  • The aim of this research is suggesting application method of the wasted rock obtained from the limestone quarry of raw material for cement as a coarse aggregate for high strength concrete after crushing and sieving processes. The wasted rock has been normally wasted because of its low quality as a material for cement production. In this research, the concrete using this wasted limestone coarse aggregate was evaluated the constructability based on the performances of workability, air content, and compressive strength. From the experiment, a favorable performance was achieved with a limestone coarse aggregate for high strength concrete comparing to the high strength concrete using granite coarse aggregate.

  • The strength and freeze-thaw test were carried out in order to use recycled aggregate as crushed aggregate in concrete. The recycled concrete had a lower flexture and compressive strengths than ordinary concrete, but the inclusion of fly ash shows similar results in both concretes. The resistance of freeze-thaw was strongly influenced by W/C ratio, content of recycled aggregate and fly ash, and it was also found that the resistance was higher when W/C ratio and fly ash content was lower. and was superior when replacement level of recycled aggregate reached to 80%.

  • This study focused on the investigation of durability of latex modified concrete in the points of chloride ion permeability and freeze-thaw resistance as latex content variated such as 5%, 10%, 15% and 20%. When latex was mixed in concrete and cured, the concrete consisted of hydrated cement and aggregate interconnected by a film of latex particles. An increasing the amount of latex produced concrete with increased flexural strength, but with slightly lower compressive strength. The increase in flexural strength might be attributed to the latex films between the hydrated cement and aggregates, and the decrease in compressive strength to the flexibility of the latex component named by Butadiene. The rapid chloride permeability test was used to evaluate the relative permeability of latex-modified concretes and conventional concretes. The results showed that the permeability of latex-modified concretes was considerably lower than conventional concretes tested, which might be due to the latex filled in voids and interconnections of hydrated cement and aggregates by a film of latex particles. The freeze-thaw resistance of LMC was quite good comparing to conventional concrete. Air entraining agent has been used in conventional concrete to improve the freeze/thaw resistance, but latex modified concrete does not need additional air entraining agent for freeze-thaw resistance provided adequate cure occurs.

  • Various types of coatings have been developed for use as reinforcement in concrete and to resist chloride environment. The most commonly used coatings are inhibited and sealed cement slurry coating, cement polymer compositing coating and epoxy coating. Cement slurry offers passive protection, epoxy coating offers barrier protection whereas polymer coating offers both passive protection and barrier protection. Moreover, damage during handling of the steel may result in disbondment of the epoxy coating, which would increase the risk of localized corrosion. In the present study, inhibiting technique was used to increase the calcium hydroxide content at the interface up to 20%. Calcium hydroxide provides a high buffering capacity that resists a local fall in pH and thus maintains the alkaline environment necessary to prevent chloride corrosion. This study examines the use of a calcium hydroxide coating on the steel surface to enhance the pH buffering capacity of steel-concrete interface. Finally, the chloride threshold level (CTL) of polymer inhibitive coating calcium hydroxide is evaluated.

  • The domestic research of the steel plate concrete structures have been focused on the nuclear structures requiring much strong resistance. There are many advantages in the steel plate-concrete structures such as the possibility of prefabricated production and modular construction. This research tried to establish some basic design information of SC structures toward mid to low-rise general buildings with low strength. To reduce the strength mentioned, the some of the cement in weight was replaced by the soils which are traditional and environmental oriented material where the new system can be used to general buildings. This paper studied on the compressive characteristics, effective length factors, buckling loading, steel plate buckling, and stud strength using the compression member subjected to the concentrated compression loadings.

  • The aim of this research is the feasibility analysis of the reject ash premixed cement mortar with combined aggregate. Namely, for the combined aggregate with two different qualities of aggregates, a fundamental properties of cement mortar was evaluated depending on various replacing ratios of reject ash(Ri). According to the experimental results, the combined aggregate consisted with low-quality aggregate and sea sand did not change the flow value depending on the reject ash while the combined aggregates consisted with low quality aggregate and sea sand; and consisted exploded debris sand and sea sand the increasing reject ash increased the air content with increased replacing ratio of reject ash. In the case of compressive strength, as the replacing ratio of reject ash was increased, the compressive strength was increased. It is considered that when 5% of reject ash replacing ratio made similar quality of cement mortar with favorable quality aggregate, hence, it can be suggested that 5% replacement of reject ash for desirable fluidity and compressive strength of concrete.

  • This study analyzed is to investigate the effect of the combined use of fly ash and coarse particle cement(RCC) collected in particle classification method during ordinary portland cement(OPC) on the fundamental properties of concrete. Totally 16 batches of the concrete was fabricated vary the contends of FA and RCC. As results of experiment, in the case of flow, the more the contents of RCC, the larger the flow. And the more the contents of FA displacement rate increased, the less the flow. As for simple adiabatic temperature rise due to the RCC and FA contents, it decreased with the increase of them. And particularly in the case of RCC 30% + FA 30%, temperature rise amount, was very low. Compressive strength decreased in proportion to increase of the contents of FA and RCC. And strength ratio of the concrete incorporating FA and RCC for plain concrete at 28 days was 88%${\sim}$98%, which was relatively good results.

  • In this study, several properties of mortars made with calcium aluminate cement (CAC) such as hydrated products, strength characteristics, absorption, surface electric resistivity and chloride ions penetration resistance were experimentally investigated. The properties of CAC mortars were compared to those of ordinary portland cement (OPC) mortars. From the test results, it was found that the main hydrated products for CAC mortars were of $C_2AH_8$ and $CAH_{10}$, while CH, ettringite and calcite for OPC mortars. The surface electric resistivity and chloride ions penetration resistance of CAC mortars were significantly beneficial compared to those of OPC mortars. However, it should be noted that the absorption properties of CAC mortars were negatively examined. Thus, it needs to have more study for the improvement of surface absorption of CAC matrices. In addition, the combined mixture of CAC and OPC were ineffective to improve some performances of mortars.

  • This study, having combined and displaced fly ash known as admixture material that delays hydration reaction with coarse particle cement("CC" hereinafter) collected in particle classification method during ordinary portland cement("OPC" hereinafter), reviewed the hydration heat characteristics affecting the concrete. To reduce hydration heat, the study plain-mixed which used 100% OPC for WB 50% level 1, displaced CC at level 3 of 25%, 50% and 75% for OPC, and by displacing FA with admixture material at level 5 of 0%, 10%, 20%, 30% and 40%, experimented totally 16 batches. As a result of experiment, in the case of flow, the more CC displacement rate increased, the more it tended to decrease, and the more FA displacement rate increased, the more it decreased. As for simple adiabatic temperature rise by the CC and FA displacement rates, it decreased as displacement rate increased, and particularly in the case of FA40, temperature rise amount, $5.8{\sim}7.4^{\circ}C$, was very low. Compressive strength decreased in proportion to displacement rate, however strength reduction increment was shown to decrease with age progress.

  • As a cold-weather-concrete construction technique for enhancing the sustainability and improving efficiency of cold-weather construction, the cracking timing, the starting point of deterioration for concrete, due to the shrinkage of the blast furnace slag cement concrete including accelerator was evaluated. As a result, by using blast furnace slag and accelerator, the cracking was developed faster with higher cracking potential under the restrained conditions at constant age and free-shrinkage strain. It can be considered that the results of decreased stress relaxation by creep or increased restraint with increased free-shrinkage strain causes the increased cracking development speed. Hence, it should be considered the necessary of cracking due to the shrinkage when blast furnace slag or accelerator was used for cold-weather construction.
