Three-dimensional Distribution and Variation of Moisture Content of Boxed-heart Square Timber of Pinus densiflora During Drying (소나무 수심 정각재의 건조 중 3차원 함수율 분포와 변이)

  • Three-dimensional distribution and variation of moisture content of boxed-heart square timber of Pinus densiflora was investigated to find the safe and rapid drying methods. As results, microwave-drying method could dry the boxed-heart square timber with sectional dimension of $150{\times}150mm$ under 10% moisture content (MC) within 72 hours with less surface checks, compared with hot-air drying. In case of microwave drying, the MC distribution during drying had a close relation with the initial MC distribution. In case of hot air drying, however, it was independent on the intial one except for the intial drying stage.

  • The characteristic impedance of a biconical antenna which is the conical cage consisting of 4m conical wires is obtained analytically under some assumption. The effect of the number of the elements on the characteristic impedance is observed according to the equation of the characteristic impedance derived in this paper. The equation is not convenient for practical use. However, a compact form of the equation is obtained by assuming that the apexangle is not very large. The numerical solution of this approximate equation is found to show errors no more than 2% over a wide range of the apex angle .

  • The Cho-sun Dynasty had put in operation positive Jeong-Pyo Policy for diffusion Confusion ethics, educate the people and control the mind of the people. Prize methods for Jeong-Pyo Policy are Jeong-Ryeo, Jeong-Moon, remit corvee, present a post and present goods. The purpose of this prize was to memory filial piety, faithful wife, faithful subject and there was Confucianism inside. The building of Jeong-Ryeo had been built by king order. When a family got a Jeong-Ryeo form a king, the family had great honor, and it became a village's great pride. Although Gyeongnam province has the most people who have taken the prize, yet it is insufficient of the present condition or the architectural analysis data about Jeong-Gak. In this study, I considered architectural characteristics of Jeong-Gak in the West Gyeongnam.

  • We studied prism design method for actual light source that have bulk in order to accomplish particular intensity distribution. When we know incidence angle and try to send ray to given direction, numerical formula that yields prism vertical angle, and then vertical angles were calculated sequentially. After analyzing problem that supposing to point light source, supplemented this and derived applicable prism design method on bulk light source. The intensity distribution and efficiency that came out by each design results were compared and analyzed, we got improved results through supplemented design method.

  • In medial opening wedge high tibial osteotomy (OWHTO), researchers have reported critical problems caused by unexpected changes in the tibial posterior-slope angle. This unexpected change can be analyzed, but there is no general solution for cases with an oblique hinge axis and cut plane. We propose a general analysis model for OWHTO. We first evaluate the effects according to variation in the hinge axis and tibial cut plane and then define an ideal correction axis. This ideal axis, called the virtual tibial correction axis, is not on the tibial cut plane in general. In this paper, we also present an evaluation of feasibility of the proposed analysis model.

Development of the Program Used in Calculating and Estimating Anamorphic Prisms (Anamorphic 프리즘을 위한 계산 평가 프로그램 개발)

  • Purpose: To develop the program used in calculating and estimating anamorphic prisms used to construct an anamorphoser. Methods: If there is a program which can show the apex angle and the volume of prism which are decided by the refraction index of anamorphic prisms and the expanding ratio of incident beam, the production of anamorphic prisms can be done accurately. Moreover, it could become a convenient tool to the design and production of whole optical systems using anamorphic prisms. Developing this program, first, we had to induce formulas of prism that decide the apex angle and the arrangement angle of anamorphic prisms with the given refraction index of anamorphic prism and the given expanding ratio of incident beam. Then we programmed them by delphi 6.0 language so that they could be visualized on screen and easily confirmed. Results: We could develop the program used in calculating and estimating anamorphic prisms used to construct an anamorphoser. Conclusions: Judging from the results of applying this developed program to actual business, we could conclude that this program is useful in calculation and production of anamorphic prisms which are used as components of an anamorphoser because this program can offer a lot of accuracy and quickness to producers.

Air-Drying Curve and Moisture Content Distribution of Softwood Square Timber (침엽수 구조용 정각재의 천연건조곡선과 함수율분포)

  • This paper presents the results of air-drying processes and mositure content (MC) distribution of red pine (P. densiflora) and Japanese larch (L. leptolepis) square timber with 14 cm and 16.5 cm of face size, respectively. The air-drying rates of square timber were comparatively high during the first 8 weeks, after that gradually decreased. The time to air dry square timber from initial MC to specified MC of 18 percent required about 26 weeks for 14.0 cm and 32 weeks for 16.5 cm square of red pine, and 32 weeks for 14.0 cm and 48 weeks for 16.5 cm square of Japanese larch. The longitudinal- and transverse MC distribution of these air-dried squares showed slight moisture gradient. The effect of face size on moisture gradient of Japanese larch square was more pronounced comparing with red pine one.

Effects of the Knife-Incising and Longitudinal Kerfing Treatment on High-Temperature Drying Characteristics of Red Pine Square Timber (배할 및 자상-인사이징 처리가 소나무 정각재의 고온건조 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was carried out to confirm the effects of the knife-incising and longitudinal kerfing treatment on high-temperature drying characteristics of red pine square timber with dimensions of thickness 15 cm. The range of final moisture content was investigated 5.6% to 7.5% after drying. The differences did not exist in the moisture content and distribution according to the pretreatment condition. In the case of longitudinal kerfing treatment, the surface check occurrence was reduced than the control. In addition, the twist had a tendency to decrease due to the longitudinal kerfing treatment. The knife-incising and longitudinal kerfing treatment were investigated to be ineffective on internal checks and drying shrinkage.

Studies on the High-Temperature Drying Characteristics of Douglas-fir, Hemlock and Radiata Pine Square Timber (Douglas-fir, Hemlock, Radiata pine 정각재의 고온건조 특성에 관한 연구)

  • This study was carried out to evaluate the high-temperature drying characteristics of douglas-fir, hemlock, and radiata pine square timber with dimensions of thickness 15 cm and 18 cm. As a result, radiata pine showed the lowest final moisture content followed by douglas-fir and hemlock without reference to the timber size. Moreover, when the longitudinal kerfing is processed, the final moisture content was lower than control. The kerfing treatment was effective to decreasing the twist of radiata pine and hemlock. When douglas-fir is processed to the shape like the edge-grained timber that does not include the pith, the decrease of drying defect was possible.
