  • When computing the flow around complex three dimensional aircraft configurations, the generation of the grid is the most time consuming part. This paper presents a survey of the grid generation technique. The technique for treating problems arising in surface grid generation for complex geometries is addressed. Several example grids are shown, demonstrating the ability of the method to discretize complex geometries.

  • This paper describes the flow analysis of the automobile with crosswind effects of $15^{\circ},\;30^{\circ}\;and\;45^{\circ}$ of yaw angle. The governing equations of the 3-D unsteady incompressible Navier-Stokes equations are solved by the iterative time marching scheme. The Chimera grid technique has been applied to efficiently simulate the flow around the side-view mirror. The A- and C-pillar vortex and other flow phenomena around the ground vehicle are evidently shown.

  • In this paper, the preconditioned multistage time stepping methods which are popular multigrid smoothers is implemented for the compressible Navier-Stokes calculation with full-coarsening multigrid method. The convergence characteristic of the point-Jacobi and Alternating direction line Jacobi(DDADI) preconditioners are studied. The performance of 2nd order upwind numerical fluxes such as 2nd order upwind TVD scheme and MUSCL-type linear reconstruction scheme are compared in the inviscid and viscous turbulent flow caculations.

  • Curved intakes are commonly used from commercial aircraft to military missile. Sound radiation from the intake of air vehicle affects cabin noise, community noise and military detection. In this paper, Sound radiation from curved intake is computed using the high order, high resolution scheme. The generalized characteristic boundary conditions, adaptive nonlinear artificial dissipation model and conformal mapping for high order, high resolution scheme are used. The geometric change of curved intake and the frequency of acoustic source are considered. Two dimensional Euler equations are solved for theses analyses.

  • The effect of the external balance strut on the wind tunnel model is investigated with simplified geometries. For this study, flat plate and elliptic wing are simulated with and without a cylinder. Pressure and wall shear stress distribution are analyzed to understand the effect of the cylinder.

  • The dynamic load caused by sloshing of internal fluid severely affects the structural and control stabilities of cylindrical liquid containers accelerating vertically. If the sloshing frequency of fluid is near the frequency of control system or the tank structure, large dynamic force and moment act on launching vehicles. For the suppression of such dynamic effects, generally flexible ring-type baffles are employed. In this paper, we perform the numerical analysis to evaluate the dynamic suppression effects of baffle. The parametric analysis is performed with respect to the baffle inner-hole diameter and two different baffle spacing types : equal spacing with respect to the tank and one with respect to the fluid height. The ALE (arbitrary Lagrangin-Eulerian) numerical method is adopted for the accurate and effective simulation of the hydrodynamic interaction between fluid and elastic structure.

  • A numerical investigation has been performed to discuss the radiation-affected steady-laminar natural convection in an enclosure under a large temperature difference. Due to inherent nature of this study, the Boussinesq approximation is no longer valid. Therefore the radiating fluid in an enclosure is treated as a ideal gas. To examine the effects of thermal radiation on thermo-fluid dynamic behaviors in complex geometries, two incomplete partitions are introduced. Based on the results of this study, the dispositions of incomplete partitions with radiatively participating medium are found to incur a distinct difference in fluid-dynamic as well as thermal behavior.

  • 균열성암반의 모형화 기술은 계속적으로 보완발전되어 UDEC이 개발되었으며, 현재 UDEC의 최신판은 블록 내부를 다시 유한차분요소로 분할하여 블록의 소성거동(Mohr-Coulomb Model) 및 쪼개짐을 고려할 수 있고, 절리면에서의 유체흐름 및 유압의 발생, 그리고 열응력 해석 등 평면변형 문제의 정적해석과 지진 및 폭발하중을 고려한 동적해석이 가능하다. UDEC은 전처리 기능이 뛰어나 최소한의 입력데이타로써 전체 모형의 데이타를 자동생성시키며 절리면의 통계학적 자동생성 및 터널형상의 자동생성도 가능하다. UDEC은 실용적인 보강요소를 구비하여 Rock Bolt 뿐만 아니라 그라우트를 고려한 Cable Bolt를 모형화할 수 있으며 국부적인(Key Block)보강으로써 불연속체 전체의 안정을 검토할 수 있다.
