The differences in soil productivity between the cut site and the fill site in a newly reclaimed land were compared with the experimental results conducted during 1978 to 1980 under soybean-barley and sweet potato-barley cropping systems. The results were summerized as follows; The bulk density of the cut site was near $1.5g/cm^3$ with the hardness above 23mm by Yamanaka method and that of the fill site was $1.3g/cm^3$ with the hardness of 14mm at the first year of reclaiming. The bulk densities and soil hardnesses asymptotically approched to $1.4g/cm^3$ and 19mm, respectively. The chemical productivity of the fill site was also significantly higher than that of the cut site. Differently from the bulk density and hardness, chemical compositions of the fill site maintained high untill the third year of cropping. The yields of soybean, sweet potato and barley from the cut site at the first year were very poor and, thereafter, were remarkably increased by 2 to 9 times at the third year of cropping while those from the fill site maintained high from the first year to the third year of cropping.

To find out problems and changing soil properties induced by leveling of paddy, a field survey was carried out with questionares to farmers of 68 project areas (990 farmers). The soil characteristics between natural soils and cut out sites was compared with soil samples taken from 37 project areas. More than 70 percents of farmers answered to the questionares expressed satisfaction on the paddy land leveling project; however, some farmers replied dissatisfaction that the arable land was decreased the soil productivity due to loss of surface soil or insufficient surface leveling, that the government support was insufficient and that transplanting of rice might be delayed due to retardation of the project. 1. The rate of cut out soils during the land leveling on plain terrain was about 15.3%, but the rates on gently sloped terrain (2-7% slopes) and sloped terrain (7-15% slopes) were relatively high showing 25.9% and 45%, respectively. 2. The deterioration of physical properties was clear in cut out site where the hardness and bulk density increased and the porosity and the rate of water stable aggregate decreased. 3. The degree of deterioration of physical properties on the Diluvial terrace was more severe than on plains or sloped alluvial fans and valleys. The decrease of available phosphorous and the content of organic matter in the cut out place due to land leveling were prominent. 4. The rice yield from cut site was decreased by 28% comparing with that from natural soils.

Image is composed of the digital numbers including information on natural phenomena, their condition and the kind of objects. Digital numbers change in geometric correction(that is preprocessing). This change of digital numbers gave an effect on results of land-cover classification. We intend to know the influence of resampling as classifying land-cover using the image reconstructed by geometric correction in this paper. Chun-cheon basin was selected the study area having most variable land-cover pattern in North-Han river valley and made on use of RESTEC data resampled in preprocessing. Land-cover is classified as six classes of LEVEL I using maximum likelyhood classification method. We classified land-cover using the image resampled by two methods in this study. Bilinear interpolation method was most accurate in five classes except bear-land in the result of comparing each class with topographic map. We should choose the method of resampling according to the class in which we put the importance in the image resampling of geometric correction. And if we use four-season's image, we may classify more accurately in case of the confusion in case of the confusion in borders of rice field and farm.
The purpose of this study is to suggest the optimized transfer algorithm of earthwork considering the precluded area such as the lake, bogs. The earthwork transfer plan in massive cutting and banking should be established because of affecting the construction cost highly. Until now, there was the study about the optimized earthwork transfer model considering the OR(Operating Research). but isn't the study about the model considering the precluded area such as the lake, bogs. In most cases, the engineer adjusts the earthwork transfer path considering the precluded area, manually. The presented model suggests to calculate various visibility paths with $A^*$algorithm after converting the precluded area to polygon topology. By using this paths, the minimum cost path to optimize the earthwork transfer can be obtained. In this study, the validity of the model was proved as implementing the system for the optimized earthwork transfer considering the precluded area.
With rapid industrial development, a railway has become a main traffic means. But, the railway noise has caused much annoyance for the residents living nearby railway tracks. Therefore, execute regulation standard of railway noise has established for quite dwelling environment from January 2000. However efficient soundproofing measures are very difficult because of the lack of basic data and insufficiency of the existing research. In this point, this study attempts to survey the characteristics of attenuation and propagation of railway noise. And this study intends to get the basic data for establishment of a standard for domestic railway noise.
The amount of soil cutting, transported, and filing up the soil in the project area is considered to change the volume depending on the condition of the soil; the volume change rate of the soil is calculated by collecting undisturbed samples below 1 m to 2.0 m above the surface through test pits. In this study, large-scale field tests are carried out. There are areas with an excavation depth of 10m or more, but some errors have occurred in calculating the soil volume by uniformly applying the soil conversion factor for a depth of 1 to 2 m. According to the field tests, the earthwork volumes applied with the soil conversion factor for each depth increase by 3.9 to 9.4% compared to the soil volume applied uniformly with that of 2 m depth.
The flower industry in Gyeongnam Province is the second largest flower producing area after Gyeonggi Province in Korea. Gyeongnam Province is also one of the provinces where flower industry was first introduced, which has started in the middle of 1960s. The share of Gyeongnam Province was 16.2% in area and 14.3% in sales in 2006. The most outstanding feature of Gyeongnam's flower industry is that it has been particularly specialized in cut-flower industry, the share of which was 77.6% of Gyeongnam Province in area. Another feature is that the industry continued to be shrunk in size due to the expansion of urban area. For Gyeongnam's floral industry to be competitive not only in domestic market but in international market, its competitiveness in quality and price is kept being promoted. In addition, the availability of land is essential to the growth of the flower industry of Gyeongnam Province.

This study examined spatial disposition of wildlife highway mortality using road-kill GIS database and Naver panoramic 360 degree views to find out which habitat and road variables most influenced road-kill numbers for each mammal species and how the landscape and road elements are connected on highway. Road-kills on Yeongdong(YD) and Jungbu highway(JB) generally tended to be higher in natural barren, grassland and cropland due to its value of preferred habitats of nocturnal and multihabitat species like water deer(Hydropotes inermis argyropus), raccoon(Nyctereutes procyonoides) and hare(Lepus coreanus). Land cover in YD showed no difference between species (p=0.165) while JB did by species (p=0.001). This may be explained by disparate landscape between mountain and urban or the fact that YD in long term operation might have enabled consistent crossing pattern compared to JB experiencing continuous extension works which may in turn have deviated the road crossing. Although road-kill prevention effect of local topography alone was appreciable, compared to less significant or ineffective fence and guardrail, gentle slope declining in a direction to the road turned out to offset the preventive effect of juxtaposed fence. Furthermore, green patches on road near intersection were deemed a visual stepping stone facilitating wildlife attempted crossing and local roads juxtaposed with a highway were especially left defenceless to road-kill without road barriers.
A retaining wall system is widely constructed civil structure to maximize the effectiveness of practical use of the land. Recently, the technology which is more eco-friendly and owns seismic stability of the retaining wall system becomes important. In this study, an Eco-BELT system using natural rocks as the front wall is introduced and the seismic characteristics of the Eco-BELT system are analyzed based on 2 and 3 dimensional numerical analysis. The soil-structure interface comprises between backfill soil and natural rocks are considered. The relative density is mainly considered to influence the seismic behavior of Eco-BELT system, and T-shaped deadman is also considered to judge the increase of seismic stability. As a result, lateral displacement of the wall decreases 29.5% in maximum under 90% of relative density and decreases 21.2 to 21.9% with T-shaped deadman, therefore, the seismic effectiveness of T-shaped deadman and increasing relative density of backfill are verified by numerical analysis.
The environment in urban are becoming worse and forest is being recognized the major part of city by the increase of population and facilities. This study was carried out to analyze topographic environment as the basis for reasonable management and utility of forest situated in Taejon city and its vicinities using Sandst-5 TM and digital terrain elevation data(DTED). Forest area was extracted by Landsat-5 TM data. Distribution of elevation, slope and aspect was derived from digital terrain elevation data. The research area to analyze ropographic environment for urban forest were Bomumsan, Bongsan, Kabhasan, Sikchangsan, and Kyechoksan. Forest, the largest area in Taejon covers 55.1% of totaf area. This is more 5 times than urban area. 70.8% of forest area in Taejon city is located in elevation of lower than 200m and 4.8% of that is located in elevation of upper than 400m. Distribution of elevation is 45.7% of total area for 100m to 200m in Kyechoksan and is 92.4% of total area for lower than 300m in Bomumsan. Elevation of upper than 300m is 20.4% of total area in Kabhasan and is 46.6% of total area in Sikchangsan. The slope of more 20 digree is over 50% of total area in every area except for Bonsan and 35.2% of total area in Sikchangsan and Kahasan than in Bomumsan and Kyechoksan.
