Development of Tribo-electrostatic Separation Technique for Scale-up Process of Heavy Group Plastic Tailings (고비중(高比重) 종말품(終末品) 폐(廢)플라스틱 대량처리(大量處理)를 위한 마찰하전(摩擦荷電) 정전선별(靜電選別) 기술개발(技術開發))

  • In this research, we studied the scale-up triboelectrostatic process for separation of PVC from higher gravity fraction of plastic wastes produced from wet gravity separation process. High density polyethylene (HDPE) was found to be the most effective materials for a tribo-charger in the separation of plastic tailings. In a commercial scale triboelelctrostatic separator unit, using the HDPE pipe-line charger, a grade of 99.1% with PET, PS and others and a recovery of 86% was obtained under optimum conditions at over 250 kV/m electric field, a splitter position of -8 cm from the center, and less than 40% relative humidity. The developed unit can process the plastic wastes at a 300 kg/h, and the product can be utilized as RPF or RDF of over grade 2.

  • 국내의 하수도 보급률은 90%에 달하고 있으며, 하수의 고도처리와 처리기술이 향상된 신기술개발 등으로 수질개선 효과가 크게 개선되어 있고, 전국 각지에 활발하게 하수처리장의 건설이 추진 중에 있지만, 다양한 오염원의 증가와 함께 환경기준은 점차적으로 강화되고 있어 기존 하수처리장은 강화되고 있는 환경기준을 만족시키기 어려운 실정으로 새로운 처리법의 도입이 절실히 요구되고 있는 실정이다. 시설이 노후화된 하수종말처리장의 경우에는 경제적인 부담감을 이유로 기존 공법 개선을 통한 수질기준을 만족하기 위하여 노력하고 있으며, 특히, 방류수 수질 중에서 총질소(T-N)와 총인(T-P)의 기준을 평상시와 겨울철(12월 1일부터 3월 31일까지)로 구분하여 적용하여 왔지만, 2012년부터는 이를 동일하게 적용함으로써 겨울철 생물학적 처리 공정에서의 효율저하로 인한 기준치 만족이 어려운 상황이다. 본 연구에서는 인천의 하수처리장을 대상으로 동절기 수온의 저하에 따른 생물학적 공정을 개선시키기 위하여 운전조건을 변경하여 수질개선 증대 방안을 도출하고자 하였으며, 생물학적 공정인 MLE공법으로 동절기 외부 온도의 영향을 받는 조건을 갖는 사업소를 대상으로 실내 실험장치를 구성하여 조건을 변화하면서 개선 효과를 검토하였다. 생물반응조의 공정위치 변화, 미생물농도 그리고 체류시간변화 등의 실험조건으로 하수 처리 효율을 분석하였으며, 운전 중 외부반송 유량, 내부반송 유량 등의 운전인자는 일정하게 유지하였고, 동절기 온도인 $10^{\circ}C$로 유지하여 실험을 진행하였다. 실험 결과 대상 하수처리장의 생물학적 공정의 개선방향은 공정 배열을 변화하였을 때, 현재의 공정 배열 조건인 무산소조 1개, 호기조 4개의 공정보다 호기조 1개, 무산소조 1개, 호기조 3개로 수정하는 경우 현재 공정보다 질소는 7%, 유기물은 9.2% 처리효율이 개선되는 것으로 분석되었다. 미생물 농도 변화를 주어 수질 개선 효과를 검토한 결과 하수처리장 설계농도인 3,500ppm의 경우보다 미생물 농도를 5,970ppm으로 증가시킨 경우 17.4% 처리효율의 개선효과를 보여 질소 제거를 위해 미생물의 농도를 증가시키는 것이 바람직한 것으로 판단하였다. 또한, 체류시간(HRT)을 변화한 경우에는 현재 체류시간(HRT)인 8시간 보다 10시간으로 증가시켰을 경우 유기물은 3.2%, 질소는 2.6%의 처리효율이 개선되는 것으로 분석되었다.

X-ray Radiography에 적합한 Double Multilayer Monochromaotr (DMM) 설계와 제작

  • DMM은 방사광가속기의 백색광으로부터 단색광을 추출하기 위해 두 개의 다층 박막 (multilayer) 거울을 사용하는데, 첫 번째 거울은 Bragg 반사를 통해 분광을 하여 단색광을 생산하는 용도이고, 두 번째 거울은 이 단색광을 반사시켜 지면과 평행하게 출사되게 하기 위함이다. 일반적으로 사용되는 DCM (Double Crystal Monochromator)과의 차이점은, Bragg 반사를 위해 DCM에서는 결정을 사용하는 반면 DMM은 밀도차이가 많이나는 두 종류의 물질을 교대로 쌓아 올린 다층 박막을 사용한다는 것이다. 다층 박막의 주기가 곧 Bragg 반사에서의 d-spacing이 되며, X-선 분광의 목적으로 사용되는 d-spacing은 10-50 $\AA$ 사이이다. DCM이 0.01% 대의 우수한 에너지 분해능을 보이는데 비해, DMM은 1% 정도이다. 이 때문에 출사광의 밝기가 DCM에 비해 100배 밝은 특징이 있어서 에너지 분해능보다 광량이 더 중요한 응용에서 DMM이 사용된다. X-선 영상이나 방사선치료가 바로 이러한 응용에 해당한다. DMM은 포항가속기연구소와 (주) 벡트론에서 공동 설계하였으며, (주)벡트론에서 제작하였다. 그림 1에 DMM의 외형과 내부 구조를 나타내었다. Bragg 각의 조절 범위는 0.24-0.9도 이다. 입사광과 출사광의 수직 방향 offset을 10 mm로 유지하기 위해 두 번째 다층 박막이 수평방향으로 1,000 mm 가량 이동할 수 있어야 한다. 이를 위해 두 대의 고니오미터 stage를 사용하여 각각 첫 번째 및 두 번째 다층 박막의 위치와 방향을 제어한다. 첫 번째 다층 박막을 제어하는 고니오미터 stage는 하부가 전체 프레임에 고정되어 있고, 이 고니오미터의 회전축에서 Bragg 각을 조절한다. 두 번째 다층 박막을 제어하는 고니오미터 stage는 높이방향과 수평방향으로 이동이 가능하다. 다층 박막의 pitch는 고니오미터의 회전축에서 조절한다. 그리고 tilt stage를 사용하여 다층 박막의 roll을 조절한다.

An Experimental Study on the Evaluaiton of Elastic-Plastic Fracture Toughness under Mixed Mode I-II-III Loading Using the Optical PSD (PSD를 이용한 혼합모드 하중하에서 탄소성 파괴인성평가에 관한 실험적인 연구)

  • In this paper, as elastic-plastic fracture toughness test under mixed mode loading was proposed using a single edge-cracked specimen subjected to bending moment(M), shearing force(F), and twisting moment(T). The J-integral of a crack in the specimen is expressed in the form J=$J_I$+ $J_II$$J_III$, where $J_I$, $J_II$ and $J_III$ are the components of mode I, mode II and mode III deformation, respectively. $J_I$, $J_II$ and $J_III$ can be estimated from M-$\theta$ ($\theta$;crack opening angle), F-U(U; crack shear displacement) and T-$\alpha$ ($\alpha$;crack twisting angle). In order to obtain the the M<-TEX>$\theta$, F-U and T-$\alpha$ diagram inreal time, a new deformaiton gage for mixed mode loading was proposed using the optical position sensing device(PSD). The elastic-plastic fracture toughness test was carried out with an aluminum alloy. The loading apparatus was designed and manufactured for this experiment. For the loading condition of the crack initatio in the mixed mode, the MMT -3(mode I+ mode II+ mode III) has the lowest values out of the all specimens. This implies that MMT-3 is possible of the crackinitation at lower load, if the specimen acts on together with the torque under the same loading condition. An elastic-plastic fracture toughness test using the PSD brings a successful experimentation in measuring the crack deformation(mode I+ mode II+ mode III).

The Modified Block Matching Algorithm for a Hand Tracking of an HCI system (HCI 시스템의 손 추적을 위한 수정 블록 정합 알고리즘)

  • A GUI (graphical user interface) has been a dominant platform for HCI (human computer interaction). A GUI - based interaction has made computers simpler and easier to use. The GUI - based interaction, however, does not easily support the range of interaction necessary to meet users' needs that are natural. intuitive, and adaptive. In this paper, the modified BMA (block matching algorithm) is proposed to track a hand in a sequence of an image and to recognize it in each video frame in order to replace a mouse with a pointing device for a virtual reality. The HCI system with 30 frames per second is realized in this paper. The modified BMA is proposed to estimate a position of the hand and segmentation with an orientation of motion and a color distribution of the hand region for real - time processing. The experimental result shows that the modified BMA with the YCbCr (luminance Y, component blue, component red) color coordinate guarantees the real - time processing and the recognition rate. The hand tracking by the modified BMA can be applied to a virtual reclity or a game or an HCI system for the disable.

Distribution of Ultraviolet Intensity and UV Leaking of Commercial UV Sterilizers Used in Restaurants (음식점에서 사용하는 자외선 살균소독기 내 자외선 강도 분포 및 자외선 누출)

  • Ultraviolet sterilizers (UVS) are widely used in restaurants, cafeterias and catering businesses in Korea. The proper application of UVS, however, is still questionable since no studies have clearly identified their efficacy and safety, while regulations and regulatory management systems are yet to be established. In the present study, the efficacy of UVS were investigated by measuring spatial UV intensity inside five commercially operated UVS. The operating safety parameters were also checked by measuring leaked UV intensity. The UV intensities were inversely proportional to distance from the UV lamp within 25 cm, and to the square of the distance exceeding 25 cm. The UV intensities in commercial UVS varied with the distance from UV lamp and the incident angle, highlighting efficacy and stability concerns. Notable leakage was detected through the door gaps of a studied UVS, which also brought about safety concerns. Allowable working distances for the UV leaking UVS were suggested based on international standards.

  • The performance characteristics of a smoke damper, which aims to suppress the penetration of smoke to a safe area, have been tested under the regulation of the FIS 001. However, the improvement of the test methods and the regulation has consecutively been requested. From a view-point of fluid mechanical theory, a pressure control damper, that is installed at the end of the flow control system, is important and it dominates flow characteristics in all designed flow systems. In this study, the weak points of the regulation of the FIS 001 concerned with the pressure control damper was visited and the some important characteristics of the damper was examined. Based on these results, it was confirmed that the effects of flow disturbance in the air supplying duct on the performance of the damper are not significant. This results gives some information for the modification of the experimental regulation concerned to the pressure control damper.

  • The combustion characteristics of roof 'Jucsim' structure was analysed using real scale fire test on wooden structure heritage building. the fire test model was made to consider roof timberling internal structure for a Sunglemun. Structure of test body layed lime, soil, 'Jucsin' and ceiling board excepting roof tile to find heat propagation process by setting thermocouples. The first test to find fire growth and heat propagation process in the part of ceiling. The second test organized to find the efficiency of fire proof paint between ceiling board and inside of Jucsim structure. The third test try to get the performance level of fire proof fabric with the same manner. The result showed from the test proof the heavy smoke exposure with limited effect of fire proof paint however, reliable fire resistance effect showed in case of fire proof fabric.

Development of a Robotic Transplanter Using Machine Vision for Bedding Plants (기계시각을 이용한 육묘용 로봇 이식기의 개발)

  • This study was conducted to develop a robotic transplanter for bedding plants. The robotic transplanter consisted of machine vision system, manipulator attached with the specially designed gripper, and plug tray transfer system. Results of this study were as follows. 1. A machine vision system for a robotic transplanter was developed. The success rates of detecting empty cells and bad seedlings in 72-cell and 128-cell plug-trays for cucumber seedlings were 98.8% and 94.9% respectively. The success rates of identifying leaf orientation for 72- cell and 128-cell plug-trays were 93.5% and 91.0%, respectively. 2. A cartesian coordinate manipulator for a robotic transplanter with 3 degrees of freedom was constructed. The accuracy of position control was $\pm$ 1mm. 3. The robotic transplanter was tested with a shovel-type finger. Without considering leaf orientation, the success rates of transplanting healthy cucumber seedlings for 72-cell and 128-cell plug-trays were 95.5% and 94.5%, respectively. Considering leaf orientation, the success rates of transplanting healthy cucumber seedling in 72-cell and 128-cell plug-trays were 96.0% and 95.0%, respectively.

A Navigation Algorithm of Modular Robots with 3 DOF Docking Arm in Uneven Environments (3자유도 결합 팔을 가진 모듈형 로봇의 비평탄 지형 주행 알고리즘)

  • In the paper, we propose an improved mobility method of modular robots by physical docking in the uneven environments. The modular robot system consists of autonomous docking device, 3 DOF robotic arm, motion controller, and main controller. Real-time location and direction of the robot are estimated using inner GPS and they are used to control direction and path of each robot for physical docking between modular robots. We design a navigation algorithm of modular robot using physical docking and cooperative navigation in the environment with broken road and low stair. The proposed method is verified by navigation experiments of three developed modular robots in the uneven environments.
