Study on Cold Forward Extrusion Formality Analysis along with Tool Entrance Angle of Helical Gear for Electronic Parking Brake Using Finite Element Analysis (유한요소해석을 이용한 전자식 주차브레이크용 헬리컬 기어의 금형 도입부 각도에 따른 냉간 전방압출 성형성 분석에 관한 연구)

  • This study uses finite element analysis to evaluate the forming load of tool entrance angle of the cold forward extrusion molding process of helical gear; this can replace the spur gear applied to the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) system. A cold forging process is often used in the automobile industry as well as in various industrial machines due to its high efficiency. Finite element analysis is frequently used when interpreting results of the forging process. Formality was evaluated by calculating tooth profile filling rate of helical gear. Change in required forming load was investigated when the entrance angle of forward extrusion tool die was changed from $30^{\circ}$ to $60^{\circ}$, also by finite element analysis. We suggest suitable tool entrance angles.

  • When using the FDM to create a 3D object, a thermoplastic filament is heated to its melting point and then extruded layer by layer. Although the FDM printing process has many advantages, its accuracy, and surface finish are not satisfactory. In recent years, much research has been devoted to improving the accuracy of the FDM printing process. The temperature difference between the nozzle and the interior of the chamber of a 3D printer is one of the important parameters affecting the printing process. In this study, we propose a methodology to reduce this temperature difference through design improvement. In addition, we elucidate how this design improvement affects product quality. The FDM printing process is conventionally carried out in a closed chamber. However, in this study, an open heating system is used to reduce the temperature. The FDM printing processes were simulated using FEM analysis.

세라믹막을 이용한 O/W 타입 에멀젼의 정밀여과

  • 세라믹막을 이용한 oil 폐수 처리의 기초 연구로서 정밀여과용 세라믹막의 제조와 oil(kerosene)-in-water 타입 에멀젼에 대한 막분리 효율이 연구되었다. 정밀여과 막으로서는 압출(extrusion)법으로 성형하여 제조한 $\alpha$-알루미나 튜브(평균 기공크기 0.9 $\mum$)와 이들 튜브(담체)내부에 $ZrO_2$ 또는 $Al_2O_3$ 다공성 박막을 코팅한 2층 구조의 복합막들을 사용하였다. 담체의 높은 투과율 ($1700 l/m^2\cdot h$ at $\Deltap = 1$ atm)을 어느정도 유지하면서 막분리 효율을 증대시킬 수 있는 새로운 슬러리 코팅법이 개발되엇으며, 코팅후 950-1300$\circ$C 에서 열처리한 코팅층의 두께와 평균 기공크기는 각각 5 - 20 $\mum$정도 이었다. 정밀여과막의 특성평가를 위하여 막 제조조건에 따른 코팅층의 두께 및 결함유무를 SEM으로 일단 관찰한 후에 Bubble Point Test와 Mercury Porosimeter를 이용하여 측정한 최대 및 평균 기공반경과 물의 투과량으로부터 막 전체에 대한 결함 유무와 결함의 허용한도등을 비교 분석하였다.

  • 4세대 방사광 가속기에 설치되는 out-vacuum 언듈레이터 진공용기는 내경 5.2 mm, 길이 5 m인 매우 얇고 긴 형태로 제작된다. 좁은 간격의 언듈레이터 진공용기를 지나는 전자의 진행을 용이하게 하기 위해서는 높은 내부 진공도와 매끄러운 내부 표면이 요구된다. 현재 시제품으로 제작된 언듈레이터 진공용기의 요구 진공도는 Pave < $5{\times}10^{-7}$ mbar이며, 내부 표면 거칠기는 Ra < 150 nm 이하이다. 언듈레이터 진공용기는 알루미늄을 압출하여 제작한 후 초정밀 기계가공으로 제작하였다. 본 논문에서는 현재까지 수행한 공정 개발 결과를 정리하여 보고하고자 한다.

  • Free-form buildings have a curved shape and are composed of geometric shapes, which require high precision. Therefore, this study proposed a new extrusion method, a piston method, that improves the precision of FCP by automatically extruding a predetermined amount of concrete by improving the aforementioned limitations. The technology to extrude a predetermined amount of concrete by applying pistons is expected to shorten construction period and increase economic efficiency by improving the precision and productivity of free-form panels.

  • Metal-working lubricants, metal-finishing bath wastes, mechanical oil-water emlsion 등과 같은 공업 폐수들은 보통 0.1 $\mu$m 이하의 크기를 가지는 oil-in-water 에멀젼이 약 2 wt% 정도 포함되어 있어, oil의 함량이 30 wt% 이상이 되도록 농축시킨다면 재사용이 가능하게 되며, 정밀여과막이나 한외여과막으로 oil을 분리할 수 있다. 본 실험에서는 압출성형법으로 제조한 튜브형 다공성 $\alpha-Al_2O_3$ 담체(평균 기공 크기 = 0.7 $\mu$m, 길이:200,600mm, 직경:8mm, 두께:0.8mm) 위에 슬립 캐스팅법을 이용하여 TiO$_2$ 막을 코팅한 후 925$\circ$C에서 2시간 동안 열처리하여 정밀여과용 세라믹 막을 제조하였다.

  • Experimental studies have been carried out to obtain uniform cups by one operation of backward extrusion. A lot of factors on dimensional accuracy of backward extruded cups are billet material, billet shape, punch shape, punch velocity, geometry of tool, tool material, and lubrication etc. In manufacturing cup-shaped parts by backward extrusion, it is very important to design the initial billet shape or the preform. The objective of this paper is to find that the shape of the initial billet is related to dimensional accuracy and also to manufacture the more accurate product simultaneously reducing the loss of material as forming the shape of the initial billet by means of upsetting.

  • The quality requirements for metal forming products have become more strict. Machined parts, which could be produced only by cutting, can now be formed plastically. In order to reach the mechanical strength and geometrical accuracy, reasonable production technologies should be developed. In this presentation, some basic flow-press-technologies in the metal forming are introduced. Some real sample parts for a passenger can are shown and their forming plans are explained. Also problems and solutions for the production of bevel gears are discussed.

  • The optimal extrusion process for the rate sensitive materials have been developed in this study. The preliminary designs of the die shapes have been carried out to maintain constant strain rate during extrusion and the upper bound approach has been applied to define the process variables (the die entrance velocity and the die length) including the rheology during deformation. The result for the axisymmetric extrusion process has been verified with rigid-viscoplastic finite element analysis. It has been confirmed that the optimal die has wider band of constant strain rate than the conical one does.

  • The design of the prestressed cold extrusion die with two stress rings has been performed in this study. The cold extrusion has been simulated by the rigid-plastic FEM. The stress analysis of die has been performed for both after shrink fitting and during extrusion by using the elastic FEM and the Lame's equation. According to the variation of interferences and diameter ratios, the maximum effective stress has been evaluated. As results, interferences and diameters were determined by the minimization of the maximum effective stress of die insert. The comparison of the maximum effective stress between the proposed design and the conventional design has been discussed. It was found that the maximum effective stress in the die insert is considerably affected by the stiffness of the first stress ring.
