A Study on the Forming Conditions of a Forging Piston by using the Finite Element Simulation and the Taguchi Method (유한요소해석과 다구찌방법을 이용한 단조피스톤의 성형조건 연구)

  • This paper presents design methodology to determine the design parameters that affect the manufacture of aluminum forging piston using the FE simulation and the Taguchi method. Maximum forging load is used as the objective function, and preform, material temperature and draft angle are selected as the design parameters. Their combinations are implemented by orthogonal array, and forging load is evaluated through the simulation. From the analytic results of design parameters to minimize the load using signal to noise ratio, their optimal combinations are proposed. The proposed design methodology will be able to help in selecting proper preform among preforms and to be used in determining the optimal combination of the parameters in metal forming process.

Physical and Optical Properties of PMMA/PVDF Blends (PMMA/PVDF 화합물의 물성 및 광학적 성질)

  • Blends of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) with polyvinylidenefluoride (PVDF) were prepared by melt mixing and investigated for optical waveguide devices by using hot embossing process. The glass transition temperatures ($T_g$) of the blends were decreased with increasing PVDF contents. However, the crystalline of PMMA/PVDF blends was not appeared by DSC and XRD due to miscibility between PMMA and PVDF. Shear viscosities and refractive indices of the blends were decreased with increasing PVDF contents. Optical transmittances and absorption losses of the blends were improved with increasing PVDF contents. This is due to a decreasing of polarizability of molecules by fluorine molecule in the PVDF.

전기폭발법에 의해 제조되는 금속나노분말의 크기분포 실시간 측정

  • 금속 와이어를 전기폭발법에 의해 증기 상태로 만든 후 응축시킬 때 제조되는 금속나노분말의 크기특성을 파악하기 위하여 제조장치에 샘플링 포트를 삽입하여 실시간 입자 측정기(Scanning Mobility Particle Sizer; SMPS) 로 14~615 nm 범위의 크기분포를 측정하였다. SMPS는 입자의 크기에 따라 전기적 이동도가 달라지는 원리를 이용하여 공기 중에 부유된 나노입자의 크기분포를 수 분내에 측정하는 실시간 입자 측정기이다. 금속나노분말 제조장치 내부는 약 0.5 bar 수준으로 불활성가스로 채워져 있어서 대기압보다 높은 고압조건이므로 SMPS 전단에 작은 노즐이 삽입된 pressure reducer를 부착하여 적정한 압력 수준으로 낮춘 후 SMPS로 나노분말의 크기분포를 실시간으로 측정하였다. 제조공정이 진행되면서 전기폭발이 주기적으로 발생하는 동안에 SMPS로 측정한 14~615 nm 범위 입자의 총 수농도는 약 $10^7$ 개/$cm^3$ 수준으로 매우 높았고, 약 100 nm와 200 nm에서 고농도 피크를 나타내는 bimodal 분포를 나타냈다. 반면 전기폭발이 잠시 중단되는 경우 입자의 총 수 농도는 약 $10^4$ 개/$cm^3$ 수준으로 낮아지고, 약 20 nm 이하의 입자가 대부분을 차지하면서 입자의 크기가 커질수록 농도가 낮아지는 형태의 크기분포로 바뀌었다. 본 연구를 통해 얻어진 제조장치 내부의 나노분말 크기분포 자료는 고품질 제품을 생산하기 위해 나노분말의 크기분포를 제어하는 분급장치 개발에 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

A Study of Mixing Characteristics for Cosmetic Pine Powder (화장품용 미분체 혼합공정에서의 분산특성 연구)

  • The cosmetic fine powders were mixed with variation of mixing time(5) in the mixers (ribbon mixer, powder mixer, micropulverizer and fine impact mill). The powders were nixed with small amount of ferric oxide. as tracer. The mixed powders ere measured the particle size distribution, specific surface area and surface color with mixing time (s). The color variation, particle size distribution and specific surface area of the mixed powder exist a relationship with mining time(s) that can be expressed as mathematical equations to show the degree of the mixing of the powder mixture. The linear velocity of the impellar tip is the main factor contributing to he mixing efficiency of the mixers un this study. According to the linear velocity, he mixers used are devieded as convection mixing (ribbon mixer), sclera mixing powder mixer) and diffusion mixing (micropulverizer/fine impact mill).

  • There is always die roll in fine blanking parts which is able to have 100% clean shear surface. In this paper the change of die roll size was studied by fine blanking tryout in order to minimize die roll size. Various die inserts with different die chamfer were machined, fine blanking die was manufactured and tested. The die roll sizes of fine blanking samples were measured and the tendency of thickness directional die roll size was comprehended. This result will be used on the design of die chamfer in order to minimize thickness directional die roll size of fine blanking parts

  • It is now possible for the general public to publish their own publications without difficulties because of versatile Internet environments and cost-effective printing machines. However, special software design tools are still required in order to design name cards, leaflets, yellow books and free newspaper. In this paper, we present a computerized typesetting model which automates all procedures of generating business cards the most representative commercial design example. All processes in our model are performed over the Internet from application to generation. Based on our model, we also introduce a web-based computerized typesetting system which collaborates with the Adobe InDesign CS2 and generates image files in real time for user requests. Such a system is linked with an automatic payment system so that a PDF file, a target output, is generated after a user confirms his/her order.

  • An upper bound solution is obtained to perform the process analysis of hot strip rolling process. The material flows within the roll bite at various geometries and frictional conditions are obtained from finite element analysis and the typical flow pattern which is necessary to determine the kinematically admissible velocity field is assumed. From the kinematically admissible velocity field, the upper bound energy is calculated and the rolling load, angle of neutral point and forward slip ratio at various operational conditions are obtained from upper bound energy. The process analysis of above mentioned parameters at various operational conditions have provided valuable information which is hard to obtain during rolling operation and the predicted ranges of quantitive values from these analyses lie whthin the bound of actual operational data.

  • 통신기기에서 중요한 기술 중 하나인 PLL(Phase Locked Loop) 회로는 주기적인 신호를 원하는 대로, 정확한 고정점으로 잡아주는데 그 목적을 둔다. 일반적인 구조로 위상주파수검출기(Phase Frequency detector), 루프필터(Loop filter), 전압제어발진기(Voltage Controlled Oscillator), 디바이더(Divider)로 구성되어진다. 그러나 일반적인 PLL 구조로는 지터(jitter)가 증가하고 트랙(tracking) 속도가 느리다는 단점이 있다. 이를 보완하기 위해 루프필터 전단에 차지펌프(Charge pump) 회로를 추가하여 사용하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 CMOS를 이용한 PLL용 차지펌프를 설계하였다. 설계된 회로는 $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS 공정 기술을 사용하여 CADENCE사의 Specter로 시뮬레이션 하였으며, Virtuso2로 레이아웃 하였다.

A Study on the Bonding Process of Carbon Fiber-Thermoplastic Composite Using Induction Heating Technology (유도가열 기술을 이용한 탄소섬유-열가소성 복합재의 접합 공정에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, thermoplastic composites were manufactured using a thermoplastic resin (PEEK) with the same melting temperature and a highly heat-resistant carbon UD tapes with different carbon fibers (Type A, Type B). And the bonding characteristics and mechanical characteristics of each of the two produced thermoplastic composites by induction heating welding were examined. The bonding characteristics and mechanical characteristics of the thermoplastic composites were performed using C-Scan and B-Scan, which is a non-destructive inspection, and the single lap shear test, respectively. The temperature of the carbon composites surface was monitored using a thermal image camera.

Analysis of the effect of punch wear on shear surfaces in the piercing process (피어싱 공정에서의 펀치 마모가 전단면에 미치는 영향 분석)

  • The recent increasing application rate of advanced high-strength steel(AHSS) for automotive parts makes it difficult to ensure the durability of forming tools. Significant load and friction generated during the piercing process of AHSS increase the wear rate and the damage degree to dies. These harsh process conditions also yield product failures, such as dimensional inconsistency of pierced holes and insufficient quality of hole's sheared edge. This study analyzed the effect of punch wear on the sheared surface of pierced parts and the forming load during the piercing process. Wear-shaped punches showed approximately 20% higher piercing load than normal-shaped punches, and the rollover ratio of the sheared surface also increased. It is considered that the dull edge of wear-shaped punches does not penetrate directly into the material but shears after tensioning it in a piercing direction. In addition, wear-shaped punches experienced compressive load even after completing the piercing process during the down-stroke and tensile load during the up-stroke. This load variation is related to the smaller diameter piercing holes produced by wear-shaped punches compared to normal-shaped punches. Thus, we demonstrated the predictability of the wear level of dies through a comparative analysis of the piercing load pattern.
