Interleukin-1β 유전자 내 -511C/T 단일염기다형성과 유방암 관련 우울증 (Interleukin-1β -511C/T Gene Polymorphism and Depression Related to Breast Cancer)

  • Objectives : Pro-inflammatory cytokines are related to the pathophysiology of both cancer and depression, and their secretion is controlled by the transcriptional activity of particular gene polymorphisms. This study aimed to investigate whether interleukin (IL)-1β -511C/T gene polymorphism is associated with depression following mastectomy for breast cancer. Methods : A total of 309 patients with breast cancer were evaluated one week after mastectomy, and 244 (79%) were followed one year later. Depression (major+minor depressive disorders) was diagnosed according to DSM-IV criteria using the Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview, and classified into prevalent, persistent, and incident depression. Associations of IL-1β -511C/T polymorphism with the three depressive status were estimated using logistic regression models. Results : At baseline, 74 (24%) patients were classified with prevalent depression ; and at follow up, 19 (8%) and 25 (10%) patients were classified with persistent and incident depression, respectively. The IL-1β -511T/T genotype was independently associated with prevalent and persistent depression, but not with incident depression. Conclusion : IL-1β -511T/T genotype may involve in the etiology of depression occurring in women with breast cancer who receive a mastectomy.

Synthesis and Electrochemical Studies of Cu(II) and Ni(II) Complexes with Tetradentate Schiff Base Ligands

  • A series of tetradentate Schiff-base ligands; 1,3-bis(salicylideneimino) propane, 1,4-bis(salicylideneimino)butane, and 1,5-bis(salicylideneimino)pentane, and their Cu(Ⅱ) and Ni(Ⅱ) complexes have been synthesized. The properties of ligands and complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR, NMR, UV-Vis spectra, molar conductance, and thermogravimetric anaylsis. The mole ratio of Schiff base to metal at complexes was found to be 1 : 1. All complexes were four-coordinated configuration and non-ionic compound. The electrochemical redox processes of the ligands and their complexes in DMF solution containing 0.1 M TEAP as supporting electrolyte have been investigated by cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperometry, differential pulse voltammetry at glassy carbon electrode, and by controlled potential coulometry at platinum gauze electrode. The redox process of the ligands was highly irreversible, whereas redox process of Cu(Ⅱ) and Ni(Ⅱ) complexes was observed as one electron transfer process of quasi-reversible and diffusion-controlled reaction. Also the electrochemical redox potentials of complexes were affected by chelate ring size of ligands. The diffusion coefficients of Cu(Ⅱ) and Ni(Ⅱ) complexes in DMF solution were determined to be 4.2-6.6×10-6 cm2/sec. Also the exchange rate constants were determined to be 3.6-9.7×10-2 cm/sec.

  • 순차 패턴 탐사 기법은 순서를 갖는 패턴들의 집합 중에 빈발하게 발생하는 패턴을 찾아내는 기법이다. USN 환경에서 발생하는 스트림 데이터는 시간 속성을 갖는 이벤트들의 집합으로 표현할 수 있으며 순차 패턴 탐사 기법을 이용하여 유용한 정보를 탐사할 수 있다. 그러나 스트림 데이터 환경에서는 데이터가 무한하고 연속적으로 발생하기 때문에 모든 데이터를 저장하여 패턴을 탐사하는 기법을 적용하는 데는 문제가 있다. 이 논문에서는 향상된 데이터 처리방식을 사용하여 순차패턴을 탐사하는 스트림 데이터 마이닝 기법에 대하여 제안한다. 제안하는 기법은 의미 단위의 가변적 윈도우를 사용하여 스트림 데이터로부터 트랜잭션을 생성하고 이 트랜잭션들의 집합을 해시와 슬라이딩 윈도우를 사용하여 스트림 데이터의 순차 패턴을 탐사한다. 이를 이용한 제안 기법은 실시간 시스템에 적합하게 데이터 저장 공간 사용의 효율성을 높이고 신속하게 유용한 패턴을 탐사할 수 있다.

봄-여름 고창 연안에서 주목망에 어획된 어류의 출현양상 (Appearance Patterns of fish collected by stow net in coastal waters off Gochang from Spring and Summer)

  • In 2014, fishes caught using stow nets in coastal waters off Gochang from May to October were assessed for appearance patterns. The fishes were caught at four research stations (St.) and were found to comprise 37 species, 18 families, and 7 orders. The dominant species were Thryssa kammalensis, Setipinna tenuifilis, and Sardinella zunasi. To gain a measure of their biodiversity, all species were assessed for their number, richness, diversity, evenness, and dominance. The highest and lowest numbers of total fishes caught were recorded in September (4,819 individuals) and October (828 individuals), respectively. The diversity was the highest in October (H' = 2.478) and lowest in June (H' = 0.880). The evenness index was the highest in October (E = 0.780) and lowest in June (E = 0.343). The richness index was the highest in October (R = 3.424) and lowest in May (R = 1.552). Finally, the dominance index was the highest in June (D = 86.2%) and lowest in October (D = 40.3%).

하계 광양만 주변 해역의 새우조망 어획조사 및 수산자원 음향조사 (Biomass Estimation with a Hydroacoustic Survey and the Shrimp Beam Trawl Fishery in Gwangyanh Bay in Summer)

  • This study conducted a survey using a sampling inspection method and acoustic technique for continuous monitoring of useful organisms and non-commercial fish species distributed in the water of Gwangyang Bay, and evaluated the marine resources. In June, 2018, 38 species were caught in the shrimp beam trawl, comprising 3,594 marine organisms with a total weight was 65,415.3g. The acoustic survey showed that the nautical area scattering coefficient (NASC; $m^2/n.mile^2$) for the waters of Gwangyang Bay was highest in Transect 15 ($1,655.5m^2/n.mile^2$) and lowest in Transect 1 ($1.3m^2/n.mile^2$). The biomass was estimated to be 2,634.9 tons in the acoustic survey. This indicates that the acoustic survey method detected more fish shoals than the sampling inspection method.

  • IgG4-related chronic sclerosing sialadenitis commonly occurs in the submandibular glands. The gold standard for diagnosis of IgG4-related chronic sclerosing sialadenitis is a tissue biopsy from the affected organ. Herein, we report the probability of occurrence of IgG4-related chronic sclerosing sialadenitis in both submandibular glands that developed at intervals of months. Therefore, long-term follow-up and whole-body evaluation are essential.

  • Recently, an advanced workflow has been introduced to finish implant surgery and prosthetic treatment in one-day. However, Because of 1. Patient's physical condition, 2. Surgical technique, 3. Digital technical limitations, the complete completion of one-day implant treatment is practically difficult. Therefore, this paper proposes a "two-days implant digital workflow" that short-time implant surgery and restores prosthetics the next day. Even though it takes more than one day, this workflow is a realistic implant treatment protocol that can reduce the chair time in the clinic.

천연 대나무로부터 합성된 활성 탄소의 미세구조 및 전기화학적 특성 (Micro-Structural and Electrochemical Properties of Activated Carbon Synthesized from Natural Bamboo)

  • Activated carbon was synthesized from bamboo charcoal by KOH activation at various temperatures for electrochemical double layer capacitor applications. The micro-structural and surface properties of all the samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and N2 adsorption/desorption isotherm method. The electrochemical properties of the activated bamboo charcoal were examined by cyclic voltammetry in the potential window of -1.0 to 0.2 V in 6 M KOH electrolyte at different scan rates. An electrode made from the sample activated with 7.5 M KOH and heat treated at $750^{\circ}C$ for 3 h gave a maximum capacitance of 553 F/g at 1 mV/s and 450 F/g at 10mV/s.

  • In 2012, fishes caught by three-side fyke net in the coastal waters of Jedo were assessed for species composition and seasonal fluctuation in their abundance. The fish were caught at two research stations (St.) and were found to comprise 53 species, 39 families, and 9 orders. The dominant species were Takifugu niphobles, Lateolabrax maculatus, and Acanthopagrus schlegelii. To gain a measure of their biodiversity, all the species were assessed for their number, richness, diversity, evenness, and dominance. The highest and lowest number of total caught fish individuals was recorded in summer and winter, respectively. The diversity index was the highest in summer and lowest in winter. The evenness index was the highest in summer and lowest in spring. The richness index was highest in summer and lowest in winter. Furthermore, the dominance index was highest in spring and lowest in autumn.

  • A series of tetradentate Schiff base ligands; [1,2-bis(naphthylideneimino)ethane, 1,3-bis(naphthylideneimino)propane, 1,4-bis(naphthylideneimino)butane, and 1,5-bis(naphthylideneimino)pentane] and their Ni(Ⅱ) complexes have been synthesized. The redox process of the ligands was highly irreversible, whereas redox process of Ni(Ⅱ) complexes were observed as one electron transfer process in quasi-reversible and diffusion-controlled reaction. The electrochemical redox potentials of the Ni(Ⅱ) complexes were affected by the chelate ring size of ligands. The diffusion coefficients of Ni(Ⅱ) complexes containing 0.1 M TEAP in DMSO solution were determined to be 5.7-6.9 × 10-6 cm2/sec. Also the exchange rate constants were determined to be 1.8-9.5 × 10-2 cm2/sec. These values were affected by the chelate ring size of ligands.
