Development of A Network loading model for Dynamic traffic Assignment (동적 통행배정모형을 위한 교통류 부하모형의 개발)

  • For the purpose of preciously describing real time traffic pattern in urban road network, dynamic network loading(DNL) models able to simulate traffic behavior are required. A number of different methods are available, including macroscopic, microscopic dynamic network models, as well as analytical model. Equivalency minimization problem and Variation inequality problem are the analytical models, which include explicit mathematical travel cost function for describing traffic behaviors on the network. While microscopic simulation models move vehicles according to behavioral car-following and cell-transmission. However, DNL models embedding such travel time function have some limitations ; analytical model has lacking of describing traffic characteristics such as relations between flow and speed, between speed and density Microscopic simulation models are the most detailed and realistic, but they are difficult to calibrate and may not be the most practical tools for large-scale networks. To cope with such problems, this paper develops a new DNL model appropriate for dynamic traffic assignment(DTA), The model is combined with vertical queue model representing vehicles as vertical queues at the end of links. In order to compare and to assess the model, we use a contrived example network. From the numerical results, we found that the DNL model presented in the paper were able to describe traffic characteristics with reasonable amount of computing time. The model also showed good relationship between travel time and traffic flow and expressed the feature of backward turn at near capacity.

  • In order to operate the hydraulic structures efficiently for reducing flood damage after 4 Major River Restoration Project, it is essential to obtain enough hydraulic information with certain reliability. A coupled modeling system, providing spatial hydraulic information, for multi-dimensional hydraulic models was developed to complement 1-D hydraulic modeling. Developed system can offers spatial and grid unit information as well as line and section unit information from 1-D modeling. It is considered that the coupled modeling system can be used to provide various kinds of hydraulic information for river management and treatment.

  • In this study, a three-dimensional non-hydrostatic pressure model based on a normalized vertical coordinate system for free surface flows is presented. To strongly couple the free surface and non-hydrostatic pressure with the momentum equations, a double predictor-corrector method is employed. The study is especially focused on implementing the dynamic boundary condition (a zero pressure condition) at the free surface with ignoring of the atmospheric pressure. It is shown that the boundary condition can be specified easily with a slight modification to existing models.

  • The propagation and associated run-up process of nearshore tsunamis in the vicinity of shorelines have been analyzed by using a two-dimensional numerical model. The governing equations of the model are the nonlinear shallow-water equations. They are discretized explicitly by using a finite volume method and the numerical fluxes are reconstructed with a HLLC approximate Riemann solver and weighted averaged flux method. The model is applied to two problems; The first problem deals with water surface oscillations, while the second one simulates the propagation and subsequent run-up process of nearshore tsunamis. Predicted results have been compared to available analytical solutions and laboratory measurements. A very good agreement has been observed.

  • 오픈 소스 유체역학 소프트웨어인 OpenFOAM은 다양한 유체 흐름에 적용 가능한 프로그램들로 구성되어 있다. 이 중 interFoam은 밀도가 다른 두 유체(i.e., 물, 공기) 간의 경계를 추적하는 기법을 기반으로 한 프로그램으로, 파랑의 거동 모의에 주로 쓰이고 있다. 파생형 프로그램으로는 동격자(dynamic mesh) 및 중첩 격자 기법(overset grid method)을 interFoam에 추가한 overInterDyMFoam이 있다. 두 기법을 사용하면 각각 여러 영역에서 유체흐름과 다중 물체 간의 상호작용을 효율적으로 모의할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 overInterDyMFoam을 사용하여 두 개 수문의 개방 움직임을 구현하고 생성된 파랑이 포말대(swash zone)에 접근하였을 때의 흐름 특성을 조사하였다. 수치모형실험 결과 수문 개방 속도가 댐 붕괴 파랑 흐름 전파속도에 영향을 미치는 사실을 발견하였다. 또한, 처오름과 처내림의 상호작용에 의한 난류 운동 특성을 조사하기 위해 수문 개방시간 간격을 0초~3초로 설정하였다. 수치모형실험 결과는 수리모형실험의 수면 변동 시계열과 속도 시계열 결과와 비교하여 모형의 정확성이 검증되었다.

  • A finite element model is developed for the extended Boussinesq equations that is capable of simulating the dynamics of long and short waves. Galerkin weighted residual method and the introduction of auxiliary variables for 3rd spatial derivative terms in the governing equations are used for the model development. The Adams-Bashforth-Moulton Predictor Corrector scheme is used as a time integration scheme for the extended Boussinesq finite element model so that the truncation error would not produce any non-physical dispersion or dissipation. This developed model is applied to the problems of solitary wave propagation. Predicted results is compared to available analytical solutions and laboratory measurements. A good agreement is observed.

Study on Behaviour of Flood Wave-front Varied with Levee Breach Speed in Flat Inundation Area (평탄지형 제내지에서의 제방붕괴속도에 따른 범람홍수파 선단 거동에 관한 연구)

  • An experimental study was carried out to investigate the characteristics of the propagation distance of a flood wave considering the levee failure speed in a flat inundation area. The Ritter solution for one dimensional flow was considered to formulate the experimental results and a representative form with coefficients of k and m, which consider the three dimensional flow characteristics, was applied. The experiments showed that the propagation velocity of the wave front in the inundation area was influenced by the levee breach speed as well as the initial water level, which is a significant variable representing the flood wave behavior. In addition, coefficients k and m are not constants, but variables that vary with levee breach speed. An empirical formula was also suggested using the experimental results in the form of the relationships between k and m. In this study, a large-scale experiment for flood inundation was carried out to examine the behavior of flooding in the inundated area and the relationships between the levee breach speed and wave-front propagation velocity were suggested based on the experimental results. These research results are expected to be used as the baseline data to draw a flow inundation map, establish an emergency action plan, and verify the two-dimensional numerical model.

  • This paper introduces a program by which we can extract the optimal parameters from the statistical model, the amplitude probability distribution(APD), of the electromagnetic noise using genetic algorithm. The genetic algorithm used in this program has the advantages of the reduction of calculation time, the automation of extraction process, and the operation of global optimization.

Propagation Speed Characteristics of Premixed Methane-Air Flame in a Combustion Chamber with Model of Engine Cylinder (엔진실린더 모형 연소실내의 메탄-공기 예혼합기의 화염전파속도 특성)

  • Flame propagation speed characteristics of methante-air mixtures were experimentally investigated in combustion chamber modelled engine. Flame propagation process was known as a funtion of equivalence ratio initial pressure and initial temperature. Ion probe and schlieren photograph were applied to measure the local flame speed and flame radius in quiescent mixtures. Pressure was also measured to make sure of the reproducibility and to apply combustion analysis. Burning velocity was calculated from the flame propagation speed and combustion analysis. Flames were developed faster with higher initial pressure and initial temperature but showed maximum propagation speed at equivalence ratio 1.1 regardless of initial pressure and temperature. Local flame speed was maximum values at near midpoint between center and wall.

Comparative Study of Hydraulic Analysis Models Using Riemann Approximate Solver (Riemann 근사해법을 이용한 수리해석모형의 비교 연구)

  • 댐 제방 붕괴파는 갑작스러운 유량의 증가가 발생하여 불연속적인 흐름특성을 가지는 충격파(shock wave)가 전파되며, 갈수기 저수기에는 중소하천의 상류, 여울과 소에서의 흐름 또는 낙차공이나 보, 댐 여수로 등의 수공구조물에서 부분적인 사류 흐름이 발생된다. 이 때 흐름은 한계수위를 통과하게 되므로 기존 수치해법의 적용에 어려움이 존재한다. 본 연구에서는 실제하천에 적용될 수 있는 1차원 HLL, Roe Riemann 근사해법들을 간단히 소개하고, 시간공간적으로 2차의 고정확도 기법으로 확장하는 방법에 대하여 소개하였다. 각 기법을 정확해가 존재하는 댐붕괴 및 마른하도 전파의 경우에 적용하여 각 기법의 적용성 및 정확성을 비교하였다. 그리고 기존 Lax-Friedrichs 기법과 Lax-Wendroff 기법의 적용결과를 비교하였다. 적용결과 Lax-Friedrichs 기법을 제외한 모든 기법이 정확해와 잘 일치하였으며 특히 HLL 기법을 2차 정확도로 확장한 WAF 기법이 가장 높은 정확도로 계산되었다. 그러나 비선형 생성항이 존재하는 실제하천에 있어서 MUSCL 기법을 이용한 2차 정확도 기법이 합리적일 것으로 판단된다.
