  • Advertising and PR industries recently face a new challenge due to the growth of new digital content market and the change of paradigm. In the market of ICT (Information and Communication Technology) and digital contents, a stereographic content related to the technology such as VR (Virtual Reality) is one of the fast-growing fields. However, it is hard to find the clear answer for AD/PR strategies in the rapidly changing VR contents market. Therefore, this study analyzed VR industry at the macro level using in-depth interviews with eleven VR experts leading Korean VR contents industry by looking at P(Political), E(Economic), S(social), and T(Technological) of VR advertisement and PR industries. Moreover, the feasibility of VR contents in Advertising and PR industries was examined through S(Strengths), W(Weakness), O(Opportunities), and T(Threats) analysis in VR industry. Research result showed that it is necessary for vitalizing VR in AD/PR industries to promote killer contents, to solve problems of inconvenience according to users' needs, to improve awareness of customers and industries. Moreover, constant VR vitalizing policies in AD/PR should be processed as well as constructing medium-and long-term VR road-map. Thus, this study provides the direction of VR content strategy in Advertising and PR industries and the research foundation for further researches regarding future VR activation.

  • Paradigm of Global economy is changing to creative economy. This study focuses on the role of creative economy to clarify (understand clearly) the impact (influence) which transition of economy system will bring about. The creative economy is basically came from New economy theory. According to the New economy theory, a state can achieve sustainable growth without an inflation, or higher growth rate under given inflation rate, through an investment on ICT. However, different from America, Korea had limited effect of New Economy. This is because Korean economy had factor-input driven growth model rather than New Economy mechanism. However, ICT is essential requirement to move toward New Economy(Digital Economy), it does not sufficiently explain the increase of productivity and economic growth. A crucial point to realize New economy is how to diffuse and spill over the technology development on ICT sector to other industry. ICT is not creative industry or creative economy per se, and it should play as an enabler to improve other industry's productivity. The creative economy can be understood as an extension of New Economy theory. It means the economy that creates values by cultural assets and human resource, as well as capital and labor factors. However, if we understand the meaning of creative economy as change of input factors, it is hard to bring real shape of creative economy.

  • The 4th industrial revolution refers to the next-generation industrial revolution led by information and communication technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), robot technology, drones, autonomous driving and virtual reality (VR) and it also has made a significant impact on the development of the advertising industry. However, the world is rapidly changing to a non-contact, non-face-to-face living environment to prevent the spread of COVID 19. Accordingly, the role of the 4th industrial revolution and advertising is changing. Therefore, in this study, text analysis was performed using Big Kinds to examine the 4th industrial revolution and changes in advertising before and after COVID 19. Comparisons were made between 2019 before COVID 19 and 2020 after COVID 19. Main topics and documents were classified through LDA topic model analysis and Word2vec, a deep learning technique. As the result of the study showed that before COVID 19, policies, contents, AI, etc. appeared, but after COVID 19, the field gradually expanded to finance, advertising, and delivery services utilizing data. Further, education appeared as an important issue. In addition, if the use of advertising related to the 4th industrial revolution technology was mainstream before COVID 19, keywords such as participation, cooperation, and daily necessities, were more actively used for education on advanced technology, while talent cultivation appeared prominently. Thus, these research results are meaningful in suggesting a multifaceted strategy that can be applied theoretically and practically, while suggesting the future direction of advertising in the 4th industrial revolution after COVID 19.

The study results got by frequency analysis and one-way ANOVA were as follows. First, Korean showed amity with own team and hostility to the opponents, and stronger hostility toward Japan. Japanese showed hostility to own team, and it was especially strong when vs. Korea. Second, Korean showed stronger hostility toward Japan than others. Japanese showed stronger hostility to own team when vs Korea. From those results, this study could conclude that soccer games of Korea vs. Japan could be a field to express those emotions rather than effect on the emotions of anti-Korea and anti-Japan. By the empirical method of this study on the emotions of anti-Japan and anti-Korea unlike advance studies, this could receive favorable evaluation.

  • Focusing on the potential impact of information and communication technology (ICT) on older adults' quality of life, this study empirically examined the influence of smartphone use in old age on life satisfaction, depression, social activity and social support of Korean older adults. In order to examine the effects of smartphone use, this study analyzed data from 630 questionnaire surveys from older adults aged 65 and over living in Seoul. The effects of smartphone use were tested using hierarchical multiple regression analysis, controlling for socio-demographic variables such as age, sex, spouse, education and income. Results showed that the effects of smartphone use on life satisfaction, depression and social activity of older adults were statistically significant. However, the effects of smartphone use on social support of older adults was not statistically significant. This study suggests that ICT such as smartphones in old age plays generally positive roles in enhancing psychological, mental and social aspects of quality of life. This implies that further practical efforts to expand the distribution and use of ICT in old age are required to improve quality of life and successful aging of older adults.

  • It has been about 20 years since the English subject was formally taught in public elementary schools in Korea. The present research aims to analyze the studies regarding 'primary English' implemented in Korea during the time period. I have investigated 6,467 theses or research papers in total that were published in Korea with the help of the corpus programs Utagger and WordSmith Tools. The results show that for the last 20 years the number of overall studies appears to have increased since the year 1997, although the recent trend seems to be in recession. The research scope ranges from 'teaching-learning interaction' to 'curriculum' and 'assessment', which have been steadily investigated for 20 years. Furthermore, researchers sometimes appear to have followed the English education policy by conducting particular investigations like 'immersion program' or 'native English speaking teachers' in a certain time period. Recently, researchers started to have interest in the cutting-edge ICT. In conclusion, the academic field of 'primary English' in Korea has grown in quantity, and the spectrum of research areas has been expanded for the past 20 years. It is hoped that the results of this research will help set a new direction for future research.

  • We forecast the performance of the Korean biotechnology industry by adopting similar development paths taken by the U.S. biotechnology and Korean ICT industries. Our long-term forecasting techniques predict that Korean BT market size will increase from 3.7 billion to 10.8 billion U.S. dollars by year 2030. The pharmaceutical industry, one of major bio-subindustries, is expected to dominate Korean BT market in the long-run. Also, the relative portion of the exports in the Korean BT industry will be larger and thus the export-oriented government policy is required for the long-run growth of the Korean BT industry. Since the Korean ICT industry has already slowed down in the development, Korean BT industry is likely to catch up with ICT industry in the near future.

  • Companion animals are physically, mentally, and socially beneficial to humans, giving us great comfort in living in the Corona19 (COVID-19) era. It is also an era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, featuring the convergence of information and communication technology. Korea, which is facing a super-aged society, has the highest suicide rate among OECD countries, and companion animals that are effective in emotional stability can be the answer. This study is about companion animals that are effective in stabilizing the emotions of the elderly, one of the major problems in the Republic of Korea, which is about to solve in a super-aged society with more than 20 percent of the elderly aged 65 or older, needs to solve. The impact of knowledge of raising companion animals on the satisfaction level of the elderly was investigated through the management and awareness of infectious diseases. Although the level of care of companion animals had a very significant (p<0.001) effect on the satisfaction of the companion animals, the recognition of infectious diseases has no statistical significance (p>0.05). Raising companion animals with knowledge of rearing increases the satisfaction level and can lead to a happier life. While personal learning is important, it is also believed that supporting education will be necessary as a policy consideration.
