A Study on Galvanic Corrosion properties between differential Al Alloys (이종 알루미늄 합금 간 갈바닉 부식 특성에 관한 연구)

  • 금속재료 중 알루미늄(Al)은 일반적으로 많이 사용되는 철강재에 비해 그 비중이 약 $1/3(2.7g/cm^3)$인 경량이고 열전도율이 약 3배($196kcal/^{\circ}C$, $20^{\circ}C$)로 높은 특성 등을 갖고 있다. 또한 대량생산에 의한 경제성을 가지기 때문에 건축 구조재, 전기 및 가전 등 다양한 산업 분야에서 널리 사용되고 있다. 특히, 위와 같은 특성으로 인해 열교환기의 종류에서 응축기(Condenser) 및 증발기(Evaporator)는 알루미늄(Al)을 널리 사용하고 있다. 하지만 단일 응축기 부품에도 이종 알루미늄 소재가 사용됨에 따라 갈바닉 부식이 발생할 수 있다는 단점이 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 현재 상용되고 있는 열교환기 중 응축기에서의 이종 알루미늄 재료로 인해 나타나는 갈바닉 부식 특성을 관찰-분석-연구 하였다. 본 연구에 사용된 알루미늄 재료는 현재 응축기 재료 중에서 각각 Tube와 Fin으로 널리 상용되고 있는 Al 1100과 Al 3003을 사용하였다. 표면 모폴로지는 SEM을 통해 관찰하였고 EDS를 통해 조성원소를 분석하였다. 또한 내식성 평가를 위해 5% NaCl 환경에서의 SST(Salt spray test, 염수분무시험) 시험과 3% NaCl 용액 내 자연침지 시험 및 탈기된 3% NaCl 용액 내 전기화학적 동전위 양극 분극 시험을 진행하였으며 더불어 갈바닉 부식 시험에 따른 혼합 전위 측정 및 외관 관찰을 하였다. 각 재료는 실험에 대해 동일한 표면적을 노출시켜 시험하였다. 5% NaCl 환경에서의 염수분무 시험 결과 Fin(Al 3003)의 경우에는 Tube(Al 1100) 보다 빠른 부식거동을 보이며 국부적인 공식부식(Pitting corrosion)이 촉진되었다. Tube(Al 1100)의 경우에는 치밀한 Al2O3 형성과 부식에 따른 Al(OH)3를 생성함에 따라 Fin(Al 3003)에 비해 느린 부식거동을 보였다. 3% NaCl 용액 내 자연 침지 및 전위 측정 결과 초기 전위는 Fin(Al 3003, 약 -0.85V/SCE)이 Tube(Al 1100, 약 -1.05V/SCE)에 비해 더 높은 값을 가지며 약 72시간 이후 Tube(Al 1100) 시편이 더 안정적인 전위 값을 나타냈다. 이는 안정적인 Al(OH)3 피막 형성에 기인한 것으로 사료된다. 탈기된 3% NaCl 용액 내 전기화학적 동전위 양극 분극 시험 결과 Fin(Al 3003) 시편에서 더 귀한 부식 전위 값을 나타냈지만 부식 전류는 더 낮은 값을 나타냈다. 상기 시험 결과를 바탕으로 Fin-Tube 간 장기간 접촉 시에는 갈바닉 부식이 발생할 수 있을 것으로 사료된다. 갈바닉 부식 시험 결과 초기 혼합 전위는 약 -1.05 V/SCE를 나타냈으며 약 288시간 경과 후 약 -0.85 V/SCE 값을 나타냈다. 이는 자연 전위 측정 및 동전위 양극 분극 시험에서의 부식 전위 값에서 알 수 있듯이 더 비한 전위인 Tube(Al 1100) 시편이 Fin(Al 3003) 시편에 대해 희생양극적(Sacrificial anode)인 역할을 한 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 갈바닉 부식 전위 측정 간 외관 관찰에서도 Tube(Al 1100) 시편은 빠르게 흑변 하는 것을 확인할 수 있었으며 Fin(Al 3003) 시편은 침지 300시간 이후에도 초기와 유사한 표면 상태 및 광택을 유지하였다. 이상의 SST 시험, 자연 침지 시험, 전기화학적 양극 분극 시험 및 갈바닉 부식 시험 결과를 바탕으로 단일 부품 내 이종 알루미늄 소재 간 접촉 및 그에 따른 갈바닉 부식 발생을 확인할 수 있었다. 따라서 동종 성분이라고 할지라도 단일 부품 제작 시에는 그 사용 환경에 따라 이종 금속 재료의 사용에 대한 재고가 필요할 것으로 사료된다.

Characterization of In-plane Shear Behaviors of Woven Fabrics by Bias-extension and Trellis-frame Tests (편향 인장 및 트렐리스 시험에 의한 직물 복합재료의 면내 전단 물성 평가)

  • Three types of glass woven fabrics (plain, balanced twill, and unbalanced twill) having various sample sizes and aspect ratios were tested using the bias-extension tests. Real-time deformation images, force, and displacement data were collected. For the bias-extension test, the shear angle of the fabrics from the equation based on the crosshead displacement and fabric size was compared with direct manual measurements of the warp and weft angles as well as the optical measurement software. To determine the shear force, an analytical equation was introduced considering the kinematics of the bias-extension test. The obtained shear behaviors were further compared with the results by the trellis-frame test. The optical measurement methods showed that the mathematical method was reasonable before the shear angle of the fabrics reaches $30^{\circ}$ in the bias-extension tests. Also, the bias-extension test gave consistent behaviors with the trellis-frame test only for isotropic and homogeneous fabrics such as balanced plain and twill weaves.

Engineering Characteristics of Crushed Rockfill Material

  • To investigate the engineering characteristics of crushed rockfill material, the large-scaled triaxial tests have been carried out, The rpckfill is made from the greywacke, and the 3 parallel gradations with different maximum particle size(dmu=38.1mm, 25.4mm and 19.1mm) were designed for the test. The dimension of the specimen is 300mm in diameter and 600mm in height, and the applied confining stress varied from 5t/$51.6^{\circ}$ to 60t/$51.6^{\circ}$. The test results show that the influence of the maximum particle size on the stress -strain r$51.6^{\circ}\; to\; 40.5^{\circ}$ when the confining stress increases from 5t/$51.6^{\circ}$ to 60t/$51.6^{\circ}$ The hyperbolic parameter values estimated from the test result for rockfill are much different from the recommended values by Duncan et. at(1980) for GW and GP material, especially in the $\phi$ ad K-values.

  • The shotcrete is a NATM technique as a major tunnel support for ground stability after tunnel excavation. Instead of a general concrete lining method, it is a trend for curtail of construction periods and reduction of construction expenses that required to use of the permanent shotcrete lining. This high-strength shotcrete is required to use as a permanent shotcrete lining. This brought out the solution of environmental pollution and harmfulness to human. Accordingly, in this study specimens for strength measurement were made to develop shotcrete possible to develop materials in early with cement mineral accelerator as NATM method construction. It was compared with existing shotcrete material, unconfined compression test, flexural strength test, antiwashout underwater test were experimented. The fish poison test was experimented to evaluate an influence of environment. As a results of the test, unconfined compressive strength and flexural strength were equivalent with 28-curing day strength of existing material. An antiwashout of research subject material was revealed excellently in antiwashout Underwater test. As a results of the fish poison, an evaluation research subject material was founded more environmentally friendly than existing shotcrete.

A Study on the Application of Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastics to PTO Shafts for Aircrafts (탄소섬유 강화 복합재료의 항공기용 PTO 샤프트 적용에 관한 연구)

  • This paper aims to improve the critical speed of power-take-off (PTO) shafts by using carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRPs). The PTO shaft was designed with titanium-CFRPs hybrid structure in order to compensate the low shear strength of CFRPs. Based on the requirements for PTO shafts, the dimensions of PTO shafts were determined through a parametric study. To evaluate the performance of the PTO shaft, a vibration test, a static torsion test, and a torsion durability test were performed. In the vibration test, the critical speed of PTO shafts was 20570 rpm, which was 7.5% higher than that of titanium shafts. Additionally, it was confirmed that the maximum allowable torque of the PTO shaft was 2300 N·m. Finally, under repeated load in the range of 11.3 to 113 N·m, the fatigue failure in the PTO shaft did not occur up to 106 cycles.

Characteristic of Shear Behavior of Coarse Grained Materials Based on Large Scale Direct Shear Test (II) (대형직접전단시험을 이용한 조립재료의 전단거동 특성 (II))

  • In this paper, the effect of variation of density and uniformity coefficient on shear strength was analyzed from the results of large scale shear test. In addition, the friction coefficient at critical state per vertical load was estimated using the equation proposed by Wood (1998). The test sample fur the test was obtained from the local quarry sites. Tests results show that the shear strength of $2.10g/cm^3$ is relatively larger than that of $1.85g/cm^3$ and uniformity coefficient (5.0) has larger shear strength than that in 10.0. In the meantime, the friction coefficient at critical state shows $1.0{\sim}1.6$ according to the test conditions.

  • Coarse granular materials such as gravel, rubble is used as major fill materials in earth structures of railway, road and dam. Therefore, it is essential to accurately evaluate properties of these materials for reasonable design and construction. In the precedent study, we built large triaxial testing system and verified system compliance with a focus on the dynamic properties. And we could secured the reliability of the system. In this study, the cyclic triaxial tests were performed in various experimental conditions on coarse granular material. Two series of parallel graded samples are prepared by mixing crushed rock. The influence of grain size, loading pattern, loading frequency, and fine contents were analyzed and discussed.

  • 고속철도는 한번에 1천명에 달하는 승객을 태우고 시속 300km를 넘는 고속으로 주행하는 만큼 성능과 안전에 대한 철저한 사전 검증이 필수적이며, 특히 새로운 차량시스템의 개발은 철저한 성능검증 및 안전성을 확보하는 시험평가 과정을 반드시 거쳐야 한다. 본 논문에서는 최고속도 350km/h인 한국형 고속철도 차량시스템 개발사양의 성능요구 조건을 입증하기 위한 시험으로서, 핵심 개발품 단위별 구성품 시험, 개발품 단위간의 조합시험, 차량에서의 기능 동작 확인을 위한 완성차시험(단차시험 및 편성시험)및 전기신호 및 선로구축물 시스템과의 적합성 및 연계성을 확인하는 시운전 시험으로 구분하여 한국형 고속철도 차량시스템의 성능시험 체계 및 성능시험 기준(안)의 개발 내용을 소개하고자 한다.

  • Miniaturized specimen technology Permits mechanical behavior to be determined using a minimum volume of material. The technology is useful in case of not collecting a large amount of materials from industrial equipments. Five kinds of accelerated degradation materials were prepared by isothermal aging heat treatment at $630^{\circ}C$. Three kinds of specimens were prepared for impact testing. In order to increase plastic constraint of subsize specimen, side-groove was introduced. Results between subsize and full size impact testing were compared. Size effects correlations were developed for the impact properties of turbine rotor material. These correlations successfully predict the ductile brittle transition temperature (DBTT) of full size Charpy impact specimens based on subsize specimen data.

  • Ultrasonic signals from Charpy impact test specimen have been analyzed in order to evaluate the integrity of reactor pressure vessel. Base and weld metal that were extracted from reactor vessel doting plant outages according to the schedule of the surveillance test required by the related regulations have been used and the ultrasonic test parameters including velocity, attenuation, etc. showed a close correlations with the amount of neutron irradiation for base metal, relatively homogeneous materials. This result showed certain possibility where a nondestructive method could be used to predict the fluence of the Irradiation due to neutron in nuclear reactor vessel materials.
