Relationships among Students' 3rd Year High School Characteristics, College English-mediated Subject Courses, Career Decision Type, and Employment Status (대학에서의 전공영어강의 수강 경험, 고등학교 3학년 때의 경험, 고3 때의 특성, 대학에서의 영어전용 전공강좌 수강경험, 진로결정 유형과 고용상태와의 관계 탐색)

  • Using the 1st and 7th waves of KEEP(Korea Education and Employment Panel), this study explores the relationships among 212 participants' characteristics during high school, experience of taking English-mediated subject courses(EMSC) during college, career decision types, and employment status. These students' high school experiences and college experiences were used to predict the log-odds of taking and the understanding EMSC. Results of the analysis showed that none of high school characteristics such as career decision, English private education experience, interest in English, and their scholastic aptitude test score in English were associated with taking and understanding EMSC. Among college experience variables, only female students' level of understanding English subject courses was statistically significantly higher than that of male students. There were statistically significant positive associations between the understanding the EMSC and the number of the EMSC taken and also between the understanding of the EMSC and perceived usefulness of the EMSC. There was also a statistically significant relationship between career types (continuing with graduate studies vs. working) and taking EMSC, but the relationship between career types and understanding the EMSC was not statistically significant. In addition, the relationship between the experience of taking EMSC and employment status was not statistically significant.

Biomass Carbon Emissions according to Conversion of Forest Land in Korea (산지전용에 따른 우리나라의 임목바이오매스 탄소배출량)

  • This study was achieved by purpose to measure carbon emissions by conversion of forest land in Korea to correspond to UNFCCC. The conversion of forest land data extracted in forest basis statistical data during the latest 5 years from 2000 to 2004, and biomass carbon emissions used biomass extension factor by forest types and carbon conversion factor. During the latest 5 years, the forest land of the annual means about 7,200ha was conversed as other expenditure and tree volume of the annual mean about $212,000m^3$ was felled. It was calculated that total biomass carbon emissions by conversion of the forest land emits annual mean 105,000tC during the latest 5 years. Biomass carbon emissions by forest types was calculated that coniferous forest emits 54,000tC and deciduous forest emits 51,000tC. It was calculated that carbon emissions per ha by conversion of the forest land emits annual mean 14.4tC/ha during the latest 5 years. Seeing by forest types, coniferous forest emits 13.3tC/ha and deciduous forest emits 18.5tC/ha. Therefore, it was shown that deciduous forest emits more carbon per unit area than coniferous forest.

A Study on the Signal Control Unit's Reconstitution to Control the Separated Through/Left(or Right) Turn and the Median Bus Lane Signal for the Standard Traffic Signal Controller (표준규격 교통신호제어기에서 교통류별 전용신호 구현방안 연구)

  • According to the change of the traffic conditions, the requirement of controlling the separated left(or right) turn, the median bus lane and bicycle signal is increasing. However, the traffic signal controller standard based on the four-set lights restricts to control the three-set lights which control the separated direction and kind of traffics. This study suggests the method to control the three-set lights signal by improving the hardware and software for the traffic signal controller which is operated currently in the traffic scene. The 6 output ports of Load Signal Unit(LSU) which is consisted of Pedestrian Red, Pedestrian Green, Red, Yellow, Arrow and Green signal reconstitute 2 rows of the Red, Yellow, Green for three-set lights while the Signal Map data's code values which control the signal step of an individual Ring and LSU are established to adjust the LSU's output ports(R1 Y1 G1 R2 Y2 G2) of the three-set lights. The effect of using the separated through/left turn and the median lane bus signal of three-set lights is analyzed from a Mangwoo intersection in Seoul. The results of analysis show that the delay time of the east-west direction where the median bus lane is operated is especially improved with over 70 sec/veh.

The Analysis of Assessment Factors for Offshore Wind Port Site Evaluation (해상풍력 전용항만 입지선정 평가항목에 관한 연구)

  • The offshore wind farm is increasingly attractive as one of future energy sources all over the world. In addition, the capacity of an offshore wind turbine gets larger and its physical characteristics are big and heavy. In this regard, a special port is necessary to assemble, store, and transport the offshore wind systems, supporting to form the offshore wind farms. Thus, this study aims to provide a policy maker which evaluation factors can significantly affect to the optimal site selection of a offshore wind port. For this, Fuzzy-AHP method is applied to capture the relative weights. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. Five criteria in level I was defined such as the accumulation factor, the regional factor, the economic factor, the location factor, and the consortium factor. Of these, the accumulation factor(37.4%), the location factor(34.2%), and the economic factor( 24.5%) were analyzed by major factors. In level II, three assessment items of each factor were selected so that total fifteen items were formed. To sum up, the site selection of offshore wind port should consider the density of the wind industry, cargo volume of securing the economic operation of terminals, the development degree of offshore wind related industry, and the proximity to the offshore wind farms. In other words, the construction of offshore wind port should be paid attention to considering not only the proximity to offshore wind farms but also the preference of turbine manufacturing companies.

  • A quantitative risk assessment method for quantitatively evaluating the fire risk in designing a road tunnel disaster prevention facilities has been introduced to evaluate the appropriateness of a disaster prevention facility in a large tunnel through which all vehicle types pass. However, since the quantitative risk assessment method of the developed can be applied only to the large sectional area tunnels (large tunnels), it is necessary to develop a quantitative risk assessment method for road tunnels passing only small cars which has recently been constructed or planned. In this study, fire accidents scenarios and quantitative risk assesment method for small road tunnels through small cars only which is based on the methods for existing road tunnels (large tunnels). And the risk according to the distance between cross passage is evaluated. As a result, in order to satisfy the societal risk assessment criteria, the distance of the appropriate distance between cross passages was estimated to be 200 m, and the effect of the ventilation system of the large port exhaust ventilation system was quantitatively analyzed by comparing the longitudinal ventilation system.

우리나라 주식형 펀드의 투자성과에 관한 실증적 연구

  • 이 논문에서는 3대 투자신탁회사의 주식형 펀드의 투자성과를 측정하고자 하는 데 목적이 있다. 추가적으로 자산운용의 실무적 현실을 고려하여 각 펀드의 속성(주식편입비율 한도, 대상투자자, 운용회사)의 차이가 투자성과와 어떤 관련을 갖고 있는가를 분석함으로써 투자신탁에 내재하는 도덕적 위해의 문제를 노출시켜 보고자 한다. 이 논문에서는 우리나라 3대 투신사의 29개 주식형 펀드에 대한 1984. 2분기${\sim}$1993. 1분기의 분기수익률 자료를 사용하여 시장예측능력과 포트폴리오 선택 능력을 측정하였다. 시장예측능력의 척도로서 Henriksson & Merton(1981)이 제시한 척도를 사용하였으며, 선택 능력의 척도로서 Treynor & Black(1973)의 평가비율과 Fama(1972)의 순선택능력 을 사용하였다. 그 결과 자산운용을 담당하는 투신사와 주식편입비율 한도에 관계없이 주식형 펀드들의 시장예측능력과 선택능력 모두가 음의 값을 보이 고 있다. 예외적으로 외국인전용 펀드의 투자성과는 내국인을 대상으로 하는 투자신탁에 비하여 다소 우수한 성과를 보이고 있다. 표본으로 사용한 5개 외국인전용 펀드는 다른 펀드와 마찬가지로 음의 시장예측능력을 보여주고 있으나, 평가비율은 다른 포트폴리오들과는 달리 양의 값을 갖고 있고, 이들의 순선택능력은 음의 값을 보이긴 하지만 다른 포트폴리오보다 그 절대 값이 보다 작다. 이러한 결과는 외국인전용 펀드의 포트폴리오선택능력이 보다 우수하였다는 것을 의미한다. 외국인전용펀드가 보다 나은 선택능력을 보여준 이유는 이들이 투자자문위원회라는 감시 장치를 갖고 있기 때문인 것으로 판단된다. 환언하면 국내투자자용 펀드의 열등한 투자성과는 감시장치가 없는 데 따른 일종의 도덕적(道德的) 위해(危害)로 해석된다.

  • Recently, children's internet search engines are becoming the main method to access information. For those engines to function properly, search behavior of children as their searchers should be studied and the findings be applied to design and improve the systems. So an experiment was conducted and 22 3rd-grade elementary school students performed 3 searching tasks through 'Junior Naver' and 'Yahoo!꾸러기' which are representative children's search engines in Korea. Children's searching behavior was analyzed thoroughly through which the problems of children's search engines were diagnosed and recommendations were suggested to improve them.

  • This research paper is to develop remote data transmission terminal which is adequate to RFID R/W by using UHF/RF RFID R/W module (WJR7090) and Bluetooth communication(FB755AC) with ARM chipset(AT91SAM7S256). The developed UHF RFID R/W terminal performs tagging of RPID value and transmit the value to server with Bluetooth communication, the transmitted RFID tag value is compared to the Database value and the result is transmitted to the terminal. Performance test was done in order to prove the performance of the terminal, and the test result of the terminal's excellency and transmitted/recevied packet is described.

  • The purpose of this study is to establish the standard of fire lane design to improve the performance of disaster prevention in local area. To accomplish it, we have focused on three research methods as below: first, we have expected disaster occurrence based on emergency tendency in local area; second, we have verified fire lane routes design through fire lane modeling and network analysis; third, we have quantitatively examined a possibility of danger of fire lanes through current road network modeling and analysis. The result of this study could be helpful to effective fire lane designs and quantitative analyses.

  • The processing efficiency of the special purpose hardware which is designed and implemented for the FFT caculation was investigated in this paper. This hardware equipment was consisted of LSI chips of four high speed multiplier and adde $r_stractor, and was interfaced with the 16bit microcomputer(NEC PC-9801E). The FFT processing time by this hardware equipment was improved approximately 4.8 times by the co-processor(Intel C8087-3).3).
