The Thermocapillary Effect on Pure Conduction Mechanism in a Closed Square Cavity (수평 사각밀폐공간내의 전도열전달 기구에서 열모세관효과)

  • In a closed square cavity filled with a liquid, a cooling horizontal upper wall and a heating lower wall, the flow isn't generated under the ground-based condition when Rayleigh number is lower than 1700. In this mechanism, Ra=1534, Temperature and velocity fields near an air-bubble in silicon-oil under a cooled upper wall were investigated. Temperature and velocity fields is visualized using the thermo-sensitive liquid-crystal and light sheet visualization technique. The quantitative analysis fer the temperature and the flow fields were carried out by applying the image processing technique to the original data. The symmetry shape of two vortexes near an air bubble was observed. As the bubble size increased, the size of vortex and the magnitude of velocity increased. In spite of elapsed time, a pair of vortexes was the unique and steady-state flow in a square cavity and wasn't induced to the other flow in the surround region.

High Mobility, High Work Function 특성을 가지는 ITZO의 박막 분석과 실리콘 이종접합 태양전지 적용에 관한 연구

  • 본 연구는 Zr이 doping된 ITO target (ITO:Zr)을 $200^{\circ}C$ 이하의 낮은 온도에서 RF magnetron sputtering을 이용한 증착으로 high mobility, high workfunction의 TCO 박막을 제작하고 이를 실리콘 이종접합 태양전지의 front TCO 적용에 관한 연구이다. 상기 공정으로 제작된 ITZO 박막의 가장 낮은 비저항은 $2.58{\times}10-4{\Omega}-cm$이며 이때의 투과도는 90%를 얻을 수 있었다. 또한 기존의 TCO로 사용되던 AZO 및 ITO보다 높은 work function으로 인하여 태양전지의 front TCO 적용시 710 mV 이상의 개방 전압 상승과 band-offset 감소에 따른 34.44 mA 이상의 단락전류 상승을 얻을 수 있었다. 또한 높은 mobility에 의한 면저항 감소로 충진률 상승도 얻을 수 있었다. 상기 인자에 대한 태양전지 특성의 변화는 quantum efficiency 분석으로 규명할 수 있었다.

Application of Importance Sampling to Reliability Analysis of Caisson Quay Wall (케이슨식 안벽의 신뢰성해석을 위한 중요도추출법의 적용)

  • Reliability analysis of coastal structure using importance sampling was shown. When Monte Carlo simulation is used to evaluate overturng failure probability of coastal structure, very low failure probability leads to drastic increase in simulation time. However, importance sampling which uses randomly chosen design candidates around the failure surface makes it possible to analyze very low failure probability efficiently. In the numerical example, failure probability of caisson type quay wall was analyzed by using importance sampling and performance according to the level of failure probability was shown.

  • The objective of this paper is to develop a rational reliability analysis procedure for the LRFD design provisions of bridge substructures. A bridge abutments is considered in this study. The reliability analysis is applied to determine the relationship between the major design parameters for bridge abutment and reliability index. The considered load components include dead load, vertical and horizontal earth pressure, earth surcharge, and vehicle live load. Several limit states are considered: foundation bearing capacity, sliding, and overturning. The analysis results show that the most important parameter in the reliability analysis is the effective stress friction angle of the soil. The reliability indices are calculated using Monte Carlo simulations for a selected bridge abutment. The results of the sensitivity analysis indicate that reliability index is most sensitive with regard to resistance factor and horizontal earth pressure factor.

  • 본 논문은 전자 패키징의 방열 성능을 개선하기 위하여 초소형 히트 파이프를 제작하고 열전달 성능을 시험한 결과를 보여준다. IC 칩이 점점 고성능화되고 고집적화되어 감에 따라 발열 문제가 대두되는데, 이 열은 전도만으로는 충분히 소산시킬 수 없고 패키징 표면에 별도의 장치를 장착하는 것은 시스템 소형화의 장애 요소가 된다. 따라서, 고성능 칩 개발을 위한 선결 과제로 고성능 초소형 냉각 장치가 요구되고 있다. 히트파이프는 밀봉된 파이프 내의 2상 유동과 상변화 잠열을 이용하여 열원으로부터 히트 싱크로 열을 효과적으로 전달하는 열교환 장치이다. 본 논문에서는 전자 패키징 내에 집적화할 수 있도록 초소형 히트 파이프 어레이를 제작하여 그 성능을 시험한 결과 증발부의 온도가 $12.1^{\circ}C$ 감소됨을 보인다.

  • In this study, a simple, efficient, user-based program called SCAR was developed for evaluating the sliding and collapse of artificial reefs due to hydrodynamic forces in ocean environments. SCAR was developed by applying Delphi code and a Graphical User Interface (GUI) based on the Morison formula for evaluating and analyzing the stability of artificial reefs. SCAR can be applied widely for design and stability evaluation of fishery structures (such as artificial reefs or other underwater structures) in undergraduate and graduate courses and by experts in the field.

  • 인후부, 하인두부 및 경부 등에 종양감각(lump sensation)등의 이상감각을 호소하는 globus 증후군은 Hippocrates가 처음 기술한 이래 많은 저자들에 의해 여러 가지 다양한 원인들이 기술되어 왔지만 아직 뚜렷한 병인이 밝혀지지 않은 상태로 기질적 원인에 대한 다각적인 연구가 진행중이다. 이에 저자들은 1986년 7월부터 1987년 2월까지 연세대학교 의과대학 이비인후과학 교실을 방문한 85명의 globus 증후 환자를 대상으로 전향적 연구를 시행 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1) 주증상은 무언가 걸린듯한 느낌이 가장 많았고(40.8%), 기타 점액객출 및 종양감각이 있었으며, 증상부위는 하인두부(26.8%) 및 윤상연골부(28.0%)가 많았고. 증상 유발인자로는 피로 및 신경과민증이 동반된 기질적 병변으로는 비후성 설편도염 및 인두염이 가장 많았다. 2) 비데오-식도조영술 검사상 27명(31.8%)에서 윤상인두근 이상수축이 있었으며 기타 식도복(3명), 식도점막이상(1명)등이 있었고 윤상인두근 이상수축이 있었던 환자군과 없었던 환자군 사이에 주증상, 증상부위, 동반증상, 기질적 병변 및 치료경과에는 차이가 없었으며 50% 이상의 수축을 보인 3명의 환자에서 내시경 검사상 이상소견은 관찰되지 않았다. 3) 치료는 특별한 기질적 병변이 없는 한 자세한 설명을 통한 치유의 확신감을 주고 필요에 따라 진정제, 제산제 및 cimetidine을 투여한 결과 65.3%에서 증상의 완전소실 및 현저한 호전이 있었고, 24.5%에서는 어느 전도의 호전이 있었으며, 10.2%에서는 증상의 호전이 없었다.

An Experimental Study on the Convective Boiling in Inclined Tubes (경사진 원형관내에서의 강제대류비등 열전달에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • An experiment is conducted to investigate the effect of the inclination angle on convective boiling heat transfer of a uniformly heated tube. The test section used is a stainless steel tube with10.7mm in inner diameter. The hating length is 3m and is heated directly by an AC current. The test fluid is R-113. Experiment are carried out with mass flow rates of 300, 500 and $700\;kg/m^{2}s$, and heat fluxes varying from 5 to 65 kW/$m^2$. The inclination angles of the tube are $0^{\circ},\;5^{\circ},\;11^{\circ}\;and\;25^{\circ}$. the circumferential temperature variation at low quality region and the location of dryout at high quality region are mainly observed. Circumferential anisothermality occurring at low mass flow rate and low quality conditions is gradually reduced with the increase in the inclination angle and finally disappears at the inclination angle of $25^{\circ}$. Critical quality where dryout is initiated is seriously influenced by the inclination angle. Wall temperature after critical quality is also affected by the inclination angle.

Metal Deposit Distribution in Barrel Plating of Partially Conductive Load

  • The metal deposition behavior in the barrel tin plating has been studied for the electronic DIP products, and tried to find out some modified factors in order to explain partial ,current flow behavior of this load. The deposition distribution characteristics for DTP products should be classified with the normal barrel plating as partially conductive load. Deposit distribution curves obtained from one-dimensional model have shown strong dependence n the applied current density, rotating speed of barrel and metal ion concentration of the solution. Theoretical formula J=$\delta$'/${\beta}$-{-c$^3$/${\gamma}$-exp-(1-${\alpha}$)n${\Phi}$} derived from one-dimensional porous model has been proposed for the barrel plating behavior where higher overpotential and concentration changes take place during barrel plating.

  • A Ni-W thin-film was synthesized by electrodeposition, and its corrosion resistance and electrical surface conductivity were investigated. Amount of tungsten in the Ni-W thin-film increased linearly with current density during the electrodeposition, and crack-free and low-crystalline Ni-21 at.%W coating layer was obtained. Corrosion resistances of the Ni-W thin-films were examined with an anodic polarization method and a storage test in a strong sulfuric acid solution. As a result, the Ni-21 at.%W thin-film exhibited the greatest corrosion resistance, and maintained the electrical surface conductivity even after the severe corrosion test, which could be applicable as a surface treatment for advanced metallic bipolar plates in fuel cell or redox flow battery systems.
