Analysis of the Burning Rate of Solid Propellant Accounting for the Evaporation on the Surface (표면 증발을 고려한 고체추진제의 연소율 해석)

  • The burning rate of solid propellant is one of the key parameter associated with the dynamic characteristics of combustion and the combustion performances. In the AP propellants, the evaporation on the reacting surface as well as the decomposition of the propellant is of great importance in determining the overall burning rate. In this study, a theoretical analysis was conducted to obtain the expression for burning rate in the steady state combustion with the energy and species equations in the condensed phase when the radiative heat flux partially contributes to the total heat transfer to the propellant surface.

Thermal Transfer Properties of Composting Heat for Underground Heating in the Plastic Greenhouse (플라스틱 온실에서 지중가온을 위한 퇴비화 발효율의 열전달 특성)

  • 온실에서 퇴비화 발효율을 이용하기 위하여 발효율이 토양을 직접 가온하면서 퇴비화하는 퇴비화 하우스를 제작하였다. 퇴비화가 진행되는 동안 각 단계별 열의 발생량과 발생열량이 토양에 전달되는 특성을 분석하였다. 우분과 왕겨를 혼합하여 퇴비화 처리하였다. 퇴비화 과정의 총 70일 동안 391MJ/㎥의 열량이 발생하였으며, 이중 22일의 주발효기간 동안에 약 82%의 열량이 발생하였다. 또한 총 열량중 토양의 지표면의 지표면을 통하여 방출되는 열량을 제외한 260M/㎥의 열량이 지중가온에 이용된 것으로 나타났다. 콤포스트의 열 전도계수는 1.7~0.3W/m$^{\circ}$K이었다. 퇴비화 시스템을 구비한 온실의 주 발효기간의 지중 평균온도는 27.9$^{\circ}C$인 반면, 퇴비화 시스템이 없는 온실의 경우 13.9$^{\circ}C$로 나타나 퇴비화 시스템이 지중 온도증가에 큰 효과를 나타내고 있었다.

A Reliable Data Transfer Mechanism Using Directed Diffusion in Wireless Sensor Networks (무선 센서 네트워크에서 Directed Diffusion을 이용한 신뢰성 있는 데이터 전달 기법)

  • In this paper, we have pesented a reliable data transfer mechanism using Directed Diffusion in WSNs (fireless Sensor Networks). This mechanism involves selecting a route with higher reachability and transferring data along the route chosen, which is based on the end-to-end reliability calculated by the dissemination procedure of Interest packets, while each node of a sensor network maintains the only information on its neighborhood. We performed various experiments changing the link error rates and the number of nodes and discovered that this proposed mechanism improves event-to-sink data transfer reliability in WSNs. We also found that this mechanism spreads traffic load over and reduces energy consumption, which in turn prolongs network lifetime.

  • The amphiphilic copolymer by the conjugation of biocompatible chitosan and antioxidant lipoic acid was studied as a drug delivery carrier. The amphiphilic copolymer was self-assembled to form nanoparticles in the aqueous solution. 5-Fluorouracil widely used as an anticancer drug was encapsulated inside the nanoparticles by a solid dispersion method. The degree of branching of lipoic acid on chitosan was controlled to obtain the optimal condition for the drug delivery carrier. The sizes of nanoparticles were about 250 nm by the dynamic light scattering. The encapsulation efficiency of nanoparticles were about 10%. The copolymer with 42% degree of branching showed the best performance as a drug delivery carrier.

  • Current IEEE 802.11p which is suggested for vehicle to vehicle communication supports one hop communication. Thus, it has a limitation to carry out efficient data dissemination. In this thesis, we suggest LTE-D2D based vehicle network to provide efficient data dissemination in the vehicle environment. In this network architecture, we use name based message with IP packet options and we put the intermediate vehicle node called 'super vehicle node' and each normal vehicle node in the cell requests data to the super vehicle node. The super vehicle node responses data to the normal vehicle node. Performance analysis is based mathematical modeling. We compare LTE cellular network to LTE-D2D based vehicle network about throughput according to packet delivery time.

  • In this study, numerical analysis of curved channel steam-methanol reformer was conducted using the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) commercial code STAR-CCM. A pre-numerical analysis of reference model with a cylindrical channel reactor was performed to validate the combustion model of the CFD commercial code. The result of advance validation was in agreement with reference model over 95%. After completing the validation, a curved channel reactor was designed to determine the effects of shape and length of flow path on methanol conversion efficiency and generation of hydrogen. Numerical analysis of the curved-channel reformer was conducted under various flow rate ($10/15/20{\mu}l/min$). As a result, the characteristics of flow and mass transfer were confirmed in the cylindrical channel and curved channel reactor, and useful information about methanol conversion efficiency and hydrogen generation was obtained for various flow rate.

  • This study was performed to estimate bubble dissolution rate by change of hydraulic pressure according to increase of water depth. Experimental results showed that airflow rate was decreased by increase of hydraulic pressure. Because the force which acts on outlet of nozzle was increased by increase of hydraulic pressure. Mass-transfer coefficient decreased with decreasing airflow rate and increasing effective volume due to increase of hydraulic pressure as water depth increased. On the contrary, as the water depth increased, the bubble dissolution rate was increased because longer residence time of microbubble which was generated by ejector type microbubble generator. However it was thought that if water depth for capacity of ejector type microbubble generator is excessively increasing, bubble dissolution rate would be reduced due to low airflow rate and mass-transfer coefficient. Therefore, it is importance to consider the water depth when operating ejector type microbubble generator.

Performance Prediction of Interleave-Division Multiple Access Scheme based on Log-likelihood Ratio (LLR) for An Efficient 4G Mobile Radio System (효율적4세대 이동무선시스템을 위한 대수가능성비 기반의 인터리버 분할 다중접속기술의 성능 예측)

  • This paper presents a prediction mechanism of performance for an efficient interleave-division multiple access (IDMA) scheme that is being considered as 4th generation mobile radio system. The scheme is based upon log-likelihood ratio (LLR) to predict the performance of the IDMA. The conventional IDMA system simply passes the LLR values to a coarse estimation process in the receiver over a pre-defined number of iterations for an acceptable performance. The proposed IDMA system uses the LLRs to predict its BER performance and thus the iterative operation at the receiver can significantly be reduced when the performance attains an acceptable level. Performance evaluation shows that the proposed scheme of the IDMA with the LLRs used for the prediction provides a comparable BER performance. The use of the LLRs can facilitate an efficient design of the IDMA system that is a strong candidate system for 4G mobile radio systems.

  • Heat transfer coefficients on a single spiral coil tube in the furan foundry sand fluidized bed have been investigated. Heat transfer coefficients(ho) to an immersed single spiral coil tube were measured in the bed. The bed diameter was 0.21 m. The following quantities were varied: (l)bed temperature, (2)mean particle diameter, (3) fluidization rate, (4)the ratio of heated coil tube pitch to diameter(p/Do), and (5)the ratio of heated coil tube pitch to mean particle diameter(p/dp). In addition, the experimental values of maximum Nusselts number were compared with the values of maximum Nusselts number predicted by the existing correlations. The values of heat transfer coefficient increase with the increase in bed temperature and fluidization rate, but decrease with increase in particle diameter. An empirical formulus of maximum Nusselts number which is applicable in the furan foundry sand fluidization bed is as follows: $$Nu_{max}=1.01\;Re^{0.48}Prg^{0.4}(p/dp)^{0.28}(p/Do)^{0.05}$$.

Polymerization of HEMA by Electron beam Irradiation and Fabrication of Soft contact lens (전자빔조사에 의한 HEMA의 중합과 소프트콘택트렌즈 제조)

  • Purpose: Polymerization of HEMA(2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate) which can be used in the soft contact lens has been performed by using electron beam(EB) irradiation, and examined the best condition for the polymerization. Comparing the physical properties of the contact lenses to the one fabricated by thermal polymerization method, we check the use possibility of the EB irradiation to the fabrication of the soft contact lens. Methods: We investigated the degree of polymerization of the HEMA according to the composition of the monomer, the additive ratio and the dose of electron beam (0~120 kGy). The degree of polymerization was measured depending on the EB dose to research the best synthetic condition under the EB irradiation. The physical properties of the contact lens such as water content(%), oxygen transmissibility(Dk/t) and optical transmittance were analysed by using the FT-IR results with comparing the two different polymerization method (thermal and electron beam polymerization) with same additive ratio. Results: When the dose of electron beam was above 100 kGy, the degree of polymerization of HEMA was above 99% with regardless using cross-linker and initiator. The water content of the lens fabricated by EB method showed 10% higher than the one by the thermal method which was 40%. The lens fabricated by EB method also showed higher oxygen transmissibility(Dk/t) as same with the water content, and showed twice higher value in the lens fabricated by pure HEMA. According to the FT-IR results, hydrophilic property of the lens fabricated by EB method was increased due to increasing the intermolecular hydrogen bonding. It showed above 90% optical transmittance in the visible range of wavelength on the contact lenses fabricated by the both of two different polymerization method. Conclusions: The polymerization of HEMA without cross-linker and initiator was successful above 100 kGy of EB irradiation. Moreover the lens fabricated from the polymer synthesized by pure HEMA with 100 kGy of EB showed the highest water content and oxygen transmissibility. Therefore EB irradiation is another possible method to synthesize the polymer which can be used for the soft contact lens.
