Convergence of Fluid Dynamics and Computer Simulation for the Internal Investigation of Fuel Cell (유체역학과 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션의 융합을 통한 연료전지의 분석)

  • A numerical model is developed to predict distributions of current density and temperature. Also the complete fuel cell performances were compared. In this study the effect of flow field design and flow direction on current density and temperature distribution as well as full cell performance. The complete three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations were solved with convergence of electro-chemical reactions terms. In this paper, the two different flow field design were simulated, straight channel and rectangular serpentine flow channel, which is commonly used. The effect of flow direction, co-flow and counter-flow, was also analyzed. The current density and temperature is higher with abundant oxygen not fuel. Also, temperature distribution was able to be drawn by using computer simulation. In this paper, the relationship among flow pattern, flow field design and current denstity distribution.

  • 본 논문에서는 스마트재료 및 구조물(smart materials and structures : SMS)들 중 잠재적 응용가치가 가장 큰 것으로 인식되는 전기유동유체(electro-rhelogical fluid 이하 ER유체)의 이론적 근거 및 역학적 거동과 잠재적 응용성에 관한 연구이다. 이를 적용하기 위하여 공작기계의 브레이크에 적용하여 모델링 및 해석, 제어알고리즘 설계하여 정밀도에 양호한 결과를 얻었다.

Analysis of Preconcentration Dynamics inside Dead-end Microchannel (막다른 미세유로 내부의 농축 동역학 분석)

  • Ion concentration polarization (ICP) is one of the essential important mechanisms for biomolecule preconcentration devices as well as a fundamental transport phenomenon found in electrodialysis, electrochemical cell, etc. The ICP triggered by externally applied voltage enables the biomolecular analyte to be preconcentrated at an arbitrary position by a locally amplified electric field inside the microchannel. Conventional preconcentration methodologies using the ICP have two limitations: uncertain equilibrium position and hydrodynamic instability of preconcentration plug. In this work, a new preconcentration method in the dead-end microchannel around cation exchange membrane was numerically studied to resolve the limitations. As a result, the numerical model showed that the analyte was concentrated at a shock front developed in a geometrically confined dead-end channel. Furthermore, the electrokinetic behaviors for preconcentration dynamics were analyzed by changing microchannel's applied voltage and volumetric charge concentration of microchannel as key parameters to describe the dynamics. This work would provide an effective means for a point-of-care platform that requires ultra-fast preconcentration method.

  • 유한요소법은 거의 모든 물리계를 대상으로 특정범위의 해석을 할수있는 방법이며 이에 경계요소법등을 보강하면 각종 센서류등으로만 측정이 가능한 여러가지 고체역학적측정, 유체역학적측정, 전자계적측정 및 물성적측정등을 몇가지의 관련 데이타를 가지고 수행할 수 있는 Tool을 만드는데 주도적 역할을 할 것으로 사료된다. 그리고 실제로 유한요소법을 기초로한 유용한 Simulator들이 실용화되어 있는 실정이며 특히 물성계를 해석하는 Simulator의 개발이 미개척분야로 남아있어 첨단 신소재 개발분야에 대한 연구가 요구된다.

  • The electro-rheological fluids for semi-active suspension system are a class of colloidal dispersion which exhibit large reversible changes in their rheological behavior when they are subjected to external electrical fields. This paper presents Bingham properties of ER fluids subjected to temperature variations. In addition, an appropriate size of the ER damper for a passenger car is proposed to investigate the effects of Bingham characteristics on the damping performance. The filed-dependent damping forces are evaluated according to the temperature variation and sedimentation ratio.

  • The battery pack, a main component of NEV(Neighborhood Electric Vehicle), needs cooling system when it is charging or discharging to prevent the degradation of the battery charging efficiency. The purpose of this study is to analyse the effects of cooling methods, changing positions of inlet and outlet and changing area ratios of inlet and outlet. It has been observed that in the point of uniform cooling suction from the exit side is more efficient than blowing from the inlet. And there is a suitable inlet/outlet area ratio in maximizing the mass flow rate. The numerical analyse using a commercial code STAR-CCM+ version 4.02 were used for the study.

환단면 선형유도편자펌프의 유로 내 MHD 동특성 해석

  • 액체금속로 순환 냉각재인 전기전도성 나트륨 유체를 전자기적으로 구동시키는 선형유도 전자펌프의 유로내 과기유체역학적(MHD) 특성 분포를 해석적으로 계산하였다. 유로 내 반지름 방향의 좌표에 따라 유속, 점성력 및 전자기 구동력 둥을 계산하여 하트만 수(H$_{a}$ )에 따른 유체 특성의 변화를 그래프로 도시하였다. 하트만 수(H$_{a}$ )가 증가할수록 도전성 나트륨 유체의 유속 분포는 점점 평탄해지고 점성력은 전자기력에 비해 무시할 정도로 작은 값을 가짐을 알 수 있었다. 따라서 적지 않은 자기장에 의해 구동되는 전자펌프에 있어서 금속 유체는 마치 일정 두께의 금속 고체로 취급될 수 있음을 예측할 수 있었다.
