Classification of Vocabulary for Evaluation on Machine Noise at High Noisy Workshop (고소음 작업장 기계소음 평가를 위한 어휘의 유형화)

  • After the Industrialization of 1960s, while it has greatly contributed to the industrial development owing to acceleration of mechanization, but it is real situation that the countermeasure to noise damage generating at the loud noise workshop is scarcely made. Especially, the machine noise made at factory and workplace is so shocking and repeatedly reiterating terrible noise that most of the spot workers are forcedly imposing such dangers as the severe unpleasant feeling and hearing impairments. On such point of view, this research has attempted to extract the proper rating vocabulary in order for evaluation on machine noise made at the high noisy workshop, therefore it is considering that those extracted vocabularies could be utilized as the useful psycho-acoustic experiment for evaluation on machine noise, also for establishment of regulation standard in domestic high noisy workshop.

  • For the accurate evaluation of traffic noise with various spectrums and fluctuation characteristics, evaluation systems should reflect not only physical quantities but also the psychological respects of individual persons. In this study, adequate words for evaluating traffic noise have been extracted by reviewing the existing vocabularies and augmenting this with the results of a questionnaire prepared especially for apartment dwellers. As a result of this study, followings are suggested. 1) Vocabularies such as 'disagreeable', 'annoying', 'strident', 'disturbed', 'irritate', 'unpleasant', 'dislike' are classified into the first factor by factor analysis. 2) As a result of surveying overlapping vocabularies for each sound sources, 'noisy', 'annoying', strident', 'unpleasant', 'loudness' are main unpleasant vocabularies to franc noise occurring in our domestic apartment houses.

  • This study aims to select the proper vocabularies for evaluation about the noise emission from water supply and drain installations in apartment bathroom. As a result of surveying overlapping vocabularies and scores of them for each sound sources, 'annoying', 'noisy', 'dynamic' and 'strident' are main unpleasant vocabularies to the noise from water supply and drain installations in apartment bathroom. And vocabularies such as 'dynamic', 'sudden', 'loudness', 'noisy' are classified into the first factor by analysis.

  • In this study, the extracted words from the former study such as annoying, loud, noisy, irritating, disagreeable, strident, disturbed, and dissonant are given to subjects in psycho acoustic experiment lab. And then, correlation analysis between the words and floor impact noise rating method were carried out. As a result of this study followings are suggested ‘Annoying’ is the word most accurately expressing the subjects’ unpleasant feeling of domestic floor impact noise. The results of this study could be basic materials for psycho acoustic experiments for criteria on floor impact noise and Sound Classification on Floor Impact Sound Insulation Performance.

On such point of view, this Research has attempted to extract the proper Rating Vocabulary in order for valuation on Instrument Noise made at the terrible noise-workplace, therefore it is considering that those extracted Vocabularies could be utilized as the useful materials for appraisal on Instrument Noise, also for establishment of Regulation-Standard with regard to Acoustic Psychology Experimentation and Instrument Noise.

A Model of English Part-Of-Speech Determination for English-Korean Machine Translation (영한 기계번역에서의 영어 품사결정 모델)

  • The part-of-speech determination is necessary for resolving the part-of-speech ambiguity in English-Korean machine translation. The part-of-speech ambiguity causes high parsing complexity and makes the accurate translation difficult. In order to solve the problem, the resolution of the part-of-speech ambiguity must be performed after the lexical analysis and before the parsing. This paper proposes the CatAmRes model, which resolves the part-of-speech ambiguity, and compares the performance with that of other part-of-speech tagging methods. CatAmRes model determines the part-of-speech using the probability distribution from Bayesian network training and the statistical information, which are based on the Penn Treebank corpus. The proposed CatAmRes model consists of Calculator and POSDeterminer. Calculator calculates the degree of appropriateness of the partof-speech, and POSDeterminer determines the part-of-speech of the word based on the calculated values. In the experiment, we measure the performance using sentences from WSJ, Brown, IBM corpus.

  • Recently, in accordance with the buildings are rapidly becoming to high-stories, large-sizes, and since the case that noise of equipment machinery, tool itself infringes the life environment is on increasing, this is becoming to the object of civil appeal. Accordingly, in order to set up a countermeasure against such equipment machinery noise, even a systemic evaluating method is required, up to now while the appraisal that considering on the physical characteristic only had been done, but the characteristic about subjective valuation was not reflected as yet. Therefore, in this research, through the 1st, 2nd Psycho-Acoustics Experiments, the 30 vocabularies were extracted for evaluation of the construction equipment noise. As the result of Element Analysis, the 3 Elements were extracted from these vocabularies, and it could be understood that these Elements have been trustfully selected. It is now considering that the extracted vocabularies as per the above result would be used to Psycho-Acoustic Evaluation on Equipment Noise, and Psycho-Acoustics Experiment.

  • Korean Classical Music, as the abbreviated wording for 'Korean Music', is being used as the indicating phraseology for our traditional music that distinguishing from Western Music, the foreign music or foreign-styled popular music. Since such Korean Classical Music has the different acoustic characteristics from Western Music, it needs its own performance space for the special exclusive-use of Korean Classical Music. Likewise, even though the demand for the performance space of special exclusive-use for Korean Classical Music where Korean Classical Music is rendering, is on increasing tendency due to the increase of national concern about traditional culture art, since it is being planned without any concrete standard or method that gratifies the supreme listening condition, it is the real situation that a securement of the satisfying acoustic condition is very difficult, after the completion of construction. On such viewpoint, in order to evaluate the acoustic characteristics of the performance space of special exclusive-use for Korean Classical Music, based on the subjective response which reflects human being's psychological attribute at first, this Study has attempted to extract the proper evaluation vocabulary for appraisement on Korean Classical Music. The abstracted vocabulary in such way would be used significantly for Subjective Response Evaluation in order for the evaluation on the Acoustic Characteristics of the performance space of special exclusive-use for Korean Classical Music.
