Live load data in domestic office buildings have been collected in a systematic manner. Based on surveyed data, equivalent uniformly distributed load intensities, which produce the same load effect as the actual spatially varying, live load, have been obtained for various structural members (such as slab, beam, column, etc. ). Influence surface method has been employed to compute load effects under real live load, including beam moment, slab moment as well as axial force in column. The results have been examined to find probabilistic characteristics and relationship between influence area and load intensity (or coefficient of variation). The results were also compared with other survey results and found to be reasonable. Based on the probabilistic load models obtained, the lifetime extreme values have been analyzed and compared with current design loads. Tentative equations applicable to decide more rational design loads are also suggested as functions of influence area.
Cross docking is a material handling and distribution concept in which products move directly from receiving dock to shipping dock, without being stored in a warehouse or distribution center. Depending on the facility and operating conditions or strategies employed, it is possible to generate various cross docking scenarios or models. The cross docking model, which is studied in this research, assumes there are a separate receiving dock and a separate shipping dock. It is also assumed that the products contained in a receiving truck and the products needed for a shipping truck are known in advance. Furthermore, the study is restricted to scenarios where there is only one receiving dock and only one shipping dock at the warehouse. The research objective is to find the best truck spotting sequence for both receiving and shipping trucks to minimize total operation time (i.e., the makespan) of the cross docking system.
Heat release characteristics of live fire load are an important parameter for performance oriented fire safety design of a building. While investigations have been carried out on the fire load and its burning behavior in office, residential and commercial buildings and so on, little effort has been paid for the rational treatment of fire load in bookstore. In this report, burning behavior of typical combustible objects in bookstore are studied by measuring heat release rates of bookshelf with book. Based on the results, it has reviewed fire safety when a fire accident occurs on the large bookstore and suggested peak heat release rate per burning surface, fire growth rate, etc of the live fire load required for fire safety design in bookstore.
This study was aimed at predicting to running speed related to alignment factors of forest road, and recommending the improvement method of forest road construction using the running speed of vehicles. For these purposes, this study proceeds to select forest roads after reviewing the planning papers and maps, to measure the road alignment factors such as longitudinal gradient, width of roadway, radius of curve, length of curve, superelevation, and conditions of road surface on the subject forest road. It was found that the average running speed of logging truck showed lower value than that of the expected speed of 'Forest Road Construction Regulations and Rules', and the average running speed of loaded truck showed 70-85% of the speed of empty truck. According to the road conditions, speed index (reductive ratio of running speed) was also calculated with respect to radius of curve, longitudinal dradient. The results of the study on the running speed of vehicle subject to the alignment of forest roads make it possible for one to judge the quality of the existed and to be constructed forest roads, to select the structure of forest road to improve the running speed of vehicle on forest road.

PC component allocation and loading plan can contribute to reductions in carbon dioxide emission and energy use of vehicles and total project costs with increased utilization of vehicle loading space. The study derived 18 considerations that PC construction plant managers and site managers take into account when they plan allocation and loading of PC components. Then, IPA (Importance and Performance Analysis) was performed to assess importance and performance of the 18 considerations. Results show that in the PC component allocation planning, considerations regarding the number of vehicles and existence of yard for storing PC components have not been taken into account well by the managers. In the PC component loading planning, PC component loading direction has not been reflected well by the managers although it is considered important by them. Recently, ill-planning issues of PC component transportation, such as inefficient use of vehicle space and loading with low stability, are frequent due to various types of PC components produced. In this context, if the results of this study are reflected in the development of component allocation and loading planning, vehicle management of PC projects would be more efficient, thereby leading to economic project management.
In this paper, we propose a new heuristic solution for 3D container packing problem for the variable sizes and types of freight. Frist of all, we consider the total cost of container charge i.e., handling, loading and transportation, where each freight will be specifically identified The types of containers and its number to be loaded am be selected automatically by minimizing the total cost of container charge. Maximization of loading space am be achieved efficiently by operating the palletizing and/or depalletizing of freight. By considering these factors we can determine the position of freight in the container and the loading sequence to be packing into the container. In container packing simulation, we can verify that the proposed heuristic algorithm indicates more efficiency space utilization and shows the possibility of using on commercial business.

Recently, the container terminal requires the study of method to increase efficiency through change of its operation method. Loading plan is a very important part to increase the efficiency of container terminal. Loading Plan is largely divided into two cases, deciding loading location and loading scheduling and this Paper proposes a more efficient method of container loading scheduling. Container loading scheduling is a problem of combination optimization to consider several items of loading location and operation equipments. etc. An existing method of cluster composition that decides the order of container loading scheduling has a restriction to increase the efficiency of work owing to rehandling problem. Therefore, we Propose a more efficient method of container loading scheduling which composes containers with identical attribution, based on ship loading list and yard map, into stack units of cluster, applying to hierarchical clustering method, and defines the restriction of working order. In this process, we can see a possible working path among clusters by defining the restriction of working order and search efficiency will be increased because of restricted search for working path.

Problems that satisfy various constraints while maintaining weight balance in ships or aircraft were studied. In addition, a study was conducted to solve the problem with a mathematical method under the condition that the shape and weight of the load are the same and the m×n (m and n are all odd) mesh structures. The problem is that the existing mathematical weight balancing method is not suitable for circular structures. In this paper, we studied the load stowing problem in a circular space where objects are loaded at the vertices of N equilateral polygons. Assuming that all N conformal polygons have an even number of angles, it was proved that a loading method that always maintains weight balance regardless of the variety of number of loads. By providing the structure and loading method of the drone loading ship, we showed that our method was appropriate.

With the development of the 4th industry, the logistics industry is evolving into a smart logistics system. However, ship work that transports vehicles is progressing slowly due to various problems. In this paper, we propose an stowage automation algorithm that can be used for cargo loading of vehicle carriers that shortens loading and unloading work time. The stowage automation algorithm returns the shortest distance by searching for a loading space and a movable path in the ship in consideration of the structure of the ship. The algorithm identifies walls, ramps and vehicles that have already been shipped, and can work even with randomly placed. In particular, it is expected to contribute to developing a smart logistics system for vehicle carriers by referring to the ship's master plan to search for vehicle loading and unloading space in each port and predict the shortest movable path.
Double Stack Train(DST) is being used variously around USA and Canada. The greatest advantage of the DST is mass transportation without extending the length of freight train and number of cars. So the DST system can be a kind of innovative train to increase the competitiveness of rail logistic business. As the domestic rail logistic increase, for enhancement of environment friendly green transportation amount, the DST needs more for efficiency. In this study, as the alternative way to introduce the DST to the Kyungbu Line, it's investigated the extensibility of rail freight with the relation of rail fare discount and examined the necessity of pilot business to the Kyungjeon Line which was expected comparatively lower cost. If the DST system is introduced to the Kyungjeon Line, the cost of mass transportation can be much lower and then the comparativeness of rail transportation will be increased, therefore logistic companies can have some margin additionally. In the result of survey to the related companies, if rail transportation fare is 37.7 % cheaper than current road transportation fare, the modal shift can be transferred by maximum 100%.
