  • OSPF is the optimized routing protocol in wired network and considered as a tactical routing protocol in wireless tactical communication network. However because it is designed basically based on wired environment, it runs inadequately in wireless tactical environment: noise and jamming signal. So, we proposed new OSPF cost function to develop active routing protocol in wireless tactical communication network. In redefined cost function, there are four parameters that are relative transmission speed, link weight, router utilization, link average BER(Bit Error Rate). These parameters reflect wireless tactical characters. Also, we remodel the option field in Hello packet. It can help user to periodically check the link state. From the simulation result, it is shown that proposed OSPF is better than OSPF in jamming situation and has accumulative delay gain with dispersion of traffic load in entire network.

  • As tactical networks are gradually shifting toward IP-based flexible operation for diversified battlefield services, QoS(Quality-of-Service) coordination for service differentiation becomes essential to overcome the heterogeneous and scarce networking resources limitations. QoS coordination for tactical network traffic should be able to monitor and react the dynamic changes in underlying network topology and service priorities. In this paper, by adopting the emerging cloud-native service mesh concept into tactical network context, we study the feasibility of intelligent QoS coordination by employing tactical service mesh(TSM) as an additional layer to support enhanced traffic quality monitoring and control. The additional TSM layer can leverage distributed service-mesh proxies at tactical mesh WAN(Wide Area Network) nodes so that service-aware differentiated QoS coordination can be effectively designed and integrated with TSM-assisted traffic monitoring and control. Also, by validating the feasibility of TSM layer for QoS coordination with miniaturized experimental setup, we show the potential of the proposed approach with several approximated battlefield traffics over a simulated TSM-enabled tactical network.

  • The tactical network has several different characteristics compared with commercial internet network such as hierarchical topology, dynamic topology changing and wireless link based connectivity. For considering IP mobility management in the tactical network, current mobility management using Mobile IP(MIP) is not suitable with some reasons such as non-optimal routing paths and single point of failure. Proxy Mobile IP(PMIP) which supporting network-based mobility in hierarchical manner can provide optimal routing path in the tactical network environment, but centralized anchor is still remained a threat to the stability of the tactical network which changes its topology dynamically. In this paper, we propose PMIP-based distributed mobility management for the tactical network environment. From our design, routing paths are always configured in optimized way, as well as path is recovered quickly when the mobility anchor of user is failed. From numerical analysis, comparing to other mobility scheme, result shows that the proposed scheme can reduce packet transmission cost and latency in tactical network model.

  • In this paper, we proposed an enhanced monopulse MIMO radar system for the tactical scenario where the ground receivers are connected wireless backhaul and closely spaced. By applying the ${\alpha}{\beta}$ filter to the conventional monopulse MIMO radar, we show that the localization performance can be improved significantly. We also propose an efficient localization algorithm for a system with lower rate feedback. Using numerical simulations, we demonstrate that the proposed scheme can improve the localization performance while reducing the feedback over conventional scheme.

  • In this paper, we propose a transmission scheme of MAC protocol that enables secure voice communications by exploiting the wide spectrum and low signal strength characteristics of the ultra wide band technology. In addition, it also supports high level of terminal mobility by deploying mobile ad hoc network schemes. While most of existing UWB MAC protocols are operated as a synchronous mode, the proposed scheme operates in an asynchronous mode for supporting high mobility and sends voice packets without RTS/CTS control packets for efficient voice traffic transmission without retransmission. With simulation program, we prove that the proposed scheme satisfies the required voice quality and packet delivery time.

  • Tactical network environments are characterized by unreliable connectivity, communication links which has limited bandwidth compared to commercial networks and distributed architecture where users have high mobility. The best route should be selected based on the required traffic characteristics which can be a wireless channel environments and a status of nodes which are moving. Those characteristics are self aware and should be a routing decision factor in order to guarantee a reliable data transfer. In this paper we define the requirements of services and traffic characteristics on tactical network environments and suggest the new routing method "AODV-IMTC" based on selective routing metric to enable efficient data transfer in wireless ad hoc networks.

  • Armed forces conducts war under volatile and unpredictable situation. Constructing communication system which ensures a victory is very important and difficult work. Traffic modeling has been conducted to derive WNW topology which meets operational requirements and capability under tactical environment. The result of study explains based on DTaQ's IER that company level cluster has 10~20% better packet receive rate than brigade level size.

  • During the ground operation of Korean army, the voice message is mainly used for exchanging informations related to the surveillance and reconnaissance, command and control, and precision strike. However, in order to the battlefield visualization among fighting powers participating in the ground force operation, automatic situational awareness and variable message format (VMF) for command and control are required. For securing core technologies necessary for the battlefield visualization, message standard and message handler are established through several applied researches. Besides, the VMF for equipping a weapon system is in development. In this paper, a study on the Korean variable message format (KVMF), where interoperability of integrated battle management system (BMS) is guaranteed due to performing joint, ground, and combined operations so that the situation awareness and strike system can be automated in almost real time, is presented. From the modeling and simulation (M&S) results of the message processor, delay time is varied in accordance with the number of nodes in unit platoon network, message length, and generation interval of routine messages. Therefore, it is shown that the system performance can be optimized by establishing proper network protocol for each situation.

  • This study aimed to discover the most influential player in the network of Soccer game and how individual players contribute within the team with quantitative capabilities they possess. It also examined whether or not the network of relationship between players and the coach's tactics were in harmony. The results showed high level of correlation between the network between offenders and defenders according to tactics of the coach during the first half. It can be said that each players fulfilled their role and formed a network within them to lead the game and form a virtuous network structure. On the other hand, the overall network of the team was focused on a specific player during the second half. But the coach's appropriate use of substitutes and change in tactics stabilized the network balance between the players.

  • As the development of games continues, the intelligence of NPC is becoming more and more important. Nowadays, the NPCs of MMORPGS are not only capable of simple actions like moving and attacking players, but also utilizing variety of skills and tactics as human-players do. This study suggests a method that grants characters used in RPG(Role-Playing Game) an ability of training and adaptation using Neural network and Genetic Algorithm. In this study, a simple game-play model is constructed to test how suggested intellect characters could train and adapt themselves to game rules and tactics. In the game-play model, three types of characters(Tanker, Dealer, Healer) are used. Intellect character group constructed by NN and GA, and trained by combats against enemy character group constructed by FSM. As the result of test, the proposed intellect characters group acquire an appropriate combat tactics by themselves according to their abilities and those of enemies, and adapt change of game rule.
