  • In Korea, a large portion of aerial power-transmission cables is installed in the mountains. In the case of a fire in the mountains, steel wires coated with zinc and aluminum wires of those power cables exposed to the fire or near around will be deteriorated by the blaze and the high temperature. Deterioration proceeds by interactions of a variety of factors like quality, manufacturing process, the condition of installation and exposure environment of a wire, and so on. Generally, the characteristic of a conductor affect by a forest fire can not be analyzed without the effect through simulating a forest fire. However, there are little research accomplishments of that kind of simulation about it, and there's been no analysis of a sample exposed to an actual forest fire. This thesis shows the experimental results that apply to a new wire by an artificial flame-maker because it's difficult to directly analyze the characteristic of deterioration by a forest fire. Those results include the intensity of extension and wrench for a conductor. In addition, there's been an experiment and analysis about the mechanical characteristics of the wire of ACSR 480[$\textrm{mm}^2$] which was removed from Pohang area by a forest fire. Then, the database will be made to predict the state of deteriorated wires by a forest fire using those two data, and data necessary to diagnose the life state of an ACSR wire affected by a forest fire will be given.

  • Cable fairings of guided missiles are generally used for protection of electric cables under aerodynamic heating and mechanical loading. The stress distributions between a cable fairing and missile main body along a cable fairing are necessary for its design. In this paper, a method for bonding stress and strength analysis of a cable fairing has been investigated and its computer program developed. Tensile and three-point bending tests of generally used bonding materials were also conducted to supply basic material properties for design of cable fairings.

  • Recently, the application of high strength and high performance concrete has been gradually increased as an important construction material for high rise and huge scaled construction. However, high performance concrete has undesirable characteristics of spalling subjected to high temperature due to its dense microstructure content. A spalling by fire brings surface failure and falling off concrete member. It is considered that spalling by fire should be taken into account for the safety of the concrete structure under fire. Therefore, in this paper, tests are carried out using high performance concrete containing polypropylene(PP) fiber in order to improve the fire resistance performance. PP fiber contents and member sizes are varied. According to experimental results, as for the influence of PP fiber contents, all the test specimens without PP fiber show entire failure in W/C of 35%, while they show nearly sound shape except some kinds of surface fracture in W/C of 55%. When PP fiber is contained more than 0.07%, favorable prevention effects of spatting by fire are obtained. As for the effects of test specimens size, it tends to increase the possibilities of spatting by fire as test specimens become larger. And spatting by fire at the edge of test specimens occurs more frequently than at the surface of test specimens. Residual compressive and tensile strength shows 45∼65 % of its original strength at W/C of 35%, and 30∼40% at W/C of 55 %.
