Numerical Investigation on Piled Raft Foundation on Sandy Soils (사질토 지반에 시공된 말뚝전면기초의 수치해석연구)

  • Finite element method was used to compare un-piled and piled raft foundation behaviors on sandy soils in this study. The soil parameters were estimated from SPT tests of 25 boreholes. Based on these soil parameters, a finite element analysis was conducted on un-piled and piled raft foundations. For the un-piled raft, the normalized settlement parameter for raft sizes of $8m{\times}8m$ and $15m{\times}15m$ ranged from 1.02~1.15 and 0.64~0.81, respectively. The raft thickness affects differential settlement and bending moments, but has little effect on load sharing or maximum settlement. Pile spacing greatly affected the maximum settlement, the differential settlement, the bending moment in the raft, and the load shared by the piles, while the differential settlement, the maximum bending moment and the load sharing are not affected very much by increasing the pile lengths.

  • Overhaul and repair service means the sequential processes of disassembly, repair and reassembly for a product which has been used for a long time. Overhaul is required for the companies producing airplanes, ships, trains, military weapons and heavy industrial equipments which are very expensive and have a long life cycle. The most important performance measure of the overhaul repair shop is usually the lead time. Thus, how to design the manufacturing system to meet the delivery date is a major concern in overhaul repair shop. This paper introduces the case study of an overhaul repair shop producing military weapon systems with the 3D simulation tool, $QUEST^{TM}$. At first, the characteristics of overhaul shop and what should be considered for simulation modeling are explained. Then, various simulation scenarios including two types of disassembly systems, one is flow line system and the other is cell system, are discussed with the results of simulation experiments.

Seasonal Variation of Surface Sediment Distribution and Transport Pattern Offshore Haeundae Beach Area (해운대 연안 표층퇴적물 분포의 계절변화와 이동)

  • To study the seasonal pattern of sediment distribution and the transport tendency in Haeundae nearshore area; i) the grain size texture of surface sediment was examined in June, October, and December of 2007, and March and June of 2008, and secondary, ii) the transport tendency was studied by using a two-dimensional sediment transport model of Gao and Collins (1992), and finally, iii) the bathymetric changes were analyzed by using the data collected in February, May, August, and December of 2007 by Haeundae District Office. Spatial distribution of sediment texture, the tendency of sediment transport as well as the bathymetric change showed significant seasonal variations. From June to December of 2007, the eastern part of the Haeundae area, off Dalmaji Hill showed the coarsening of mean grain size with a prominent transport tendency toward the Haeundae beach. On the contrary, the western part of the area, off Dongbaek Island showed a fining trend of mean grain size, and the transport tendency toward the beach was relatively weakened. From December of 2007 to June of 2008, the mean grain size of Mipo Harbor became finer, and the transport tendency toward the central beach decreased. The mean grain size of Dongbaek Island became coarser, while the tendency increased in the direction of the beach. The areas of significant net accumulation and erosion were depicted based on the bathymetric changes between observation periods. During the period of February to May of 2007, net accumulation was observed on the eastern part of the study area, in front of Mipo Harbor. Erosion was generally occurred throughout the area from May to August of 2007. From August to December of 2007, erosion and accumulation was observed off Mipo Harbor and Dongbaek Island, respectively. The change of sediment facies also suggests the accumulation on the eastern coast during the spring, erosion around the entire coast during the summer, and accumulation on the western coast during the winter. The changes in the accumulation and erosion were most apparent during the summer when several typhoons have passed by, while unnoticeable during the spring.

Reduction Effect on Surface Temperature of Reinforced Soil Wall with Vegetated Facing (전면 식생형 보강토 옹벽의 표면온도 저감 효과)

  • A new type of reinforced earth wall(REW) system is developed with vegetated facing which provides proper environment for long-term vegetation and also applicable to high retaining wall system. Vegetated retaining wall is a green alternative for retaining walls and an effective way to reduce heat island effect than conventional block or concrete systems. Several construction sites using vegetated facing is observed to monitor adaptation state of vegetation and estimate surface temperature of wall facing over two years. It was observed that a number of plants including Siberian chrysanthemum adapt well to the inside of the facing blocks because vegetation bag helps to keep a proper condition for vegetation. According to the results using thermographic camera, average surface temperature of vegetated facing is higher for all ranges of coverage ratio of vegetation. The increment of average surface temperature of vegetated facing is larger than that of non-vegetated facing when the air temperature rises, and vice versa.

Comparison of Wave Pressure Acting on the Front Wall According to the Porosity of Caisson Breakwater Having the Cap of Wave Chamber (유수실 상부 덮개가 있는 케이슨 방파제의 유공률에 따른 전면벽 작용 파압 비교)

  • This study experimentally investigated the change in distribution of wave pressure on the front wall according to the variation of the front wall porosity of the caisson breakwater having the cap of wave chamber. First, the wave pressure for the non-porous caissson corresponding to zero porosity was measured and compared with the pressure formula suggested by Goda(1974). The analysis showed that the measured pressure distribution fairly well agreed with the Goda formula, which confirmed the accurate measurement of wave pressure in the present experiment. In case of the porous caisson, meanwhile, the experiment was performed by varying the front wall porosity as 0.2, 0.25, and 0.3. The wave pressure distribution at the front wall showed little difference according to the porosity for most of the test wave conditions, whereas the pressure slightly increased with the porosity for some test waves whose wave heights and periods were relatively large. However, the difference according to the porsosity was insignificant for the wave force at the front wall.

Comparison and Review of GBEF% on the Anterior and Right Lateral Images of Nuclear Hepatobiliary Scan (핵의학 간담도 스캔 시, 전면상과 우측 측면상에서의 담낭박출률에 대한 비교 및 고찰)

  • Purpose In case of nuclear medical hepatobiliary scan, To quantitatively evaluate contractility of a gallbladder, gallbladder ejection fraction (GBEF%) is calculated from anterior images using fatty meal. However, when a gallbladder and other organs overlap on an anterior image, the gallbladder ejection fraction is not accurately evaluated. In order to reduce this error, the objective of our study was to figure out whether there is a significant difference in GBEF% calculated from the anterior and right lateral images. Materials and Methods After intravenous injection of 99mTc-Mebrofenin 370 MBq to randomly 50 patients who visited our hospital, we started to examine nuclear hepatobiliary scan. Using skylight(Philips, United States), we acquired anterior and right lateral image at 10 minutes, 20 minutes, 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 90minutes after injection. Using images at 60 and 90 minutes, gallbladder ejection fraction (GBEF%) was calculated from the anterior and right lateral images using JETstream workspace. For drawing more accurate ROI, CT images were referenced and 4 radiologists calculated the GBEF% in the same image and calculated the average value. We assessed whether there was a significant difference in GBEF% calculated from the anterior and right lateral images using SPSS program(Statistical Package for the Social Science, SPSS Ver.18 Inc. USA). Results About randomly 50 patients, the average value of the GBEF% calculated from the anterior image was 63.212 and the average value of the GBEF% calculated from the right lateral image was 62.666. GBEF% decreased 0.433% on the right lateral image compared with anterior image. Result of paired sample t-test, p value is over 0.05. So, there was no significant difference in GBEF% calculated from the anterior and right lateral images. Conclusion In the case that a gallbladder and other organs are not separated on an anteior image, Right lateral image would be better to acquire more accurate GBEF% than using anterior image.

  • 앞으로 우리가 좋아하는 가수에게 저작관련 인격권이 부여되고, 즐겨보는 만화에는 대여권이 부여되는 등 저작권 관련자들에게 포괄적인 권리를 인정하거나 새로운 권리를 부여하는 이른바‘저작권 권리장전’시대가 열릴 것으로 보인다. 정부는 길게는 1957년 법 제정 이후 50여년 만에 짧게는 1986년 법 제정 이후 20여년 만에 저작권자의 권리를 한층 더 강화하는 방향으로 저작권법을 전면적으로 개정하기 위해 추진하고 있다. 이에 대한 반발도 만만치 않아 앞으로 많은 시행착오가 있을 것으로 예상된다.

Transparent Monopole Antenna on the Front Glass of an Automobile for FM Band (자동차 전면 글래스용 FM 대역 투명 모노폴 안테나)

  • A transparent antenna designed on the front glass of an automobile operating in the FM broadcast band(88~108 MHz) is proposed. A transparent antenna designed on the front glass of the automobile to avoid space limitation is typically positioned as a roof-mounted shark-fin antenna. An antenna designed on the front glass can reasonably solve the problems of low reception sensitivity and radiated interference from antennas for other service bands. The front glass has a unique closed-line structure, and this structure causes the surface current to flow to the front glass's surroundings; thus, the first resonance is caused before the broadcast band. Through the use of this closed-line structure, the surface current distribution is controlled, and an antenna for which the first resonance is operating in the frequency-modulated(FM) band can be designed. Moreover, the use of a micro-metal-mesh film that is a transparent electrode, suitable for designing a radio frequency device, enables the antenna to minimize visual perception through its transparency. The measured reflection coefficient($S_{11}$) of the antenna is less than -6 dB, and the average peak gain is -0.9 dB in the FM band. Experiments show that the transparent antenna on the front glass offers both the space and design freedom required to develop future automotive antennas.

Behavior of grouted bolts in consideration of seep age forces (침투수력을 고려한 전면접착형 록볼트의 거동연구)

  • In a NATM tunnel, fully grouted bolts are widely used as part of supporting system. Grouted bolts play an important role not as to take some parts of load acting on the tunnel lining but as to reinforce the ground adjacent the tunnel. In conjunction with tunnel construction, the presence of groundwater may pose a number of difficulties. With respect to tunnel design, influences of groundwater on tunnel behavior have been considered in many aspects. However, the effect on grouted bolts has been rarely investigated. In this study, the behavior of grouted bolts, which are affected by the seepage forces, was examined. In order to investigate the effects of seepage forces, the theoretical solutions for a drained condition were proposed. Based on the theoretical solutions, ground reaction curves considering seepage forces were obtained. By comparing the ground reaction curves supported by grouted bolts with those for the unsupported cases, the effect of reinforcement was evaluated. Finally, through comparison between supported ground react ion curve s in the drained condition and those in the case of groundwater flow, it was observed that the grout ed bolts are more structurely beneficial when the seepage occurs towards the tunnel than when there is no groundwater flow.
