안정적 좌굴 모델을 통한 저감쇠 직물 시뮬레이션

  • We present a cloth simulation technique that is very stable yet also responsive. The stability of the technique allows the use of a large fixed time step when simulating various types of fabrics and character motions. The animations generated using this technique are strikingly realistic. Wrinkles form and disappear in a quite natural way, which is the feature that most distinguishes textile fabrics from other sheet materials. Significant improvements in both the stability and realism were made possible by overcoming the post-buckling instability as well as the numerical instability. The instability caused by buckling arises from a structural instability and therefore cannot be avoided by simply employing an implicit method. Addition of a damping force may help to avoid instabilities; however, it can significantly degrade the realism of the cloth motion. In this paper, a new buckling model based on immediate buckling assumption is proposed. A cloth element is assumed to reach a stable configuration immediately once it begins to buckle. This assumption makes it possible to simulate the fabric buckling stably without introducing any fictitious damping force. Consequently, it produces highly responsive cloth motion as well as improves the stability by modeling the fabric-specific buckling property adequately.

  • A three-dimensional, finite difference, numerical model with free surface was developed on ${\sigma}$-coordinate. A semi-implicit numerical scheme in time has been adopted for computational efficiency. The scheme is essentially independent of the stringent stability criteria (CFL condition) for explicit schemes of external surface gravity wave. Implicit algorithm was applied for vertical shear stress, Coriolis force and pressure gradient terms. The reliability of the model with vertically variable grid system was checked by the comparison of simulation results with analytic solution of wind-driven currents in a one-dimensional channel. Sensitivity analysis of differencing parameters was carried out by applying the model to the calculation of wind-driven currents in a square lake.

A Study on a Nonlinear Cable Finite Element (非線形 케이블 有限要素에 관한 硏究)

  • A geometrically nonlinear cable finite element is presented to use in the static or dynamic modeling of offshore and onshore structures such as guyed tower, tension leg platform or mooring buoy, submarine cable, cable-stayed bridge, suspension bridge, cable roof and so on. The cable finite element is derived directly from the compatibility equations and flexibility matrix of elastic catenary cable theory for the arbitary plane loading and geome try. A general and virsatile computer program has been developed to perform the analyses of cable member itself or cable guyed or suspened structures, in which Newmark-$\beta$ method is used to obtain a time domain solution and Newton-Raphson iteration method is used to solve the nonlinear system of compatibility equations of cable and algebraic static or dynamic equations at each time step. The results from the static and dynamic analysis of a cable member by the computer program are summarized and presented.

Calculation Model of Time Varying Loudness by Using the Critical-banded Filters (임계 대역 필터를 이용한 과도음의 라우드니스 계산 모델)

  • It is blown that the loudness is one of the most important metrics in assessing the sound quality and a calculation method for loudness has been standardized for steady sounds. In this study, a new loudness model is suggested for dealing with the transient sound for a unified analysis of various practical sounds. A signal processing technique is introduced for this purpose, which is required for the band subdivision and the prediction of band-level change of transient sounds. In addition, models for the post-masking and the temporal integration are adopted in the analysis of the loudness of transient sounds. In order to solve the problem of the conventional loudness model in the pure-tone signal processing, a critical band filter is employed in the analysis, which consists of 47 critical filters having a filter spacing of a half of the critical bandwidth. For testing the effectiveness of the present model, the predicted responses are compared with the experimental data and it is observed that they are in good agreements.

Direct-current Dielectrophoretic Motions of a Single Particle due to Interactions with a Nearby Nonconducting Wall (비전도성 벽과의 상호작용에 따른 단일 입자의 직류 유전영동 운동)

  • In this paper, we have numerically investigated two-dimensional dielectrophoretic (DEP) motions of a single particle suspended freely in a viscous fluid, interacting with a nearby nonconducting planar wall, under an externally applied uniform direct-current electric field. Particularly, we solve the Maxwell equation with a large sharp jump in the electric conductivity at the particle-fluid interface and then integrate the Maxwell stress tensor to compute the DEP force on the particle. Results show that, under an electric field parallel to the wall, one particle is always repelled to move far away from the wall and the motion depends strongly on the particle-wall spacing and the particle conductivity. The motion strength vanishes when the particle is as conductive as the fluid and increases as the conductivity deviates further from that of the fluid.

  • To verify the performance of roadside barriers, occupant risk indices are calculated from acceleration and angular velocity data of vehicle crash tests. The occupant risk indices to be computed include THIV(Theoretical Head Impact Velocity), PHD(Post-impact Head Deceleration), ASI(Acceleration Severity Index), OIV(Occupant Impact Velocity) and ORA(Occupant Ridedown Acceleration). There is a confusion due to different values of occupant risk indices produced for the same test data because various computational procedures and data processing methods can be applied to compute them. To slove this problem the effects of various numerical procedures and data processing methods on occupant risk indices were investigated. If the sampling rate specified in the guidelines is used for full-scale vehicle crash tests, an interpolation of impact time and numerical integration methods do not result in an appreciable change of THIV and OIV. The way to determine 10msec moving average for PHD and zero offset of data processing should be specified in the guidelines because 10msec moving average and zero offset methods have a significant influence on occupant risk indices.

  • 하천 유사량 자료는 하천의 이 치수 목적으로 활용할 수 있는 기본 자료중 하나로서 하상변동 예측, 저수지 퇴사량 추정, 하도 계획과 설계, 유사조절 계획 수립 및 기타 구조물 등의 영향 평가 등 다양하게 활용할 수 있다. 정도 높은 유사량 자료를 측정하기 위해서는 현장측정부터 분석까지 정확한 과정과 세밀한 준비가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 정도 높은 유사량 자료를 생산하기 위하여 국가 유사량 관측망 중 19개 지점(율극, 점촌, 일선교, 구미, 왜관, 선산, 죽고, 진동, 개진2, 정암, 회덕, 마륵, 나주, 학교, 남평, 영수, 선암, 구례2, 죽곡, 용서, 곡성)에 대하여 부유사량 특성분석을 수행하고 이를 반영하여 유량-부유사량관계곡선식을 개발하였다. 유사량 측정과정은 사전조사, 현장측정, 실험실분석, 모형적용 단계를 거친다. 사전조사 단계에서는 현장에 대한 현장안전, 지점특성 등의 현장관련 정보를 수집하여 현장측정 계획을 수립한다. 현장측정 단계에서는 사전에 유량측정 자료를 이용하여 측선을 나누는 등유량법과 등간격법을 사용하였으며, ISO 기준 이상의 5~8개 측선을 나누어 측정하였다. 측정장비는 D-74 부유사 채취기를 이용하여 왕복수심적분법으로 부유사량 샘플을 채취 하였다. 실험실분석은 유량조사사업단 유사분석센터에서 채취 시료에 대한 농도, 레이저 회절법을 이용한 부유사입도분석, 하상토분석(체분석)을 실시하였다. 또한, 유량-부유사량 농도 변화양상과 부유사량 특성분석을 이용한 부유사량 측정결과를 평가하였고 각 지점의 부유사량특성을 잘 나타낼 수 있는 지수식($Q_{ss}=aQ^b$)을 이용하여 유량-부유사량관 계곡선식을 개발하였다.

Development of a Probabilistic Model for the Estimation of Yearly Workable Wave Condition Period for Offshore Operations - Centering on the Sea off the Ulsan Harbor (해상작업 가능기간 산정을 위한 확률모형 개발 - 울산항 전면 해역을 중심으로)

  • In this study, a probabilistic model for the estimation of yearly workable wave condition period for offshore operations is developed. In doing so, we first hindcast the significant wave heights and peak periods off the Ulsan every hour from 2003.1.1 to 2017.12.31 based on the meteorological data by JMA (Japan Meterological Agency) and NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), and SWAN. Then, we proceed to derive the long term significant wave height distribution from the simulated time series using a least square method. It was shown that the agreements are more remarkable in the distribution in line with the Modified Glukhovskiy Distribution than in the three parameters Weibull distribution which has been preferred in the literature. In an effort to develop a more comprehensive probabilistic model for the estimation of yearly workable wave condition period for offshore operations, wave height distribution over the 15 years with individual waves occurring within the unit simulation period (1 hour) being fully taken into account is also derived based on the Borgman Convolution Integral. It is shown that the coefficients of the Modified Glukhovskiy distribution are $A_p=15.92$, $H_p=4.374m$, ${\kappa}_p=1.824$, and the yearly workable wave condition period for offshore work is estimated to be 319 days when a threshold wave height for offshore work is $H_S=1.5m$. In search of a way to validate the probabilistic model derived in this study, we also carry out the wave by wave analysis of the entire time series of numerically simulated significant wave heights over the 15 years to collect every duration periods of waves the height of which are surpassing the threshold height which has been reported to be $H_S=1.5m$ in the field practice in South Korea. It turns out that the average duration period is 45.5 days from 2003 to 2017, which is very close to 46 days from the probabilistic model derived in this study.

한국산 선발 계통, 일본산 양식 계통 그리고 이들 두 계통간 잡종 참돔 집단의 암모니아성 질소 배설 및 분 배출

  • 양식 산업에 있어 사육 생물의 빠른 성장은 가장 요구되는 특성이다. 특히, 선발육종을 통한 성장 개선은 사료의 효율적 이용과 연관되어 있으며, 균형 잡힌 단백질 대사 등을 통해 이루어진다. 대부분의 경골어류는 단백질 대사의 마지막 부산물로 암모니아를 생성하여 배설하며, 이를 통한 사료 내 단백질의 효율적 이용성을 비교하는 척도로 제시되어 왔다(Ming, 1985). 따라서 본 실험에서는 한국해양연구원에서 선발육종 해 온 참돔과 일본 양식산 참돔 및 이들의 교배 자손들을 대상으로 일간 먹이 공급, 절식 그리고 1회 만복 공급에 따른 암모니아성 질소 배설률을 조사하였으며, 일간 먹이 공급에 따른 각 교배 자손들의 분 배출 특성을 알아보았다. 실험어는 일본 양식산인 JPN 교배구 자손과 한국해양연구원 선발육종산인 KORDI F4 교배구 자손, 그리고 JPN$\times$KORDI F4♂ 교배구 자손을 대상으로 실시하였다. 체중이 각각 17.1$\pm$0.1 g (JPN 교배구; 그룹 1), 17.7$\pm$0.1 g (JPN♀$\times$KORDI F4♂; 그룹 2), 21.5$\pm$0.1 g (KORDI F4; 그룹 3)인 참돔 치어를 각각 15마리씩 3반복 수용하여 실험에 이용하였다. 실험어는 지름이 33 cm이고 높이가 34 cm인 둥근 투명 플라스틱 수조에 수용하고 분 수집기인 TUF column (passing effluent water through a special test tube) system을 이용 어체중의 3%에 해당하는 사료 량을 일간 세 번에 나누어 동일량을, 09시부터 17시까지 4시간 간격으로 공급한 14일째에 일간 먹이 공급에 따른 24시간 동안의 참돔 종간 잡종 치어의 총암모니아성 질소(total ammonia nitrogen, TAN) 배설률 및 분 배출률을 조사하였다. 이 조사가 끝난 후 3일간 절식시킨 다음 내인성 암모니아성 질소 배설을 조사하였으며, 이어서 1회 만복 사료 공급한 다음 이에 따른 암모니아성 질소 배설 경향을 알아보았다. 일간 먹이 공급에 따른 각 실험구의 암모니아 배설은 세 가지 계통 참돔치어 모두 먹이 섭취 후 암모니아 배설로 인한 TAN 농도가 지속적으로 증가하는 경향을 보였으며, 시간당 TAN 배설률을 적분한 결과, 그룹 1과 2 그리고 3의 일간 TAN 배설률은 각각 637.3$\pm$36.5 mg/kg fish/day, 684.3$\pm$18.5 mg/kg fish/day 그리고 772.8$\pm$17.3 mg/kg fish/day로 나타나 그룹 3의 일간 TAN 배설률이 가장 높은 결과를 보였다. 3일간 절식 후 그룹 1, 2, 그리고 2의 TAN 배설률은 각각 8.08~14.15 mg/kg fish/hr, 6.50~12.20 mg/kg fish/hr, 그리고 6.67~8.60 mg/kg fish/hr의 범위를 보여 거의 일정한 농도로 나타났다. 시간당 TAN 배설률을 적분한 결과, 그룹 1, 2 그리고 3의 일간 TAN 배설률은 각각 286.9$\pm$28.3 mg/kg fish/day, 215.7$\pm$5.5 mg/kg fish/day 그리고 179.3$\pm$7,7 mg/kg fish/day로 나타나 먹이 공급과는 달리 내인성 TAN 배설의 경우 그룹 1의 배설률이 가장 높은 결과를 보였다. 1회 만복 먹이 공급에 따른 TAN 배설 경향은 그룹 1과 2의 TAN 배설률은 먹이 공급 6시간 후 가장 높은 값인 44.19$\pm$2.90 mg/kg fish/hr와 41.70$\pm$1.40 mg/kg fish/hr을 보였고, 그룹 3에서는 4시간 후에 가장 높은 값인 31.23$\pm$1.39 mg/kg fish/day로 나타났다. 일간 먹이 공급에 따른 각 실험구의 총 분 배출량은 그룹 1의 경우 총 분 배출량은 2.17$\pm$0.1 g/kg fish와 91.15$\pm$4.53 g/kg feed로 나타났고, 그룹 2에서는 2.26$\pm$0.14 g/kg fish와 95.02$\pm$3.18 g/kg feed, 그룹 3에서는 2.81$\pm$0.73 g/kg fish와 132.85$\pm$34.0 g/kg feed로 나타나 유의적인 차이는 보이지 않았으나(P>0.05), 그룹 3의 배출 비율이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 시간 경과에 따른 분 배출 비율은 그룹 1의 경우 먹이 공급 24시간 후 총 분의 60.6%를 보여 반면, 그룹 2와 3에서는 각각 67.8%와 77.8%를 보여 그룹 1이 다른 그룹에 비해 분 배출 비율이 낮은 것으로 나타났다.

Quantitative Evaluation of Energy Coupling between Quasi-Periodic Substorms and High-Speed Coronal Streams (준 주기적인 서브스톰과 고속 태양풍 사이의 에너지 결합에 대한 정량적 평가)

  • It has been known that high-speed solar wind streams associated with coronal holes lead to quasi-periodic substorms that occur approximately every $2{\sim}4$ hours. In this paper we examined 222 repetitive substorms that occurred during high-speed stream periods in July through December in 2003 to quantitatively determine a range of energy input from the solar wind into the magnetosphere between two consecutive substorms. For this study, we have used the Akasofu ${\varepsilon}$-parameter to time-integrate it for the interval between two consecutive substorms, and have applied this method to the 222 substorms. We find that the average amount of solar wind input energy between two adjacent substorms is $1.28{\times}10^{14}J$ and about 85% out of the 222 substorms occur after an energy input of $2{\times}10^{13}{\sim}2.3{\times}10^{14}J$. Based on these results, we suggest that it is not practical to predict when a sub storm will occur after a previous one occurs purely based on the solar wind-magnetosphere energy coupling. We provide discussion on several possible factors that may affect determining substorm onset times during high-speed streams.
