Mass Transfer Analysis of Metal-Supported and Anode-Supported Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (금속지지체형 고체산화물연료전지와 연료극지지체형 고체산화물연료전지의 물질전달 특성분석)

  • Metal-supported solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) have been developed to commercialize SOFCs. This new type of SOFC has high mechanical strength, but its mass transfer rate may be low due to the presence of a contact layer. In this study, the mass transfer characteristics of an anode-supported SOFC and a metal-supported SOFC are studied by performing numerical simulation. Governing equations, electrochemical reactions, and ceramic physical-property models are determined simultaneously; molecular diffusion and Knudsen diffusion are considered in mass transport analysis of porous media. The experimental results are compared with simulation data to validate the results of numerical simulation. The average current density of the metal-supported SOFC is 23% lower than that of the anode-supported SOFC. However, because of the presence of the contact layer, the metal-supported SOFC has a more uniform distribution than the anode-supported SOFC.

A Study on Protection Coordination Algorithm for Separating Fault Section in LVDC Distribution System (LVDC 배전계통에 있어서 사고구간분리 보호협조 알고리즘에 관한 연구)

  • Current protection-coordination methods use the reverse time characteristics of the T-C curve, which is not effective for a LVDC distribution system because the protective operation time of converters and DC circuit breakers is much faster than AC protection devices. Therefore, an algorithm is proposed for fault-section isolation using the fault current slope to minimize the blackout region and coordinate between converters and protection devices in a rapid and accurate manner. The method deals with the slope characteristics of a fault current, which may depend on the fault location in an LVDC distribution system. Thus, an LVDC distribution system can be operated in a stable manner by isolating the fault section selectively before the shutdown of the main converter using slope characteristics, which change in proportion to the line impedance and fault location. A 1.5-kV LVDC distribution system was modeled to verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm using PSCAD/EMTDC. The system is composed of a distribution substation, LVDC converter, and distribution lines. The simulation results confirm that the proposed algorithm is a useful tool for minimizing the fault section in an LVDC distribution system.

처분환경에서 처분용기 재질의 부식

  • 고준위폐기물 혹은 사용후 핵연료의 처분용기 재질은 각 국의 처분개념과 처분공의 주위 환경에 따라 달라질 수 있다. 용기의 후보재질로는 탄소강, 스텐레스 강, 구리, 니켈, 티탄 혹은 이들의 합금이 주로 고려되고 있으나, 국내에서는 아직 선정되지 않았다. 국내 처분환경에서 이들 재질의 부식특성을 조사하고자 모의 화강암 지하수를 가해 만든 겔 상태의 경주 벤토나이트에 탄소강, 스텐레스 강, 구리 시편을 넣고, $70^{\circ}C$, 아르곤 분위기에서 530일 경과한 후 시편의 표면 변화 (그림 1) 및 무게 감소를 측정하였다. 철 부식시편은 검정색의 철 화합물 층으로 덮여 있었으며, 구리표면에는 노란색의 부식층이 형성되었는데, 이를 XRD로 분석한 결과 $Cu_2O$로 판명되었다. 그러나 $700^{\circ}C$에서 각각 0, 24, 96시간동안 예민화시킨 스텐레스 강 시편들은 모두 초기상태 그대로 광택을 유지하고 있었으며, XRD에서 다른 화합물의 형성을 발견할 수 없었다 (그림 2). 시편의 무게 감소가 균일부식에 기인한 것으로 가정하여 환산한 결과, 구리와 스텐레스 강 모두 0.3~0.4 $\mu\textrm{m}/yr$의 부식속도를 나타내었다. 그러나 구리는 부식생성물이 표면에 부착되어 있기 때문에 실제 부식두께는 이 값보다 더 클 것으로 생각된다. 용기가 초기 530일간과 같은 속도로 처분용기의 부식이 진행된다면 한국에서 기준처분 개념으로 삼고 있는 50mm 두께의 내부식성 외벽 금속용기는 적어도 만년이상 견딜 수 있을 것으로 추정된다. 한편, 검정색 부식층을 제거한 무게감소로부터 계산한 철의 부식속도는 구리의 약 30배에 해당하였다. 금속 재질의 정확한 부식 거동을 파악하기 위해서는 보다 장기간의 실험이 요구된다. 시험법 선정에 각계(규제기관, 학계, 발전소 현장 및 산업계 등) 전문가로부터 기술자문회의를 통하여 자문 의견을 받기로 하였다. 특히 현재 폐기물 인수 기술기준치가 설정된 국가의 시험법을 심층 있게 검토하기로 하였다.검토하기로 하였다. 혹은 수성주변 환경이 지배하는 산악이나 구릉지에서 흔히 나타나는 침엽수-낙엽활엽수의 혼합림 식생상태를 잘 대변해 주고 있는 것으로 판단된다. 끝으로, 의림지 호저 퇴적층 중에서 인위적인 교란흔적이 없는 암회색 유기질 니층에 대한 탄소연대측정 결과, 제1호공 12번 시료에서 950$\pm$40 years B.P을 얻었으며, 제3-1호공에서도 아래로 내려가면서 8, 10, 11번 시료에 대하여 500$\pm$30 years B.P, 650$\pm$30 years B.P, 800$\pm$40 years B.P의 연대측정 결과를 획득하였다. 이상과 같은 의림지 호저 퇴적층의 형성환경과 형성시기 연구를 통하여 의림지의 제방축조의 최초시기를 해석해 보면, 의림지의 제방은 적어도 과거 약 827년 전에서 866년 전에는 이미 축조되어 있었음을 알 수 있다. 과거 제천 일대에 살았던 옛사람들이 의림지 하류의 곡지중앙과 고기 충적선상지에 대한 관계용 용수조달의 필요성에 부응하여 상류부 곡지하천의 자연입지 환경을 최대한 이용하여 축조한 것으로 판단된다..준비하였다.전류를 구성하는 주요 입자의 에너지 영역(75~l13keV)에서 가장 높은(0.80) 상관계수를 기록했다. 넷째, 회복기 중에 일어나는 입자들의 유입은 자기폭풍의 지속시간을 연장시키는 경향을 보이며 큰 자기폭풍일수록 현저했다. 주상에서 관측된 이러한 특성은 서브스톰 확장기 활동이 자기폭풍의 발달과 밀접한 관계가 있음을 시사한다.se that were all low

Seismic Performance Improvement of Base Isolated Buildings using Smart Passive Control System (스마트 수동 제어 시스템을 이용한 면진 건물의 내진 성능 개선)

  • In this study, the efficacy of the newly developed smart passive control system to improve seismic performance of base isolated building structures is numerically verified. The smart passive control system consists of a magnetorheological (MR) damper and an electromagnetic induction (EMI) part. The damping characteristics of an MR damper can be controlled by the current generated in an EMI part according to the Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction. An EMI part consisting of a permanent magnet and a solenoid coil could substitute a control system including sensors, a controller and an external power supply in a conventional smart control system. The benchmark control problem for a base isolated building presented by the american society of civil engineers is considered for numerical simulation. The control performance of the smart passive control system is compared to that of the conventional smart control system using MR dampers. It is demonstrated from the numerical simulation results that the smart passive control system is useful to improve the seismic performance of base isolated buildings.

  • In the field of shipbuilding and marine, electrical power system is that each of the distributed bus bars is connected electrically. In this way, it would be appropriate to recognize as grid-connecting rather than the redundant bus. Short-circuit capacity of the electric power system will be increased proportionally which is due to the addition of the bus. The increase of short-circuit capacity needs high initial cost associated with equipment and can generate the blackout when the equipment with a physically connected to the bus occurs the electric failure. In order to solve these problems, marine electrical power system in which current limiting reactor has been applied is classified according to the network topology, bus network, star network and ring network. And short circuit analysis for each network is performed by the fault types. The results are presented pros and cons compared to each other.

  • In this paper, we suggest an analytical model that can derive the I-V characteristics in the saturation region of a short channel GaAs MESFET. Instead of the pinch-off concept that has been used in the conventional models we can derive the two-dimensional potential in the depletion region in order that the velocity saturation region cannot be pinched-off and the current continuity condition can be satisfied. Obtained expression for the velocity saturation length is expressed in terms of the total channel length, channel doping density, gate voltage, and drain voltage. Compared with the conventional channel length shortening models, the present model seems to be considerably accurate and more reasonable in explaining the Early effect.

The Effects of Learning Cycle on Changing the Students' Conceptions of Electric Current (전류 개념 변화를 위한 순환학습의 효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop the instructional model and teaching material to change the middle school students'conceptions of electric current into the scientific ones and to investigate the effects of the model in actual classrooms. We identified the students' ideas and their misunderstanding about the concept of eIectic current through reviewing the literatures and our in this study. Based on the above results, we developed the instructional model and designed the teaching sequence and prepare the learning materials about the unit of the electric current in middle school Our instructional model was based on 'learning cycle' developed by Lawson, but the new stage called "exploration through qualitative questions" to elicit the students' own conceptions was inserted to it. To investigate the effects or the new teaching model, the pre- and post-test using the POE type were administered to experimental group(52 students) taught with learning cycles and control group(52 students) taught with traditional styles. The results are as follows; 1) The rates of correct. predictions was varying according to the kinds of problems. And the rates of the correct. reasons of their predictions were lower than those of the predictions. 2) The mean scores of the post-test of both groups were significantly higher than those of the pre-test. We could not find statistically significant difference in theme an score between experimental group and control group after implementation of the model. But the experimental group gained higher scores than those of the control group on two problem. Therefore, although we cannot show the prominent effects of our teaching model based on learning cycles, there are some effects of our model on changing the middle school students' conceptions of electric current.

Antenna Factor Characteristics of EMI Dipole Antennas with Coaxial Cable Balun for Frequencies between 30 and 1,000 MHz (동축 케이블 밸런이 부착된 30~1,000 MHz 대역용 EMI 다이폴 안테나의 안테나 인자 특성)

  • This paper presents the characteristics of an antenna factor of two kinds of EMI dipole antennas with a coaxial cable balun used in the frequency range between 30 and 1,000 MHz. The integral equation for unknown current distribution is solved by the Galerkin's method of moments with piecewise sinusoidal functions. An antenna factor for EMI dipole antennas with the coaxial cable balun is derived by using the power loss concepts. We can realize two kinds of EMI dipole antennas with appropriate antenna factors in the frequency range from 30 to 1,000 MHz: 150-cm dipole length($30{\sim}300 MHz$) and 30cm dipole length($300{\sim}1,000 MHz$). To check th ε validity of the theoretical analysis, the complex antenna factor was measured using by reference antenna methods. It is shown that the calculated complex antenna factor is good agreement with experimental results.

  • Worldwide environmental regulations have been enhanced for emission reduction of greenhouse gases and air pollutants; accordingly, some measures were prepared. Furthermore, the need for effective and reasonable energy-saving methods is growing in accordance with that for environmental pollution minimization. In the case of marine engineering, techniques for the development of eco-friendly vessels have been actively studied, including reduction of exhaust gas emissions, development of alternative fuel, and development of a new propulsion system. In this study, we presented the basic concepts and analyzed the speed, current, voltage, and output power characteristics of each operating mode, i.e., operating mode of battery, generator, and full power.

  • To improve light-emitting performance of green phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), we introduced new hole injection materials-hexaazatrinaphthylene (HATNA) derivatives as a solution processed hole injection layer (HIL). The HATNA derivative has a low the lowest unoccupied molecular orbital (LUMO) energy level, similar to the work function of Indium Tin Oxide (ITO), showing a different concept of hole injection mechanism. It was confirmed that the device efficiency of OLEDs using HATNA-HIL showed the improved external quantum efficiency from 10.8% to 15.6% and current efficiency from 32.7 cd/A to 42.7 cd/A due to the balance of electrons and holes in the emissive layer.
