From November 30, 2019 to Jan 20, 2020, 6 nurses with more than 5 years of clinical experiences and working in a regional university hospital participated in the four focus group interviews. The collected qualitative data was analyzed by the content analysis method. The personality required of clinical nurses is 'process of self-regulation and effort for patient care', 'components for human-centered nursing', 'influence to create healthy interpersonal relationships', and 'nursing'. Configure and operate the organization. It was analyzed into a total of five main themes and 17 sub-themes: "Influence to make changes" and "Influence to bring about organizational change and results." • Objectives: This study evaluated the perception on importance of interprofessional core competencies (PI-ICCP) scale. Methods: Data were collected from 353 college students of health. Content validity was tested using the content validity index for individual items(I-CVI) and for scale(S-CVI). Criterion validity was tested using the professional competencies scale developed by Choi. Reliability was evaluated using Cronbach's coefficient alpha. The goodness-of-fit of the construct validity was determined through exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses. Results: The I-CVI of each item was .8 or higher for all items, and the S-CVI was .98. The reliability of the PI-IPCC was Cronbach's α=.98. The goodness-of-fit indices of the model were χ2=1811.54(p<.001), the comparative fit index (CFI)=.91, and root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA)=.08, which satisfied the criteria. Conclusions: The construct and criterion-related validity of the perception for PI-ICCP scale were a good fit, so the instrument is appropriate for measuring perception on importance of interprofessional core competencies. Further research will be required using this instrument to investigate perception of interprofessional core competencies of health professionals.

Methods: This cross-sectional descriptive study analyzed 175 emergency department nurses caring for pediatric patients at 7 university hospitals with more than 500 beds, located in Seoul and Gyeonggi Province. The measurement tool was modified from the Classification of Standard Nursing Activities to measure the frequency, importance of PENP, and nursing competence. It comprised 143 items in 16 domains of PENP. Results: The most frequent nursing practice was the domain of 'nursing records and environmental management' and the least frequent practice was the 'research and consulting' domain. The nursing care domain perceived to be most important by nurses was 'specialized intensive nursing care'. The nursing care domain with the highest level of nursing competence was 'hygiene care', and the domain with the least level of nursing competence was the 'research and consulting'. Conclusion: These results will be utilized as basic data for future pediatric emergency nursing education initiatives and for establishing priorities of nursing policy to improve health care for children admitted to the emergency department.

  • Objectives: This study aimed to examine the effects of compassion competence, professional self-concept and nursing practice environment on caring behaviors of clinical nurses. Methods: A convenience sample of 200 nurses was drawn from a tertiary hospital in G city. Structured self-report questionnaires were used to collect data, which were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: A significant difference in caring behaviors of nurses was found for age, educational level, and unit. There were statistically significant positive correlations between study variables. Sensitivity and communication of compassion competence, communication of professional self-concept, and nursing foundations for quality of care in nursing practice environment were significant predictors of caring behaviors, explaining 51.3% of total variance. Conclusions: To improve clinical nurses' caring behaviors, strategies must be developed and implemented for enhancing their compassion competence, professional self-concept, and nursing practice environment.

  • Teachers, parents and students have regarded teacher librarians as a book keeper who doesn't participate in teaching. Consequently teacher librarianship has not satisfied occupational function and qualities of professional workers and teacher librarians' vocational presence appears to be very frail because of school library policies ignoring teacher librarians appointment, the law and system identifing librarinship with teacher librarianship. But its ultimate cause is Library and Information Science Community's attitude of sideliners that doesn't holding teacher librarians oriented preparation programs for their instructional qualification. Thus it is essential for the members of academic communities to recognize teacher librarians as an educational media specialist and develop various curricula in order to strengthen the occupational status of teacher librarians. Also it requires that teacher librarians improve his/her individual ability with self evaluation and increase activities of their professional institutions.

  • The purpose of this study is to review articles related to disaster training for nursing students and nurses by investigating the contents and effects of research. Electronic databases, including CINAHL, Pubmed and RISS were searched. Papers published only in English or Korean were included. Twelve studies were selected from the 3,588 references screened. Most training programs took less than 8 hours, focusing mostly on the response phase of disaster. Intervention methods included simulation, debriefing, action learning, role play, problem based learning and so on. It was found that disaster training programs have significant positive effects on disaster management competency, disaster knowledge, disaster nursing related self-confidence, and disaster response competency. It was also revealed that multidisciplinary practice would help learners enhance cooperation and collaboration with other team members and foster a positive professional identity. Among the selected articles, the randomized controlled trial(RCT) study was just one. Therefore, RCTs are further needed to verify the effects of such an disaster training. Also, further studies considering the characteristics of department and nursing interventions based on all phases of disaster are needed.

The result showed that self-esteem had positive correlation with both of self-efficacy and ego-resilience, and self-efficacy had positive correlation with self-efficacy. Both of self-esteem and self-efficacy were significant to ego-resilience with the explanation power of 59.2%. It is necessary for nursing students to improve their self-esteem and self-efficacy from college education to cope and adapt to various stress situations experienced in the clinical field, and it is required to develop the ego-resilience improvement program using self-esteem and self-efficacy.
