Characteristics and improvement plans of the hull form of Korean fishing boats in connection with the performance of hull form resistance (선체저항 성능에 관련한 한국 어선선형의 특성과 개선방안)

  • 저항성능 측면에서 한국 어선선형의 특성을 파악하기 위하여, 본 연구에서는 한국과 일본에서 건조되어진 대표적인 어선을 한 척씩 선정하여 두 어선의 선형적 특성을 비교하였다. 또한 한국 어선의 선형적 특성들, 즉 일부 대표적인 선형요소들과 이를 제외한 기타의 국부적 선형특성들을 일본어선의 선형을 참고로 보정함으로써 우리나라 어선들의 저항성능을 향상시킬 수 있는 방안에 대하여 연구하였다. 한국어선과 일본어선은 해양환경과 어업의 종류가 다를 뿐만 아니라 관습적인 이유 등으로 선형의 차이가 있게 되며, 이것은 한국 어선이 일본 어선에 비하여 같은 배수량을 가지더라도 배 길이가 짧은 반면 폭이 넓으며 흘수가 얕은 대표적인 선형요소들의 차이로 확인할 수 있다. 이러한 차이를 고려하여, 일본어선들에 대한 유효마력 추정프로그램을 한국어선들에 맞게 보정.개발하는 과정을 통하여 양국 어선의 저항성능 차이를 확인할 수 있었으며, 보정된 프로그램을 이용하여 연구대상의 한국어선에 대한 저항저감효과를 줄 수 있는 선형요소들을 도출함으로써 선형요소들의 변화에 따른 저항성능 효과를 확인할 수 있었다. 그러나 선형요소들의 보정에도 불구하고 한국어선의 저항성능은 여전히 일본어선의 그것보다 떨어짐을 확인하여, 본 연구에서는 대표적인 선형요소들뿐만 아니라 국부적 선형특성 즉, 선수부에서 차인선(chine line) 경사도, 용골의 형상, 선미길이(용골 끝에서 선미단까지의 거리)를 각각 보정해 봄으로써 보다 더 큰 저항성능의 개선효과를 확인하였다. 본 연구결과는 앞으로 저항성능이 우수하면서도 실용 가능한 개량된 한국 어선선형의 개발에 기초적인 자료로서 활용이 가능할 것으로 사료된다.

  • In this paper, the noise equivalent cicuits that is necessary to the formulation of D.C. and noise characteristics, residual component and input capacitance so as to analyze on the noise factors of the SIT is proposed. The simplest noise equivalent circuit is the model representing the mechanism of the SIT and the measured values in this model were found as small as the values of the shot-noise. In the source resistance inserted equivalent circuit is conformed that the shot-noise will be reduced by the negative-feedback effect of the source resistance. In oder to analyze the correct noise reduction factor, I proposed the equivalent circuit which the formulas of the source and drain resistance was induced. In the experiment which affirm the equivalent circuits, the influence of the signal source resistance and output load resistance on the residual component is small and the residual component can be expressed by the equivalent input noise resistance. Moreover, the input capacitance is 13.6 pF when the load resistance is $0{\Omega}$ and the capacitance which does not concern with the SIT operation directly, that is, gate wire etc, is 10pF or so.

Simulation Study for Engine Friction Reduction through the Enhancement of Temperature Distribution along Cylinder Liner in a Heavy Duty Diesel Engine (대형 상용 디젤 엔진의 실린더 라이너 온도 분포 개선을 통한 엔진 마찰 저감 - 해석적 연구)

  • 대형 상용 엔진에서 발생하는 유효 도시 마력의 약 4~15%는 마찰 손실을 통해서 사라지며 마찰 손실 중 약 40~55%는 엔진 실린더와 피스톤 사이의 마찰에 의하여 발생하여, 엔진 전체에서 발생하는 마찰 손실 중 가장 많은 부분을 차지하고 있다. 이 연구에서는 엔진 실린더 라이너의 온도 분포 개선을 통해 라이너를 따라 유막을 형성하고 있는 윤활유의 적정 점성을 유지시키는 방법을 제시하고자 한다. 피스톤-라이너에서 발생하는 마찰 특성은 피스톤의 행정 위치에 따라서 접촉 마찰과 유막에 의한 마찰로 구분되며 이에 따라 요구되는 윤활유의 점성 특성 또한 달라진다. 먼저 해석 모델을 통하여 실린더 라이너 내부 온도 분포 특성을 확인한 후 피스톤 마찰 특성을 고려한 적정 온도 분포를 고찰하며 실린더 라이너에 열저항 코팅을 통해서 이를 구현하였다. 또한 실린더-피스톤 간의 마찰/윤활 해석을 통하여 열저항 코팅의 마찰 개선효과를 확인하였다.

Correlation Between the Composition of Compliant Coating Material and Drag Reduction Efficiency (유연벽면 점탄성 소재 배합비와 저항저감 효과의 상관관계)

  • A specially designed flat plate was mounted vertically over the axial line in the wind tunnel of the Pusan National University. Strain balances were mounted in the trailing part of the plate to measure the skin friction drag over removable insertions of $0.55{\times}0.25m^2$ size. A set of the insertions was designed and manufactured: 3 mm thick polished metal surface and three compliant surfaces. The compliant surfaces were manufactured of a silicone rubber Silastic$^{(R)}$ S2 (Dow Corning company). To modify the viscoelastic properties of the rubber, its composition was varied: 90% rubber + 10% catalyst (standard), 92.5% + 7.5% (weak), 85% + 15% (strong). Modulus of elasticity and the loss factor were measured accurately for these materials in the frequency range from 40 Hz to 3 kHz. The aging of the materials (variation of their properties) for the period of one year was documented as well. Along with the drag measurement using the strain balance, velocity and pressure were measured for different coating. The strong compliant coating achieved 5% drag reduction within a velocity range $20{\sim}40$ m/s while standard and weak coatings increased drag reduction.

Synthesis of FDR-SPC Resin and PIV Measurement for Frictional Drag-reduction (마찰저항 저감을 위한 고분자 수지 합성 및 PIV 유동장 계측)

  • In this study, a novel FDR-SPC is first synthesized in this study. The drag reducing functional radical such as PEGMA (Poly(ethylene) glycol methacrylate) has been utilized to participate in the synthesis process of the SPC. The types of the baseline SPC monomers, the molecular weight and the mole fraction of PEGMA were varied in the synthesis process. The resulting SPCs were coated to the substrate plates for the subsequent hydrodynamic test for skin friction measurement. In a low-Reynolds number flow measurement using PIV (Particle Image Velocimeter), a significant reduction in Reynolds stress was observed in a range of specimen, with the maximum drag reduction being 15.9% relative to the smooth surface.

Full Scale Frictional Resistance Reduction Effect of a Low Frictional Marine Anti-fouling Paint based on a Similarity Scaling Method (상사축척법에 기반한 저마찰 선박 방오도료의 실선 마찰저항 저감성능 추정)

  • In this study, a series of full-scale extrapolation procedures based on the Granville's similarity scaling method, which was employed by Schultz (2007), is modified and then applied to compare the resistance performance between two different anti-fouling coatings. As an analysis example, the low frictional AF coating based on a novel skin-friction reducing polymer named FDR-SPC (Frictional Drag Reduction Self-Polishing Copolymer), which had been invented by the present author, is employed. The low frictional coating, which gives 25.4% skin frictional reduction in lab test, is estimated to give 18.2% total resistance reduction for a 176k DWT bulk carrier.

  • An experimental assessment has been made of the drag reducing efficiency of the outer-layer vertical blades, which were first devised by Hutchins (2003). The drag reduction efficiency of the blades was reported to reach as much as 30%. The assessment of the drag reducing efficiency is mainly restricted to the downstream region of the blades. Indeed, sufficient care has not been taken to such adverse effects as the increase in the wetted surface area and the flow disturbances due to the presence of the blades. In the present study, a series of drag force measurements in towing tank and circulating water channel has been performed toward the assessments of the total drag reduction efficiency of the outer-layer vertical blades.

The drag reduction efficiency of the blades was reported to reach as much as 30%. However, the drag reduction efficiency was quantified only in terms of the reduction in the local skin-friction coefficient. In the present study, a series of drag force measurements in towing tank has been performed toward the assessments of the total drag reduction efficiency of the outer-layer vertical blades. A maximum 9.6% of reduction of total drag was achieved. The scale of blade geometry is found to be weakly correlated with outer variable of boundary layer. In addition, detailed flow field measurements have been performed using 2-D time resolved PIV with a view to enabling the identification of drag reduction mechanism.
