In Korea, the ever-increasing population has become a serious problem and the decreasing of cultivated lard area per person has become a major concern. Therefore, today we are implementing a green revolution using miracle varieties which require more fertilizer. The increased use of fertilizer along with development and adoption of high yielding varieties is the key to carrying out this green revolution. Fertilizer consumption in Korea is mainly influenced by agricultural techniques, fertilizer prices and government policies for increasing food production. If there are no special change, such as a cataclysm or an exhaustion of resources, it is quite clear that the fertilizer demand will increase to the near maximum ceiling point of optimum levels for crops in the year 2000. Fertilizer demand is not the amount of fertilizer that will be used by the farmer, but the actual optimum amount of plant nutrients required for maximum production. In this report, two alternative strategies are consideded in forecasting the future feitilizer demands. Alternative I is projected by reviewing consumption amounts over the last 10 years (1966~75) in Korea. The annual rate of increase in fertilizer consumption for the last 10 years was approximately 8.7% (table 1). Plant nutrient consumption rates in later years have been more balanced, and also fertilizer consumption per total acreage is considerably higher in Korea than in other countries (table 11), consequently the rate of increase in the future is expected to decline. Looking at the long term projections, the average annual rate of increase is expected to be 7% for 1976~80, 2.5% for 1981~90, 1.5% for 1991~2000. Thus, total projected fertilizer demands are estimated at 1,208,000M/T by 1980, 1,547,000M/T by 1990, 1,795,000M/T by 2000 (table 16). Alternative II is based on projected optimum fertilizer levels for crops and on increased crop acreage. The government recommended fertilizer rate has increased by a factor of 0.99 to 5.49 over the past twelve years depending on the specific crops (table 4). Levels of fertilizer demand recommended by government (table 7) in 1976 are still low compared with actual optimum fertilizer demands for crops (table 5). Therefore, future incaeases in fertilizer usage are anticipated. Thus, total projected fertilizer demands are estimated at 1,229,000M/T by 1980, 1,493,000M/T by 1990 and 1,898,000M/T by 2000(table 16).
The sensory characteristics of imported (two dry, two sweet, and one medium dry wines) and domestic (one sweet wine) red wine were evaluated by 250 panels. The preferences of aroma, color, sweetness, tartness, astringency, and overall acceptability were determined by 5-point just-about-right scale. Among six wines, B sample obtained the highest mean overall acceptability score of 3.67 and its chemical and sensory characteristics were as follow: cherry or strawberry aroma, 9.4 brix, 3.7% of sugar content, pH 3.5, 10% of ethanol, 0.14% of tannin, 5.74 mg/mL of total organic acids, and color of $L(12.04{\pm}0.01)$, $a(33.90{\pm}0.19)$, and $b(8.22{\pm}0.00)$. These results revealed that Korean consumers generally prefer sweet taste to dry one, flat taste to bitter one, and fruity aroma to others. Panels preferred a red wine containing high sugar content of $5{\sim}10%$. On the other hand, panels showed low preference to the wine containing tannin above 0.16%. However, these general trends were slightly varied depending on their ages and consuming frequencies.
Recently, the use of lithium ion battery(LIB) has increased. As a result, the price of lithium and the amount spent lithium on ion battery has increased. For this reason, research on recycling lithium in waste LIBs has been conducted1). In this study, the effect of roasting for the selective lithium leaching from the spent LIBs is studied. Chemical transformation is required for selective lithium leaching in NCM LiNixCoyMnzO2) of the spent LIBs. The carbon in the waste EV cell powder reacts with the oxygen of the oxide at high temperature. After roasting at 550 ~ 850 ℃ in the Air/N2 atmosphere, the chemical transformation is analysed by XRD. The heat treated powders are leached at a ratio of 1:10 in D.I water for ICP analysis. As a result of XRD analysis, Li2CO3 peak is observed at 700 ℃. After the heat treatment at 850 ℃, a peak of Li2O was confirmed because Li2CO3 is decomposed into Li2O and CO2 over 723 ℃. The produced Li2O reacted with Al at high temperature to form LiAlO2, which does not leach in D.I water, leading to a decrease in lithium leaching ratio. As a result of lithium leaching in water after heat treatment, lithium leaching ratio was the highest after heat treatment at 700 ℃. After the solid-liquid separation, over 45 % of lithium leaching was confirmed by ICP analysis. After evaporation of the leached solution, peak of Li2CO3 was detected by XRD.

The object of this study was to investigate different levels of extruded rice product(Nutri-RS®) supplementation as an alternative to lactose on growth performance, diarrhea score, fecal E.coli and volatile fatty acid(VFA) in weaning pigs. Treatments were 1) Control(basal), L3(basal+3% extruded rice product), L6(basal+6% extruded rice product). The control diet in Phase I and Phase II contained 16 and 9% of lactose, respectively. For the feeding trial, a total of 81 crossbred pigs, averaging 7.56±1.18 kg body weight, were allotted to three treatments in three replicates with nine pigs per pen by RCBD. The experimental period was total 5 weeks. During the whole experimental period, there were no significant differences in growth performance, diarrhea score, fecal volatile fatty acid concentration among all treatments. Although there were no significant differences, pigs fed diet of L6 tended to show higher BW and ADG, ADFI, and fecal volatile fatty acid concentration compared to other treatments. Treatment L6 showed the lowest fecal E. coli count among all treatments(P<0.05). These results suggested that inclusion of extruded rice product has similar performance a with 6% of lactose in diet for weaning pigs and reduce approximately 9% production cost of weaning pig's diet. Therefore, extruded rice product could be utilized as an alternative feed ingredient to lactose in weaning pig’s diet.
To investigate the relationship between the carcass defects considered by a meat grader and quality grade A, a total of 59,700 broiler carcasses, which were reared from September 1, 2007 to August 31, 2008 and randomly selected from 597 broiler farms with 100 broilers in each farm, were graded by a meat grader using the Korean meat grading system. The average slaughter weight of the broilers increased at the 31- to 33-d age but decreased after the 37-d age. The average daily gain to grade A ratio of the broilers was highest in autumn, and the bruises, flesh blemishes, and abnormalities of the carcasses were found to have been most frequent in winter (p<0.05). The number of economical defects (EDs) increased with the increase in the slaughter age, and the correlation coefficients of the EDs and grade A were -0.88, -0.48, and -0.12 in terms of the conformation, exposed flesh/cuts/tears, and skin discolorations of the carcasses, respectively. The correlation coefficients of the non-economical defects (NEDs) and the grade A of the broiler carcasses were -0.16, -0.22, and -0.32 in terms of the feathers, alien substances, and carcass treatment, respectively. The total number of defects (EDs + NEDs) and the grade A were highly correlated (-0.93), and in particular, the correlation between the grade A and the EDs was -0.91. It can be deemed that the grade A from a meat grader is highly correlated with the EDs. Therefore, the results suggest that broiler carcass grade evaluation using a meat grading system can provide direct information on profits in the market. The resulting carcass grade of broilers can also provide the information needed to decide on a proper incentive for a farm that has attained a good quality grade.
Purpose: In 2003, we decided to buy a PET/CT, at the time, it was the latest cancer diagnostic medical equipment. Equipment company was offered the marketing of collaboration operation because the highly cost of PET/CT. However, this hospital's choice was own purchase way. In this study we evaluated the collaboration operation way by post-mortem analysis to the current situation. Materials and Methods: From 2004 until 2008, five years, we investigate the revenue analysis the number of PET/CT cases about own purchase way and collaboration operation way according (ABC costing). Results: The year 2004, own purchase way is 4 billion 9 thousand 2 hundred million won in deficit, the collaboration operation way is 1 billion 1 thousand 7 hundred million won in deficit. The year 2005, own purchase way is 1 billion 5 hundred million won in deficit, collaboration operation way is 8 thousand 7 hundred million won in deficit. However, the year 2006, own purchase way is 5 billion 1thousand 3 hundred million won in surplus, collaboration operation way is 9 thousand 9 hundred million won in deficits. The year 2007 and 2008, revenue of own purchase way is more increased but the collaboration operation way is more decreased. From the year 2004 to 2008, subtotal of own purchase way is 10 billion 8 thousand 8 hundred won in surplus, sub-total of collaboration operation way is 6 billion 7 thousand million won in deficit. Conclusion: Own purchase way has been a big benefit occurs and to reflect the equipment price, the collaboration operation way became to deficit continues. In other words, the problem of collaboration operation way showed us. When you buy the high cost Equipment, consideration will be risk and economic analysis of variance, the appropriate of the initial investment cost, clinical diagnostic needs and etc.
Seventy two Hanwoo steers in final fattening period ($585.87{\pm}41.02kg$) were randomly assigned to 3 groups, LPLT (relatively low protein and low energy; CP 12%, TDN 73%), LPHT (relatively low protein and high energy; CP 12%, TDN 75%) and HPHT (relatively high protein and high energy; CP 14%, TDN 75%) in concentrate feed for 163 days in order to investigate the effects on growth performance, carcass characteristics, and longissimus dorsi muscle's chemical compositions. Rice straw was also fed as a roughage. Because ADGs were higher in LPLT and HPHT than LPHT, feed efficiencies were improved in LPLT and HPHT group (P<0.05). Feeding concentrates with different CP and TDN levels had affected to improve back fat thickness and rib eye area in HPHT group but had no effect on carcass weight and meat yield index. Carcass weight for LPLT, LPHT and HPHT were $420.75{\pm}30.56$, $417.05{\pm}32.03$ and $418.32{\pm}32.03kg$, respectively. Meat quality grade was improved in HPHT (P<0.001), because the marbling score was highest in HPHT group. Auction prices (carcass/kg) of LPLT, LPHT and HPHT group were 17,904 won, 18,094 won and 18,899 won, respectively. The percentage of animals over grade 1 appeared in LPLT, LPHT and HPHT were 79.2, 72.7 and 90.8%, respectively. The results of chemical analysis of longissimus dorsi muscle showed no difference between groups but crude fat composition tended to be higher in HPHT group (P=0.088) than the other groups. Stearic acid contents in the muscle was significantly increased in HPHT group than LPLT group (P<0.05). Myristoleic acid and oleic acid composition in HPHT group was higher than LPLT and LPHT group. These results supported the hypothesis that supplementation of higher levels of crude protein and energy in concentrates to Hanwoo steers' during final fattening period improved the growth performance and the carcass quality grade.
The objective of this study is to analyze the production of extra-large egg and assess the impacts of exogenous factors in feeding the layer chicken. The main results of this study are as follows; First, feeding rations on the basics of statistics, internal maximum and minimum temperature and, the age at first egg affect the production of extra-large egg. Second, implicating the standardized coefficients from the conclusion of regression model estimating suggest that the amount of feed has the greatest impact on production followed by the age at first egg. Third, by using the elasticity of output and the volatility in the production, the result suggest that among the independent variable factors in the external volatility, the biggest one goes to feed ration, and the age at first egg follows. In order to control the production volatility in the extra-large egg production of the farms, it is necessary to manage an efficient feeding based on feed ration, age at first egg and, the maximum and minimum temperature inside the farm. Taken together, the results demonstrates that it should be concentrated by controlling the exogenous factors affecting extra large egg production and the management system construct, to increase extra-large egg production and the income of farmers at the same time.

This study was performed to develop menu satisfaction index in Business & Industry (B&I) food service and to survey customer's menu satisfaction using the index. The menu satisfaction index included 16 items with Likert 5 point. Cronbach's alpha to assess the internal reliability of the developed scales was 0.8917, which indicated highly reliable. Construct validity was assessed by principal components analysis and then four factors explaining 65.964% of the total variance were found. Among the 15 items of menu satisfaction, the average scores of all items were above 3.0 out of 5. As a result of analysis on menu satisfaction factors, 'propriety of food temperature' (3.52 out of 5) was the highest consideration followed by 'sufficiency of format' (3.46), 'excellence in food' (3.35) and 'well-being orientation' (3.31). It could be said that customer's perception on the menu quality was very positive. Four factors were correlated with overall menu satisfaction positively. Especially, 'excellence in food', and 'well-being orientation' and 'sufficiency of format' affected significantly on overall menu satisfaction. It concluded that customers were satisfied with portion size, temperature, price but their needs for taste and health/nutrition-related service would be increased. The menu satisfaction developed in this study should be applied to other B & I food service operation by type.
To develop natural flavoring substances. optimal hydrolysis conditions for two stage enzyme hydrolysates (TSEH) using low-utilized shellfishes such as purplish clam and frozen oyster stored at $-20^{\circ}C$ for 60 days. The optimal conditions for TSEH method were revealed in temperature at $50^{\circ}C$ 3 hours digestion with alcalase (Aroase AP-10, $0.3%$ w/v, pH 8.0) at the 1st stage and $45^{\circ}C$ 2 hours digestion with neutrase (Pandidase NP-2, $0.3\%$ w/v, pH 6.0) at the 2nd stage. Among water extracts, autolytic extracts and 4 kinds of enzyme hydrolysates tests, TSEH method was superior to other methods on the aspect of yields, nitrogen contents, taste such as umami and control of off-flayer formation, and transparency of extracts. From the results of chemical experiments and sensory evaluation, we may conclude that TSEH from low-utilized marine products is more flavorable compared the conventional enzyme hydrolysates, it could be commercialized as the seasoning substances.
