Composition and Physico-Chemical Properties of Vacuum Packaged Korean Pork Loins for Export during Cold Storage (수출용 진공포장 냉장 돈육 등심의 일반성분 및 물리화학적 품질변화)

  • The Korean fresh pork loins in vacuum packaged were obtained from three different Korean export companies and investigated for their proximate composition and physico-chemical characteristics. The fresh pork loins were stored at 2$^{\circ}C$ for 50 days and analyzed with an interval of 5∼10 days. In proximate analyses, the moisture contents of pork loins from the company I were higher, the protein contents from the company II were higher, and fat contents from the companies II and III were higher compared to those from the other companies. The pH of loins increased as storage period increased. The shear value of loins from company II showed significantly lower level and tended to decrease during storage. However, the water holding capacity and the purge loss of loins from company II increased during storage periods.

Effect of Dietary Xanthophylls Supplementation on the Antioxidant and Color Properties of Broiler Meat (Xanthophylls의 급여가 계육의 항산화와 육색에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the influence of dietary xanthophylls supplementation on the antioxidant and color properties of broiler meat. After raised for 6 weeks, broilers were slaughtered and stored at 3$^{\circ}C$ for 9 days. Experimental treatments were divided into lutein, canthaxanthin, astaxanthin and capsanthin. The supplementation level was adjusted to 30 ppm. The pH values of the thigh was higher(P<0.05) than those of the breast. No differences in pH values were shown among xanthophylls treatments. Xanthophylls supplementation to chick inhibited the formation of TBARS(Thiobarbituric acid reactive substance) and POV(lipid peroxide) of broiler meat during storage. At 9 day storage, the TBARS and POV of xanthophylls treatment decreased as compared to the control(P<0.05). The broiler meats fed astaxanthin had antioxidant effects in both breast and thigh. Dietary xanthophyll supplementation to chick decreased the CIE L(lightness) and increased a(redness) values of broiler meats fed canthaxanthin increased(P<0.05) during storage. These results indicated that broiler meats fed xanthophylls had dark-red color and antioxidant effect during refrigerated storage.

  • This paper studied and proposed a XML document storing-and-retrieval framework based on a variant k-ary complete tree and a RDF metadata, which is composed of an effective storing module to store xml documents, a retrieving module to retrieve xml documents, and a connecting module to make this system intemperate in the web environment. In this storing module, DTD independent DOM based decomposition model using a method of addressing unique ill using a variant k-ary complete tree is adopted and is implemented. Query Processing Module includes a XPath query process and a content based retrieval function using word index for content information. To retrieve more exactly data, a structural retrieval using RDF metadata is adopted and implemented. In order to implement effectively XML document storing and retrieval system in the web environment, API using XML-RPC, API using HTTP's GET, PUT, POST and API using SOAP have been adopted and implemented.

  • This paper is on intelligent decision system by safety distance of gas storage tank(IDSG). The safety distance fixed up by law is used to prevent from the injury by explosion of storage tank on the spot. However, it is not easy for a layman to decide a proper safety distance considering the size, shape and place of the storage tank. Therefore, this thesis shows the user-friendly intelligent decision system which a layman can decide the Bas related law, the size, shape and place of the storage tank by the intelligent decision, and it is to make assurance doubly sure for safety supervision on the spot. Also, the paper can make the data for the damage influence distance of overpressure by the explosion of the storage tank calculated by the scaling law of Hopkinson with the fixed distance by law, and safety range can be grasped with the graphic which is printed by the PHAST(Process Hazard Analysis Software Tool) model using this data.

The Effect of Freezing Rates on the Physico-Chemical Changes of Chicken Meat during Frozen Storage at -2$0^{\circ}C$ (동결속도에 따른 닭고기의 냉동 저장 중 이화학적 변화)

  • In order to select the optimum freezing condition for the minimization of physico -chemical changes such as protein denaturation, lipid oxidation and pH change, the effect of freezing rates on the poultry meat quality changes was studied during frozen storage at -20$^{\circ}C$. Results obtained from the experiments are as fellows. When chicken breast and leg meat were frozen at above -3cm/hr or the freezing rate, pH change during frozen storage was minimal Although TBA value and free ratty acids were increased during frozen storage, the effect of freezing rates was different depending on muscle types. In terms of protein extractability, the extractability of salt soluble protein and water soluble protein were the highest at above -3cm/hr of the freezing rate during frozen storage. This trend was more obvious with breast meat than leg meat. Considering the above - described results, above -3cm/hr of the freezing rate seemed to be the optimum freezing condition for chicken meat because or the least pH change, low TBA value and high protein extractability.

고체 수소를 이용한 군용 연료전지 차량

  • 미국 국방부 소속 육군차량사업부(National A Automotive Center)는 대체에너지를 이용한 군용 차량 개발을 위해 Michigan 주 Rochester Hills에 위치한 E Energy Conversion Devices(ECD) 사와 일부 기술 개발 에 대한 기술 제휴를 한다고 발표했다. 국방부는 태양전 지와 수소를 연료로 사용하는 대체에너지 차량을 개발하 기 위해 ECD에 1단계 연구에 필요한 연구비를 지원했다. 이번 연구에는 연료전지를사용한차량개발을위해 5 500,$\omega$0달러가 투자되는데, Texaco Ovollic Hydrogen S Systems(TOHC)의 고체 휴대용 수소 연료와 채충천 (refueling) 시스탬이 주요 개발 목표로 설정됐다. ECD의 역할은 최근 개발된 Toyota Prius에 시범 적으로 장착된 저압 고체형 수소 저장 시스템의 기술을 군용 차량에 알맞게 전환시키는 것이다. TOHC와 ECD가 개발한 고체형 수소 보관 시스댐은 고압을 요구하는 연료전지 차량의 수소 저 장 시스템이 갖고 있는 많은 문제점들을 해결할 수 있을 것으로 기대되는 연료전지를 이용한 엔진 개발 중 최신 기술이다. 특히 전투 상황에서 차량이 폭발하기 쉬운 수소 저장 탱크를 장착한 채 전 장으로간다는 것은적에게 노출 될 경우자살과마찬가지인 치명적인 피해를 입을수 있다. 이 프로젝트의 개요를 살펴보면, 수소 저장 시스템은 적어도 약 lOkg의 수소를 적은 용적 내에 낮은 압력에서 안전하게 고체 상태로 저장할 수 있다. 이 고체 저장 용기는 하루에 두 번 1.7kg의 수소를 10분 이내에 재급유할 수 있다. 수소는대부분고압가스형태나저온액체 형태로보관된다. 기체나액체 형태의 수소는 연료전 지에 사용되기에는 적합하지 않은 점이 많다. Ovonie 수소 저장 방법은 수소를 저압 고체 형태 ( (metal hydride)로 보관하는 방법으로, 고압 기체나 저온 액체가 갖고 있는 많은 문제점들을 해결 할수있다. 그림을 참조하면 고체 형태의 수소 보관 방법이 다른 보관 방법에 비교해 단위 체적당 최고 6배 많은수소질량을보관할수 있다. 이 고체 형태의 보관방법은수소가적절한합금과평형 압력 이 상의 환경에 놓일 경우 합금에 홉착되는 현상을 이용하고 있다. 수소를 흡수한 합금은 새로운 특성 을 가진 metal hydride로 변하게 된다. 이 과정 에서 열이 부산물로 발생한다. 반대로 수소를 metal hydride로부터 분리시키기 위해서는 합금을 가열해야 한다.

  • The practices of the construction and management of the petroleum and hazardous chemical compound storage facilities in Korea were investigated extensively, and the problems were identified. The advanced technologies in the U.S.A were comparatively studied. Considering the effectiveness of leak prevention and applicability, the following measures were suggested. To prevent corrosion of a tank, a clad tank, an interior lining tank, or a double-wall tank were thought to be the most cost effective. For piping. use of non-metalic materials was suggested. A catchment basin seemed to be effective for preventing spills. For monitoring of leaks, constructions of more than one of detection systems, such as an automatic leak detection device. a vapor detection system, a groundwater monitoring system, or a double-wall monitoring system, were recommended.

Hydrogen Storage Technology by Using Porous Carbon Materials (다공성 탄소계 재료를 이용한 수소저장 기술)

  • The technologies for improving the capacity of hydrogen storage were investigated and the recent data of hydrogen storage by using various porous carbon materials were summarized. As the media of hydrogen storage, activated carbon, carbon nanotube, expanded graphite and activated carbon fiber were mainly investigated. The hydrogen storage in the carbon materials increased with controlled pore size about 0.6~0.7 nm. In case of catalyst, transition metal and their metal oxide were mainly applied on the surface of carbon materials by doping. Activated carbon is relatively cheap because of its production on a large scale. Carbon nanotube has a space inside and outside of tube for hydrogen storage. In case of graphite, the distance between layers can be extended by intercalation of alkali metals providing the space for hydrogen adsorption. Activated carbon fiber has the high specific surface area and micro pore volume which are useful for hydrogen storage. Above consideration of research, porous carbon materials still can be one of the promising materials for reaching the DOE target of hydrogen storage.

The direct digital frequency synthesizer of QD-ROM reduction using the differential quantization (차동 양자화를 사용한 QD-ROM 압축 방식의 직접 디지털 주파수 합성기)

  • In this paper, a new method to reduce the size of ROM in the direct digital frequency synthesizer(DDFS) is proposed. The new ROM compression method can reduce the ROM size by using the two ROM. The quantized value of sine is stored by the quantized-ROM(Q-ROM) and the differential ROM(D-ROM). To reduce the ROM size, we use the differential quantization technique with this two ROM. First, we quantize the quarter sine wave with the $2^L$ address and store the quantized value at the Q-ROM. Second, after the $2^L$ address are equally divided into $2^M$ sampling intervals, the sampling value is quantized. And the D-ROM store only the difference between this quantized value and the Q-ROM. So the total size of the ROM in the proposed DDFS is significantly reduced compared to the original ROM. The ROM compression ratio of 67.5% is achieved by this method. Also, the power consumption is affected mostly by this ROM reduction.

Effect of Water Activity on the Physicochemical Properties of Sweet Potato Starch during Storage (저장 중 수분활성이 고구마 전분의 이화학적 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • Effect of water activity $(0.32{\sim}0.89)$ on the physicochemical properties of sweet potato starch during the storage for 5, 15 and 30 days at $40^{\circ}C$ was investigated. Shapes and sizes of starch granules were not changed. X-ray diffraction patterns of the starches appeared equally Ca-crystal structure. Sorption isotherm with storage day was sigmoidal. A slight loss of iodine affinity, increase in water binding capacity, and decrease in swelling power at $80^{\circ}C$ occurred as water activities increased. Viscosity pattern under Brabender Amylogram was not significantly changed with water activity, but initial pasting temperature decreased as water activity increased. The viscosity at $50^{\circ}C$, consistency and setback were increased with increasing storage day and water activity.
