Impact of Sales Franchisor's Relationship-oriented Efforts on Relationship Quality and Recontract Intentions: From the Franchisee Perspective (판매 프랜차이즈 가맹본부의 관계지향적 노력이 가맹점의 관계품질과 재계약의도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study is to examine the impact of sales franchisor's relationship-oriented efforts(flexibility, problem solving support, customization, information exchange, and supervisor characteristics) on relationship quality(satisfaction, trust, and commitment) and recontract intentions. In order to analyze proposed model, this study collected the 233 franchisees with owner or hired manager. The data were analyzed with SPSS/PC 18.0 and AMOS 18.0. First, to test unidimensionality and nomological validity of the measures of each construct we employed a scale refinement procedure. The result of reliability test with confirmatory factor analysis warranted unidimensionality of the measures for each construct. The findings are as follows: First, relationship-oriented efforts had positive effects on relationship quality (satisfaction, trust, and commitment) of franchisee. Second, satisfaction had positive effect on trust, but did not on recontract intentions. Third, trust had positive effects on commitment and recontract intentions, respectively. Finally, commitment had a positive effect on recontract intentions. At the end of this paper, managerial implications and limitations and future research directions were suggested.

An Empirical Study on the Determinants of Customer Renewal Behavior for Tire Rental Servitization (제조기업의 서비스화 제공 형태와 고객 특성이 재계약에 미치는 요인에 관한 실증 연구: 타이어 렌탈 중심으로)

  • Servitization presents an innovative model to create business value in the automotive industries. This study set out to introduce a servitization model based on the rental business of the tire industry and identify determinants to affect the renewal of contracts around the service types of servitization and the characteristics of customers. Independent variables include the service types, demographics and regions, and inflow channels in 163,742 contracts by case companies in the nation in 2016~2019 with the renewal of contracts as a dependent variable. Correlations between variables were analyzed through cross-tabulation and binary logistic regression analysis. The findings show that the contract renewal rate had positive(+) relations with customized service and negative(-) ones with vehicle maintenance service. There were differences in the contract renewal rate according to such customer characteristics as gender and region, but no clear correlations were found in the age group and vehicle type(domestic/foreign). Of the inflow channels, offline channels tended to have a higher renewal rate than online channels. At open malls, contract renewal increased by 8.4 times due to contract switches at offline channels. Based on these findings, the study discussed directions for practical strategies with regard to the development of new service, implementation of customer-centric servitization, and management of sales channels according to the servitization of manufacturers.

  • This paper aims to investigate the moderating effects of relationship quality between support services of food service franchisor and performance(re-contract intention) in food service franchise. For analyzing the relationship of them, the support services of food service franchisor categorized with initial service and continuous service. Also, the factors of relationship quality(satisfaction, trust, commitment) classified into detailed subfactor by confirmatory factor analysis. As a result, we found some statistically significant effects between the support services of food service franchisor and factors of relationship quality, and they sequentially affects to re-contract intention. Also, it's analyzed that factors of relationship quality have a role as a moderating variables by research model. That is, as a presented with previous research, there is verified that relationship quality is caused by support services of food service franchisor. Also, relationship quality factors significantly affect to performance(re-contract intention). Some guidelines for practicing potential food service franchise as a result of this would include; first of all, it is important to support the potential food service franchise consulting approach for some competitive advantage; secondly, effective governmental support programs for food service franchise should be developed for positive impacts of according to these results.

  • While the scale of the consulting market growth in quantity quality, the consultant capacity is becoming important in the digital industry. The preceding elements of trust formation to the consultant capacity divided into ability, integrity, and benevolence of consultant. Also, the consultant capacity is to find out what effect the overall trust and customer satisfaction and re-contract. The results of the analysis, consultant capacity have positive(+) effects for the formation of the trust in the practice of consulting project, and consulting service trust has positive(+) effect in the relationship between customer satisfaction and re-contract. In addition, consulting service trust in consultant capacity appeared to has positive(+) mediating effects in the relationship between customer satisfaction and re-contract intend.

The Impact of Environmental Factors on Conflict and Contract Intention in Chinese Franchise (중식 프랜차이즈의 환경요인이 갈등과 재계약의도에 미치는 영향)

  • This study examined to verify the influence of environmental factors on conflict and contract intention as perceived by Chinese franchise restaurants, Conflict and Contract Intention. A total of 210 questionnaires were distributed to the consumers and 200 were deemed suitable for analysis after the removal of 10 unusable responses. SPSS 18.0 Statistical Program was employed for frequency analysis, factor analysis, and reliability analysis, correlations, and regression analysis. The results of exploratory factor analysis showed that three factors regarding Chinese franchise environmental factors were extracted from all measurements with KMO of 0.783, and total cumulative variance of 68.853%. In addition, three factors were extracted for regarding conflict with 61.313% of total cumulative variance and 0.763 KMO score. Contract intention was extracted that accounted for total cumulative variance of 63.453% and KMO score of 0.763. All factors were significantly correlated among the variables (p<0.001). Based on the results, thus, the main research hypothesis identifies the relationships among environmental factors, conflict, contract intention. These results can contribute to consider the importance of environmental elements for reducing the conflict and improving the contract intention in context of franchise chinese restaurant.

  • The study demonstrably begins with the franchise system that found management of member store for office, the satisfaction that the relation between main office and member store and the difference with renewal of the contract. According to the result of the study that analyzed the difference in the rate of satisfaction that depended on individual peculiarities, the study found the statistical difference in a part of a category of business, a school career, a business career, a floor area, a selling level and presence of experience. The floor area and the selling level are distributed into 3 groups and the category of business, the school career, the business career and presence of experience are distributed into 2 groups. In addition, the result that analyzed the difference in the rate of satisfaction that depended on the motive found that improvements were distributed into 2 groups and there was the difference between the rate of satisfaction that depended on renewal of the contract intent.

  • This study investigates the effects of franchisors' characteristics including brand reputation, training and product related support, franchisees' characteristics including store location and management on the performance and recontract intention of franchisees in bakery franchise industry. Also, this study examine the moderating effect of CEO experience of franchisees among the franchisors' and franchisees' characteristics, and performance. To empirically test these relationships, data were collected from 386 respondents who are franchisees in the bakery franchise sector. In the verification of hypotheses, the structure equation modeling(SEM) is used. The results of this study are as follows. First, franchisors' brand reputation, training support, and franchisees' locational factor have significant effects on the financial performance of franchisees positively. However, franchisors' product related support and franchisees' management of the store have not significant effects on the performance. Second, the performance of franchisees has positive effect on the recontract intention. Third, the moderating effect of CEO experience is only significant in the relationship between franchisors' training support and the performance. Based on the findings, this study suggest the importance of building a good brand image and superior training system for franchisors to improve mutual ongoing growth. Also, franchisors should determine whether nascent franchisee entrepreneurs have CEO experiences to further improve performance. If they do not have related experiences, both opening and ongoing training supports of franchisors and the efforts of franchisees towards learning are required. Finally, this study suggest that both franchisors and franchisees should accurately analyze the conditions of possible locations and establish strategies to select beneficial location before starting a franchise business.

  • DRM 환경 하에서 저작권자, 유통업자 사이에 존재하는 다양한 계약에 따른 권리관리정보가 콘텐트에 부착되어 유통된다. 콘텐트 유통업체는 해당 콘텐트를 다른 유통업체에게 재계약을 통하여 공급할 수 있으며, 이때 재계약되는 권리관리정보가 기존에 부착된 권리관리정보와 충돌이 발생할 수 있는 것이다. 본 연구에서는 콘텐트에 부착되는 권리관리정보 집합을 도출하고, 권리관리정보 사이에 발생하는 충돌 사항을 자동으로 체크할 수 있는 시스템에 대한 모델을 제시하였다.

  • 본 연구는 감리품질에 따른 감리성과와 프로젝트성과에의 영향으로 감리의뢰기관이 해당 감리기관에 재구매의도 또는 재계약의도에 대한 영향을 조사하였다. 연구결과, 설정된 연구모형을 중심으로 전반적인 분석을 수행하였으며, 경로분석 결과 모든 영향관계가 유의한 것으로 나타났다. 감리품질이 프로젝트성과와 감리효과 및 만족도에 정의 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타나 프로젝트성과와 감리 효과 및 만족도를 향상시키기 위해서는 감리품질뿐만 아니라 감리품질에 영향을 미치는 감리서비스요인에 대해 판단할 필요가 있으며, 감리효과와 만족도가 높으면 재구매에 정의 영향을 미치고, 프로젝트 성과가 높으면 재구매에 정의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

The Effect of Supporting Activities for Win-win Partnership Between Franchisees and Franchisers on Re-contract Intention and Management Performance through Dynamic Trust (프랜차이즈 가맹본부와 가맹사업자간 상생을 위한 지원활동이 동적신뢰를 통해 경영성과 및 재계약의도에 미치는 영향)

  • The aim of this study is to investigate the correlation between the support activities provided by the franchiser and how they affect the intention of the contract renewal and business performances made by franchisees, developing dynamic trust between these transactional partners. Various supportive activities between franchiser and franchisees were divided into financial and non-financial activities and dynamic trust into Transitional-based trust, Calculative-based trust, Relational-based trust, and Balanced-based trust. These trust types, which are variable and adjustable based on the opportunistic behaviors of business parties, were applied to define the impact of the support activities on the contract renewal intention and the performances. This study was developed around domestic franchisees. An investigator visited business owners and manager level-employees, explained the purpose of the survey prior to the response, and the answers were directly written by hands. A total of 348 copies were used for the analysis. As the results of the analysis, first, financial support activities were found to have a positive(+) effect on transitional-based trust, calculative-based trust, and balanced-based trust. On the other hand, non-financial support activities were found to have a positive(+) effect on calculative-based trust, relational-based trust, and balanced-based trust, and there was no significant relationship on transitional-based trust. Second, the dynamic trust had a statistically significant positive(+) effect on inducing the contract renewal. Lastly, in the relationship between the dynamic trust and its impact on business performances, only transitional-based trust, and relational-based trust were found to have a positive(+) effect on the financial performances. In addition, relational-based trust showed a meaningful positive(+) relationship on the non-financial performances, and non-financial performace showed a meaningful positive(+) relationship on the re-contract intention. From the results, it can be concluded that the financial and non-financial activities for a win-win partnership between franchiser and franchisees are essential in not only forming dynamic trust but also boosting business performances as well as maintaining the business relationship. Thus, it suggests that building a win-win partnership can be promoted more efficiently by specifying activities best suitable for a particular relationship. In addition, a specific set of activities could be presented for establishing the level of trust that is formed in situations that vary depending on transaction risks and interdependency arising from having the transactional relationship based on the contract as the franchise industry features. Eventually, it is expected that this study can provide a way to promote the qualitative improvement of the franchise industry by identifying factors essential to establishing a sustainable win-win system and relationships that can improve the business performance of franchisees.
