Ajzen's Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) from social psychology: (2) Uses and gratifications approaches from media use research; and (3) Technology Acceptance Model(TAM) from information technology use research. The proposed model consists of three basic components: expectations of the outcomes from use, approvals from important others, and perceivied controllability over using the service. The initially proposed model was assessed using structural equation modeling, and then re-sepcified in order to propose a better fitting model. The initially proposed and revised community informatics use models were discussed with their theoretical and practical implications.

Humanities academia and scientific community have been fused together in 21st centurty and it creates new theories and models. Among them, the embodied cognition theory has received attention in several related fields. This study reviews the major metatheories in information user behavior with their limitations. Then, "Life paradigm information behavior model" is suggested as a new theory, which communsurates with new era's request, introducing the embodied cognition theory and the entropy concept. By overcoming the limitations of individual approach to the information retrieval and user behaviors, we expect the discourse of the new integrated information retrieval paradigm.

Fuzzy 이론은 인간의 행동, 인식등에 관한 정량적인 측정이 어려운 정보를 분석하고, 의사 결정을 행하는 이론으로서, 최근에는 일상 생활의 여러 분야에서 많이 응용되고 있는 이론이다. 본 논문에서는 Fuzzy 이론중 Fuzzy 추론을 이용하여 운전자의 심리 상태를 Fuzzy 합성을 통하여, Mamdai의 Min-Max 중심법을 사용하여 분석하였다.

This study aims to analyze substantive theories in user studies on Web-based information seeking in order to explore the implications of building a unified theory in this field, Substantive theory is defined as research which generalized user behaviors during information seeking on the Web or suggested significant relationships between variables in Web-based information seeking context. The sample of research articles were published in four core journals from 1995 to 2005, Among 42 articles of user-based information seeking on the Web, ten articles were contributed to the development of substantive theories. Findings show that substantive theories used thirteen dependent and ten independent variables and 22 relationships were considered as significant. They have a tendency to focus on individual differences of users and on some specific narrow aspects(i.e. searching or searching time) of user behaviors. Findings suggested a range of implications for a unified theory construction.

Organizations continue to invest in the security of information technology as a means to be more competitive than others in their industry do. However, there is a relatively lack of interest in the information security compliance of employees who implement information security technologies and policies of organization. This study finds mechanisms for enhancing security compliance by applying theory of planned behavior, justice theory, and motivation theory in information security field. We use structural equation modeling to verify the research hypotheses, and conducted a survey on the employees of organization with information security policy. The results showed that organizational justice, sanction, and organizational identification affect the factors of the planned behavior theory and affect the employee's compliance intention. As a result, this research suggested directions for strategic approach for enhancing employee's compliance intention on organization's security policy.

본 논문에서는 신경망의 가중치와 정보이론을 이용한 속성선택 기법을 제안하였다. 제안된 방법은 정보이론의 상호정보량을 이용하여 각 속성들의 중요도를 평가한 후 중요도가 높은 속성들만을 선택하여 신경망의 입력으로 사용한다. 신경망의 입력으로 선택된 속성의 가중치에 대한 평가를 통하여 오차에 큰 영향을 미치는 속성들을 순차적으로 제거하여 가장 우수한 속성들을 구한다. 제안된 기법의 성능을 평가하기 위하여 다양한 패턴 분류 문제에 적용하고 그 성능이 우수함을 확인하였다.

선호구조의 논리를 결정모델에 적용시킬 때 선호구조는 일반적으로 특정 수치적 순서화 조건을 만족하게끔 표현된다. 그래야 주어진 선택지들을 둘러싼 개인 혹은 집단의 선호구조에 관한 정보가 형식적으로 표출될 수 있다고 여겨져 왔다. 그러나 선호구조의 수치적 순서화에 의해서만 선호관계의 정보가 형식적으로 표출될 수 있다는 성각은 일종의 독단이다. 더욱이 다양한 선택지의 결합에 의한 선호구조의 정보 이동은 기존의 수치적 순서화 속에서 제대로 다루어질 수 없다. 하나의 대안으로서 선형대수의 그래프이론에 바탕을 둔 선호구조의 질적 순서화 방식을 제안한다. 개인 혹은 집단의 선호구조에 관한 정보는 제안될 질적 순서화에 의해 보다 포괄적으로 다루어질 수 있다.

The purpose of this study is to examine research trends on theory use in Korean LIS, and ultimately to identify its academic growth and change. This study conducted content analysis, with a sample of 344 articles in Journal of the Korean Society for Library and Information Science during the past five years from 2010 to 2014. Then longitudinal analysis was additionally carried out by comparing with a data set from 1984 to 2003. Findings are as follows. 13.7% of research articles used theories on average 2.02 times. The most theories were deployed at the level of Spot Citing and the next most theories were at the level of Theory Application. Research on the subject of education and information use/seeking used theories most frequently. Theories from LIS were 31.9% and those from social science were 58.3% of all. Also, longitudinal analysis results support the conclusion that there was no quantitative increase but was clear qualitative growth in theoretical research of LIS. And the current theoretical framework of LIS research has closer relationships with pedagogy and psychology among social science disciplines than in the past.

The purposes of this research are to search and analyze information theories which are useful to approach bibliotherapy in terms of 'therapeutic' readers' advisory service, and to propose a conceptual model of 'therapeutic' readers' advisory service on the basis of such theoretical foundations. To the end, Dervin's sense-making theory and Kuhlthau's ISP model are introduced and applied to the conceptual model. The conceptual model is profoundly based on Dervin's situation-gap-use metaphor and Kuhlthau's Uncertainty Principle.
