Three Phase Voltage Phase Shifter Using Three Phase PWM AC/AC Buck Converter (3상 PWM AC/AC Buck 컨버터를 사용한 3상 전압 위상천이기)

  • Phase shifter has been used as a means of power-flow control and for transient stability improvement in AC transmission system. Until now, phase shifters have been based on an injection transformer. Conventional phase shifters with tap changers require regular maintenance and allow only step-like control of the phase angle. This paper propose a three-phase phase shifter using PWM AC/AC converter, which can improve system response and control stability in the applications. This paper deals with the circuit topology, operating principle so that the features of the phase shifter will be shown through computer simulation, especially using PSIM software.

  • 본 논문에서는, 위상-천이 제어 기반의 액티브 정류기 구조를 갖는 새로운 고효율 풀-브릿지 컨버터를 제안한다. 기존의 위상-천이 풀-브릿지 컨버터는 풀-브릿지 구조로 인한 스위치의 작은 도통손실과, 영전압 스위칭 등의 특징으로 인해 높은 용량에서 널리 쓰이는 토폴로지이다. 하지만, 위상-천이 풀-브릿지 컨버터는 넓은 입력전압 범위에서 설계되면 1차측에 큰 환류 전류가 생겨 도통손실이 증가하는 문제점을 갖는다. 따라서 이를 해결하기 위해, 제안하는 회로는 액티브 정류기를 사용하여 1차측 스위치들이 항상 최대 시비율로 동작할 수 있게 한다. 이로 인하여 순환 전류가 사라져 넓은 입력전압 범위에서도 높은 효율을 달성 할 수 있다. 뿐만 아니라, 제안하는 정류기의 구조 상 특징으로 인해 액티브 정류기의 스위치는 전압 링잉을 갖지 않고 출력 전압으로 고정되어 낮은 전압 스트레스를 갖는다. 제안하는 회로의 효용성을 증명하기 위해, 250-400V 입력, 56V/12.8A 출력에서 실험이 진행되었다.

  • 광 전송 마이크로 셀룰라 시스템과 부반송파 다중 송신 시스템 같은 마이크로파 광 전송기술을 이용한 시스템들은 송신기의 비선형성에 의해서 발생하는 많은 왜곡 성분들, 특히 레이저 다이오드에서 발생한 왜곡 성분들에 의해서 많은 성능의 제한을 받는다. 이러한 왜곡 성분들을 제거하기 위해서 광 피드포워드 방식을 이용한 광 송신기를 제안하였다. 제작된 피드포워드 선형화 아날로그 광 송신기는 2.1 GHz 투톤 실험에서 38 dB의 IMD 개선 효과를 보였다. 여기에서 위상 천이기와 전압 가변 감쇄기는 신호 크기 허용오차를 0.1 dB, 위상 허용오차 $1^{\circ}$범위 이내에서 설계하였다. 이를 위해서 세밀한 위상과 크기의 조정이 가능한 위상 천이기와 전압 가변 감쇄기를 제작하였고, 측정한 결과, 전압 가변에 따른 위상 변화량과 크기 변화량은 각각 위상 천이기는 $90^{\circ}$, 전압 가변 감쇄기는 14 dB를 기록하였다.

  • Conventional phase shift full bridge (PSFB) converter has serious voltage oscillation problem across the secondary rectifier diodes, which would require the dissipate snubber circuit, thus degrades the overall efficiency. To overcome this problem a new simple voltage oscillation reduction technique (VORT) which effectively reduce the voltage oscillation of the secondary rectifier diodes for phase shift full bridge converter is proposed. Therefore, no dissipate snubber for rectifier diodes is needed. In addition, since it has wide zero voltage switching (ZVS) range, high efficiency can be achieved. Operational principle, analysis of voltage oscillation, and design consideration are presented compare with that of the conventional PSFB converter. To confirm the validity of the proposed VORT, experimental results from a 420W prototype are presented.

  • In this paper, we present a 2 GHz compact analog phase shifter with linear phase-tune characteristic. The compact phase shifter was designed base on a lumped all pass network and implemented using a ceramic substrate fabricated with thin-film technique. For a linear phase-tune characteristic, a capacitance of the varactor diode for a tuning voltage was linearized by connecting series capacitor and subsequently produced an almost linear capacitance change. The inductor and bias circuit in the all pass network was implemented using a spiral inductors for small size, which results in the size reduction to $4\;mm{\times}4\;mm$. In order to measure the phase shifter using the probe station, two CPW pads are included at the input and output. The fabricated phase shifter showed an insertion loss of about 4.2~4.7 dB at 2 GHz band and a total $79^{\circ}$ phase change for DC control voltage from 0 to 5 V, and showed linear phase-tune characteristic as expected in the design.

  • Noises from circuits components and interference with other circuits components generate the phase noise in voltage controlled oscillators (VCO). The effects of the random noise on the phase noise is depending on the instant when the noise enters the VCO. When the noise enters at the transition time of the output of VCO, the effect is most prominent. Using this time variable system, it is revealed that the power spectral density of phase noise of VCO is made of the integrated noise powers of frequency components slightly offset from the fundamental and harmonic frequencies.

  • 본 논문에서는 위상 천이 풀 브릿지 컨버터와 공진형 하프 브릿지 컨버터를 통합한 구조에서 새로운 센터탭 클램프 회로를 적용하였다. 하프 브릿지 컨버터가 통합되어 있는 구조를 통하여 기존 위상 천이 풀 브릿지 컨버터가 가지고 있는 여러 단점을 개선할 수 있으며, 또한 제안하는 클램프 회로를 통해 이차측 전압 스트레스 및 출력 커패시터의 사이즈 측면에서 개선점을 갖는다. 이러한 장점들을 통해 효율과 비용 측면에서 큰 효과를 갖는다. 3.3 kW 의 프로토타입을 통해 실험으로 검증하였다.

Design of a Miniaturized 5.3 GHz 360° Analog Phase Shifter (소형화된 5.3 GHz 대역 360° 아날로그 위상천이기 설계)

  • In this paper, a design and fabrication of miniaturized 5.3 GHz reflection type $360^{\circ}$ analog phase shifter with branch line coupler and $360^{\circ}$ variable reactance load. In order to miniaturize phase shifter, novel branch line coupler is proposed. The novel branch line coupler is miniaturized using transformation of transmission line to T and ${\pi}$ type equivalent circuit. The miniaturized branch line coupler has small size of above 50 % compared with conventional branch line coupler. For wide phase shift range, $360^{\circ}$ variable reactance load structure is adopted. Especially, the structure was improved for linear phase shift by adding transmission line which acts as an impedance transformer. The improved structure was miniaturized using the equivalent lumped-element of transmission line. The fabricated phase shifter with $15{\times}15mm^2$ shows wide phase shift of above $480^{\circ}$, the insertion loss of -4~-6 dB and the reflection loss of below -20 dB at 5.3 GHz under 0~10 V control voltage range.

  • In this paper, we propose a 4-coupled ferroelectric-based meander-type microstrip-line tunable phase shifter which has less than 2dB of insertion loss (IL) and larger than 10dB of return loss (RL)over 13~170Hz .Particularly at 15GHz, the differential phase shift (DPS) is observed to be $89{\circ}$ at zero bias and it increases up to $115{\circ}$ when 150V is applied. This indicates a DPS tunability of $26{\circ}$.
