A study on the boundary layer behavior of an NACA 0012 airfoil at low Reynolds numbers was investigated in order to gain knowledge of a boundary layer that might be employed in a turbine blade and MAVs. A hot-wire anemometer was used to measure the boundary layer of an NACA 0012 airfoil at static angles of attack ${\alpha}$=$0^{\circ}$, $3^{\circ}$, and $6^{\circ}$, and Reynolds Numbers Re=$2.3{\times}10^4$, $3.3{\times}10^4$, and $4.8{\times}10^4$. The results of this study show that the laminar boundary layer on the airfoil surface is attached to the surface at ${\alpha}$=$0^{\circ}$, and the laminar separation of the boundary layer on the airfoil surface occurs at ${\alpha}$=$3^{\circ}$. Furthermore, the reattachment of the boundary layer in the present study occurs for the cases of Re=$3.3{\times}10^4$ and Re=$4.8{\times}10^4$at ${\alpha}$=$6^{\circ}$.
We reported here on 2 cases of aortic regurgitation (AR) that were due to avulsion of the aortic valve commissure. Aortic valvuloplasty was attempted in both cases. In the 1st case, valvuloplasty was performed with reattaching the commissure using the 5-0 polypropylene continuous suture technique. However, aortic regurgitation recurred and this lead to reoperation on the postoperative $14^{th}$ day. The intraoperative finding revealed a completely re-detached commissure that required mechanical valve replacement. In the second case, we attempted to reattach the commissure using pledgetted multiple transverse mattress sutures with 5-0 polypropylene. Because the leaflet coaptation was incomplete, the aortic valve was replaced with a tissue valve.

In modern society, a huge number of the buildings have been constructed with RC structure. RC structures have many structural instabilities due to earthquake, typhoon, construction fault, design phase errors. Therefore, many reinforcement methods are being implemented to solve this problem. In the reinforcement method, the organic epoxy adhesive used in the FRP reinforcing method is abruptly damaged when exposed to high temperature, which is directly connected to the fall of the reinforcing material. Therefore, the present study was conducted to develop inorganic refractory mortar with a certain level of adhesion ability to reduce the heat transferred to FRP reinforcement when exposed to high temperatures. As a result of the test, it showed high adhesion strength at room temperature condition with the inclusion of EVA resin, and showed no performance deterioration up to about $300^{\circ}C$ even under heating conditions. Also, it was confirmed that the backside temperature was lower as the thickness increased, and converged to a constant temperature of about $780^{\circ}C$ after 2 hours of heating.

A numerical study was made of heat transfer in locally-forced turbulent separated and reattaching flow over a backward-facing step. The local forcing was given to the flow by means of sinusoidally oscillating jet from a separation line. A Rhee and Sung version of the unsteady $\kappa$-$\varepsilon$-f(sub)u model and the diffusivity tensor heat transfer model were employed. The Reynolds number was fixed at Re(sub)H=33,000 and the forcing frequency was varied in the range 0$\leq$fH/U(sub)$\infty$$\leq$2. The condition of constant heat flux was imposed at the bottom wall. The predicted results were compared and validated with the experimental data of Chun and Sung and Vogel and Eaton. The enhancement of heat transfer in turbulent separated and reattaching flow by local forcing was evaluated and analyzed.

An unsteady numerical simulation was performed for locally-forced separated and reattaching flow over a backward-facing step. The local forcing was given to the separated and reattaching flow by means of a sinusoidally oscillating jet from a separation line. A version of the $k-{\varepsilon}-f_{\mu}$ model was employed, in which the near-wall behavior without reference to distance and the nonequilibrium effect in the recirculation region were incorporated. The Reynolds number based on the step height (H) was fixed at $Re_H=33000$, and the forcing frequency was varied in the range $0{\leq}St_H{\leq}2$. The predicted results were compared and validated with the experimental data of Chun and Sung. It was shown that the unsteady locally-forced separated and reattaching flows are predicted reasonably well with the $k-{\varepsilon}-f_{\mu}$ model. To characterize the large-scale vortex evolution due to the local forcing, numerical flow visualizations were carried out.

Hot-wire measurements of second and third-order mean products of velocity fluctuations have been made in the separated, reattached, and redeveloping boundary layer behind a vertical fence. Mean velocity, wall static pressure distributions have also been measured in the whole flow field. Upstream of the reattachment point, the separated shear layer developes as a free mixing layer, but the gradient of the maximum slope thickness, turbulent intensities and the Reynolds shear stress are higher than that of the mixing layer due to initial streamline curvature and the effects of highly turbulent recirculating flow region. In the reattachment region, Reynolds shear stress and triple products near the surface is far more rapid than the decrease of the shear stress; that is the presence of the solid wall has a marked effect on the apparent gradient diffusivity of intensity or shear stress and throws doubts upon the usefulness of the simple gradient diffusivity model in this region.

Cement-mixed polymer-based waterproofing materials are generally used in the form of application by mixing in the field, and it is necessary to supplement the construction ability for air bubbles and uneven coating thickness due to irregularities during construction. The final purpose of this study is to improve the waterproofing performance by adding a sheet attaching process to the composite construction rather than the single process of painting and applying the construction method when applying the polymer waterproofing material to the field. In this regard, the applicability was evaluated by examining the material, environment, and manufacturing method.
Recently, various strengthening methods using carbon fiber sheets (CFS) have been developed for the rehabilitation of structures and applied to the concrete member. However, still research need arises in order to verify the structural capacity of RC member which experienced bond loss between concrete and CFS after strengthening. This is because previous research has focused on the development of design process and evaluation of structural capacity only for retrofit. The appearance of this loss may be initiated at just after retrofit construction. And it will be more serious when the layer number of CFS increases. In order to minimize above mistake in retrofit design using CFS, more exact evaluation process to predict the bond loss of CFS is required. The objective of this research is to study the variation of flexural structural capacity of beam which has experienced bond loss after strengthening using CFS. Experimental and analytical study are performed and evaluation of the previous formula is conducted. Test result showed that the significant strength deterioration was not found until the bond loss of 20%. Overall structural behavior of the beams can be predicted by nonlinear sectional analysis.
New building methods are needed to aid increased inner-city redevelopment and industrial construction. A particular area of improvement is the efficient use of cut slopes, with the minimization of associated problems. A retaining wall of precast panels can resist the horizontal earth pressure by increasing the shear strength of the ground and reinforcing it through contact with the panels. Precast panels allow quick construction and avoid the problem of concrete deterioration. Other problems to be solved include the digging of borrow pits, the disposal of material cut from the slope, and degradation of the landscape caused by the exposed concrete retaining wall. This study suggest the methods of improvement of an existing precast panel wall system by changing the appearance of the panels to that of natural rock and improving the process of adhering the panel to a vertical slope. The panels were tested in the laboratory and in the field. The laboratory test verified their specific strength and behavior, and the field test assessed the panels' ground adherence at a vertical cutting. Reinforcement of the cutting slope was also measured and compared with the results of 3D numerical analysis. The results of laboratory test, identified that the shear bar increase the punching resistance of panel. And as a results of test construction, identified the construct ability and field applicability of the panel wall system adhered to in-situ ground. In addition to that, extended measurement and numerical analysis, identified the long-term stability of panel wall system adhered to in-situ ground.
