  • Data on egg production, egg weight and egg mass were obtained from a sample of the Synthetic White Leghorn population which was raised at Poultry Breeding Farm, Seoul National University. Egg mass was not measured directly, but was calculated from the egg numbers and the average egg weight for same period. Phenotypic means, components of variance and covariance, heritabilities and genetic correlations were computed. Egg mass was estimated to be a lowly heritable trait (0.204-0.270). High heritability estimates were found for age at sexual maturity and egg weight. Genetic correlation estimates were high and positive between egg mass and egg number(combined estimates 0.711). Egg mass and egg weight were moderately correlated genetically (0.431). Genetic correlation estimates was -0.280 between egg number and age at sexual maturity, but was 0.524 between egg weight and age at sexual maturity. Results show that selection for total egg mass based on record from a single period will not be satisfactory unless the single period chosen is one in the latter part of the laying year.

  • A rigorous analysis of the scattering problem by the perfectly conducting strip loaded with a dielectric cylinder of different permittivity is presented. By introducing auxiliary electromagnetic fields and applying the reciprocity theorem, integral equations for the unknown electric field are derived. These integral equations are transformed into an equivalent matrix equation of infinite order with proper boundary conditions. By calculating inverse matrix of unknown coefficients from this equation, scattered electric fields are determined. In particular case of the dielectric with the same permittivity, the results of this paper correspond to well-known results.

  • The integral equations used in electromagnetic fields theory can be used for scattering problems. We can obtain various characteristics of scatterer. Ie, power pattern, scattered field, by finding current distribution on the scatterer. In this paper, current distribution on polygonal cylinder is obtained using integral equations in 2 dimension. For numerical aualysis, the moment method is used with pulse function as a basis function and integral equation is used with extrapolation method, which saves cpu time.

  • The scattering of incident ions and target atoms in the amorphous solid matters are calculated by Monte Carlo simulation method. The experimentally derived universal scattering cross-section of Kalbitzer and Oetzmann is used to describe nuclear scattering. For electronic energy loss, the Lindhard-Scharff and Bethe formula are used. Comparing the ion scattering formulas and ranges with the known results of experiment and other programs, we find our results are good agreement with others.

  • In this paper the two-dimensional scattering rates were calculated in pseudomorphic Al/sub x//Ga/sub 1-x//As/Ga/sub y/In/sub l -y//As/GaAs heterostructure systems. The electronic states of the square quantum well were determined by the numerical self-consistent solution of Poisson's and Schrodinger's equations. The numerically obtained wave functions and energy levels were used to obtain the major two-dimensional scattering rates in this structure. Polar optical- and acoustic-phonon scattering, piezoelectric, ionized impurity and alloy scattering were considered for the first two sub-bands. The results were compared to the three-dimensional scattering rates also calculated in the same region.

  • For H-polarized incident plane wave, an exact integral expression for the scattered field by an inversely tapered resistive half plane is obtained by using Kontorovich-Lebedev transform. Uniform asymptotic results available for all angles are obtained, and non-uniform asymptotic results which provide the ray-optical interpretation of the calculated scattered field are also obtained. The edge diffraction patterns for several values of inverse proportionality of resistivity are shown. We find out that the results are in agreement with physical reasoning.
