Research on artificial intelligence based battery analysis and evaluation methods using electric vehicle operation data (전기 차 운행 데이터를 활용한 인공지능 기반의 배터리 분석 및 평가 방법 연구)

  • As the use of electric vehicles has increased to minimize carbon emissions, the analyzing the state and performance of lithium-ion batteries that is instrumental in electric vehicles have been important. Comprehensive analysis using not only the voltage, current and temperature of the battery pack, which can affect the condition and performance of the battery, but also the driving data and charging pattern data of the electric vehicle is required. Therefore, a thorough analysis is imperative, utilizing electric vehicle operation data, charging pattern data, as well as battery pack voltage, current, and temperature data, which collectively influence the condition and performance of the battery. Therefore, collection and preprocessing of battery data collected from electric vehicles, collection and preprocessing of data on driver driving habits in addition to simple battery data, detailed design and modification of artificial intelligence algorithm based on the analyzed influencing factors, and A battery analysis and evaluation model was designed. In this paper, we gathered operational data and battery data from real-time electric buses. These data sets were then utilized to train a Random Forest algorithm. Furthermore, a comprehensive assessment of battery status, operation, and charging patterns was conducted using the explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI) algorithm. The study identified crucial influencing factors on battery status, including rapid acceleration, rapid deceleration, sudden stops in driving patterns, the number of drives per day in the charging and discharging pattern, daily accumulated Depth of Discharge (DOD), cell voltage differences during discharge, maximum cell temperature, and minimum cell temperature. These factors were confirmed to significantly impact the battery condition. Based on the identified influencing factors, a battery analysis and evaluation model was designed and assessed using the Random Forest algorithm. The results contribute to the understanding of battery health and lay the foundation for effective battery management in electric vehicles.

Design of 4Kb Poly-Fuse OTP IP for 90nm Process (90nm 공정용 4Kb Poly-Fuse OTP IP 설계)

  • In this paper, we designed a 4Kb poly-fuse OTP IP (Intellectual Property) required for analog circuit trimming and calibration. In order to reduce the BL resistance of the poly-fuse OTP cell, which consists of an NMOS select transistor and a poly-fuse link, the BL stacked metal 2 and metal 3. In order to reduce BL routing resistance, the 4Kb cells are divided into two sub-block cell arrays of 64 rows × 32 rows, with the BL drive circuit located between the two 2Kb sub-block cell arrays, which are split into top and bottom. On the other hand, in this paper, we propose a core circuit for an OTP cell that uses one poly-fuse link to one select transistor. In addition, in the early stages of OTP IP development, we proposed a data sensing circuit that considers the case where the resistance of the unprogrammed poly-fuse can be up to 5kΩ. It also reduces the current flowing through an unprogrammed poly-fuse link in read mode to 138㎂ or less. The poly-fuse OTP cell size designed with DB HiTek 90nm CMOS process is 11.43㎛ × 2.88㎛ (=32.9184㎛2), and the 4Kb poly-fuse OTP IP size is 432.442㎛ × 524.6㎛ (=0.227mm2).

Numerical Analysis of Electrical Resistance Variation according to Geometry of Underground Structure (지하매설물의 기하학적 특성에 따른 전기저항 변화에 대한 수치 해석 연구)

  • Reckless development of the underground by rapid urbanization causes inspection delay on replacement of existing structure and installation new facilities. However, frequent accidents occur due to deviation in construction design planned by inaccurate location information of underground structure. Meanwhile, the electrical resistivity survey, knowns as non-destructive method, is based on the difference in the electric potential of electrodes to measure the electrical resistance of ground. This method is significantly advanced with multi-electrode and deep learning for analyzing strata. However, there is no study to quantitatively assess change in electrical resistance according to geometric conditions of structures. This study evaluates changes in electrical resistance through geometric parameters of electrodes and structure. Firstly, electrical resistance numerical module is developed using generalized mesh occurring minimal errors between theoretical and numerical resistance values. Then, changes in resistances are quantitatively compared on geometric parameters including burial depth, diameter of structure, and distance electrode and structure under steady current condition. The results show that higher electrical resistance is measured for shallow depth, larger size, and proximity to the electrode. Additionally, electric potential and current density distributions are analyzed to discuss the measured electrical resistance around the terminal electrode and structure.

Flexible Planar Heater Comprising Ag Thin Film on Polyurethane Substrate (폴리우레탄 유연 기판을 이용한 Ag 박막형 유연 면상발열체 연구)

  • The heating element utilizing the Joule heating generated when current flows through a conductor is widely researched and developed for various industrial applications such as moisture removal in automotive windshield, high-speed train windows, and solar panels. Recently, research utilizing heating elements with various nanostructures has been actively conducted to develop flexible heating elements capable of maintaining stable heating even under mechanical deformation conditions. In this study, flexible polyurethane possessing excellent flexibility was selected as the substrate, and silver (Ag) thin films with low electrical resistivity (1.6 μΩ-cm) were fabricated as the heating layer using magnetron sputtering. The 2D heating structure of the Ag thin films demonstrated excellent heating reproducibility, reaching 95% of the target temperature within 20 seconds. Furthermore, excellent heating characteristics were maintained even under mechanically deforming environments, exhibiting outstanding flexibility with less than a 3% increase in electrical resistance observed in repetitive bending tests (10,000 cycles, based on a curvature radius of 5 mm). This demonstrates that polyurethane/Ag planar heating structure bears promising potential as a flexible/wearable heating element for curved-shaped appliances and objects subjected to diverse stresses such as human body parts.

  • It is said that PV power generation systems have a long lifespan compared to other renewable energy sources and require little maintenance. However, there are cases where the performance expected during initial design is not achieved due to shading, temperature rise, mismatch, contamination/deterioration of PV modules, failure of inverter, leakage current, and arc generation. Therefore, in order to solve the problems of these systems, the power generation amount and operation status are investigated qualitatively, or the performance is comparatively analyzed based on the performance ratio (PR), which is the performance index of the solar power generation system. However, because it includes large losses, it is difficult to accurately determine whether there are any abnormalities such as performance degradation, failure, or defects in the PV power generation system using only the performance coefficient. In this paper, we studied a status diagnosis algorithm for shading, inverter failure, leakage, and arcing of PV modules to optimize the power generation of PV power generation systems according to changes in the surrounding environment. In addition, using the studied algorithm, we examined the results of an empirical test on condition diagnosis for each area and the resulting optimized operation of power generation.

A Study on the Recycling Process of Nickel Recovery from Inconel 713C Scrap based on Hydrometallurgy (인코넬 713C 스크랩으로부터 니켈 자원 회수를 위한 습식제련 기반 재활용공정 연구)

  • We investigated a hydrometallurgical process of nickel recovery from Inconel 713C scrap. The process proceeded with a series of i) comminution of pyrometallurgical treated scrap, ii) sulfuric acid leaching, iii) solvent extraction of unreacted acid, molybdenum, aluminum, and precipitation of chromium, iv) crystallization of nickel sulfate by vacuum evaporation, and v) nickel electrowinning. The nickel-aluminum intermetallic compound, Ni2Al3, was formed by the pyrometallurgical pretreatment readily grounded under 75 ㎛. Sulfuric acid leaching was done for 2 hours in 2 mol/L, 20 g/L solid/liquid ratio, and 80 ℃. It revealed that over 98 % of nickel and aluminum was dissolved, whereas 28 % of molybdenum was. A nickel sulfate solution with 2.34 g/L for the crystallization of nickel sulfate hydrate was prepared via solvent extraction and precipitation. Over 99 % of molybdenum and aluminum and 93 % of chromium was removed. Nickel metal with 99.9 % purity was obtained by electrowinning with the nickel sulfate monohydrate in the cell equipped with anion exchange membranes for catholyte pH control. The membrane did not work well, resulting in a low current efficiency of 73.3 %.

Studies on Nutrio-physiological Response of Rice Plant to Root Environment (근부환경(根部環境)에 따른 수도(水稻)의 영양생리적(營養生理的) 반응(反應)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究))

  • The nutriophysiological response of rice plant to root environment was investigated with eye observation of root development and rhizosphere in situation. The results may be summarized as follows: 1) The quick decomposition of organic matter, added in low yield soil, caused that the origainal organic matter content was reached very quickly, in spite of it low value. In high yield soil the reverse was seen. 2) In low yield soil root development, root activity and T/R value were very low, whereas addition of organic matter lowered them still wore. This might be contributed to gas bubbles around the root by the decomposition of organic matter. 3) Varietal difference in the response to root environment was clear. Suwon 82 was more susceptible to growth-inhibitine conditions on low-yield soil than Norin 25. 4) Potassium uptake was mostly hindered by organic matter, while some factors in soil hindered mostly posphorus uptake. When the organic matter was added to such soil, the effect of them resulted in multiple interaction. 5) The root activity showed a correlation coeffieient of 0.839, 0.834 and 0.948 at 1% level with the number of root, yield of aerial part and root yield, respectively. At 5% level the root-activity showed correlation-coefficient of 0.751, 0.670 and 0.769 with the uptake of the aerial part of respectively. N, P and K and a correlation-coefficient of 0.729, 0.742 and 0.815 with the uptake of the root of respectively N.P. and K. So especially for K-uptake a high correlation with the root-activity was found. 6) The nitrogen content of the roots in low-yield soil was higher than in high-yield soil, while the content in the upper part showed the reverse. It may suggest ammonium toxicity in the root. In low-yield soil Potassium and Phosphorus content was low in both the root and aerial part, and in the latter particularly in the culm and leaf sheath. 7) The content of reducing sugar, non-recuding sugar, starh and eugar, total carbohydrates in the aerial part of plants in low yield soil was higher than in high yield soil. The content of them, especially of reducing sugar in the roots was lower. It may be caused by abnormal metabolic consumption of sugar in the root. 8) Sulfur content was very high in the aerial part, especially in leaf blade of plants on low yield soil and $P_2O_5/S$ value of the leaf blade was one fifth of that in high yield soil. It suggests a possible toxic effect of sulfate ion on photophosphorization. 9) The high value of $Fe/P_2O_5$ of the aerial part of plants in low yield soil suggests the possible formation of solid $Fe/PO_4$ as a mechanical hindrance for the translocation of nutrients. 10) Translocation of nutrients in the plant was very poor and most nutrients were accumulated in the root in low yield soil. That might contributed to the lack of energy sources and mechanical hindrance. 11) The amount of roots in high yield soil, was greater than that in low yield soil. The in high-yield soil was deep, distribution of the roots whereas in the low-yield soil the root-distribution was mainly in the top-layer. Without application of Nitrogen fertilizer the roots were mainly distributed in the upper 7cm. of topsoil. With 120 kg N/ha. root were more concentrated in the layer between 7cm. and 14cm. depth. The amount of roots increased with the amount of fertilizer applied.

Results of radiofrequency catheter ablation in children and adolescent with tachyarrhythmia (소아 청소년 부정맥 환자에서 고주파 전극도자 절제술의 이용 성적)

  • Purpose : Radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA) has become an effective therapeutic modality for treating pediatric tachyarrhythmias. Using conventional RFCA catheters, ablation of parahisian accessory pathways may be difficult and have high risk for heart block. We reviewed the efficacy and complications of the RFCA in children and adolescent with arrhythmias including parahisian accessory pathways. Methods : We studied 48 patients (aged 2 years to 20 years) who had undergone RFCA from August 2003 to March 2007. We reviewed clinical findings, electrophysiologic studies, RFCA data, complications, and follow-up results of the patients. Results : Mean age of the patients was 13.1 years. Numbers and types of arrhythmias (age, acute success rate) were as follows: 19 WPW syndrome including 5 parahisian accessory pathways ($13.7{\pm}4.6yr$, 18/19), 11 atrioventricular reentrant tachycardia with concealed bypass tract ($12.3{\pm}5.0yr$, 10/11), 13 atrioventricular nodal reentrant tachycardia ($12.6{\pm}4.4yr$, 13/13), 4 atrial flutter ($13.0{\pm}7.4yr$, 3/4), and 1 ventricular tachycardia (20 yr, 1/1). Associated cardiac structural lesion was not detected in 48 patients. The recurrence rate was 6.5%, and the final success rate was 93.8%. Conclusion : These results suggest that RFCA is a highly effective treatment method in children and adolescent with tachyarrhythmia.

A Study on Chloride Threshold Level of Blended Cement Mortar Using Polarization Resistance Method (분극저항 측정기법을 이용한 혼합 시멘트 모르타르의 임계 염화물 농도에 대한 연구)

  • The importance of chloride ions in the corrosion of steel in concrete has led to the concept for chloride threshold level (CTL). The CTL can be defined as the content of chlorides at the steel depth that is necessary to sustain local passive film breakdown and hence initiate the corrosion process. Despite the importance of the CTL, due to the uncertainty determining the actual limits in various environments for chloride-induced corrosion, conservative values such as 0.4% by weight of cement or 1.2 kg in 1 $m^3$ concrete have been used in predicting the corrosion-free service life of reinforced concrete structures. The paper studies the CTL for blended cement concrete by comparing the resistance of cementitious binder to the onset of chloride-induced corrosion of steel. Mortar specimens were cast with centrally located steel rebar of 10 mm in diameter using cementitious mortars with ordinary Portland cement (OPC) and mixed mortars replaced with 30% pulverized fuel ash (PFA), 60% ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS) and 10% silica fume (SF), respectively, at 0.4 of a free W/B ratio. Chlorides were admixed in mixing water ranging 0.0, 0.2, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0% by weight of binder(Based on $C1^-$). Specimens were curd 28 days at the room temperature, wrapped in polyethylene film to avoid leaching out of chloride and hydroxyl ions. Then the corrosion rate was measured using the polarization resistance method and the order of CTL for binder was determined. Thus, CTL of OPC, 60%GGBS, 30%PFA and 10%SF were determined by 1.6%, 0.45%, 0.8% and 2.15%, respectively.

  • This work proposes a 1280-RGB $\times$ 800-Dot 70.78mW 0.l3um CMOS LCD driver IC (LDI) for high-performance 16M-color low temperature poly silicon (LTPS) thin film transistor liquid crystal display (TFT-LCD) systems such as ultra mobile PC (UMPC) and mobile applications simultaneously requiring high resolution, low power, and small size at high speed. The proposed LDI optimizes power consumption and chip area at high resolution based on a resistor-string based architecture. The single column driver employing a 1:12 MUX architecture drives 12 channels simultaneously to minimize chip area. The implemented class-AB amplifier achieves a rail-to-rail operation with high gain and low power while minimizing the effect of offset and output deviations for high definition. The supply- and temperature-insensitive current reference is implemented on chip with a small number of MOS transistors. A slew enhancement technique applicable to next-generation source drivers, not implemented on this prototype chip, is proposed to reduce power consumption further. The prototype LDI implemented in a 0.13um CMOS technology demonstrates a measured settling time of source driver amplifiers within 1.016us and 1.072us during high-to-low and low-to-high transitions, respectively. The output voltage of source drivers shows a maximum deviation of 11mV. The LDI with an active die area of $12,203um{\times}1500um$ consumes 70.78mW at 1.5V/5.5V.
