Contactless Palmprint Recognition Based on the KLT Feature Points (KLT 특징점에 기반한 비접촉 장문인식)

  • An effective solution to the variation on scale and rotation is required to recognize contactless palmprint. In this study, we firstly minimize the variation by extracting a region of interest(ROI) according to the size and orientation of hand and normalizing the ROI. This paper proposes a contactless palmprint recognition method based on KLT(Kanade-Lukas-Tomasi) feature points. To detect corresponding feature points, texture in local regions around KLT feature points are compared. Then, we recognize palmprint by measuring the similarity among displacement vectors which represent the size and direction of displacement of each pair of corresponding feature points. An experimental results using CASIA public database show that the proposed method is effective in contactless palmprint recognition. Especially, we can get the performance of exceeding 99% correct identification rate using multiple Gabor filters.

  • The automotive environment is particularly demanding on connector performance, and is characterized by large temperature changes, high humidity and corrosive atmospheres. Fretting is a contact damage process that occurs between two contact surfaces. Fretting corrosion refers to corrosion damage at the asperities of contact surfaces. This damage is induced under load and in the presence of repeated relative surface motion, as induced for example by vibration. This paper critically reviews the works published previously on fretting corrosion of electrical connectors. Various experimental approaches such as testing machines, material selection, testing environments, acceleration testing techniques and preventing methods are addressed. Future research prospects arc suggested.

Exposure to Crime News, Multicultural Acceptability, and the Mediation Effects of Perceived Risk (범죄 뉴스 노출과 다문화수용성 위험지각의 매개효과를 중심으로)

  • This paper aims to examine systematically how audiences' exposure to crime news influences their multicultural acceptability. In particular, the analysis has focused on how the variance in the effects of contacts with crime news on foreigners takes place, according to the types of media and communication favored among the audiences. Also, with perceived risk toward crime as a mediating variable, this research scrutinizes the way crime news on foreigners comes to influence multicultural acceptability among the audiences. While various news sources and communication channels are influential in strengthening the perceived possibility of crime on the individual level, the results show, television seems to be particularly more effective with regards to the perceived prevalence of crime on the social level (RQ 1). Also, while contacts with crime news through 'dialogic' media rarely influence multicultural acceptability significantly, 'discursive' media and face-to-face contacts have negative impacts on the multicultural acceptability (RQ 2). Consequently, perceived risk on the social level seems to play the role of full mediation in the process where audiences' contact with crime news through discursive media influences their multicultural acceptability (RQ 3). Based on these findings, both theoretical and practical implications were discussed.

Effect of LES on Recovery Capability of DNCB-Induced Allergic Contact Dermatitis in Rat (대두 추출물 LES가 DNCB로 유도된 랫드의 알레르기성 접촉피부염에 미치는 영향)

  • In this study, we evaluated whether Lunasin Enriched Soybean (LES) suppressed 1-chloro-2,4-dinitrochlorobenzene (DNCB) induced allergic contact dermatitis in vivo. In the group treated with DNCB alone, erythema and hemorrhage in the skin were observed, while the application of LES after DNCB treatment modulated erythema and hemorrhage similar to the untreated group. In histopathological analysis of the skin, DNCB-treated groups showed increased skin thickness compared to the untreated groups, while the treatment of LES dose-dependently modulated skin thickness. Also, hypertrophy and hyperkeratosis of the epidermis, intracellular edema and infiltration of inflammatory cells were observed in the group treated with DNCB alone, while treatment of LES inhibited these inflammatory changes. DNCB also induced a significant up-regulation of iNOS and COX-2 expression, as compared to the untreated groups. However, the treatment of LES significantly decreased the down-regulation of iNOS and COX-2 expression, as compared to DNCB-treated groups. Also, LES reduced the IgE level in DNCB-stimulated groups. And lunasin from LES translocated the nucleus of the cells in the skin of Sprague-Dawley rats. Taken together, it is thought that LES has the potential to be used as an alternative treatment for allergic contact dermatitis.

A Study on the Influences of the Elderly Contact Experience and Aging Knowledge on the Elderly Discrimination Recognition Using the Empathy Ability (대학생의 노인접촉경험과 노화지식이 공감능력을 매개변수로 노인차별인식에 미치는 영향관계에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effects of empathy in relation to contact experience of the elderly and their knowledge level of ageing. For this study data was collected from 20th Dec. to 30th of Dec. 2018 355 university students from D university in J. province were surveyed. Data was analysis by using reliability test, correlation analysis, hierarchical multiful regression analysis. The statistical significance of the mediating effects was confirmed by Sobel's verification. The results of the analysis showed that the partial mediation effect of empathy was verified with regard to the relationship between elderly contact experience and discrimination of elderly people. In addition, the partial mediation effect of empathy was verified between level of aging knowledge and the perception of elderly discrimination. The results of this study confirmed the necessity of developing practical education and training programs to improve the level of aging knowledge and to increase contact experience with elderly people. There is also a need to enhance empathy in order to improve the awareness of discrimination against elderly people in health and welfare departments among university students.

  • In this study, we developed new tapered rolling type strip pressure key for the prevention of scratch in sheet metal forming line. The developed pressure key is equipped with two tapered rollers inside a conventional block pressure key. Through the scratch test, for the case of transversal movement the tapered rolling type pressure key reduces both friction and depth of scratch by the effect of tapered shape which decreases the pressure spike on edge, and for longitudinal movement the scratch on the sheet metal surface is certainly removed by the rolling contact.

  • In this study, impact transient responses of (Graphite/Epoxy) laminated composite subjected to low-velocity impact are investigated using a finite element method. Dynamic von-Karman plate equations considering large deflection of plate are modified to include the effect of transverse shear deformations as in Mindlin plate theory and also the rotary inertia effect is considered. The convergence of transient responses is used contact law established through the statical indentation test. We investigate displacements, contact forces and strains by thickness variation of various laminated composite. We compare and analyze each results.

  • Theoretical review of the PR activities was initiated using Lasswell's (1948) SMCRE model to evaluate the indicators of the collaborative programs with NGO and the outcome of the activities promoting energy-saving programs. The indicators were then set based on a case study by Nho Younhwoo (2012). This paper aims to develop evaluation indicators for the activities promoting energy-saving programs and evaluate how energy consumers recognize the reputations of PR agencies (sender), PR content (message), PR media outlets (channel), and the degree to which such PR activities induce energy-saving behaviors.

  • 본 고에서는 태양전지 모듈 원가의 60% 이상을 차지하는 실리콘 기판의 생산성을 향상시키고 그에 따라 제조단가를 저감시키기 위한 일환으로 최근 들어 일본과 프랑스를 중심으로 중점적으로 기술개발이 이루어지고 있는 EMCC법 (Electro Magnetic Continuous Casting)에 의한 다결정 실리콘 잉고트의 제조기술에 관하여 연구하였다. 특히, 태양전지급의 고순도 잉고트로 제조하기 위해 높은 용융점과 낮은 전기전도도를 갖는 실리콘의 용해 및 주조 공정이 수냉되는 cold crucible 내에서 이루어지게 됨에 따라 발생하는 종래의 EMCC법의 문제점을 해결하고자, 코일전류 및 도가니 구조 등이 Joule 가열 효과 및 pinch 효과에 미치는 영향을 체계적으로 조사하였다. 연구 결과 대용량의 전원장치나 별도의 2차 가열원을 사용하지 않고서도 실리콘 원료의 가열 및 용해 효율을 현격히 향상시키며 용탕의 전 구간에 걸쳐 전자기력을 용탕의 정수압보다 큰 상태로 유지할 수 있는 EMCC용 무접촉성 도가니의 설계기술 및 이를 활용하는 전자기연주공정기술을 확립하였으며, 그 결과 직경 5cm의 실리콘 잉고트를 1,5mm/min의 속도로 무접촉 조건에서 연속주조할 수 있었다.
