An Optimization of the Distributed Generator Combination for Microgrid using Linear Programming (선형계획법을 이용한 마이크로그리드의 분산전원 조합 최적화)

  • MG(Microgrid) is a small power supply system located on-site that can supply both the electricity and the hot-water simultaneously. Engineering S/W is requested to construct Microgrids economically. We developed Engineering S/W that can combine DERs (Distributed Energy Resources) most economically using the linear programming and estimate of the economic. Developed S/W was programed using GAMS(General Algebraic Modeling System) and it is composed of the optimal DER combination module and forecasting module of renewable energy's output. We embody it based on MS Excel considering the user's convenience and we show its validity through a case study. We think that developed S/W will be very useful for planning MGs and energy supply.

Ownership Structure and Performances: An Analysis of Cooperatives and Investor-Owned Utilities in the U.S. Electric Power Industry (미국 전력산업에서 기업의 소유권 형태에 따른 운영성과의 차이 분석)

  • This study examines performances of cooperatives relative to investor-owned firms in the US electric power industry. Using a panel data of firms from 2001 to 2014, the results show that cooperatives operate under conditions of more difficult capital constraints associated with the higher cost of debt and limited access to external equity capital. While investor-owned utilities, especially the large utilities that are less capital constrained, take benefits from substantial scale economies existing in the industry, the marginal cost of operation substantially increases with output for cooperatives. I do not find differences in profitability between the two ownership structures, measured by return on assets and return on equity. Plant capacity utilization, which is a measure of plant efficiency conditional on the operation, is also not statistically different between the two groups.

  • This paper presents a new register transfer level synthesis method to overcome the disadvantages of the previous register transfer level synthesis systems. The previous register transfer level synthesis systems first translate from a hardware description language to sequential circuits inadequately. Secondly, the systems separate registers and combinational circuits and then optimize only combinational circuits. This paper describes their disadvantages and then proposes a new method to overcome their shortcomings. This paper also shows the effectiveness of the proposed method by using the proposed method at designing the controller of a surveillance system and the 8-bit signed multiplier.

  • NOx Smoke and other exhausted components already became a dangerous state as principal materials of the air pollution. Therefore, the exhausted regulations are getting strict in the many countries. In this paper, reduction characteristic of NOx Smoke and CO from diesel engine are investigated, when MF plasma-EGR hybride system is put to the diesel engine NOx is decreased in all measured load and applied voltage to plasma reactor. However Smoke is increased as increasing EGR rate and it is decreased as increasing applied voltage.

  • 본 고에서는 체내 심실신호를 농하여 신경학적 분석 및 다형성의 측면에서 심실세동이 일어나는 것을 예측하는 분석 알고리즘을 설계하였다. 신경학적 측면에서는 시계열 신호의 Peak to Peak Interval을 예측법과 0.15Hz를 기준으로 HRV 신호의 AR Burg 모델링을 통하여 고주파성과 저주파성을 나누어 교감신경과 부교감신경의 활동성 통한 신경학적 예측법을 제시하였으며 또한 체내 심실신호의 비선형적 특성을 고려한 Fractal Dimension을 생성시킴으로서 주기성의 특성과 다형성 통한 예측법을 제시하였다. 체내 심전도를 기반으로 Simulation 하였으며 각 분석별 조합을 통하여 최적의 예측 구조를 찾고자 하였다. 의학적 의미가 있는 민감도와 특이도를 판별하였으며 예측을 위한 수행시간을 실험하였다. 이를 통하여 자율신경 활성도와 다형성 판별을 조합한 방법이 심실세동 예측을 위한 민감도의 측면에서 가장 우수함을 나타내었고 시뮬레이션을 위만 시뮬레이터(Simulator) UI(User Interface)를 제시하였다.

  • This paper presents a novel hybrid multilevel inverter using DC-Link voltage combination in order to improve the waveshape of output voltage and reduce harmonics. The proposed multilevel inverter can generate an 11-level output voltage. It employs three H-bridge cell, which consists of single phase full-bridge inverter module. Among them, two modules are used for level generation, and one module performs PWM switching. Nine levels are synthesised by the level inverter, and two levels are added to output by the PWM inverter. As a result, it generates an 11-level. The operational principles are explained in depth, and the validity of the proposed system is verified through the PSpice simulation and experimental results based on a prototype.

  • This paper describes a combination surge generator for carrying out performance tests on the surge protection circuits of shipboard electrical systems. Pspice simulations were performed to decide the values of the parts required and to analyze the characteristics of the generator circuitry. The surge generator fabricated can produce four of the most common surge test waveforms : the O.5i/S/100kHz Ringwave, the 1.2/50$\mu$S voltage, the 8/20$\mu$S current, and the lO/lOOOi/S voltage wave¬forms specified in ANSI Std. C62. Source impedances of the surge generator are 12$\Omega$ in the O.5$\mu$S/100kHz mode, O.5$\Omega$ in the 1.2/50$\mu$S and 8/20$\mu$S mode, and 40$\Omega$in the l0/1000$\mu$S mode, and are determined by the ratio of the maxi¬mum open - circuit voltage to the maximum short - circuit current. Experimental results show that the surge generator provides most of the outputs required for the testing of the surge protection circuits on shipboard electrical systems.

  • As Multimedia industry has evolved, it has become possible to display resolutions in various formats. Therefore, the performance of a scaler algorithm that converts resolutions while maintaining high quality and its hardware implementation are important. Considering the hardware design of an image up/down scaler, this paper proposes a combinatorial scaler algorithm that uses modified bilinear interpolation in the vertical direction and bicubic interpolation in the horizontal direction to reduce the line memory burden. Through quantitative and qualitative evaluations, this paper compared the performance of the proposed algorithm with three other well-known algorithms, and also compared the hardware burden of its hardware implementation. This paper used a sinusoidal signal and eight typical images for performance evaluation.

  • Recently, various video resolution formats have emerged, and digital devices have built in dedicated scaler chips to support them by enlarging or reducing the resolution of input videos. Therefore, the performance and hardware size of scaler chips are important. In this paper, the combinatorial interpolation scaler algorithm proposed by Han is used to design the hardware using the line memory structure with dual-clock proposed by Han and Jung. The proposed hardware is capable of real-time processing in QHD environments, designed using Verilog, and validated using Xilinx's Vivado 2023.1. We also verify the performance of Han's proposed algorithm with a quantitative numerical evaluation of the proposed hardware.

  • The non-intrusive load monitoring(NILM) algorithm can infer the power usage of the individual electric devices by the total electric power consumption of the main line. To develop such an algorithm, power usage pattern data of individual devices as well as those of various combinations of these devices are required. In this paper, we propose a method to develop a power usage pattern data acquisition system for developing a NILM algorithm for a smart farm. The data acquisition system is capable of simultaneously measuring the power usage of individual electrical devices and the power usage according to various combinations of scenarios every second. The measured data can be remotely monitored from the outside of the smart farm through the LTE network, and the measured data is stored in an external server.
