Analysis of side-polished fiber couplers with an intermediate-coupling layer and improvement of their coupling efficiency (중간 결합층이 적층된 측면연마 광섬유 결합기의 해석 및 결합효율 개선)

  • An in-line fiber coupler, based on side-polished single-mode fibers covered with an intermediate coupling layer and a planar waveguide, is analyzed by modeling the interaction region as an equivalent multi-layered planar waveguide. The reflectance for the multi-layered structure with and without buffer layer is illustrated as a function of the refractive index and thickness of the overlay waveguides. When the refractive index of the overlay waveguides is greater than that of the fiber core, the conditions for the intermediate coupling layer to increase the power coupling from the fiber to the overlays is also explained. Through the experimental results using a LiNbO$_3$planar waveguide, we show that the theoretical analysis is reasonable and in good agreement with the measured values.

A Miniaturized VCO Using Multi-layer Ceramic Technology (세라믹 적층 기술을 이용한 초소형 VCO)

  • A miniaturized voltage controlled oscillator using multi-layer ceramic technology at PCS frequency band is designed and fabricated. To improve the phase noise characteristics and to reduce the size, the strip line which is embedded in a high performance multi-layer ceramic substrate is used as an inductor of VCO. And the fabricated VCO is very small size ($6mm\times6mm\times2mm$). At the bias condition of 3.3 V and 9mA, the output power and phase noise in the operating frequency range of 1,720~1,780 MHz are -3.7 dBm and -95 dBc/Hz at 10 KHz offset from the carrier, respectively. The phase noise and size are better than the conventional VCO using glass epoxy substrate.

  • Because of the inherent flexibility in their design for improved material properties, composites have wide applications in aerospace vehicles and automobiles. The purpose of this study is to investigate the energy absorption characteristics of CFRP( Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastics); tubes on static and impact tests. Static compression tests have been carried out using the static testing machine(Shin-gang buckling testing machine)and impact compression tests have been carried out using the vertival crushing testing machine. When such tubes were subjected to crushing loads, the response is complex and depends on the interaction between the different mechanisms that control the crushing process. The collapse characteristics and energy absorption were examined. Trigger and interlaminar number affect energy absorption capability of CFRP tubes.

Matrix Cracking and Delmaination in Laminated Composite Plates Due to Impact (적층복합판의 충격에 의한 모재균열 및 층간분리에 관한 연구)

  • An investigation was performed to study the matrix cracking and delamination in laminated composite plates due to transverse impact. A model was developed for predicting the initiation of the matrix cracking and the shape and size of impact-induced delamination in laminated composite plates resulting from the ballistic impact. The model consists of a stress analysis and a failure analysis. A transient finite element analysis which was based on the higher-order shear deformation theory was adopted for calculating the stresses inside the laminated composite plates during impact. A failure analysis was used to predict the initial intraply matrix cracking and the shape and size of the interface delamination in the laminates. As a results, a shear matrix cracking which was governed by the transverse interlaminar shear stress occured at the middle layer near the midplane of laminates and a bending matrix cracking which was governed by the transverse inplane stress occured at the bottom layer near the surface of laminates. In a thick laminates, a shear matrix cracking generated first at the middle layer of laminates, but in a thin laminates, a bending matrix cracking generated first at the bottom layer of laminates.

레이저 결정화 다결정 실리콘 기판에서의 게이트 산화막두께에 따른 1T-DRAM의 전기적 특성

  • DRAM (dynamic random access memory)은 하나의 트랜지스터와 하나의 캐패시터의 구조 (1T/1C)를 가지는 구조로써 빠른 동작 속도와 고집적에 용이하다. 하지만 고집적화를 위해서는 최소한의 캐패시터 용량 (30 fF/cell)을 충족시켜 주어야 한다. 이에 따라 캐패시터는 stack 혹은 deep trench 구조로 제작되어야 한다. 위와 같은 구조로 소자를 구현할 시 제작공정이 복잡해지고 캐패시터의 집적화에도 한계가 있다. 이러한 문제점을 보완하기 위해 1T-DRAM이 제안되었다. 1T-DRAM은 하나의 트랜지스터로 이루어져 있으며 SOI (silicon-on-insulator) 기판에서 나타나는 floating body effect를 이용하여 추가적인 캐패시터를 필요로 하지 않는다. 하지만 SOI 기판을 이용한 1T-DRAM은 비용측면에서 대량생산화를 시키기는데 어려움이 있으며, 3차원 적층구조로의 적용이 어렵다. 하지만 다결정 실리콘을 이용한 기판은 공정의 대면적화가 가능하고 비용적 측면에서 유리한 장점을 가지고 있으며, 적층구조로의 적용 또한 용이하다. 본 연구에서는 ELA (eximer laser annealing) 방법을 이용하여 비정질 실리콘을 결정화시킨 기판에서 1T-DRAM을 제작하였다. 하지만 다결정 실리콘은 단결정 실리콘에 비해 저항이 크기 때문에, 메모리 소자로서 동작하기 위해서는 높은 바이어스 조건이 필요하다. 게이트 산화막이 얇은 경우, 게이트 산화막의 열화로 인하여 소자의 오작동이 일어나게 되고 게이트 산화막이 두꺼울 경우에는 전력소모가 커지게 된다. 그러므로 메모리 소자로서 동작 할 수 있는 최적화된 게이트 산화막 두께가 필요하다. 제작된 소자는 KrF-248 nm 레이저로 결정화된 ELA 기판위에 게이트 산화막을 10 nm, 20 nm, 30 nm 로 나누어서 증착하여, 전기적 특성 및 메모리 특성을 평가하였다.

A Simple and Accurate Analysis of Two Dimensional Concrete Slab for a Railroad Bridge by the Composite Laminates Plate Theory (복합적층판 이론에 의한 2차원 콘크리트 슬래브 철도교량의 정확하고 간단한 해석)

  • In this paper, two dimensional concrete slabs for a railroad bridge were analyzed by the specially orthotropic laminates theory. Both the geometrical and material property of the cross section of the slab was considered symmetrically with respect to the neutral surface so that the bending extension coupling stiffness, $B_{ij}$ = 0, and $D_{16}=D_{26}=0$ Bridge deck behaves as specially orthotropic plates. In general, the analytical solution for such complex systems is very difficult to obtain. Thus, finite difference method was used for analysis of the problem. In this paper, the finite difference method and the beam theory were used for analysis.

Effect of Packaging Materials and Methods on the Storage Quality of Dried Persimmon (포장재 및 포장방법이 저장곶감의 품질에 미치는 영향)

  • Storage quality dried persimmons was evaluated by 5 scale scoring hedonic sensory analysis in various packaging methods and materials. Dried persimmons were deteriorated within 1 months of storage in polyethyene(PE, 0.08mm) and 1.5-2.5 months in nylon(PA/PE, 0.1mm) packages at room temperature, But those were kept good quality for 5 months of storage in PA/PE package and for 8 months in $CO_2$ or $N_2$ gas filled polyester/aluminum/casteded polypropylene(PET/Al./CPP, 0.1mm) package at $5^{\circ}C$. Dried persimmon had the best quality in water content of 37% and at humidity 75% and its shelf-life was noticialy prolonged by low temperature.

  • In this paper the laminate design parameters are researched to maximize the performance index of a composite pressure vessel. To maximize the performance index, the three design variables that the thickness of each of helical and hoop layers and the length of hoop layer are considered under the assumption of fixed internal space. To optimize the variables, the response surface method is introduced for construction of the surrogate model and the ANOVA(analysis of variance) is performed to evaluate the effects of the variables. The optimization problem is formulated to maximize performance index under the burst pressure constraint. To verify the effectiveness of the research, numerical analyses are performed for the optimum model.

  • An MCP(Multi-chip Package) is a package consisting of several chips. Since several chips are stacked on the same substrate, multiple assembly steps are required to make an MCP. The characteristics of the chips in the MCP are dependent on the layer sequence. In the MCP manufacturing process, it is very essential to carefully consider the layer sequence in scheduling to achieve the intended throughput as well as the WIP balance. In this paper, we propose a scheduling methodology considering the layer sequence constraint.

A Study on SAW Properties of Bilayer Thin Film Structure Composed of ZnO and Dielectric Thin Films (ZnO 박막과 유전체 박막으로 구성된 이중구조의 물성 및 표면 탄성파 특성)

  • SAW properties of SiNx/ZnO bilayer thin film structure were analyzed. ZnO thin films were deposited by rf magnetron sputter using O2 gas as an oxidizer. Structure of ZnO thin films was affected by Ar/O2 ratio. At the gas ratio of Ar/O2=67/33, the standard deviation of X-ray rocking curve of (002) preferred ZnO thin film was 2.17 degree. This value is sufficient to use ZnO thin films as an acoustic element. SAW velocity of glass/SiNx(7000Å)/Al/ZnO(5μm) structure was max. 2.2% faster than that of ZnO/glass.
