  • This paper presents an optical surface roughness sensor developed for intermediate- process measurement on the machine. The light scattering method is adopted for the sensor, which is designed conpact and flexible enough to apply to 'on the machine' measurement of surface roughness. The developed sensor has special features such that it makes use, as the measurement parameter, of the ratio between fluxes of the incident light, and the specularly and partly diffusely reflected light, and that it can adjust the incident light angle. The experimental investigation reveals not only the sensor has good performance as a surface roughness sensor but the sensor is very robust so as to be useful in in-process measurement.

Influence of Heavy Metal Contents in Soils Near Old Zinc-Mining Sites on the Growth of Corn (아연광산 인근 토양중의 중금속 함량이 옥수수 생육에 미치는 영향)

  • This research was carried out to investigate how the growth of corn was affected by the heavy metal contents in soils near the old zinc-mining sites, by analyzing correlation between the growth of corn and heavy metal contents in soils collected from Yonghari Ilwoulmyun YongyangGun in Kyeongpook province in 1993. The results obtained were summarized as follows. 1. The contents of heavy metals such as Zn, Cu, Pb, Cd, and as in the Youngyang area were very high compared with those in a normal area. Heavy metal contents in soils collected from $2.0{\sim}2.5Km$ distance from the mining area were the highest, and those from 3.0 Km than those from 1.5 Km were even higher. 2. For heavy metal contents in leaves of all surveyed crops, Zn, Pb, Cu and As were the highest in soybean, followed by corn and rice. 3. Growth parameters of corn in polluted fields were comparatively poor and heavy metal contents in soils of the respective sites were higher than those in fields where rice was cultivated 8 years ago and irrigation was not done previously. 4. Heavy metal contents in the leaf part of corn plant showed a similar tendency to those in soils, being the highest among the different parts of corn plant, and they were in the decreasing order of Zn > Cu > As > Cd > Pb in each part. But the differences of metal contents in each part varied. 5. Generally, a negative relationship existed between the growth of corn and heavy metal contents in soil, of which Cu and Pb were significantly correlated with plant height, ear height, diameter of stem, ear length and yield of corn. 6. There existed a positive correlation between the contents of Pb,Cd and As in soils and those in the different parts of corn plant. The higher contents of Pb, Cd, and As in soil, the more those in corn plant incressed. The contents of Pb and As in corn grains showed a highly significant positive correlation with Cd and As contents in soils.

Variation of Gold Content in Rocks and Minerals from the Seongsan and Ogmaesan Clay Deposits in the Haenam Area, Korea (해남지역 성산 및 옥매산 점토광산에서와 금함량 변화)

  • Several acid-sulfate clay deposits associated with silicic magmas occur in the Haenam area of the southwestern part of Korea. Geology of the studied area consists of tuffs, granitic rocks, quartz porphyry, rhyolite, andesite and sedimentary rocks. The granitic rocks and quartz porphyry intruded tuffs and sedimentary rocks. The rhyolite and tuffs around the mines have undergone hydrothermally weak or strong alteration. Gold contents with major and trace elements have been determined for a total of sixty-seven specimens of fresh igneous rocks, wall rocks and minerals such as dickite and alunite by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometer and inductively coupled plasma. Gold is enriched in the alunite vein and the silicified zone, but is depleted in dickites and hydrothermally altered rocks with dickite of the Seongsan deposit. Gold is especially concentrated near the faults or conjunction area of two faults. High content of gold is shown in the mineral assemblages of alunitequartz- pyrite in the alunite vein and silicic zone of the Seongsan deposit compared with that of minerals and rocks from another deposits distributed in the studied area. Gold content in tuffs and dickites with pyrite is generally low. Gold content in silicified tuff tends to show positive correlations with content of As, Hg and Sb. Variation trends of Cd, Hg and Sb are similar to those of gold content. From the result of gold content variations, gold may be transported and concentrated by mineralizing solutions ascending along the cracks like fault. Therefore, it is important to survey alunite vein and silicified zone at the conjunction of faults, and to analyze pathfinder elements such as As, Hg and Sb for geological and geochemical exploration of gold in the studied deposits.

Heavy Metal Uptake of Acacia from Tailing soil in Abandoned Jangun Mine, Korea (장군광산 광미 토양으로부터 아카시아의 중금속 전이에 관한 연구)

  • Janggun mine (longitude $129^{\circ}$ 03'38.91" Latitude $36^{\circ}$ 51'31.59") had been operated as an underground mine for last few decades. As the part of the remediation process, the surface of tailing dump was covered with uncontaminated soil about 20 cm in depth and acacia trees were planted. Heavy metal uptake of acacia from tailing soil has continued for the past 15 years. Heavy metal concentration ranges of tailing soil that contaminated with As (66.43-9325.34 mg/kg), Cd (0.96-1.09 mg/kg), Cu (16.90-57.60 mg/kg), Pb (57.33-945.67 mg/kg), and Zn (154.48-278.61 mg/kg) have higher than those of control soil As (38.98 mg/kg), Cd (0.42 mg/kg), Cu (10.26 mg/kg), Pb (8.21 mg/kg), Zn (46.74 mg/kg). The As, Cd, Cu, Pb and Zn concentrations of leaf of acacia in highly contaminated tailing dump were 165.95, 0.04, 10.68, 3.18, 48.11 mg/kg, respectively. The metal contents of leaf of acacia tree that obtained from uncontaminated control soil are 1.31 of As, 3.90 of Cu, 0.22 of Pb and 11.01 mg/kg of Zn. It was investigated that in the acacia tree, heavy metals such as As, Cu, Pb and Zn tend to be more highly concentrated in bark and leaf, compared with sapwood and heartwood.

Development of Smart Mining Technology Level Diagnostics and Assessment Model for Mining Sites (광산 현장의 스마트 마이닝 기술 수준 진단평가 모델 개발)

  • In this study, we proposed a diagnostics and assessment model for mining sites that can evaluate the smart mining technology level in a systematic and structured way. For this, the maturity of the smart mining was defined, and detailed assessment items of the diagnostics and assessment model for smart mining were derived by considering the smart factory diagnostics and assessment model (KS X 9001-3) used in the manufacturing industry. While maintaining the existing system, the existing 46 detailed assessment items were modified to be suitable for mining. As a result, a total of 29 detailed assessment items were derived in the areas of promotion strategy, process, information system and automation, and performance. Based on this, a questionnaire was designed to diagnose the level of smart mining technology, and assessment was performed by applying it to domestic iron mines. The level of smart mining technology in the study area was found to be level 2, and it could be inferred that it was about 40% lower than the average smart level of the general manufacturing industry. In addition, by using the developed model, it was possible to recognize the weak points of the mine at each stage of the introduction, operation, and advancement of smart mining, and to suggest investment and improvement directions.

양성 고분자로 표면 사이징된 원지에 의한 도공층의 조기 구조화 및 도공지의 물성 개선

  • 도공지 제조 시 적절한 표면특성을 지닌 원지를 사용하는 것은 최종 도공지 품질향상은 물론 조업성 개선에도 필수적인 요소이다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위해 도공원지의 표면 사이징이 실시되고 있다. 도공원지의 표면 사이정 시 양성전분을 이용할 경우 서로 반대로 하전된 전분 과 섬유 사이에 발현되는 정전기적 인력에 의해서 표면 사이정 전분의 원지로의 전분 침투가 억제되어 도공원지의 불투명도, 광택도 인쇄적성 둥의 물성 향상을 꾀할 수 있다. 또 이러한 원지를 이용하여 도공을 할 경우 음전하를 띤 도공액 구성성분과 양전하를 띤 원지 표면의 정 전기적 작용에 의해 도공액의 부동화가 촉진될 수 있으므로 도공액의 표면 잔류성이 향상되 며, 도공층 공극 구조 개선에 따른 광학적인 성질의 개선도 기대할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다. 본 연구에서는 양성전분으로 표면 사이정 된 원지를 사용한 도공지와 기존의 산화전분을 이용하여 표면 사이정한 원지를 이용하여 제조된 도공지의 특성을 비교하였다. 또 양성전분에 의한 표면 사이징 효과를 보다 극대화하고 도공안료와 원지 표면과의 반응성을 증가시키기 위 해 양이온성 폴리머를 표면 사이정 시 첨가하여 표면 사이칭을 하는 방법을 평가하였다. 아울 러 양성전분과 도공안료와의 반응에 따라 도공층의 부동화가 촉진될 수 있다는 근거를 구명하 기 위해 레올로지적인 접근을 시도하였으며, 도공층의 공극 특성 관찰, 광산란 및 광홉수 계수 측정 등을 통해 양성전분으로 표면 사이정된 도공층의 구조적 특성을 분석하였다. 그 결과 산화전분에 비해 양성전분으로 표면 사이징한 원지의 경우 도공지의 불투명도가 높게 나타났다. 이는 양성전분으로 표면 사이정한 원지를 사용한 경우 도공층의 구조가 광 산란계수를 향상시킬 수 있도록 변화되었기 때문임을 확인하였다. 표면 사이징시 양이온성 폴리머를 첨가할 경우 불투명도 개선에 상당한 효과가 있었으며, 전분 대비 1% 이하의 첨 가량에서도 어느 정도의 개선이 가능하였다. 양성전분에 의한 도공액의 조기 부동화가 발현 된다는 것을 구명하기 위해서 도공액의 점탄성적 평가를 실시한 결과 산화전분에 비해 양성 전분 상에서 도공액의 storage modulus가 높고 critical strain point 역시 높은 값을 나타낸 다는 것을 확인하였다. 이는 양성전분과 도공액, 특히 클레이와의 정전기적 인력에 의한 반 응 결과로 생각된다. 양성전분을 이용한 도공원지의 표면 사이정 기술은 특히 평량이 낮은 도공지의 경우 수분 의 침투를 억제함으로써 도공공정에서의 지절을 감소시킬 뿐 아니라 불투명도 등 광학적 성질 을 개선시키고, 표면 커버리지를 향상시키는 효과를 나타낼 것으로 기대된다.

Fluid Inclusion Study of the Samcheonpo Amethyst Deposit of Kyongsangnamdo, Korea (경상남도 삼천포 광산의 자수정에 대한 유체포유물 특성)

  • Fluid inclusions in amethyst from the Samcheonpo amethyst deposit of the Waryongsan area, Kyongnam generally grouped into four different types: Type I (liquid-rich and $10{\sim}23wt%$ NaCl, $Th=289{\sim}359^{\circ}C$), Type II (vapor-rich and $2{\sim}10wt%$ NaCl, $Th=304{\sim}365^{\circ}C;$), Type III (halite-bearing, $31{\sim}54wt%$ NaCl, $Th=259{\sim}510^{\circ}C;$), and Type IV ($CO_{2}-bearing\;9{\sim}13wt%\;NaCl,\;126{\sim}277^{\circ}$). Type I, II, and III inclusions are confined in the lower part of the amethyst and Type IV in the upper, which indicates significant hydrothermal activity during the earliest stage of the amethyst growth or the solidus condition of granitic rocks. The earliest fluid exsolved from the crystallizing granitic magma formed Type IIIa which is spatially associated with silicate melt inclusions. The homogenization behavior of Type IIIa inclusions by dissolution of the halite crystal after the bubble disappearance indicates that Type IIIa inclusions were trapped at some relatively elevated pressure. Exsolution of Type IIIb, I, II forming fluids with gradual decrease in their salinity was followed. The last fluid was $CO_{2}-bearing$ fluid (Type IV), which is assumed to be derived by decarbonization reactions with the surrounding sedimentary rocks. It suggests that the fine-grained granitic rocks containing the Samcheonpo amethyst crystallized at the sub-solvus condition saturated with water and exsolved abundant water.

Fractionation and Potential Mobility of Heavy Metals in Tailings and Paddy Soils near Abandoned Metalliferous Mines (폐광산 광미와 논토양의 중금속 분획화 및 잠재적인 이동도)

  • Most of the tailings have been left without any management in their mines and have become the main source of serious environmental problems in nearby groundwater, stream and cultivated lands. To compare fractionation and potential mobility of heavy metals in tailings and paddy soils near abandoned 10-metalliferous mines in Korea, the distribution and chemical fractions of heavy metal and their mobility in relation to chemical compositions were investigated. The pollution index of heavy metal in mine tailing calculated with the permissible levels were in the order Cheongyang>Dogok>Beutdeun>Baegwoul mine, which were considered sufficient to raise environmental problems. The rates of 0.1M-HCl extractable Cd, Cu, Pb, Zn, and Ni to total content in paddy soils were 49.1, 50.7, 26.8, 18.4 and 2.9%, respectively, and their rates of heavy metals in paddy soils were higher than that of mine tailing. Dominant chemical forms of heavy metals in tailings were sulfide and residual form (63-91%), specially, the exchangeable portion of Cd (21%) was relatively higher than that of other metals in paddy soils. The mobility factor of heavy metals in tailings and paddy soils was in the order Cd>Zn>Cu>Pb, and the mobility factor in tailing varied considerably among the mines. The potential mobility of heavy metals in tailings showed significant positive correlation with water-soluble $Al^{3+}$ and $Fe^{3+}$ contents, while in paddy soils, it correlated negatively with soil pH values.

p-Toluenesulfonate Ester Derivatives of Benzendiol as Novel Acid Amplifiers (새로운 산증식제로 벤젠다이올의 p-톨루엔술폰산 에스터 유도체에 관한 연구)

  • Aiming the development of novel acid amplifiers, 2-hydroxyphenyl-4-methylbenzenesulfonate (1), 3-hydroxyphenyl-4-methylbenzene sulfonate (2), 4-hydroxyphenyl-4-methylbenzenesulfonate (3) were synthesized as the aromatic acid amplifiers with good thermal stability. They were autocatalytically generated p-toluenesulfonic acid in the presence of small amount of acid evolved from a photoacid generator. These aromatic sulfonates showed excellent thermal stability in PtBMA film and were proven to be the first aromatic acid amplifier to act as a photosensitivity enhancer. When these compounds were coupled with a chemically amplified photoresist system, photosensitivity was enhanced up to 3~6 folds.

Pattern Classification and Analysis of Rainfall-Runoff and TOC Variation by the application of Self Organizing Map (자기조직화방법을 적용한 강우 유출과 강우-TOC변동에 관한 패턴 분류 및 분석)

  • 본 연구는 강우-유출 및 TOC의 패턴 분류를 위하여 광주 광산 강우관측소의 강우량자료와 나주지점의 유출량 그리고 기존의 BOD 및 COD 수질농도 측정값에 비하여 적은 오차요인과 빠른 시간에 결과 값을 얻을 수 있으며 유출량과 난분해성 물질에 대한 해석이 가능하고 재현성이 탁월한 TOC자료를 사용하였다. SOM을 적용하기 위해 먼저 Map의 크기는 Garcia가 제시한 $M=5{\sqrt{N}}$을 이용하여 결정한다. 이러한 비선형적인 다변량 자료를 분석하기 위해서 Map에 의해 구분된 자료 위치를 추출하여 원자료를 재구축하고 이를 통해 원자료를 패턴별로 분류 할 수 있었다. 이러한 패턴별 분류를 통해 유출량에 따른 TOC자료를 2차원의 Map 상에 시각적으로 가시화하여 비선형적인 경향이 강한자료의 분포적 양상을 이해하는데 큰 도움이 되며, 향후 이를 통해 예측을 위한 모형화 과정에도 크게 도움을 줄 것으로 기대된다. 또한, 강우자료 또는 유출량 자료만을 이용한 단일변량의 패턴분류를 위해 SOM의 적용이 가능할 것으로 판단되며, 이는 각 변량의 본질적인 특성을 파악할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
